Guidebook for N7 2013 LTE
In case you don't have it, it's the Nexus 7 (2013) LTE Guidebook

i know its a long shot, but it would be awesome for someone to find a way to get gsm phone call support... yes i know i could use voip but that is not very ideal... any ideas? i havent purchased yet, but will soon... would love to see this happen

Wi-fi hotspot.
Somewhere we need to maintain the status of wi-fi hotspot on various builds, updates, kernels.
Current reports say wi-fi hotspot is available out of the box, but first update kills feature. Interesting.

Same for me
let's hope that quith the full Qualcom package in the tablet it will be easier

It does on the US variant. On the EU variant tethering is still there. I would assume this is a deliberate decision from Google. Most likely under the pressure of (control freak) US carriers.

Does this mean there is a different update for US & EU variants? Or, is Tethering setting controlled via Locale settings like US or EU or other?
Are the US and EU variants on the same version?
Does anyone know if we have two (or more) different versions of the same update, or this controlled via locale setting so the US and EU versions can be same while disabling tethering, or some other tricks used by Google?
Many interesting questions. LOL

No idea, most likely the firmwares/updates are different between both variants, so would be the baseband. I am on JLS36C here. I've attached a screenshot of my "about tablet" here

I can WiFi hotspot out of box after taking update no problem here. I'm currently using the T-Mobile Sim.

I'm getting told by both Google tech support and Verizon account/tech support that the device cannot be added to a Verizon Wireless account! I've gone into a store, called verizon several times, emailed with them and have called Google and emailed with Google.
It appears it works on Verizon, but Verizon won't let it on their network if they can help it. At the store one of the clerks dropped his Verizon SIM in the tablet and it connected to the network fine.
Right now I'm having my old man pull the SIM out of his tablet that I pay for and just mail me it so I can use this sucker, he doesn't need LTE anyway.

I got my Nexus 7 LTE today and was going to root it so I could run titanium backup on my 6 week old Nexus 7 and restore to my new one but I was afraid if I rooted it that I might not be able to use the Tmobile service on it..
Any ideas if it will/will not work?

Apparently for Europe, only 32 GB version

Can I use Nexus 7 LTE to make CELLULAR phone calls?
not skype, not viber or other voip
It seems that the old n7 3G w/ Tegra 3 chip cant do it
I hope the Qualcomm S4 Pro can give me HOPE!!!

I am in HK and the LTE brand should be 3(1800) and 7 (2600). As US version does not support 2600, can I root it and flash Europe baseband to support both 1800+2600? As the chip should be the same. If yes, I will consider to purchase a US 32G lte version.

Mine arrived today and I'm loving it. It feels so much more solid than the old model. Very solid build quality and for the first time I got one with pretty much zero light bleed

LTE Root
Has anyone successfully rooted the LTE version and installed a custom recovery? If so how? Thank you!

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Wiki - Please Help To Update

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Wiki
Hi all, I have made a start to the note 2 wiki. There is not a lot to add a present, but thought it best to make a start. The wiki can be a great resource for users new and old. Its also a good way to reduce sticky threads so making it easier for us all I ask all to contribute, just only add valid information that has no copyright. Also only link Kernels that are fully GPL compliant (supply Source) As not doing this hampers future development and goes against the whole open source approach.
I will leave this thread open to discuss wiki related issues, but please keep it to only that, its not a chat room.
Hope its useful

GSMArena's Review back in September 10,2012
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_note_ii-review-811.php
The "Galaxy Note II" Released in India & Germany @ 599 Euro (NEW)
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_launches_galaxy_note_ii_in_india_and_germany-news-4863.php
I think necessary to describe in detail GPU and Video characteristics
might also want to mention the split screen functionality that were linked here from a couple of the korean language youtube videos
updated wiki with features and some minor adds .
mali-400 gpu
Tri-colour led alert light (like the S3)
It should also be made more clear in the GENERAL section that the LTE/4G referred to in the specs is for the N7105 version. I know it shows that but someone reading quickly may mistake the N7105 for part of an LTE spec rather than noticing it is a different model variant.
Further down in the specs under the DATA setting, again it should be made more clear that the LTE/4G Is only on the N7105 model.
Supplied standard Mains charge is 5 Volt 2 Amps output.
Note 2 was released in India on September 27 for 39,900 Rupees (~$760). Source
Note II for UAE was released on 28 September 2012.
Note II for Saudi Arabia was released on 2 October 2012.
Note II dul sim card for China was released on mid October
Also i could not find that it infact has a 2amp charger? as far as i understand, this is pretty new to the Note II?
- Bobo
when holding the phone with the screen facing you, the stylus goes in the bottom, on the right underside.
I am not sure what you have there is correct for every GNote2. From what I have found there are four different models that support different networks.
1. International (+LTE): SGH-7100 / SGH -7105
2. SGH-i317 : ATT+(Rogers+Bell + Telus): HSPA 850/900/1900/2100, LTE: 700/850/1700/1900
3. SCH-i605 : CDMA + LTE 700
4. SGH-T889 : T-Mobile+Mobilicity+Wind : HSPA: 850/900/1700/1900/2100, LTE: 700, 1700

hi,
need input if GNote 2 compare with SIII. which one better?
Hey,
I think that it's pretty relevant to say that it uses micro simcard? i waited 36 hours before I could use my phone, because I hadn't ordered a micro-simcard
- Bobo
OP may want to add that the phone (N7100) uses a Micro Sim Card. I thought it used a regular sim card until I unboxed mine and found out that I needed to cut my sim card

[Q] sch-I400 hardware specs

i need some help: what are i400 hardware specs?
ive been trying to find out for certain all the hardware for drivers on the continuum, also for I500 (fascinate not mesmerize).
i am in need to find out the right config and take out all the debugging remarks.
when i compiled the GB kernel from sources i seen that theconfigs differ on the s5pv210 vs the s5pc110 boards [edit: there is a driver that atlas uses to use both boards), i think thats why the kernel fc'd on boot.
i will post what i have found and if we can search and find the rest, it would help out sooo much.
thanks
<3 ciscogee
Let me know what you need and I'll help as much as I can. May not be much, but I'll try!

Happy about pretty much everything but the huge amount of wasted real estate on the front. It's like my Jewel buy with an extra speaker on the front.
Regardless, I'll be getting one today if the upgrade price is right.

GSMArena review starts positive & then saves its royal kicking until the end. Basically a decent phone let down by a camera that didn't even cut the mustard in 2013 let alone 2014.

This is exactly how I will feel about all new up and coming flagship phones.... Meh... I will definitely bypass this year's new flagship phones.
Sent from my C6833 using Tapatalk
So just like the Samsung s5 only a very small upgrade. It's nice to add a microsd SD slot but seriously the HTC logo is still incredible misplaced.
Also lol at all that fitness crap, since all manufacturers are doing it it seems more like a data fishing attempt. I am 5 times a week in the gym and i know some people nobody uses their smartphone for tracking stuff, 90 percent of the time it's used to replace a mp3 player.
It's really a small and disappointing upgrade no octacore, no 3gb ram and no uhd so far all phones this year seem lackluster.

So as to the display, there may not be a change regarding brightness? The Maxx is LCD & X still AMOLED. I found the orig x too dim for outdoor viewing.
Worried about battery life

Specs I have seen say led but it is much brighter anyhow
In order for active display to be battery friendly the device needs an AMOLED display, LCDs aren't battery friendly when it comes to AD because the whole screen must turn on.

Edit, seems brightness measurements are inconsistent. Here is another test of many phones including the new X :crying:
http://www.phonearena.com/phones/benchmarks
Maxx screen:
Fortunately, like the Ultra and Moto X, the Maxx features a RGB sub-pixel structure, meaning each pixel on the Maxx's display has its own blue, green and red subpixels. The result is a display that produces some of the most gorgeous, vibrant colors we've seen on any smartphone. Colors popped so much against the Maxx's black display bezel that images and movies looked as though they were floating over a sheet of glass. While watching a trailer for "Thor: The Dark World," the Norse god's flowing red cape and golden hair stood out starkly against a grey background.
More good news: At 488 lux, the Maxx's screen is one of the brightest we've tested, falling short of only the iPhone 5's 525 lux rating. The Galaxy S4 wasn't far behind, though, at 480 lux. HTC's One came in at a relatively low 375 lux, while the smartphone category average came in at 394 lux. LG's giant G2 offered a relatively dim 351 lux.
X screen:
Averaging 482 lux on our light meter, the Moto X's screen is brighter than the average smartphone (387 lux). It's also brighter than the HTC One (433 lux) and Galaxy S4 (446 lux). When outdoors, we could read the Moto X's screen, but the iPhone 5's display shined brighter (535).
end quotes
I believe the difference I found was greater than 6 lux but they found the Maxx brighter nonetheless.
I also use this now & so should everyone for best outdoor viewing.
Lux apk.

What can we learn from this specification is that the new Moto x comes in 4 variants: XT1095 for AT&T (and Latin America I guess), XT1096 for Verizon, XT1092 (don't know but regarding LTE for one of the USA providers, maybe Sprint?) and XT1093 / XT1094, the model which will cover plain GSM area, like Europe, Asia etc. And the last one is also assumed to be only developer's edition phone (Motorola's already confirmed that only GPS will come unlocked and unbranded. It is confirmed for now as well that T-mobile won't have its own model, but XT1093 / XT1094 will cover its needs sufficiently. That was expected since even previous Moto x for T-mobile was unlocked.
This is of course preliminary specification, every adjustment is welcome. It is more accurate than that from GSMArena though.

I'm ready for the new Moto Maxx
I like the round LED ring haha, and the other thing is that it has my favorite color
I hope the 32GB version is released soon, my phone is already filled beyong 16GB already
How was the development on the original Moto X? I have AT&T and if I were to get the Moto X I would get the unlocked GSM version, I'm just curious about development mainly kernels as the ROM it comes with is AOSP plus some nice moto features.
A moto x running slimkat with the new moto app would be a huge win lol

Why would they not equip this with ext sd card support? 32g int memory is an absolute joke.
Would have been an exceptional device but with that pitiful amount of storage its a paperweight to me sadly.

Moto G has got stereo speakers as well
Motorola has a long history of messing up with things despite of what it's fans want.
Now I am afraid soon they will launch a refreshed version of the new Moto X which will will then have the controversially dropped out features and buyers of the current version with will feel the pinch.

I can't confirm, but i've seen in multiple threads that people are saying it's the same camera as the OP3. If that's the case, it's a mid-range camera, which is absolutely fine for this price range. The ROM and kernel support is what i'm more worried about at this point. Change the software in this phone and this is a spiritual successor to the original nexus line (some compromises on things like camera and flash memory speed, mostly up-to-date specs with a great price point)
I totally agree on the spec vs price point. It's just crazy to have to fork over another $350-400 just for a better camera.
I currently own an LG G3 W/Xosp and have never been impressed with the camera.
So I'm searching for the best Chinese phone that can have custom rooms.
Thanks

No OIS and even no DIS, no USB 3.0/3.1 and the screen is not the best. The old Le Max 2 Pro got a much better screen.
So maybe wait for xiomi latest and greatest? Mi mix looking pretty amazing
