Most of these features that you described are also present in the note 2 hidden setting app.

I was using that app for my note2. But it requires much more root permission. And still in beta stage.
Also get ads.
By manual adding code take time, but we can customise it by our way.

How to use Root Explorer

Root explorer is pretty straight forward but can be confusing for some people who have never used it before. I have made this list based on the most commonly questions I have read about how to use Rood Explorer. I hope this answers your questions but if it doesn't, post the question and I'm sure I or someone will help you out.
When it won't let you manipulate a file ("this file system is read only") just touch the white button on the top that says "mount r/w"
When you long press files and folders for the sub menu, you can
Extract all
Delete
Rename
Copy
Move
Change Permissions
Properties
Add Bookmark
Send
View as text
Open in text editor
Zip a file
Create Tar
Change owner
You can also press menu for
New folder
Preferences
Bookmarks
Search
Muli-select
more gives you
Home
Refresh
New file
About
Exit
This program pretty much explains itself so just give it a little time and mess with it for a bit.
That's funny.

What I was wondering is how can I install a system app? I know I can move them into system, but how can I install them? Do I have to flash a zip or put them in the rom zip and flash that?

You will need the .apk file for the app you want to install. Put it on your sd card. Then Just copy the .apk file in the system/app folder. you will need to hit the R/W button up top in order to copy/ paste it there. After that it will show up in your app drawer.
This guide should help people out.

This reply is actually incomplete.
Those are the first steps necessary, but the most important step is, once the file has been successfully copied, to long-press on the file (or press "Menu" while the file is highlighted), and choose "Permissions". A series of checkboxes will appear. The Permissions will need to be set to match the other files in /system/app, which will be rw-r--r--. That is, all of the first column boxes should be checked, and the top checkbox in the second column. Any other checkboxes should be unchecked. Once that's done, press "OK", and it will confirm the permissions have changed. The Permissions on the file you copied over should now match the other files in the folder. THEN, after you reboot, the app should appear in your app drawer .

[update: 08/03/2012] [TUT]How to Port Samsung keyboard from stock Rom flash zip file

Thnkx to my friend adib_17 from galaxy mini section for guiding me for this.
spent 4 days in learning and testing and now its working on carbon for me. file is flashable.
This tutorial show you how to port stock sam keyboard to a custom rom.
you need these files and folders ... take from your stock rom odin flashable file: (use magicIso or UltraIso)
- T9DB folder (from csc.rfs file)
- AxT9IME.apk and AxT9IME.odex (from system.rfs file in app folder)
- touchwiz.xml (from system.rfs file in etc->permissions folder)
- libdhwr.so and libXt9core.so (from system.rfs file in lib folder)
first deodex your AxT9IME.apk (see post #2)
make a flashable zip file and put stock files like this: (or use attachment zip file and delet my files and put your files.)
- T9DB folder in: yourzip/system/
- touchwiz.xml in: yourzip/system/etc/permissions
- libdhwr.so and libXt9core.so in: yourzip/system/lib
- deodex AxT9IME.apk in: yourzip/system/app
move zip file to SDcard and reboot to recovery(CWR) and select "install zip from SD". after install go to advanced menu and wipe dalvik cache.
finish! now reboot and use Samsung keyboard with your language.
# if your rom is odex go to system/app with root explorer, find AxT9IME.apk and AxT9IME.odex and add ".bak" to end of two files then reboot to recovery.#
Asian rom keyboard extracted from S5830DDKQ6 INDIA with this languages:
English(US)-English(UK)-France-polski-Korean-deutsch-espanolitaliano and many more (all rom have english and Korean)
Note : Before flashing got to system/app and rename your old keyboard and add .bak in the end of its name.
for example : if old keyboard is latin.apk and latin.odex then rename to latin.apk.bak and latin.odex.bak.
thats all now go into recovery
1. clear dalvik cache.
2. install my zip.
3. reboot enjoy samsung keyboard.
Added 2 new versions all files are flash-able via cmw recovery :
1. For voice input like this (in attachment) :
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
2. swype keyboard original ( link )

Download link for swype :
http://www.mirrorcreator.com/files/P3TESM5K/swype_by_MOR.zip_links
How to deodex ...
Install Java Runtime Enviroment on your PC.
Download backsmali.jar and smali.jar from attachment.
Make a folder like edit in root of a drive (ex: C:\edit )
Put backsmali.jar and smali.jar files in this direction.
You need 7 odex file from stock framwork:
- android.policy.odex
- bouncycastle.odex
- core.odex
- core-junit.odex
- ext.odex
- framework.odex
- services.odex
Put all files in "edit" folder. Now put AxT9IME.odex file in this folder.
Run windows cmd (go to start menu, Run... and type cmd and then enter)
First line go to "edit" folder by insert this commend : (you can copy and past this comment from here)
Code:
cd\edit
Next, insert this line for backsmali AxT9IME.odex :
Code:
java -jar baksmali.jar -x AxT9IME.odex
Now you have a out folder. Don't touch it.
Insert this commend for smali your work :
Code:
java -jar smali.jar out
Now in "edit" folder you have a file like this: out.dex
Rename file to classes.dex , open your AxT9IME.apk with winRar (or any program like this) push your .dex file to .apk file ... WooW, now you deodex your fist android system app.
reserved for future use....

you can try else you have to copy app in system /app
I got it installed, placed in the system/app folder. Changed the build.prop files. I still get a DC after asking it to call someone.
Any ideas or thoughts on getting it to stop fc-ing? Also I find this weird, I had 45% power before hand. Now I'm at 17%. Check out the drop in my screenshoot.

-Using root explorer go back to your SD-Card and long press on the apns.xml file and tap copy.
-Now go back to your system/etc folder and paste there.
-Next using voice dialer on your phone open apn's by talking into your phone, just say "Open Apn's" and tap the option

I figured I'd toss this out there as a way for us to pull together (hopefully) as a community.
Since ParanoidAndroid is based off of CM10, should the settings in apns-conf.xml (which I extracted and attached - just remove the ".zip" at the end of the file name) be the same on CM10?
I had applied the APN tweaks to CM10 (proxy/port settings) previously, and with this post had compared the info - and it's different. Just wondering if all these changes should be made to the APN settings.
I would imagine that all Sprint devices should have the exact same APN settings, but I could be wrong.

At first that's what I thought but after trying and trying I came to the conclusion that it wasn't going to work so thats why the differences on my xml from the default sprint settings, im not certain if this settings will work for any other ROMs but it works great on the 4.1.1 Paranoid.
Follow the steps carefully and give it another try

I didn't use this (the OP's) tweak because I'm on CM10, not ParanoidAndroid.
All I was asking, is this tweak applicable (settings-wise) to CM10? The tweak for CM9/10 for APN's is not as involved as this; this fix changes a lot more of the settings on the APN page.

How to enable Software Navigation Buttons ?

Hello,
Is there a way to enable, Software navigation buttons on Mi A1.
As the hardware capacitive keys, are positioned in chinese format, "back key" is on right, where as it should be on left.
Add this line to build.prop and reboot:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
Could it be possible in future to swap back and multitasking buttons and turn off the button light?

back there when I use Oneplus you have to edit Generic.kl file located at system/usr/keylayout
since Oneplus have stock AOSP based ROM just like Mi A1, it should be the same, or similar.

anyone knows how to turn off the light on the a1?

No. It just enables soft keys. To disable hw keys
Using root explorer Go to system/usr/keylayout
edit the ft5435_ts.kl and add # before menu home and back..save and reboot..both light and hw keys will be disabled..
Found an app on play store to swap back and recent key. Upgrade to pro is needed. I tried the app and it works great but ram consumed is above 200mb. Button mapper.
hw key disabled but light still on.

Replace services.jar file attached to system/framework. Backup old file. Replace the new file and set permission to 644.
Delete services.odex file from system/framework/oat/arm64
Restart. Done.
This can be achieved from GravityBox( xposed module ) under 'Navigation bar Tweaks' enable master switch and tick 'Enable navigation bar' check box and restart your device.

Me too encountered the same problem. I've tried lot of methods but anything doesn't worked for me.
After lot of trials, I found disable backlight option in gravity box after installing xposed.
Hit thanks if it worked for you.

My mobile struck on boot after doing this.

Hi, you can try it with this app(I used it and it worked but with another manufacturer, not xiaomi):
Buttons remapper
To Disable the capacitive button lights download 'Keyboard Backlight Controller' or just edit 'brightness' in /sys/class/leds/button-backlight folder. Change to 0 and reboot
