Hey, welcome to XDA!
You can enter in download mode this way:
1. Remove the battery;
2. Hold the necessary buttons;
3. Put the battery;
4. Wait and see!

i use the odin v3.07. alright here is what i did i removed the battery press the vol down button the home key the but by the time i could press the power button the phone was already powered on. so i removed the battery and placed back in and the phone vibrated and booted up.so i though it was the power button that is defective in the sense that a trigger is closed thus allowing the device to be powered up without pressing the power button. but as for the ADB im not familiar with it.

1+1=2 , bro your power Button is shorted ! open and check it !

[Q] Oh no Bricked!

I tried to update my firmware last night using odin (I've used it several times for my Galaxy S) and it failed, the error message was something along the lines of "write operation failed"
after waiting 25mins to see if my tab would reboot it didn't so I held down the power button to restart it and it switched off and now it won't switch on again ....
I've tried plugging it into all my usb slots, charging through the wall charger and tried using android commander but nothing makes the screen pop up with that little image of a computer and phone.
I can't even get into download mode, and odin doesn't pick it up. I think it's bricked for good,
I had a issue with the USB cable and had to get it replaced by samsung, now my ELF (Early-Life Failure) is up so I don't know what to do.....
Any Suggestions?
It's ok buddy its not bricked just plug in to the usb on the pc with odin3 on and leave at for a wile and it will come right back up.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
I left it plugged in for about 10/15 mins and nothing happened after that I tired to to the whole power+volume down+home button to turn it off and back on, didn't work and just tried to ADB it and the device isn't found.
So I think its a costly paperweight atm
Ok well plug it in to the wall outlet and leave it for a few hours. I had tbe same prom you had and thats what work for me.

lol I liked my paperweight too much Ok I'll leave charged at home while I go to work for 7 hours, Thanks for your help bulldebeerman, Hopefully this fixes the ubertab (yes I nicknamed this paperweight!)
Ok so It's still bricked.... I forgot to mention the buttons don't work eg. I push and hold the power button and it does nothing. I charged it for the day so it should be 100% battery and now odin isn't finding it still. Also I didn't have USB debbuging enabled :/
Now I will admit I don't have a Tab(til next month) but wouldn't you un brick it the same way you do a Samsung Vibrant?
(Am not trying to be smart, just trying to find out everything I can before I buy it)...And on that note is there a 32GB version out?

Have you tried dropping the phone into Recovery Mode?
There is some confusion on what buttons to press where some say to press and hold the Volume Up AND Power Buttons simultaneously, whereas others mention pressing the above AND the Back Button.
If you can get into Recovery Mode you may be able to restart the phone.
If not and Revery Mode works try dropping the phone into Download Mode which is the same for RM but you press the Volume Down instead of Up.
With DM you will then be able to use third party software (Odin & a suitable ROM image from samfirmware'com) to bring the phone back up and running.
Yep tried all that tried
Power + Volume Up
Power + Volume Down
Power + Volume Up + Down
Power + Volume Down + Home
Power + Volume Domn + Up + Home
so um.... nothing makes the phone start

You mentioned Home button but not the Back Button.
I take it that does not work either?
Sorry forgot to menton that ... tried all possible combos for that too .... and adb won't detect the tab which kinda really make me think its brick for good :/
Its not bricked.
Power it off, and power it back on holding the vol down button and the power button.
When you see the computer---!---phone icon, release the keys, and connect it to a pc with an open odin. It will get recognized ( even though you dont get the download mode, you are in it ).
After that, flash whatever you need.
Try that and let me know.

Need big help on my Vibrant

I have been trying to turn on my phone for several hours and it just won't turn on, the battery is full as well. I have tried many solutions such as
1. Download all the files required in the "SOFT BRICKS" section of this post.
2. Remove everything from your phone (SD card, sim, battery).
3. Plug your phone into your computer WITHOUT the battery, as you have already taken it out in the last step.
4. Press and HOLD vol. up and vol. down.
5. As you are HOLDING these buttons, reattach your battery.
6. You should be in Download Mode.
7. Unplug phone from USB
This method wouldn't help, my phone is still off. I really need help . Thanks in advance.
Is there a way to unbrick it without jigging it? I know that it has been hard bricked but I tried out many methods
Did you try pushing the power button?

While I was trying to recover back to normal using Odin 1.7, I accidently pressed start with only 1 file which was PIT. After it was done, my Vibrant shut off completely and couldn't turn on.

Home button issues

hi guys. today my galaxy s4 suddenly rebooted and now it cant get past the galaxy s4 screen on boot. it automaticly gets into this screen for several seconds, then a black screen and then again. also, when i put in the battery it automaticly starts, and gets in this loop.
i searched the forum a little and i suspect it is somthing with the home button. do i need to replace the whole display to fix thix? or what should i do.
And some important infomation, my home button is a little bent for the last 5 months, but so far it had no problems.
Have you tried to start recovery or download?
Remove the battery, wait half a minute, reinsert the battery and push at the same time Vol Up+Home+Power keys.
If that works you may wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache and maybe it will boot normally again.

I agree with @DeepankarS. Seems your power button is stuck.
If so it is a good reason to have the bootloop. Please double check it.

Thus is not the first kinda problem..the download mode rebooting is directly liked to it..because the download mode will never reboot without the power button being pressed (exceptions ignored)
Try tapping it on a flat surface too...not hard..but ya..
Or search..how people released the stuck power buttons here..

Phone will not turn back on

In sum, earlier today I was using my phone with no problems-- calls, texts, using apps etc. I went to 'close my screen' when I was done using it and I realized the side power/lock screen button was not working and my screen was not responding when I wanted to lock it. I removed the battery hoping it would reset the phone and fix what was wrong but now my phone will not turn back on. I plugged the phone into the wall for at least 30 minutes as well as plugging it in the computer for quite some time. No response from the phone at all. (no charging icon, computer is not detecting the usb cable when plugged into computer, etc.)I also held the buttons down to try to power on as well.
I was wondering if there was a way to fix this problem, or somehow retrieve files (mainly pictures) from the phone,
Thank you for your help. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Are you able to listen that click sound?
Tap the phone's power button on a flat surface.
Or
Open the phone and try to get the power button leave its stuck position
Or
Go to any local mobile repair shop, they'll do it for you
It is a stuck power button issue..and you wont be able to get in recovery.
If you can get into recovery, flash aroma file manager and paste your files on your ext sd..

Try pulling the battery out (for at least 5 minutes), putting back in and then holding "Volume Down" + "Home" + "Power".
IF you could see a warning screen appearing, then press "Volume Down".
IF the phone restarts, you'll be good
But if it could start, please make a backup of all your files!
And if not, then enter in that mode again and try to flash a new firmware through ODIN.
OH! AND IF YOU WANT TO RECOVER YOUR FILES, DON'T DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!
If you want your files, flash TWRP and pull your files to your pc through ADB.

I do not believe the power button is stuck as I can hear the slight clicking sound when pressing.
The phone did not respond when I tried to restart my pressing volume down, home and power buttons.

You couldn't even enter in download mode. I think your phone is dead. And no, there will be no easy ways to recover your files without special tools.

The battery might be dead. Try changing the battery and then try turning it on
If not. Remove the battery, plug it in to a PC using your usb and see if by using the 3 key combination it enters the download mode?
If these dont work..buy a USB jig...Charge your phone..(just leave it plugged in) after 15 min...insert the USB jig.and you'll see download mode.

[Q] Entering Recovery Mode WITHOUT the Home Button

Hi All,
I'm currently repairing an S5 - G900F and have become a little stuck.
My home button does not work, any suggestions on how to enter the recovery menu without it?
I purchased this mobile from Gumtree, the seller thought it had completely given up the ghost..
I have no access to any functions on the device and am completely locked out. The device starts up fine however does not accept my fingerprint scan as it has the sellers credentials on, I do not have the alternative password.
I try booting into recovery (Vol Up + Menu + Power) however it just goes straight to the normal booting image and starts up
Much love, thanks, Si.
The only other ways I know of are to use an app like quickboot, need to have root though. And if USB debugging is turned on and you have adb set up you can use adb reboot recovery. Maybe someone else has a suggestion though.

Use ADB if you have android sdk installed
Go to the sdk\platform-tools folder, hold the shift key on your PC and right click the mouse button then select Open Command Prompt Here
Plug in the phone, you need to have adb debugging enabled in Developer Options, then in the CMD window type adb reboot recovery press the return key
The phone will reboot into recovery mode

Hey Detection, Yeah I have, here's the scenario:
I bought the phone from Gumtree, it was in terrible condition, I've replaced the USB port as this was the reason the seller wanted rid of it, he believed it had broken completely so for £30 I decided to buy it just in case it was fixable. Once I changed the USB port I found it charged, the LCD was next so I found a bargain on eBay for an OEM screen and changed that, decided to replace the mid chassis and rear cover as well, I also replaced the front camera module and rear camera lens. It looks mint now however it boots with his old setup credentials (including fingerprint lock) which I can't bypass!!
The install of the new LCD went smoothly, I took all of the protective plastic strips from the electrical circuits and one from the home button. It will read my fingerprint scan and tells me it's not matched and just locks me out. When I turn the phone off, hold down vol up, home button and power I can't access the boot menu..

Just to clarify, you're not holding down both the volume up and volume down along with home and power?
For download mode, it's volume down, home and power,
For recovery, it's volume up, home and power

Literally Volume Up, Menu and Power. I've tried a number of variants with no luck. I'm beginning to think I have a defective LCD to be honest as I can't get into download mode either. I thought it strange that the menu button can read my fingerprint scan however I think there are two separate sensors for both pressing and scanning.
I don't really want to remove the LCD now I've fitted it but I may have to! I can't see any other option

You can completely reset the phone using Samsung Kies, run Kies and go to Tools > Firmware Upgrade and Installation then follow the on screen instructions
This procedure wipes all the data from the phone and installs the latest firmware version.
Edit :- Just though that this might require you to manually enter recovery mode, if it does then this wont help.
