good, i didn't like the look of galaxy's new 12 inch tablet, that home button in the middle was so out of place, any idea what the other specs will be like?
i just hope they still support the older models after this is released, that is what a lot of people should be worried about.

I'm all in getting this and the note 3!

damit, it has the same home button in the middle like the 12 inch, i don't like it and i bet we won't get the 64gb model in the uk like last time, why have samsung gone back to lcd? i always like their amoled displays, not sure why it's a step back but the resolution is a welcome.

They mentioned the older model should receive updates by October so it can also be linked with the Galaxy Gear. Should be 4.3?
I'm surely getting the 10.1!

I am afraid the home button is also featured in updated 10.1 version. It does look out of place.
Also android "Taskbar" missing?

How come Samsung didn't even mention if Galaxy Note 10.1 (2012) and Note II owners are getting Android 4.3 with all those features?
They just talked about how the S4 would get the 4.3 in October.
So, are they leaving us in the dust? I think so.......

it looks out of place because the volume rocker and home button are in two different places, not good when you want to access buttons quickly.

They mentioned S3, Note 2, and S4 to get the software update so it can be connected to the Gear. But its not clear whether its 4.3.
But if the new line is 4.3 then it should be the same for compatibility I guess, and I hope lol!

I have to say that I am not too geeked up about the physical home button... However this screen is going to be heavenly! The current screen looks awful compared to any other tablet on the market right now. This is a for sure buy for me! However... Price? I hope they don't jack the price up to like $599 for the WiFi version. If it's $499 I am buying on launch day!

yep it does, now that all current tablets have such a high res display our tablets look dated and washed out lol but what do you expect technology moves so fast. anyways i won't be purchasing one for a while yet, wait till my current one breaks and then buy this new one, by then this 2014 model should be much more cheaper, i've only had the note 10.1 for 10 months, thats not long at all.

yes you are correct, it's a TFT lcd display, soz my bad.

the specs are amazing, we will see now if their new octa core can stack up against the snapdragon 800
the actual tablet though not so much
everywhere I look, complaints about the home buttons
its good for the note 8 but anything above that looks bad
status bar is at the top now, will they allow users to switch between top and bottom? which I doubt they will
what happened to the front speakers
im glad they finally ditched their 30 pin connector though wish they put it on the side instead
have to hold down the back button now to access multitasking just like all other samsung devices now
and price?
im expecting at least $550

Rolls out to 149 country's on sept. 25. why did they bother with the octa core. It is blown away by SD 800. I certainly won't bother with the wifi version with that processor

mmm...even though it features Android 4.3 I haven't seen any mention whether or not it includes Multi user accounts feature....

I was going to buy this, but I was really hoping touchwiz would improve in the looks department. I liked it for a little bit on my note 2, but I grew tired of it fast. I think I'll probably wait to see the new nexus 10.

3gb of ram is overkill, not much apps even use 2gb let alone 3gb, what will they use instead of the 30 pin connector? micro usb connector like the note 2?

This will probably be my first tablet.
I will have to find a Exynos version. I think all WiFi version will be powered by Exynos.

I liked its back but from front no ..... It looks like xperia z tablet from the sides with a no sense button in front (i hate xperia devices design sucksss)
I wont buy it it would be expensive and i just got my note from about 6 months
Maybe will get note 10.1 2015 edition who knows :highfive:
When will our note 10.1 get 4.3 update we want the new FEATURES ?

Shame the SD800 is only in the LTE versions. That would be the one to get IMO.
3GB of Ram... wow, little overkill but might last a bit longer than 2GB models. Even though I have 2GB right now, it hovers in around 1.0-1.2Gigs of usage at most at this time. Maybe something in the future will utilize it more.
Screen res, glad they upgraded it. Nice to see it get a reasonable resolution at least for the size.

why did they change the processor ?!?!!
aren't they slapping early adopters in the face with that move ?
or is it the same processor just overclocked to 1.5 ...
the phone came out about 4 months ago why bump the specs SO early....
anyways great phones, Samsung is really aiming high with these
look at the weight... galaxy s2 is still the lightest of them

I'm guessing their going with Qualcomm because atm, their chip is the only one that supports LTE (at least in the US). Samsung might be working on an Exynos chip that can handle LTE but that hasn't been announced yet.
The Note is sporting a 1.4Ghz Exynos processor. Sexy beast w/ the Super Amoled HD screen! 5.3in. Screen, gorgeous!

I did read somewhere Note comes with Exynos chip clocked at 1.4 ghz and surely has LTE

I mind says choose S II LTE while the heart says its got to be Note.
All three are the best in class smartphones. May be I could keep all three

Hmm, i don't feel like hitting the like button. My GS2 running at [email protected] with the official Samsung extended battery feels no envy at all
The soc is still the same afaik, this sounds like a cheap screen size buff to me. Anyway i'm pretty sure this will sell well in the US: it seems like people don't mind carrying a desktop pc in their pockets there
My galaxy s2 probably still in my pocket.
If Galaxy Note has stereo mic with noise reduction and can be installed voodoo control and it's super amoled hd plus i can sell my gs2 and buy it.
But i don't think it has all of them.. maybe none.
Hope for Nexus Prime...
The Samsung Note has me won over by the 2500 mah battery.
I'll keep my s2, not only because its new but more into my needs of the device.
Its a different things with an improvement from the 7 to 7'7gtab
Its an art of technology development

As you undoubtedly know, samsung has said Note will not be released in the US
Sgs2 screen is big enough and I cant see development being anywhere near as big for the others. Android runs smooth as butter with the sgs2 anyways. Cant see any reason in the near future for an upgrade
How about having a Wolfson audio chip inside Galaxy Note !!! with 5.3 inch screen it looks gorgeous. Well my biggest question is SUPER AMOLED PLUS vs SUPER AMOLED HD. I am sure letters are more readable with 285 ppi on the HD screen but what about the colors are they as bright as PLUS on HD screen. I hope so.
With a Wolfson audio chip and Super saturated HD screen i would go for the Galaxy Note. I love big screen's.

Be aware that there'se an official 2000mah battery for the GS2: it's doesn't even add bulk, it just makes the phone all thick as it already is at its bottom. I got it today and it rocks. Too bad the phone doesn't fit anymore in the case now...
GSG2 LTE sounds good. I can't wait til its released. I hoping it works on ATT. Didn't get SGS2 but kind of glad now. We have LTE launched in Houston but i don't know how good it is. Anyways still going to try it out once released.

Im looking forward to NOTE, if i like it (and its size) when i take it in my hands, its very likely that ill give my SGS2 to my girl and take NOTE for me
dont forget the note has a higher resoloution and bigger screen to power and its also overclocked to 1.4ghz with probably quite high voltages
i would say you may get equal battery life out of the sgs2 with 2000mah battery and overclocking and undervolting
of course that only matters if you want the note for the battery i can see the appeal of the device it would make so many things even better like media viewing , web browsing , sat nav etc but at the same time it may be just to big for my pockets i would have to hold it before making that judgement though saying that i am happy with my sgs2 and dont see the point in upgrading , its just a sideways step there will be much better coming real soon and they will be forwards steps like quad core etc
i dont think with that screen the battery will be much different to the 2000mah genuine one that you can buy for the sgs2 this device will rock for people who want an even bigger sgs2 though good too see samsung covering all aspects of the market

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 Successor?

Hi Guys,
I currently own the Galaxy Tab 7.7 P6800 and love the device (especially after the ICS upgrade).
Such a nice combination of size, and functionality.
With the Galxy Note 2 reportedly coming out soon, what do you guys think about the Tab 7.7 successor?
I believe the Note and Tab 7.7 were announced the same time last year.

Don't ask me how I know this, but there is (or was as of a few months ago) a successor planned.
I also love the 7.7 because of the size, super amoled plus screen and the build quality but that comes at a high price compared to other tablets.
I would love Samsung to release a successor with a higher resolution screen (1920*1080), 2GB of memory, 2-GHz quad-core processor, S-Pen and Jelly bean which would make upgrading worthwhile.

Lets get a petition going. Ask them to sell it for $700-$900 gsm unlocked through google play. I'd pay $1000 for THIS one if it had a wacom digitizer...
Sent from my GT-P6800 using XDA Premium HD app
that would be nice... but dont want to pay premium for a device thats not future proof. Samsung and Google should go for 7.7 Nexus (premium device):fingers-crossed:
well if the new tab is a Samoled+ and 1080p along with the same battery timing and a 2gb ram + quadcore+ maintaining the same thin form factor then i will pay twice the price of the current one.... and i would love it like hell if there are two slots for microsd cards rather than just one... that would be the ultimate feature...
So, gentlemen, we've brainstormed the perfect SUPERTAB, now how do we get samsung (the sAMOLED+ patent holder) to make one?
7.7" form factor
sAMOLED+ with wacom digitizer (aka s-pen functionality)
243dpi or 1080p
2 sd card slots or perhaps 1 micro USB
GSM cell and data radio
5500miliamp bat.
1.4 ghz quad-core
2GB RAM
Really, the nexus, note, gTab 7.7, and 10.1 should all be galaxy class devices and have similar specs. Release them all at once, every holiday.
How do we get samsung to even consider a premium tier, mid tier and low-end tier though?
Their approach is so scattershot, there's no way they'd ever operate this way.
Granted, sAMOLED+ will be replaced SOON. My guess is 2015, likely by motorola or apple,
Capacitive brushes and precision styli won't require wacom forever... it wasn't hard to come up with what would make the next gen version of the p68xx worth paying for, so how do we move this forward?
Sent from my GT-P6800 using XDA Premium HD app
hope they include
-IR blaster
-mini USBport
-8-12mpxl main cam with xenon flash
-thinner bezel
they should redesign the speaker positions like those gtabs in germany wherein the speakers are on top and the bottom of the device (front facing i think)
so that whenever I play something, I won't inadvertently cover the speaker ports
Are you kidding?
I've only just started using my 7.7 in earnest after the ICS update.
Hoping a Jelly Bean rom will appear in the coming months and a 7.7 successor will be irrelevant

i agree to this. but yeah a successor would be nice. as long as my current 7.7 can do what i want it to do then i'm fine with it hehe.
for me, at least, the features that i would like for it to have is:
- higher resolution/dpi screen
- 8 or 12mp camera at the back
- 3 or 5mp camera in front
- removable/replaceable battery (no tablet has this i think)
- microUSB suporrt
- a better and faster media scanner (current one is pretty slow)
- orientation lock for the native video player
- better/louder speakers
- support for external hard drive usage
- dual sim support
- dual microSD suport
- keep receiver mode (love that i can call and send text messages using this tablet)
speaking of impossible, it would be awesome if the tab industry makes a tablet that can fold the screen into two, making it two screens. just unfold to return back to the full screen. LOL

Why have you stopped?
But seriously, there is no reason why these can't be included in a tab, but the drawbacks, I believe are:
1) Google want people to use "cloud"/internet to save and retrieve information from - not USB or internal storage - more advertising revenue (?)
2) The reason for a non-replaceable battery is that it is of a much better quality, whilst keeping production costs down - spare part batteries may also keep the device going longer than Samsung wish.
3) other things will come as technology improves and costs are kept under control - e.g. producing a drastically better dpi screen would double the price of the tab because that is not the current norm.
Anyway, this time next year, a lot of these wishes could be the norm.
A removable battery should be included, what happens when the original battery dies? Are we gonna be forced to buy a new tab because we can't replace battery?

7.7" SAMOLED 286 PPI @ 1080P, oh man that screen would be gorgeous... That screen + Exynos Quad + 2GB of RAM would be pretty sweet device (and realistic too). Because they can make higher PPI displays using pentile matrix on OLED tech. (S III has 306 PPI).
Unfortunately with the release and pricing of the Nexus 7, I'll be surprised to see Samsung continue to compete in this area... Which is unfortunate with the many features I appreciate missing in the Nexus.

The next nexus tablet could be a motorola, which has licensed the sAMOLED patent from samsung, or samsung manufactured the screen for the droid razr... also, toshiba has released a sAMOLED tablet, but I've been too busy fawning over mine to pay much attention to it.
I'd be willing to bet a "nexus line" of products will be coming along soon. Mid-high range devices for professionals and not just enthusiasts...
that day will come

You are right. Will there be 3rd parties willing to offer replacing batteries? I fear a period of time will come when people start ripping out the insides to replace parts and they won't be able to. The battery is my prime suspect.
Suggest it to Engadget and get them to post it up on their site.
Apparently Samsung look to their comments section for feedback on their devices (their laptops anyway).

Do you regret buying a Galaxy Note?

So, with all of the fuss around the Galaxy S3, potentially a new iPhone and other quad-core phones bustling out onto the market, I have had one or two people ask me as to whether or not I regret purchasing a Galaxy Note considering that it only features a dual-core processor and may not even get Jelly Bean unlike S3 which is almost guaranteed to. So, do you regret purchasing the Note and wished you'd gotten an S3/other device instead or not? I, personally, love my Galaxy Note. I couldn't afford both a tablet and phone, so this fills that gap perfectly. The S3 has admittedly got better processing power, but the Note is still the only phone which has true 1080P resolution screen (as far as I am aware).

Not a bit. I came from a SGS2, and haven't looked back. And what's this rubbish about not getting JB? We'll have JB quite soon; have you seen the news about CM10?
Note is not 1080p (1920x1080), it's 1280x800, which is still great. It has a higher pixel density than the iPad3.
If I had known 'bout the emmc brick bug, I may have bought a nexus.
I mean it does get updates super fast and all.
But weather I regret it or not,
well I don't.
Nope, best phone I've ever owned. Imported from Germany as soon as available for way too much.
Fast, beautiful screen and great size. I actually wouldn't mind a bit bigger. I hope they don't muck up version 2 too much.
My only regret on the Note is the EMMC bug. I mean, what the heck! we paid the phone more than 700usd when it was released and we get a bug in the official firmware that can brick this expensive phone for good!! This is completely unacceptable....but I will still get the Note 2 just because of the large screen!
The Note can be compared ONLY to another Galaxy Note, which does not exist.
Criskelo 4.04 ICS LRG v9, LRB Modem, speedmod k3-9 kernel, Carrier: AT&T (US)
Not at all. No other phone has 5,3" amoled screen - i dont really care about quad-core, dual core is enough at the moment for me.
Brick bug is the only flaw with this entire device.

I never have a problem putting it into my pockets (normal fitting jeans) and sometimes carry 2 phones in the same pocket at the same time (Note plus either the Epic 4G/Nexus S 4G).
LOVE my Note. I've been owning it for over 4 months now and it still runs just as good as the day I bought it and I'm still on GB (stock but rooted). Heck it has been so good even while stock, I still run TW launcher! I also own a Nexus S 4G and Epic 4G (on Sprint, work phones) and I still default to my Note for just about anything that I don't do on my laptop. I also own an HP Touchpad (bought during the firesale has WebOS and CM on it) and ever since I've had the Note, I rarely use it, now mainly my kids play with it. The Note truly is the best all-in-one device. The only thing is the eMMC bug which I've hesitated updating to ICS, but even on GB it does everything I need it to do. If/when Sprint carries the Note 2, then I'll upgrade then. Heck I am already upgrade eligible on Sprint, but rumors of a Note 2 announcement on August 30 is making me sit on my upgrade until a Note 2 is released on Sprint.
Nope. Best device I've ever owned.
Never going back to CDMA, either. Love the flexibility GSM affords me.

If you're going to regret buying something because something (arguably) better gets released 8 months later,
then you might as well not buy anything at all.

You kind of had to know before hand that purchasing this would be outdated slightly since the s3 was due out for five months down the line. Plus Samsung treats the galaxy note line as if it were a [email protected]@rd orphan child that gets it hand me down.
It's a bigger phone so give me better specs dammit.
The firmware update mishaps , crappy battery ... need I say more?
It would be hilarious if the owners of xda launched a public service announcement national commercial listing evening wrong with the galaxy note.

.... If I were to change the note.... Longer battery life, maybe, more accurate pen in horizontal position, camera button, less mega pixel camera with bigger photo receptors, pen out light, more ram, and steel case to attach a chain to it so people can't ever steal my awesome awesome phone/star trek Data pad.
I'm future proof until 3d ar glasses come out.
Not even for a second, quad core phones are useless really, im glad things are moving forward and eventually quadcore will be utilized, but the only thing that could possible use al that processing power on phones is games, and there isn't asingle game out there tha exclusively for the power of quadcore, all the high spec games run fine on dualcore phones. So im not in any rush to upgrade ill upgrade after 12 months of having the note which is december. Hopefully the note 2 :-D

I won't be upgrading the Note till mid-2013 roughly, but I love my Note too so no worries.
I regret reading and replying to this thread.
Yes I do, for the simple reason that as soon as I went an bought mine, Samsung announced its successor, thereby making me spend more on the older model than I need have, and preventing me from buying the new one as soon as it comes out.:crying:
But then that's just how my luck runs.
C'est la vie....
I bought the note three weeks ago, so way after the s3 announcement. Had the s2 up to then. Made the choice because the s3 does not feel or look so nice (imo) and does not feel like a decent upgrade (don't get me wrong I do think it's the best phone out there, just not a huge upgrade to the s2).
The Note feels like a true upgrade, despite being basically the same specs, because screeeeeeen

I bought it since over 7 months now was my first android handset, but still did not grow on me this is at best one laggy OS most probably will get the next iphone but will surely miss both the big screen and the Flash support in the browser. However it was a very interesting experience.

Note 2....Don't see it getting any better than this!

Ok folks.....so i just got my Note 2 yesterday. Last night i'm messing around with it and i then have this thought. Where the hell does Samsung go from here? I mean i am so pleased with this phone....but then in the back of my mind i think "Wait a sec....they are gonna come out with ANOTHER one of these next year!" And me being the tech nerd that i am i will likely get it. But seriously....WHAT else can they do? lol I bought my first Note at the beginning of the year.....so that's 2 $700+ smartphones in one year. A little ridiculous to some i'm sure.....but next year when this time rolls around Samsung is going to have to do something TRULY revolutionary to get me to switch! So what do you guys think? I LOVE this phone....just can't see it getting much better. Discuss......:good:
Better processor. Better battery. Better camera. Improved design and materials.
Dude seriously get down to earth. Dont mean to be rude of course. What i mean is there is only space for improvement and sell you updated device later on.

6 inches? That's not going to pocket-able. You might as well have the tablet. Even 5.5 is pushing IMO. But, yeah as long as it fits in my pockets.

There are places for lot more improvements. Better battery (maybe using different technology), flexible display, stylus with built-in mic/speaker like the BT s-pen but smaller and included with in it, which charges when it's inside the Note (whoa!), wireless charging.. hmm

Nice wish list i must say!
Sharp started to product 5-inch 1080p screens...
If the Note 3 got this kind of screen, i'll buy it for sure.
I do agree that the note 2 is so snappy that a faster cpu is of questionable bang/buck. Android needs to get better with multi threading.
Bigger screen is possible with less bezel. You'd have to lose that Samsung logo.

This device may look fantastic today and i'm sure it is which is why i'm also planning on getting one as soon as possible.
However, as i upgrade every two years and not every year due to contracts new better devices released inbetween is not really a issue. There will always be better devices released, you just have to accept that fact. I'm sure Samsung has many cards up it's sleeve with new things they plan on implement in future versions of this and their other devices. Things like user experience, interface, artificial intelligence, better camera, software, input, raw power and interaction with external products. The whole experience can evolve so much more than compared to what it looks like today but these things needs time to grow slowly into what they will become.

Well they probably gonna come out eith a better processor ( exynos 5250 I believe its called based on the new A15 architecture), I know the note 2 is the fastest thing out right now but when that new exynos comes out next year, itll make this note feel like turtle speed. Samsung is gonna kill it. But I agree, yhis phone is so perfect that Im not sure what else we really need. Higher res screen and stuff like that probably. Note 2 is AWESOME!

I guess the Note III will offer the following specifications:
1. Quadcore Exynos 5250 @ 2 - 2.5 Ghz
2. 2 GB RAM
3. A 5.8-6 inch display, higher resolution
4. Multiband-LTE as standard in the GT-N7200 (i.e. the base model N7200 is an LTE device - no more 3G only) - support for US LTE together with EU LTE would be perfect
5. VoLTE
6. A 12 MP-camera, improved sensor and 1080p video recording
7. 32 and 64 GB onboard memory + microSDXC slot
8. Android 4.2(?) Key Lime Pie or 5.0 (assuming that 4.2 arrives later this month or in November and 5.0 lands in June 2013)
9. A premium body similar to this Note II concept: Note II mockup
10. Bluetooth S-Pen as standard
11. Further improved S-Pen feature set
12. Improved window mode features
Sure. For me also. It's the best ever. And I'll not shift easly.

For 1 I'd like to see the Snapdragon S4 Pro (quad-core) only because it's actually a fusion of A9 and A15 architecture (and smaller transistor size = less power leak = less heat and power use) which means better performance. Also, I'd like a much better GPU... what don't these manufacturers understand? Phones are beginning to be like PCs the bottleneck is ALWAYS the GPU nowadays... sure we have quad-core CPUs in Android phones, but all the iDevices have GPUs with almost double the performance, c'mon!

Yeah, I was hoping for the Toshiba 1080p 5" displays announced back in March I believe to start showing up (Toshiba did say they were going to show up in devices Q4 2012). I mean Oppo did release a 5" 1080p phone (at least announced it), I'd consider it, but I need my wifi-calling on T-Mobile (good for international calls as long as you got wifi and for places where tmo reception goes kaput).
Although I want to see some 5.3" 1920x1200 screens please

Cores alone do not a processor make.
The Exynos 5 Dual-core might turn out to be faster than the Exynos 4 Quad.
It has all to do with the architecture, design layout and fabrication process.
Two no-brainer upgrades for next year's model:
[1] 1080p screen
[2] Power-efficient CPU & SOC (low-power).
Screen size of 5.5" is good, no need to go bigger. CPU can be dual or quad core, as long as it has a newer architecture with low-power consumption.
I cant do more than 5.5 inch screen honestly. Anything bigger will be in the realm of tablets.

They can do much better
I had a look at the GN2 and I really like it for me it is the best phone on the market right now. But I will not buy it yet because I do not feel that it is so much better than my GN1.
Think that they could go even bigger and maybe get rid of more Bazel I also think that they can do so much more around multi tasking - I mean the real deal like windows. They should also marry a bigger screen to a higher Res. It would make it awesome to look at.
I also think putting in something like Pureview would not hurt.
Its not all sweetness & light..
The horrid back ground hiss that's on the S3 radio is still present here - Come on Samsung it's FM radio & it's horrid.
I get a loud crackle when moving tracks with the latest Poweramp...
They can fit a 6" screen into the current 5'5 Galaxy note size right now. It would have to be glass to glass touchscreen with no bezel (maybe some at the bottom for the buttons)
So the people complaining that the 6" phone would be too big, look at the galaxy note 1 vs galaxy 2..the screen got bigger but the overall size got slimmer

And that will be the extent of it.
Because you can make the device taller, but you can't make it wider. Even if you need two hands to use the device properly, the width has to be small enough to be held in one hand.
That is where the Note II shines.
It is the biggest phone out there right now, but people can still hold it in one hand.
I don't like screens where they use a chunk of it for on-screen buttons and use that portion as part of the screen measurement.

smaller battery than the 7.7, no OLED screen and compared to the ipad mini, the benchmarks seem lower (there is a link on sammobile comparing them). I do hope the performance will be better. If priced right, should be a nice tablet, but I feel there might a lot of tablets introduced at MWC this year.
It seems like they are going for the budget tablet crowd this time, that is too bad but who can blame them with the success of the 200 dollar tablets.
I really wanted to get a 8-9 inch upgrade for the 7.7 but worse battery life and screen will probably be a deal breaker for me.
No need. Quite vanilla. Pass.
Seems that 7.7 is srill best buy Got mine today! Awesome tab, not small, not large, and ability to use as phone, just superb!

rumor says same as Note 10.1 & 2
Doubt this will sway me over to upgrade. The specs look ****ty.
I just picked up a Nexus 10 and may eventually drop my 7.7 depending on usage scenarios. Lack of a completed CM rom (9, 10 or 10.1) due to Samsung is the main culprit. Maintainers for Exynos4 devices may not last much longer, which sucks ;[
on a brighter note, you can use it as your gps navigator, or you can even let the screen on for some time without worrying about burn ins.
Its not close. It simply sucks compared with the 7.7
Hopefully we'll get a JB update for our Tabs that will allow us to keep it long enough to see an update worth upgrading
Honestly Samsung can do better. Like a 1080p Super Amoled screen a battery a least the same size as the 7.7 (Come on the Note III is rumored to have a 5,000mA battery !! Bigger than this crap 8" Note !! Something' wrong there !), etc...
Would explain why Samsung are reluctant to provide the JB update for the 7.7 (at least not until these new tablets are available). 7.7 + JB would be tough to beat even with older processor
Guys the market has moved enormously since the 7.7 was announced and then launched.
When the 7.7 was announced the only real competition was Apple and the 7.7 was priced against the Ipad and component costs could therefore be quite high.
Since then prices for tablets have tumbled about 50% and as a consequence component costs have got squeezed.
While we all love the SuperA screens on our tabs I suspect the costings mean it's unlikely to be on another product anytime soon, everything after including phones has been Pentile screen AFAIK.
The next 'flexible' screen looks really interesting but I hate to think of the manufacturing cost and therefore how much the tablet will cost......
Sent from my GT-P6800 using xda app-developers app
I think breaking the current pixel barrier on 7 inch screens is something that all of the manufacturers are struggling with, especially with price expectations being what they are now compared to when the 7.7 was first released.

Comparison testing has shown AMOLED screens to have higher contrasts, deeper blacks, etc. Also better outside viewing & power consumption.
Not to say that Sony's Super Clear LCD is terrible...on the contrary, it can really shine in the right scenarios. I really think price point is the sole reason the Note 8.0 will be featuring it.
I'd be willing to place money on this being a sub $300 device
they should've made two of these, one aimed for the low-mid market (w/ LCD) and the one aimed for people with deep pocket
seriously, this is not a replacement for out 7.7 it's just another Note, just like the note 10.1 was made not as a replacement for Tab 10.1
Too bad, I was hoping for a 7.7 Note w/ the SAMOLED+ screen. I wouldn't even care as much about higher resolution, as I'm fine w/ the 7.7's and same specs as Note2 would satisfy me. What I do want is the stylus w/ airview, & MultiView as I sometimes wish my Note2 and 7.7 were one device.
^likewise, but what sammy did was lower down the bar just to compete with a lower spec'd iPad Mini, even our old 7.7 will whip the ipad easily, I've seen the mini, compared it side by side with my 7.7 and immediately, there's a striking difference in screen quality and resolution.
Then I remembered, the Galaxy tab 10.1 2 is another "DOWNGRADE" from the original 10.1
hey sammy should start making a new low budget tablet line tagged under NEBULA series LOL
well... at least it still has the earpiece?
http://www.sammobile.com/2013/01/24/leaked-samsung-galaxy-note-8-0/
honestly i am not sure who to blame here. Google decided to use a horrible ui for all tablets from 4.2 forward essentially using just a enlarged phone ui.
So in response samsung just made a huge phone hardware...
