Cases that don't ruin the curved edge feel? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
As the title describes, I am looking for a case for my Nexus 4 that doesn't get in the way of the curved side edges as I use Pie a lot and love the feel of that curved edge. Has anyone found such a case and would like to share?

You mean one that doesn't cover the sides right by the screen? If yes, mine doesn't, only the left one - but even the right side it's really minimal:
The case has a flip, idk if that's your taste - but has a high quality build, I bought from eBay:

That's almost exactly what I was looking for but I prefer the right edge to be the more exposed one. I'll probably end up getting that one if I don't find one I like better. Thanks for your photo, I wish more sellers on eBay provided photos like that.

Chipped the plastic bezel. Any advice?

Sadly, I know not to drop shiny new objects but unfortunately I dropped my nexus 7. Thankfully the screen is perfectly fine but I have chipped the silver bezel. Has anyone had any experience with any touch up products?
It may be the case that I could find a cheap nail varnish that would do the job but I do like the idea of trying something tailored for the job.
Any thoughts would be great.
Regards
Edit: I have chipped my dell xps which is a similar colour and also the handle to my fridge. I could buy in bulk as I probably will continue to use it.

Silver Sharpie might work. I used it to color the stylus button on my Galaxy Note S-Pen. Might have to retouch every month or so, but I think the color should be about right. http://www.amazon.com/Sanford-39108...81746&sr=8-4&keywords=sharpie+silver+metallic
Many thanks for the tip. Nice cheap fix.

Is it black underneath?
Just curious, since my bezel is black. I'd imagine if I was just painted plastic it will wear away.

I was thinking of using nail polish. Light silver would seem appopriate...?
It was black rubber (?) underneath. I'm surprised that the metallic finish Sharpie has worked so well but for the best part of the week no degradation. I'll be honest, I'll probably get an Asus cover from the play store when available in the UK as although the colour is spot on - I didn't prime or sand down prior to application so it still catches my eye.

I just had the same problem and am googling left right and center for fixes. How did this work for you? Do you have a pic?

Where to buy missing screws in the UK?

Hi,
I have the screen lift issue and when opening my Nexus up I see I have two screws missing. Searching around I've read they are 3.2 mm Phillips screws with M1.4 thread. I know nothing about screws and have tried searching google with no luck. Does anyone know where I can buy these so I can try and replace my missing ones? The guy at HMV said their stock is all the same shipment so if I get a replacement it's most likely to have the same issue.
Any hardware shop. B&Q for example.

Asus apparently decided your screen attachment is better without those two screws, and you are going to replace them. Why?

Put them in and watch that screen rise even more

really? So the only fix is the glue? I thought as some seem to be fixing their screen lift by tightening the screws it would work. Back to the drawing board I guess.

Give it a shot if you want, sod putting glue anyway near my screen, if its that bad take it back

The screen lift isn't too bad more worried about it getting worse in the future. I'm thinking about returning it but my Nexus is perfect bar this lift and with all the issues being reported I'm worried I'll get one with even more issues.

I have a little and a mean a little hardly even noticeable screen lift on the left hand side if u hold in portrait and type with ya thumbs its wear my hand would go, I'm not returning again I'm on my 3rd

Gap between top bezel and glass

Is this the way the phone is supposed to be? There's a small gap between the top part of the bezel where it meets the glass. I try to keep my phone clean all the time but there are quite a few lint pieces and grime stuck in that gap. The bottom of the phone is tight. Never dropped it. It is an RMA

I think you can snap it back. Press it gently and it'll close.

Tried pressing on it. Didn't work. Thanks though

As you can see the bottom is tight with no gap. The top has a big enough gap for dirt and debris and no way to get it out.

Definitely not normal, you should probably RMA again if you can't fix it by simple means like the one posted above

Thanks for your reply. All this time I thought it was normal

I have no gap on the top or bottom, and neither do any of the 5 others I know with N4s so yeah, RMA.
send that gaping gap back, son!
...before you get tiny creature eggs in them
Called google play customer service and started the RMA process. Thanks guys

Not going well with my RMA. This was customer service response :
"Thanks for contacting Google. The*specialists*has informed me that the*gaps are to allow for expansion of the glass due to varying temperature and is an intended part of the design.
If you have any*further*questions please feel free to*respond*to this email."
Can some of you guys take some photos of your phones so I can send this robot? Any other suggestions?

Dude, I think even with photos, you would be hard pressed to change their mind. Cosmetic faults are always put down as subjective and not worthy of replacement. You should have told them that you were experiencing some technical fault i.e. frequent dropped calls.
If you aren't successful this time round, RMA it again with such an excuse...

I have the same issue but my gaps are much bigger and go throughout the whole screen. Dust and stuff goes in it. The front camera has a dark overlay whenever i use it due to all the dust that has gotten in there. I would RMA it but i bought it off a friend and im not sure if they want to accept it.
Here is a picture of a white door that i took outside using the front camera.

Its very dark and it has a weird dark overlay at the top.

So when did they change the Nexus4's Design?

I have a brand new Nexus 4 that I got from the T-Mobile store just in the past week, My younger brother stopped by and also had a Nexus 4 he got back before February.
I noticed something odd though.
- His was slightly heavier
- His Slim door was looser
- He didn't have lil dimples on the back of his phone near the bottom
- The sides of his Nexus 4 didn't have a grooved feeling like mine did, but rather was straight flushed.
When did they change the design of the N4 and how many variations are there?

Mine only has two nibs at the bottom of the phone, and no mention of the grooved side.
(guess xda search is worthless compared to google)

Galaxy Round

http://m.pocketnow.com/2013/10/09/galaxy-round-curved-display
Did you guys see this one? Same specs but smaller battery, speakers on the back and no S Pen. Looks weird.
Is this the phone that people waited for instead of buying the note 3?

It looks like a neat product and I like the gestures and whatnot, but I have fallen in love with the S-pen and the ability to quickly write down notes and transfer them to my calendar, edit mms pics, and just send written text as mms (sometimes it cheers me up to send something goofy ). I'm sure Sammy could still integrate an S-Pen into a curved screen, but maybe with a smaller size. Ours on the N3 takes up a lot of real estate inside the phone. However, I like the brushed aluminum look and would still consider this phone if they came out with at least an aluminum bezel. I don't think anything will ever be as sexy as the Nokia 8800 I used to have.
Wouldn't be a little weird to write on a curved screen? I also do like the brushed metal though.
