Empty space between WiFi & Cell Indicator - Moto X General

In case anyone else is wondering, there's an empty space between the WiFi indicator and Reception Indicator. Your eyes aren't playing tricks.
if I had to guess, it's the space to indicate LTE/H+/other icons related to the cell. It's an odd design.

This has been on moto devices since at least the RAZR m. Personally I hate it. Never seen that gap on any other phone except a Motorola.

Not as simple as waiting for root. As the at and t bootloader is locked

Yeah I know. He's even on reddit throwing his "expert" opinion out there and concludes the HTC One is still better, so this doesn't really come at a surprise that he returned it. Just stop posting here if you have nothing good to say. I know Att sucks, but the phone itself is great.

I honestly can't remember the last phone I had that didn't have the carrier at the top....is this a common thing? I thought all phones had carrier names at the top by the signal bars to let you know whose towers you're on?

The space is there to show emergency call only if you don't have sim in.

I hate the gap. That's a Moto thing tho. On the One, both the ATT logo fade away when you have notifications (which is a nice medium) and the LTE icon remains present even when on WiFi.

I think what pisses me off most, aside from how ugly that disgusting branding is, is the fact that they have the audacity to do it. It's MY PHONE, made by SAMSUNG, Verizon had nothing to do with it.

God that is horrible. I can't say I'm surprised but still. HORRIBLE!
I'm sure someone will come up with a clever way to get rid of it should that be on the final product though.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Luckily I will get mine without any carrier branding on it but why Verizon tries to ruin devices original design? It is so pointless to put a carrier logo on each device because its not made by Verizon but by Samsung instead.
looks like a sticker to me. The button is much whiter than the rest of the device, and if you look at all the photos on Samsung website it isn't.
That HAS to be a sticker.
I've decided I really hope they do logo the button. Normally the logo is protected under glass so I can't scrape it off easily...the button though, ah...all too easy to remove/cover. Logos on the front of the phone need to die.
Haha that's Verizon for you. Largest 4G LTE in the US but its rocking the 3G.

Verizon always has to have its hand in the process somehow. From branding on the phone, to handling the updates. I wish Verizon would just focus on handling the network and leave the phone to the manufacturer.

Were you able to get wallet up and going? If you did then the rest of us may be able to bring it over the vzw and att. If we are able to change lines in our build prop to make it think its a sprint then install and set up wallet then revert back like we did with the s3. Might be some hope as long as the secure element is hidden somewhere.

on mine (Verizon version), there isn't really a gap, it just leaves the 4G icon, but the data arrows aren't
I think I see what OP is talking about, it separates the toggleable/changeable items from those that are permanent.
I don't know if that was intended or this is a bug and that is just coincidence, to me it almost looks like instead of hiding the 4g icon or w/e ATT just put a black square there so when on wifi the space for that 4g icon is still reserved.

I too think it's the 4G icon becoming all black. I don't like it either.
Were lucky we can remove, adjust, flash and customize our phones , when I had my first cell phone back in 93 customizing it hahahahaha, not even in the same ball park, I had a better chance of flying to the moon. Xbox one, well look at it at Microsoft's view point. Windows 8 is a total bust! The only item left that makes the big bucks is the Xbox, Xbox live , at this point if they planned on releasing the Xbox one with all the original requirements, people would flocked over to the ps4, leaving Microsoft as the new IBM, just my opinion

right. I was referencing at the "feeling" of it, not to any specific comment. that's why I didn't quote anyone. but if you ask me, then no, I would not care so much that I wouldn't buy the phone. We are moving directly to 4.4. I dont like to discuss timing. It just puts a lot of stress on the team, and there is always a chance we find something which delays us a bit.

i dont mind this at all.
i mean i don't get caught up in the version numbers per se, but the features.
i honestly am not really sure what is so different about 4.2 and even 4.1 other than it hink some stuff in the settings bar is slightly different. 4.3 added trim support natively but from the anandtech review i know moto backported that to their version of 4.2.2. so that doesnt matter either.
4.4 at least i figure is a big enough jump. before the moto x i was using a razr M on 4.1.2 and honestly i can barely tell the difference OS wise between any of these (and i had 4.3 on a nexus 7 for a while, honestly all the jelly bean labeled 4.1-4.3 variants are basically the same)

i dont mind this at all.
i mean i don't get caught up in the version numbers per se, but the features.
i honestly am not really sure what is so different about 4.2 and even 4.1 other than it hink some stuff in the settings bar is slightly different.

Well besides trim it also adds opengl 3.0 support, which every currently retailing Nexus device supports.
