Time to say Goodby to HD2 - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I believe it's time to move on and get a new device already. My HD2 had a long and fulfilling carrier (4 years). it was flashed about a million times, with all kind's of OS's.The hardware buttons are not working so good anymore, and the screen started to fade. It is working perfectly normal, the SlimRom is on it and i think it'll probably be the last one that i flashed.
Now I have my eyes on Xiaomi Mi2s. What do you guys think of it?

i ‘m a chinese,in China ,Xiaomi MI2s is 1999 RMB,
Advantage:Strong configuration
Shortcomings:severe fever
I recommend you to buy MEIZU MX2 or HTC

i think it's the best phone ever but the chronic problem of screen display is annoying, i will wait for htc hd3

I have got an HD2 and a OneX, and in my opinion, even if the OneX is much more powerful and is much newer, i do prefer HD2: I simply adore it, i've tried many roms, many android versions and every time a new version of android is released, it ends out that HD2 can run it... i really hope mine will never break, otherwise i will cry a lot
moreover, I would like to thank all of the developers that never let that phone die
just like twoxx said, i too suggest you to buy a new hd2, it's probably the only device in the world that can run so many different OS...

lost the plot
broke the hd2 that I still have, and probably will never let go...
A new age A new time

this is very bad , buy a new HD2

Are there others having the same problem?
Or are there some who have solution for this problem?
Edi

It's 1.48.403.1 version.
Yes 2 times.
Try 1.61, its much faster and better... Or any cooked ROM (from Miri or Itje)
I will try it!
Hope that it would help.
Thanks for your help..
With latest official italian rom from HTC, us have many small problems, sometimes big, but need frequently sof-reset..
May be Linux, Maemo, Android or similar ...this is windows ehhh
Regards
Android would be cool on HTC HD 2
My goodness me, iphone? Android? come on! dont be so disrespectful ppl are working day and night to bring the means for custom ROMs, its very early days for HD2 it wouldnt hurt anyone to follow the guidelines!
Personally, love and I'm very grateful to all developers and supporter which help all us every day. Windows is a Microsoft product, not xda product.
However, must be realist. My first windows mobile device was qtek9090. Unfortunately, I not speak english well. However, with windows mobile every day must soft reset the device, from 2003 with qtek9090, after with qtek 9100 and qtek9000, now with HD2, is so.
I have one iPhone 3Gs(jailbreaked)too and I leave it running for more the one month, install on it many programs and play with it, but never lost a call because the device doesn't resume from the standby, never freeze, never must soft reset it because the software malfunction. Now I ask, why??
Regards

Agree. HD2 has "early stage" issues as all new devices. remember that it took a year to implement mms in iPhone OS and be patient
Do not misunderstand me.
I love my HD2.
But when it comes to stability, Windows Mobile is not one of the best.
I realize that this is a new mobile, and I know it gets better every day.
My criticism is when its freezes.

I have witnessed the freeze problem right after I have flashed radio 2.0.6
With stock ROM 1.48 - no freeze
SSPL Dutty HG, and kept radio 2.0.5. from stock ROM - no freeze
HSPL radio 2.0.6 - froze 4 times in the past 24 hours. When phone goes idel (black screen) it may not come back alive. i am going to try to flash radio 2.05 and will see.
BigE
mine freezes aswell
BigE
my HD2 has frozen 4 times now, and I've had to take the battery out
ROM 1.48.405.2
Radio Version 2.05.51.05_2
i have noticed when i take the head phones out after listening to the radio i loose sound as well and have to restart
going to call htc now

Please forgive me...

After talking with several people, as well as with T-Mobile tech support... it seems that I can change the OS on my HTC HD2 from Windows to Android; is it really possible or have I misunderstood what I was/am hearing?
If I can change the OS to Android... is their a Froyo 2.2 release that will work for me out there?
TIA
Yup, you can change it. I'm running android on mine. It's not perfect but its' damn close to it. Oh, did the tech tell it'll void your warranty?
Take a look.

Thank you for the response... I was told about the warranty implications and am OK with that.
Two questions... What is a good version and since you said "damn close to it" what is the downside?

You should try several for yourself. I'm currently using Bangsters V1.2 (without sense). I said damn close because some builds have trouble with bluetooth, Screen of Death (screen wont project anything just black screen) <===requires you to pull your battery off, but wont kill your phone. Also screen freezes tend to be the biggest problem. Keep in mind that android with will in development and has barely been released for the HD2 about 2 months ago.
Bangster's only glitch is a screen freezes for about 5 seconds and then recovers but it doesn't happen often. Oh, and no bluetooth. Try a couple builds out they're not bad at all. I use android daily for now.
And try a different windows rom that make a huge difference. Energy Roms are hands down the best.

[Q] Is it worth to flash now to Mango or should we wait ??

hey all,
As all have seen in the forums, there is a beta of mango which is already running on our HD2's.
My question is:
Is it really worth to flash now or should we wait for later??
Which bugs have been registered with our devices until now?
Are they serious or only small bugs??
Thx in advance
I have noticed that several apps do not work properly on Mango. Either lagging or crashing. I reverted to nodo..
If you want to do some experiments then flash Mango now. If you need stable good work without waiting next unexpected reboot use Yuki V5.
A lot of bugs from small to big in Mango now .....
i think it's not the right place to open this thread, but, you have to try it
it has A LOT of bugs, everywhere.. in IE9, apps, etc etc etc
you can call and write sms, you have only 5 lenguages, and, not all apps work, so, if you need a stable phone, i adviced you to change to mango even if it works normally in phone functions
if you want to try the new speed, right, you can come back, sure!
so, simply you have to try if the bugs isn't big issues for you
I'm using Mango and am amazed how well it works. I encountered one real bug so far, in IE9. It doesn't seem to like Edge data networks. One other semi-bug is sometimes the links in the XDA website don't work...maybe it's just super slow loading, though.
Otherwise, all that I've tried so far works splendidly. Last night I used the Bluetooth to connect to a BT shelf speaker and it worked without a fault.
I can't say how it might work on a Euro HD2, but my T-Mobile US HD2 loves it. I also think Mango might handle video response differently for producing colors because the color reproduction on my HD2 running Mango is fantastic. I compared the display to my Focus, which runs Super AMOLED display and they are almost identical in color and the HD2 looks cleaner, crisper and has better white production than the Focus.
If you have a US HD2, go for it. I'm keeping mine because I like that much.
I have TMOUS. I did two attempts to flash this very green Mango, but couldn't live with it well. When I flashed and used mango i tell myself it is just small problem soon will be OK... bug... then another bug.... then during phone book loading to blueant reboot.... another reboot.... then apps don't work... so many more... So i can say my phone absolutly doesn't like Green Mango.
I finaly say - No can't live with it when perfectly working in all aspects NODO present. Went back to V5 NODO and so happy now again!!! But will wait of course final mango.
DO NOT FLASH HD2 MANGO!
Not worth it at all. It's all way to buggy and slow. It's almost like when android was first discovered onto our Leo devices- slow and cruddy but definitely has a future!
Thx for your feedback guys
I will not flash it, will wait for the final version
Have a nice weekend!!

Good choice. It was fun to experiment with, just to check it out. But as others have said it's waaaaayyy too buggy. 3rd party apps don't work, even some official apps like ebay don't work. Proximity sensor in-call doesn't work, so lots of hanging up or putting people on hold with cheeks, lol. IE9 is horrible in this build. Only Facebook integration works in the OS, etc. But I can tell you when it is done & we get a fully functional mango rom, it will be amazing!!!

Hmmm...you maybe should try the one from elfinlazz. It works splendidly and I just checked the PS and it worked like normal WP7. I did check the eBay app and couldn't get it to work. But it seems this elfinlazz ROM is closer to an actual WP7 than any of them.

I'll check, but it's never given me issues with any other WP7 roms. And I also have the class 4 sandisk 16 gb. But now that I'm back on Yuki's NoDo, it's running perfect again. Appreciate the help though.

Wish I had that kind of luck with the battery! Without any use it would last around 3 hours. With average use I'd get an hour of battery. Tried the cam trick & changing radio, but nothing wild improve it for me. Guess it's luck of the draw when it comes to battery & stability with the green mango roms. Still it does have some awesome new features. Can't wait for a ripe one.

It's pretty much impossible to "break" an HD2 by flashing Android on it.
You can even have them run it from SD at first using haret (no flashing required) so he gets to love Android?
What happened to yours?
Windows mobile is out of date, but Android is going forward. It is better to just flash the NAND, not trying to SD. I, too, at first afraid to flash NAND, but when I did it, I felt the difference! Just read the instructions carefully on the firmware and all is well!

Well,
I personally would stay out of such 'convincing methods'. If that person doesn't want to do it himself, convincing him will put you into responsibility and he will blame everything on you if something goes wrong or he simply doesn't like Android. I am not sure if this is worth it risking a friendship over ... !
I do agree with Junner2003. But if it is a must I would put Android Nand rom on sd memory card. That way they can fully choose and use both to test out and see if they like Android. I set my phone up this way and since then I have never booted into WindowsMobile again. I fell in love with Android right away. I do have it set up to boot automatically so if I want I can stop the auto boot and boot into windows instead of android.

Not sure if I'd agree with that, there seems to have been lots more nand errors leading to stuck radio/spl since we started partitioning. It could simply be that the hd2 has been in the wild for near two years, and so more are starting to fail, but still seems to be more prevalent in android flashing threads than winmo.
Edit + 1 to junner2003
Well.....I told my friends to flash Android and they said "Holy smoke, can i do that? Show me how! Woooohooo!"
Now; i don't know about your friends but you have to make some new ones. I believe "nerds" is the right name for them! Look for them! The will definitely want to use Android on their HD2.

Ohhh.. just kidding mate. I agree with the other guys, flash Android on your phone and show to your friends that nothing happened to your device and it's awesome. The next day???? Flash Windows Phone 7 and show them again that your device is more awesome! On the very next day they "Will break Down"!
But be careful not to break it...Again! Just....follow the steps and everything would be fine!
Search the forum for all the tools you may need and don't hesitate to post your concerns and problems here so we "experts" can help you out!

[Q] HD2 Damaged - Move on or not?

My HD2 has seen better days - the screen is cracked and the micro USB port is not working. It will cost about £120 to get both issues fixed. My question is --- should I get it fixed or move to a "proper" Android phone, is the HD2 still the best there is or do other phones do Android better?

Hi - please can you create a new thread with your question as it does not relate to my original question.
In short the thread for the Android ROM you are wanting to load will have the necessary instructions for flashing it to your phone. AND spend as much time as you can reading and re-reading the variosu threads on how to do this. If you get it wrong you could permanently damage your phone. If you have any specific questions then search the forums for answers, and if you need to ask a new question please start a new thread.
Thanks

Use the search button and don't hijack other people's threads. Are you seriously that stupid?!
@OP, Sadly I would say that it's time to move on. I compared my HD2 to my friend's SGS2 and another friend's Sensation, and they are a lot better. £120 is a bit much though, I got my HD2 brand new from O2 (or rather, my Dad did, I'm only 14) for £187.
Yea I been thinking the same thing, my HD2 has seen better days (Power Button) and thinking about upgrading to the Amaze 4g, bought my wife a Sensation a few months back and its pretty cool, basically the same just a little better specs, so i think it's close to the end, at least for me, had it since launch day.

Yeah I feel the same way, but the end is near, but it will be a great back-up phone. The only reason I haven't upgraded yet is the possibility of the Galaxy Nexus coming to T-Mobile, but regardless, I will be upgrading within the month.
