Is this post really what I think it is? "Why won't people give me more things for freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"
Because this actually costs them money to offer and they're businesses, and you don't deserve anything from them? That's the way things work. The customer pays money in exchange for services. If you don't pay, then you can bet that anything you get is in return for some of your data.
Some services offer more space, like Bitcasa or Bittorrent Sync*, but everything has a trade off of some sort.

Not everything can be free mate. Since you already have 50GB at box, why not use that? I'm not sure what you mean that it's not good for pictures, whats wrong with it?
Since you don't want to pay for anything, it doesn't leave you with that many options does. If I were you, I would just pay for one of them and stick with it. Google drive is really cheap with only 4.99 a month... And that gives you a 100GB of space.

I don't know how you only have 7gb on dropbox. I have 52gb just from sharing with one person I think. Google drive gmail and Google plus offer a total of 15gb and seem to work best for me.

$25 Credit?

Quick question -- I've preordered a Nexus 7 16gb and i wanted to use the $25 to grab some tablet apps on my Nook while i wait for it. Only issue is, the credit isn't showing up in my payment options...
Do you get the credit upon ordering, or is that when you activate it?
it looks like you get the credit once the new device is activated. at least, that's how it looked from the google videos.

We get Transfomers: Dark of the Moon, The Bourne Dominon (book), and a couple magazines. Plus the $25 credit, of course.
Question
Is everybody who buys this tablet now or in the store getting 25$ giftcard and films or just the one who are pre-ordering it in Google Play Store?

It says for a limited time, so I assume just those who are pre-ordering. Or the first round of pre-orders, who knows.
I do think it is good the credit/movies and all that will just come on the device. Easiest way to do it.
Strategy
In their developer conference they said that it is new strategy to customers buy more products in Google Play, but he did not say if all tablets have that 25$ gift
provided all pre-ordered devices will get $25 gift.what happens if the device is activated outside US,UK, and Australia? will there still be $25 gift in the form of other currency? thanks

When I ordered mine (Canada), it did showed credit being applicable. Anyways, with the amount of taxes we pay - I guess Google hand out pro-rated credits
Does the credit apply to the play store as a whole, meaning can this credit be applied toward the case or other accessories?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the free credit will show up once your card has been placed and the order shipped and it probably applies to apps or media. The free book, movie and magazines will probably only be accessible if you log into google play from the US or Canada, The UK or Australia the only places where legit pre-orders are available right now.
If you pre-order one and you log in for the first time outside of those countries, you will not be able to access that part of the play store and download the free media. I may be wrong and it all comes pre-loaded but I have a feeling otherwise, I guess we will have to wait and see.
Okay, so the free credit (£15 per device - from the UK); I've ordered 2 tablets together - to save on postage. One for my wife and one for someone else, I ordered it while logged into my google account and unticked the option that said to register the devices to me (as obviously my wife and friend have their own google accounts).
So how will it know to assign the credit to them, is this built into the tablet rather than via the store? Sorry I'm a bit confused and don't want to lose out on the £30 total credit.

Perhaps a card is given in the packaging with a number similar to a credit card number and when you go to input a credit card you type in this number so you can pay with it like that; and then perhaps you can choose between using a credit card or using the gift card.
Credit is given when the actual device is activated.
Credit goes to the Google account used for that activation.

Why $100 for +16G?

Any ideas why Google (and Apple for that matter) charge $100 for an additional 16GB of memory?
It probably costs them a fraction of that to add that much memory.
Also, if they make money out of the content the sell, wouldn't be interesting for them to have their consumers tablets have LOTS of memory?

yeah right People who want to buy the best version, give google and samsung the most money, should have to pay proportionately more? I understand why they do it, but it's silly to say that complaining about it is a sign of entitlement. Their most serious and loyal consumers are the ones who will shell out for the more expensive versions, so gouging them on the memory is a bit shady. For $100 bucks more it would've been more reasonable to give 64GB, especially considering the lack of micro SD. I'm not playing that game, 16GB version for me. They still would've made more profit from me by giving a reasonable valuation to the extra memory.
---------- Post added at 01:34 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:29 AM ----------
16GB... should cost them 8-10 dollars extra, at most. So there's a 90 dollar markup on the memory, while the rest of the tablet surely has a much, much lower margin. Not to mention, Google sells content. That's a revenue stream that may be damaged by giving users less memory. Then again, Google skirts that by streaming much of it, though only if there's a constant internet connection available. The Nexus 10 is looking like a winner either way, but it would've been more compelling with better memory options, and google may have sold more of the expensive version, as well as more content through google play.
Be happy there is a 32gb option at launch. I'm still unhappy there is no 32gb option on the Nexus 4.

Great, then charge the same as for the Nexus 7, $50 extra for 16 gigs. That would still be something like 400% profit. They're pricing it at 900% profit... who's entitled, again?

It's highway robbery. I mean it's literally 100 dollars for 16GBs of storage.
The good thing is you don't have to pay an extra $100 unless you want to.At least there is a cheaper 16gb model so you have a choice.
I think they do it because Apple has already proven the market will bear it.If on a fence just wait a couple months and maybe like the N7, prices will drop and you can get a better deal.I am sure soon they will come out with a 64gb model with 3g radio because Apple has it.A couple months is not that long to wait if it makes you happier about your purchase.Who knows...by then there might be another hot new tablet that we might want even more.

The pricing/storage decision that Google made left such a bad taste in my mouth, I will not even be buying the 16GB. I've held off on purchasing a tablet ever since the N10 was just a rumor, so to lose me as a sale is no small feat. The decision to ship a ridiculously inept charger with the tablet just puts it over the edge.
Sadly there are people that are willing to pay $100 for 16GB, so Google will not think twice about pulling this again... it boggles my mind.

And I will certainly be exercising that right. I also have a right to speak out against the exorbitant pricing, just like the OP.
In my opinion, they do that so the prices between the 16GB & 32GB aren't too close. Because why would you pay for the 16GB tablet if the 32GB tablet costs 10 dollars more? No one would buy the 16GB now would they? Unless they were nuts or have some kind of fetish for the number 16 hahahaha xD

$10 yes. But didn't have to be $100. I'd say $399 for the 16GB and $449 for the 32GB would be reasonable.
Do not buy it then. Simple. Be grateful there is a 32gb version.
I'd kill for a Nexus 4 32gb at $399 personally!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
well, apparently, the issue is, that both are available.
if you have a problem with the price, look at it the other way around:
is a nexus 10 with 32gb worth 499$?
certainly it is, compare that price and the features to the transformer prime or infinity, or maybe even the ipad or surface.
and then there is an even cheaper option, where you get basically the same device for 399$ and only lose a few gb of storage.
then think about what data you reeeeally need on a 10" tablet (w/o 3G).
do you need dozens of hours of offline music to go jogging with the device? NO. not portable enough. also, google play music.
do you need to store a bazillion hi-res photos on the device? NO. use picasa.
do you need to store 74 full hd movies on it? NO. stream them or use usb otg with cheap flash drives.
this is a 10" tablet without 3G for crying out loud, it can be assumed, this device is used at home on the coffee table, with constant wi-fi connection. for nearly everything, you can use google's online services (play music, play movies, picasa etc.), also there is cloud storage, google drive, dropbox, box, skydrive, etc. for portable expandable storage, use flash drives.
the only thing that remains to be stored on the device, is game data (gameloft, rockstar, madfinger etc.) and for only this, 16GB should be enough, if you don't play a dozen of them at the same time. maybe the bard's tale, with 3.7 gb, will put a dent in that, but still.
this is the attitude i will assume when i buy my device and with all those possibilities, if i were too cheap to go for the 32gb model, i could still get the 16gb one and feel good about the capacity.

Hah! You are guilty of the same dream, an extra 16GB for just $50. Leaving the Nexus 7 aside, where it miraculously is possible, and taking a clue from the Nexus 10 and every other device with storage options out there, the 32GB Nexus 4 would be $449.
I'd still get that, though, as unlike the tablet the phone does have to carry around a lot of data for me. :/
For the Nexus 10, I will have to work with wired or wireless external storage and (un)installing the bigger games based on what I am playing atm.

How much does DropBox cost?

I get kind of leery when I get something for free for a time, then have to pay for it.
I understand that I the Note comes with 50G on DropBox free for 2 years.
Checking their web page I can't get a clear answer on how much it would cost me after that.
I keep in mind that right now you can get a 8G card for about $6, and should be able to get 32G for about $10 in two years.
Plus even in these times of inflated HD prices I can get 2T for about $70.
9.99 per month for 100gb
19.99 per month for 200gb
49.99 per month for 500gb
Not worth it for most I would think.
I also have the free 50gb but also have 10gb on top of that. You can get a lot free space by referring, and tweeting.
Dropbox is not the same as having an micro sd card. Any file I'm working on is automatically available to open my phone, tablet or desktop. It saves me the trouble of having to manually transfer to each device.
It's not really meant as permanent storage for your files, just a way for all your devices to have access to them. I still save the files from dropbox to my local memory using "file sync", which is also automatic.
If your looking for a place to store your media files such as music, Google Music is free for 20,000 songs.(does not go by size of file, only by number of tracks)

Galaxy Perks = $600+ in what world?

Ok so I'm wondering how they get that the Galaxy Perks for the Note 10.1 2014 are worth "over $600".
Lets break it down:
Samsung Hub ($50) by the way this Samsung Hub sucks, they have very few books, their movies are insanely over priced to rent or buy and I'd rather get my apps from the Google Play Store.
Google Play ($25) - Only worth wild thing I've used so far
Audible ($44.85) this doesn't even seem like a good deal, 1 free book a month for 3 months? (eh ok if you sign up on their website you get the first month free so I'm taking this down to $29.9
Hulu Plus (23.85) - 2 months free
Boingo ($119) - Free Wifi? Ok not to sure how this works yet
SirusXM Internet ( $44.97) though if you sign up on their website you get 1 month free so dropping this to $29.98) Also its only for new customers so if you got Sirus your SOL.
Zinio ($10) - Digital Magazines?
Ok so now we are at $287 or $317.67 if I didn't subtract anything.
So where is the missing $283+ perks?
$6 USD = $1 Samsung dollar :good:

On the other hand, I set a pretty low value on all the rest of it, so there we go.

Unfortunately, they had the same off a year ago when I bought my original note 10, and so I already have the 50gb for 2 years. And it seems you can't get the offer again, even though this is a new and different tablet.
I may write to Dropbox and attempt to blag an extension, worth a try

If I understand correctly what you're asking, no, you can't use it for two accounts. I've had the bonus added to my account, then tried to login to a different account (after flashing stock rom to get rid of root), but didn't get the bonus. Seems that it's tied to one device?

Convert the $50 Google Play credit to Gift Cards

I already have about $50 in Play Store Credit. I'll get another $100 from two Nexi purchases. I wish there was a way to convert that credit into Google Play Store Gift Cards so I can gift them. It's still a Google Play Store Gift card and goes straight to Google. I just don't understand why Google doesn't allow us to do something this simple and obvious. Anyone have any workarounds to make something like this possible?
I saw some suggestions on creating an App that takes in-app payments and using it. Seems convoluted and I'd lose 30%. But I guess I may just try that.
That is convoluted, but if you were going to not be able to use it at all in a year it would be better than losing it.
Edit: does it work to pay for Google Music? Maybe try that?
Because if they allowed you to exchange them for a physical gift card you can resell them to a number of sites that buy gift cards. Most if not all of them do not accept e-gift cards or cards that expire like the Nexus gift.
Ebay does not allow selling e-gift cards either (although plenty do). I'm not sure what happens if you get flagged on eBay selling an e-gift card.
To be honest I don't really know what the credit can be used for. I guess whatever crap that's on the play store like music and movies which I can probably get for free otherwise?
I'll likely just use it to support app developers and buy paid versions of their stuff.

I'm pretty sure you are just emailed a code for the $50 when ordering the phones. So all you have to do is give that code to the person you want to gift it too and they redeem it

That's right. I already got the code for the 6P which will arrive tomorrow. The problem with the $50 code is that it's a lot for a single person. But if I could have split it into 2 $25 or the $100 into 5 $20, it would make a much easier gift to give to family and friends.
I already have paid apps for any apps that I use. I have a few in the wish list, but nothing really compelling. I'm never going to buy any of the ridiculously priced movies. I get most of my music from Amazon. But most of my music is really ripped from my CDs. Google doesn't have a particularly good India music collection.
