HOW TO Install CM 10.2 (Android 4.3) for Razr M (xt907) - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am running CM 10.2 by Skrilax - http://skrilax.droid-developers.org/cm10.2nightly/razrqcom/index.php?device=xt907 (Might be fine with the DHacker version also, but this is what I used.
Pretty much everything seems to work including GPS. I do not have Bluetooth anything so I can't speak to that. Some (maybe most) people seem to have difficulty getting it installed, but it can be done. There are a few tricks to it. Here's what worked for me:
I highly recommend using TWRP 2.6.0 as that's what I use and I know it works. Not sure whether other recoveries will function the same or not.
What you need:
1. The most recent version of CM 10.2 from the link above.
2. Gapps Core 4.3 - http://goo.im/devs/BaNkS/GApps 4.3
3. Root for 4.3 - http://download.chainfire.eu/342/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.43.zip
1. Erase everything except the external sdcard. Do it three times. (Don't ask, just do it.)
2. Also Format Data - what the heck, do that 3 times too.
3. Install the CM 10.2 ROM, wipe dalvik and cache again and reboot into the system. DO NOT install anything else at this time for best results.
4. Let the OS boot all the way to the desktop.
5. Unlock the developer options by going into Settings\About Phone and tapping 8 times on Build number. (Only needs done one time, updates do not hide it again.)
6. In Developer options, change Root Access to "Apps and ADB". (Go ahead and set up whatever else you want in Settings.Do not install any apps or updates at this time.)
7. Reboot into Recovery. Install Gapps Core 4.3
8. Clear dalvik and cache and reboot into System. If it hangs on the Motorola logo, get back into Recovery and format data again. (This is why I said don't install apps or updates yet.)
9. Once the phone boots all the way, reboot into Recovery again and install Root using Supersu 1.43.
10. Clear dalvik and cache and reboot into System. If it hangs on the Motorola logo, get back into Recovery and format data again. (This is why I said don't install apps or updates yet.)
11. Once System has booted, you can update SuperSu in the Google Play Store. The first time you open it, it will want to update the binary. It's very important that you choose the option to do it from Recovery. Your phone will reboot into Recovery, update the binary and then boot back into System.
12. Once all this is done, so are you. Restore your apps, allow Google Play to do any updates, and customize the layout to your tastes.
Note: Once you get a successfully installed 10.2 setup, you can dirty flash the nightlies. Always clear dalvik and cache. And always backup your apps before flashing anything if you want to make your life easier.
ENJOY!!!

Going to give it a go with CWM I'll let you know how it goes.

Well I got the rom to work but I could not get it to boot after loading gapps. I tried wiping data but no joy!

Hey, Thanks for the very clear update instructions - I'm now on CM 10.2!
I am not able to successfully root though. SuperSU complains:
"There is no SU binary installed and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!
If you just upgraded to Android 4.3, you need to manualyl re-root - consult the relevant forums for your device!"
I have tried to reflash the SuperSU zip posted here multiple times to no avail...
Thoughts?
EDIT: Solved with http://download.chainfire.eu/345/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.51.zip

Flashed TWRP and I was able to get it up and running having the same issue with root going to try the file above and I'll update again.

I'm still having issues. I got the root to work but everytime I reboot the device I have wipe data or it hangs on the boot logo.

Restored back to carbon rom 1.8. I may try again after a few more dailies are out. As this is my primary device I can not have the issues I saw. Admittedly it may be something that I did wrong and not the rom.

Got this up and running last night and no issues so far for me. I'm wondering though if any custom kernels work with 10.2? I was curious about the vanquishpuppiesn12 kernel.

You must not have followed every step exactly. The process I outlined works flawlessly if it is followed exactly. I'm glad you were able to resolve it though. You ended up with the same result and that's what matters!

can you confirm if rear mic is working when taking videos? this has been the only hangup for me on the 4.2.2 ROMs...
I doubt it, since that functionality is probably kernel related, but still just curious...
thanks!

Ok I noticed that I had somehow installed the wrong TWRP I installed 2.6.0 today and I have so far had good luck phone is up and running and seems to be stable. At first I had some issues with a few apps throwing errors during the mass install when I sync'ed with Google but a manual download after and they installed just fine. Also the new camera app called focal has some issues for me it opened and took pics but images in gallery are blank. However the stock camera app seems to working fine at least for stills I have not tried video yet.

I've got this all working too, including root. But I've been noticing about a second delay when pressing power to unlock the phone. Sometimes it delays so long that I press power again. So when the phone does wake up, the screen goes off again from my double press of impatience. I'm running the 0907 nighlty

FWIW, never needed to wipe data multiple times and I flashed everything at once. That said, still a good procedure to follow
Also, @georgeascott, that's a known bug. It tends to SOD on occasion... Not much to do to fix except maybe overclocking

Any plans for safe strap support? My bootloader is apparently permanently locked. Stock isn't terrible.. You can disable and hide bloatware.. But it would be really nice to have pie instead of soft buttons and restart and screen shot on the power menu

Probably not, but you can get some of that functionality with root alone if you know how to mod systemui and stuff like that. Probably not the answer you're looking for but that's probably what it is...
Can always hope someone will Dev for it though

but it all doesn't work so smoothly
Scrolling and everything is kind of choppy, I mean it is definitely livable, but still choppy.

netizenmt,
Thx a lot for your help. I`m now on cm10.2, too.
But there seemed to be some bugs.
1.I cannot install any apps from Google Play Store, or it hangs on the MOTO logo after reboot.
2.I can take calls, but cannot reach the 3G network.
P.S.When I try to use QPST to configure the phone, the QPST tells Serious error encountered, write to phone aborted.

I've installed CM10.2 two weeks ago and everything is working great! The first time I flashed it I got stuck at the CM boot animation... After ten minutes spent watching it I forced it to reboot: stuck again. At this point I booted back to recovery, followed thoroughly netizenmt instructions (wipe three times, really!!!), installed CM10.2, Installed gapps, installed supersu v1.43 and so on (follow all the steps netizenmt told us!)... Everithing worked fine then. At this point I changed build.props to make the phone works in GSM mode.

If you go to settings/developer options and scroll down to HW overlays. Check the box to disable HW overlays. That should help with the tearing/chopping.

Also, maps FC all over the place as soon as you're using GPS.

[Q] Rooted, CM 10.1, clean rom, now stuck...need help!

Hey, I could really use some guidance here. I'll present the information as simply as I can:
I bought a Galaxy s4 AT&T a few days ago. I've been interested in rooting and flashing different roms, but I think I may have done a bit too much.
I rooted using the motochopper method - great, worked like a charm.
I made a backup of my original rom using CWM. I even took that backup and saved a copy of it on my Mac - perfect.
I thought I'd try Cyanogenmod 10.1, so I downloaded the latest nightly build and flashed it using CWM - so far so good.
Everything was working fine, but my LTE (or any data) was not working at all. I could use Wifi, but once I turned wifi off, I had no data, no gps, no 3g, no 4g, no LTE. I tried the *#*#4636*#*# method, the LTEOnOff app, and changing my APN based on the recommendations provided in this thread - I just couldn't get it to work.
I thought I'd try restoring my original backup, but when I went into CWM to do so, it said that my backup could not be found...(I still have a backup on my computer, just in case)
I needed my phone to work, and badly needed LTE to do so. So, I downloaded this rom: [ROM] CleanROM 1.0 -★| Clean and Smooth! | The Way Nature Intended! |★-
So far, this rom was working fine - it's just a debloated version of TouchWiz - which I like. But, here's my problem now - If my phone reboots, it stays frozen on the Samsung logo (with unlocked lock logo underneath), and I can't get past it. I'd have to go BACK into recovery, and flash the CleanROM all over again, and set my phone up as new with all data wiped.
I really need my phone to work again, and I don't know where to go from here. What options do I have left? What can I do to get out of that frozen Samsung loading screen? Can't I just reset my phone to the way it was? Can't the CM10.1 rom work with LTE?
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Your best option is to flash the stock MDB firmware via odin . After you get the PASS on Odin go ahead and manually boot into stock recovery and wipe data factory reset again then reboot. You will have to re root and reinstall recovery but this will take care of any issues you had from a bad flash.

Having the same issue so I figured I'd give these steps a shot. Followed them exactly and phone (AT&T S4, TWRP) would won't even reboot the first time into CleanROM. I'm stuck on the Samsung screen with the lock.
edit: I've noticed that now, when I reboot into TWRP, it prompts me for a password. Hitting cancel takes me to the regular home screen, but I had not been getting the password prompt before attempting to install CleanROM. A permissions issue, perhaps?
edit 2:
I've just spent some time trying a bunch of things with bits of good luck surrounded with tons of bad. Below are the steps I've taken to try to get CleanROM to boot (and reboot) without any issues. Hopefully they help figure out the issues we're having.

I can't speak for OP, but I was hoping there was another way to rectify what has already been done without flashing stock seeing as how I'm on OSX. If that's the only option, then so be it.
Hey. Thanks for the feedback in this thread. I flashed factory through Odin, and everything is working fine. I then factory reset my phone through factory recovery. I'm back to standard touchwiz with all the bloat lol.
I'm going to wait until there a more stable release of cm10.1 - that was a good rom.

As I mentioned before starting over is always the Best and Safe way to go. Shortcuts will only cause you headaches and possibly get you a brick that is why you see Odin stock threads. Do yourself a favor and start over I know it sucks but when your modifying your phones its gonna happen once in awhile.

4.3 cm-10.2

Has anyone tried the 4.3 cm10.2 ROMs found over here (http://androidhosting.org/Devs/Dhacker29/cm-10.2/)? I was going to give it a go last night but for some reason my device got stuck on the "warning your boot loader is unlocked" screen and had to use Matt's utility to give it life... I may give it a try tonight when I'm not expecting any calls...

Yeah, I'm running the latest version of it now. I had the same problem. What worked for me was the following:
1. Wipe everything - system, data and both types of cache.
2. Install CM 10.2 and NOTHING else. Boot the ROM. It should go through now.
3. Once you get to the main screen, reboot into recovery.
4. Install the 4.3 GAPPS version. Reboot, get to the main screen and reboot into recovery.
5. Now flash the 4.3 version of Supersu for CM 10.2
6. Boot one last time into CM 10.2
All the links for everything you need can be found with a Google search. Later I may edit this post to include those links.

TWRP isn't supported either from what I understand. You need to run CWM.
Any time I install 4.3, it won't reboot. It starts up initially, but I can't get it to get past the Motorola logo upon second boot.
I have tried the normal install method and this method.
Then recovery doesn't see the /data folder so something is wrong with the 4.3 install I presume.
Does it change the location of data?
Yeah I Tried It But It Had No Sound So I Changed Over To 4.2.2 AOKP.

I use TWRP, works ok. Got sound, data, everything working fine. Battery life sucks, but no surprise there.
My 2c
I'm running it right now. I must have missed the part about flashing SuperSu, because I can't do anything as root. I had trouble the first time I flashed with the phone bootlooping, but I flashed again and that fixed it. Battery life is somewhat poor, but I just found the performance page today (Icon was different, silly me!) so we'll see how it goes with a different governor. I've been having issues with Navigation and Bluetooth audio on anything except stock. Bluetooth audio locks the phone and I have to soft-reset it. Navigation crashes if you try to multi-task while using it.

Wrong update path?

I'll just start with how I flashed from the beginning
I337UCUAMDB - May 2, 2013
CASUAL
Stayed there for a while.
Last night I wiped:
/data, /cache, /dalvik, and /system
Flashed Hyperdrive RLS12
Flashed RLS12 - AT&T Compatibility Pack
Rebooted
It seemed to boot fine, but when I unlocked the screen the Google keyboard immediately force closed, then system quit responding so I couldn't even click the Ok button on the force close dialog for a couple minutes. Even after this, everything was very slow. I quickly realized that most of my hardware buttons were misbehaving. Either they only worked when I long pressed them, or they didn't work at all, except for the Home button.
I suspected that the AT&T Compatibility zip was the kernel I would need to make this Verizon-based ROM work on my phone but I wasn't sure if that's true or if I would need a separate kernel zip to flash.
Afterwards I ended up using Odin twice to return to stock MDB and then CASUAL to get root and recovery back.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Have you read it's thread and directions for at&t users ?
Normally if you had a wrong kernel it wouldn't even boot. Honestly if you are new I'd stick to at&t or i9505 ported ROMs. MDB allows you free reign to try all the ROMs.
I suspect you got a bad download or something was missing.

I'm not new to flashing per se but I broke this phone two weeks after I bought it and just recently got it fixed. I included everything because I wasn't sure where something may have gone wrong. Maybe I came from the wrong base or something. I'll link to this thread in the ROM thread

Well you didnt have to odin bud. Just make a backup of the rom your on in twrp. Leave it on your sd. I backup to external bc it takes too much space on internal. And try flashing the rom again. Maybe redownload it bc it might be a bad download. I too had the keyboard force closing so I reflashed and only checked swype keyboard in the installer so no more keyboard fc. If you have an issue after flashing the rom just boot recovery and restore your backup instead of using odin.
The hardware button issue and slowness is from force closing. When something fc"es the whole system kinda freezes up and becomes unresponsive. Just dont install any keyboards from the aroma except swype. Try it that way and let it sit for a few minutes after booting. I also suggest using ktoonsez 4.3 tw kernel. You can find it under origional development and flash in recovery after roms installed
As far as how you flashed everything was done right. You can try not wiping manually and just choose full wipe in the aroma installer.
Hope everything goes well if not then just come back here and let us know so we can help

Also get the app greenify and greenify everything but your launcher
I had issues getting it up and runing as well. took me downloading it a couple times and probably flashing it 4 times. Not sure what was going on. rather than ODIN, I would do a battery pull, hold VOL+ and power and force it into recovery and reflashed. a few times...
Thanks for the replies guys. I used Odin because my external SD is full..I need to buy a bigger one.. anyway I'll download a new copy while I'm getting ready for work and try flashing it on the way.

Need help to flash pardus hd rom

Friends i am on stock 4.4 kitkat and i want to install pardus hd rom can anyone help me with proper guide about rooting and installing custom recovery on 4.4 kitkat
Sent from my LG-D802 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
First you root using ioroot 25. It's extremely easy and there are instructions in the thread. Then I suggest using AutoRec to install TWRP 2.7. Again, very easy and instructions in the thread.
Then when you are ready to install the rom, you reboot into recovery. If you don't have an app or mod to do it for you, then you can do it manually. Turn off your phone, then hold volume down and power button till the lg logo appears. When that happens, you release the buttons and immediately hold them again. You will see a window asking if you want to factory reset your phone (as long as your recovery is properly installed, then there's no need to worry). Press power 3 times and it'll boot into recovery.
Now you can install your rom. The rom thread probably have instructions as well. It's probably something like wiping dalvik, system, data and cache. Then install the zip(s).
I hope this helps. I didn't go into too much details because there's already instructions in the respective threads and it's usually fairly straight forward and most screw ups can easily be fixed. Just remember to double check anything you install matches and is compatible with your specific model so you don't brick your phone. That's all. You should be fine.

Nice. I didn't know that. I use G2 tweak box to add it as a reboot option. But it's nice to know for other devices without that xposed module.

I'm glad to hear that.
Edit: I actually forgot something in the "guide". A bit of an oversight from me. Always make nandroid backups. They can be a huge life saver. It can be done within the recovery... Or the easier way: install online nandroid backup. You can also schedule backups with that.

bootloops and random foreclosures

Please read prior to posting have you tried this.....
Back story
At this time i had had to pull an old logic board out of the box n hook it up to a screen n battery. the phone was bought off ebay about 2 years ago and it didnt act right so i just pulled the board and put in the one of my broken screen. now that this is the only phone i have i need to get it working. At that time I remember it wasnt unlockable so I didnt look into to fixing it. every thing was foreclosing , (android.process.acore, calendar dialer gapps settings system ui)
Now
I flashed via rsd up to 4.4.2-KDA20.62-10.1_CFC_1FF, after reboot same issue everything was foreclosing. plowing through the OK's I got it rooted and BL unlocked. after which I powered down verified unlock via fastboot/ boot logo. FDR wipe cache> upon start up "android.process.acore stopped working" then the cycle of everything foreclosing. plowing through the okeys I got to the start up homescreen radom apps foreclose then it soft reboots ( no boot logo just anamation)> andriod is upgrading ( number of apps is however many foreclosed) it continues with the soft reboots and android is rebooting cycle for about an hour. util I get to a point where it boots per say but every app in the drawer says "app not installed" so at this point I prepare my files and tools
Files and tools
RSDLite_6.1.6 From and old HD
VZW_XT907_4.4.2-KDA20.62-10.1_CFC_1FF.xml from an old HD
thinking these are corrupt I re download them
VZW_XT907_4.4.2-KDA20.62-10.1_CFC_1FF
RSDLite_6.1.6
HouseOfMoto-4.3
I flash Via house of moto same result
I flash Via house of moto different ports/ cords / delete | re download files
I download and flash 4.4.2-KDA20.62-15.1_CFC_1FF via RSD > same result
I flash 4.4.2-KDA20.62-15.1_CFC_1FF via House of moto > same result
I push TWRP - 2.8.2.0 on 4.4.2-KDA20.62-15.1_CFC_1FF flash CM 12.1 and Gapps after reboot it sits at boot animation for about 45 min or so I reboot to twrp FDR wipe still sits at boot animation.
restore backup> plow throw the foreclosures and setup screen get to the home screen and manage to get to call out and get calls/ texts for varying times. seems to be when ever something trys to access google services. the phone goes the soft reboot cycle
sometimes when I restore this back up I can get it working for a few hours some times i have to restore and restore again....
So at this point one main question how can I tell which I should be using 15.1_CFC_1FF.xml, 15.1_1FF.xmlm, 15.1_CFC_1FF_SVC.xml
Update...
I downgraded down to 9.8.1Q-94-1_CFC a little better in terms of I can make calls/texts for about an hour or two, google apps uninstall them mainly play store and google play services when google play services uninstalls itself its done and will not function again till house of moto flash or if I pushed twrp for that test a restore.
with the JBBL I was able to get pacman (with gapps-kk-20140105-signed) latest nightly to boot, I was able to open the play store and install TiB, after which play store uninstalled itself>auto soft reboot> play store was back... I am able to install the main apps I use however none will connect to the internet 4g/wifi I think onces the apps (I believe) attempt to reach out or hear back then foreclose, Chrome, baked in browser and firefox none will all access to the URL bar prior to foreclose.
ATM I have downloaded xt907-9.8.1Q-94-1-radio and am about to flash the radio in hopes it works... although I do not feel it will
@ATTACK , @sd_shadow if you may know of something I can try in-sight would be well appreaciated
I thank you kindly for your time
Flashed the radio no better, a little worse in terms of getting signal, Attached is a logcat of what happens...
Start log>home>app drawer> MY.com game>ok on forecloser>open chrome>Ok on foreclosure >reload button in chrome>Screen shot>ok on foreclosure>home>logcat>stop
attached is 1 log 2 SS of chrome error 3 sys info
I Am desperately seeking assistance.. Thank you kindly for your time

thank you for your help.... I am leaning toward Hardware issue at this time.... there is no way that (no over estimating) after about 50 flashes and 8-9 roms all have the same issues more or less... if this was a PC id say AV, Firewall, virus, malware or faulty drive
I am not familiar with how to read logcats, but browsing through it I see " 817 835 W BroadcastQueue: Permission Denial" pop up a lot as well as an issue with google play services. I have no Idea what it all means If I cant get it fixed I may just buy one with a broken screen off ebay if I can round up an extra 15-30$
Does any one know or can assist as to why apps, system apps are not "sticking" ?
Update... well lastnight I flashed blispop which never booted so I flashed stock jb 98.30.1 via house of moto again... while it was rebooting at the splash screen I force rebooted to fast boot ... mfastboot flash recovery.... mfastboot flash logo... mfastboot reboot...fell asleep.. 3 hours later went through the start up process... reboot to twrp... make backup this time including cache... reboot(x3)... stuck at splash screen (x3)... restore backup ... and (knock on wood) I haven't had much of an issue... chrome has a few issues have to reload a few times one time it auto soft rebooted "optimized" 1 app but I'm still able to download and use apps, make calls, text... although I haven't tried MMS.. going strong for about 8 hours now...I really have no idea what's going on with this phone...

VRZ_XT907_9.8.1Q-94-1_CFC.xml.zip MD5: F74073FF0F66AC3C3C4A0F038DD29A1D
verify md5
then unzip/uncompress
find VRZ_XT907_9.8.1Q-94-1_CFC.xml
remove these lines with notepad++
<step operation="getvar" var="max-download-size" />
<step operation="flash" partition="partition" filename="gpt.bin" MD5="....MD5 sum here...." />
<step operation="flash" partition="tz" filename="tz.mbn" MD5="...MD5 sum here...." />
save and close notepad++
find edited VRZ_XT907_9.8.1Q-94-1_CFC.xml with rsd lite
flash

If it starts acting up again, you can try my twrp backup
183.46.15.stock.nandroid.zip
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24499762635998745
just unzip, place on sd card, and restore in TWRP
It just stock, probably should be on Kitkat bootloader
no guarantee that it will be better, just something else to try
