http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2586432
I tried towelroot but it doesn't do anything after 15 seconds.
You either need to install Fastboot and ADB look in dev are for links or your not in the directory where the adb and fastboot executables are.
This is why your getting this error. Also i have tried towelroot and it froze my tegranote right out i have to reflash the device again to get it working or more over just the /System partition.
If you have gone though the OTA updates and have hit past 4.3 then you can simply use the SuperTool to restore your tablet which has everything in there for you including the fastboot and adb.
Just make sure you wasn't on 4.2.2 before using this methord.
Also you haven't said which brand of tablet you have either.
By looks of the link you posted your after installing root via either CWM or TWRP (I suggest using TWRP!)
if thats the case.
Install fastboot and adb files some where and also the recovery image of choice then do the fastboot flash recovery (name of recovery .img file ) then download the SuperSU zip and flash that in your chosen recovery you will then be rooted!.
kingroot v3.5 or older
If you want to root without PC on TN7 use kingroot and if you having trouble installing fastboot send me an email

How to flash Zenfone 5 by using Odin

I have an Asus zenfone 5 which was bricked and for some reason sideloading from the adb stopped after installing 54% of the firmware so I decided to go for cynogenmod, which was sucessfully flashed. I now want the old stock android back and dont know what to do. If i use ADB again after 54% it will just stop and I tried using TWRP too but it said wrong version and all.
I want to know if i can use ODin to flash my device and if yes then how?. Also in odin im required of an md5 file which i dont know where to get. I have a lollipop firmware and please tell if i need more than that or not.
ODIN is only for Samsung phones.

Thanks for the info. I haven't checked it how it will go but at the end I still have to sideload my lollipop update right. That it the problem here since adb always stops at as I reach 54% of the installation. Is there any other way to update to lollipop and the end when your guide finishes?
And thank you for replying

Yes. Just download 3.23.40.60 firmware, extract recovery.img from the firmware .zip, boot to Droidboot, flash the recovery.img, reboot to recovery, then sideload the firmware. That's it.
i have the same problem in a501 cg

I had the same issues but I resolved it
U must have the latest adb tools
U must have recovery image of .52 not .60 (lollipop )
.60 firmware ,
First flash the fastboot from .60 firmware ( It will be droidboot)
Then flash the recovery (.52 recovery )
Reboot into recovery then sideload the .60 firmware ( in case the sideload fails try to relock bootloader then sideload the firmware .)
After that u can manually update to .78 and .87 fimwares respectively . @zaris47 try this as I mentioned and plz google for the files .
i was using .78 and now can't get back to droidboot of .78 (lollipop)

Try flashing RAW firmware....its the easiest and safest way to do...
Somewhere around the threads, there is a windows cmd prompt based script created by dgadelha(or tank0412, i forgot ?) which allows u to flash the rom in just a single click......try to search it...I'll post the link if i got that post...
Also, note that RAW fw for A500CG also works for A501CG,but only via this script ,not Asus flash tool apllication(only works for a500cg)...
thanks for the advice, lokking forward for your next post

SATV 2015 16Gb APX mode

After i receive the ota to Android 7.0, the camera start freezing when i try to use on Teelybean apps.
I decide to downgrage the shield to Android 6.0. I download the recovery image from Nvidia site, but i do not now there is a another version of shield(2017) and take that recovery image( When i search on google for shield tv recovery image, first link is to Shield 2017 not to all the version of Shield TV released.
I flash that firmware with adb and i don't receive any errors. Everything was whit"OK". I reboot the SATV and after that " No signal" on HDMi port and the green lights stay on.
When i watch on Device manager i find the APX yellow exclamation.
I don't have any backup made from my device(blob.bin, flash.cfg, etc)
I try Ubuntu 16.04, 14.04( virtual and physical machine).
I try to reflash-it with Jetpack.
I manage to retrieve the CPU ID from the shield with a little script that i modified to read la 16 characters. But the real CPUID is not only from 16 , is from more than 16(i think 32)
There is someone that have backup the SATV 2015 and have the backup file(blob.bin, flash.cfg, *.bct file?
I also found that in linux there is tegraflash.py that replace the nvflash command (you can use tegraflas.py to find the real cpu id - the long one)
But i try to flash it from almost 2 weeks and i don't manage to reflash it?
There is someone here that know to do this in recovery mode?

For Nvidia Shield TV 2015 16gb download the one that says:
NVIDIA SHIELD ANDROID TV Recovery OS Image*
The 2017 model never had MM 3.x, just Nougat, only the 2015 models got MM so there is no way to go wrong there.
About you downgrading, you're like 5th person i read that have done it and has hopefully only soft-bricked your device.
If your not able to get into fastboot or bootloader mode (manually) then you have hard bricked your device, so first report if you are able to do so, in case you can then first flash nougat 5.0.2 blob.bin, second the recovery.img and then reboot your device to bootloader again to flash the rest.
Do not mess with the bootloader or you will hard brick your device and never ever flash 2017 OTA or recovery images to your 2015 Shield TV because if you flash incorrect bootloader again you will hard brick your device. If that happens i suggest you send it for RMA as Nvidia have the proper tools to restore it.

I am not able to enter in fastboot mode. I try all the method bot every time it goes in APX mode. I have the recovery image v 2.1 but ther is only a "blob" there not blob.bin.
If i can find somewhere blob.bin file, maybe i can re flash it. The only blob i find is the "natives_blob.bin from Jetpack package.
When i try to flash it with Jetpack, the software manage to mount the 15 GB partition, but at the end I receive an error, something like is not finding the device.
I use this command to flash it manualy: sudo ./tegraflash.py --bct bct.cfg --bl fastboot.bin --odmdata 0x6009C000 --bldtb tegra210-jetson-tx1-p2597-2180-a01-devkit.dtb --applet nvtboot_recovery.bin --chip 0x21 --cfg flash.cfg
The --odmdata 0x6009C000 is for USB 2.0
The --odmdata 0x6209C000 is for USB 3.0,
I can post the log from there. Maybe we will find a solution.

Thank You, first.
I think the pictures can help me to generate the flash.cfg.
On the recovery image i can find only this files:
blob
boot.img
recovery.img
system.img
userdata.img.
tegra210-foster-e-p2530-0930-e02-00.dtb
To flash the satv corectly i need the blob.bin, the bct.bct or bct.cfg and the bootloader.bin
I also find a bootloader.bin on jetpack package but i don't think is good because is for using Ubuntu on the SATV
If you can generate a dump file from your shield and send it to to me i think i can generate all the files that i need to re flash it.
I don't remember exactly the application from the Jetpack l4t but i think is something like this ./mkdump --file ...

Install using fastboot.
We need drivers uploaded to fastboot and minimal adb fastboot to download from here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120698566 we install the minimal adb fastboot and go and put it into the Minimal ABD Fastboot folder on the drive c then upload the downloaded files there system.img,userdata.img,boot.img.We run the program as we uploaded files there and launch the phone in fastboot mode After connecting the phone, type the following commands:
1.fastboot flash boot boot.img
2.fastboot flash system system.img

Root without unlocking bootloader

Hi,
I'd like to root my zenfone 2 laser (ze550kl z00ld). I've been trying to unlock the bootloader with the Asus app (version 9.0.0.3) for a few days but it fails every time as for many other users (can't post urls but several threads on asus zentalk forums). I can't find version 9.1.0.0 of the tool unfortunately. However, it looks like I could root the phone without unlocking the bootloader because I can use adb to reboot to fastboot mode (adb reboot bootloader from pc command line) as I have enabled developer mode with usb debugging and the computer is allowed on the phone.
Am I right to do this?
- download latest twrp recovery image for phone model (twrp-3.3.1-0-Z00L.img from dl.twrp.me) on computer
- connect phone to computer (linux OS) & reboot to fastboot mode
- flash twrp image via
Code:
flashboot flash recovery twrp-3.3.1-0-Z00L.img
from computer
- simultaneously reboot the phone from computer via
Code:
fastboot reboot
while simultaneously holding down the volume down key on the phone
- this should allow me to reboot into twrp recovery from which I can flash the supersu app zip dowloaded from supersu.com and copied from the computer onto the phone's sd card root
Does this seem correct to you? Is this likely to succeed or should I continue trying to unlock the bootloader?
Thank you very much!

Hello
You won't be able to install TWRP without unlocking the bootloader.
The official unlocking tool is very buggy, and pretty much useless since it never works.
I recommend you follow this unofficial method.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ze...de-unlock-bootloader-asus-unlock-app-t3405850
You should be able to unlock the bootloader in less than 5minutes. Just enable adb, boot into fastboot and run the code available in that thread, and it should do the trick.
After unlocking, then you can install TWRP and then Magisk, if all you want is to have root.

That can't work for me as my phone isn't rooted.
It says to follow other methods given in another thread to try to root the phone beforehand. I'd read all these threads before. There are three which give a guide to root the zenfone 2 laser ze550kl. One requires to first unlock the bootloader (feels like I'm going round in circles here...) and the other two link to a firmware patch which used to be hosted on mega.nz but aren't available anymore.
I'd love to go the easy way and unlock the bootloader first before flashing twrp recovery and then rooting, but it seems like that's just not possible because all the guides are obsolete, or am I missing something more subtle?
Thanks!

If I recall correctly, the root part is only used to make the partitions backup with adb shell.
The bootloader unlocking part (the two line code that goes "echo ....") doesn't need it.
I used this tutorial a long time ago, so take this info with a grain of salt.
The problem is that this phone is almost 4 years old now, so most links are not being updated or dead.
So it might be worth a shot trying to run that code without root. (By my understanding, root does not alter the fastboot binaries, so it should not be necessary).
In any case, I might have a backup of a patched system IMG somewhere on my computer. I'll try searching for it and if I find I'll upload it to you.

Nope, seems to require root to modify the hex value of byte 16 on the boot device (I presume that's what the command does, there's no man accessible via adb shell but that's what that dd command does on unix machines). I can't even, as normal user, list /dev/block or even /dev:
Code:
1|[email protected]_Z00L_63:/ $
count=1 seek=16 of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/devinfo <
dd: /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/devinfo: Permission denied
1|[email protected]_Z00L_63:/ $ ls /dev
/dev: Permission denied
Bummer, really hoped it would work. Back to unlocking the bootloader via the buggy Asus app it seems, or chucking the phone out of the window maybe...
Thanks for your help anyway :good:
