[Q] Just got my Nexus 4 and it doesn't feel worth the price or "Nexus" label - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

[Q] Just got my Nexus 4 and it doesn't feel worth the price or "Nexus" label
Let's run down this list:
No LTE
720p screen is relatively standard
No hardware keys
Front camera is wimpy
No microSD
No USB Host/OTG out of box
Not easy to replace/disassemble
Poor impact protection (we've all seen the horrors)
Expensive replacement parts (what is it, $90 for the front?)
Average battery
I literally feel I'd be getting more with a One X or S3 for nearly the same price (I did get the phone directly from T-Mobile, which allows for exchange, though it is more expensive). So what if I have official Google support... what else makes this phone as great as people say it is?!? The GNex, and S2 also seem like better choices, if we are specifically discussing the same price point. The more I use it, the more iPhone-y it feels, just running 4.2.2 instead of iOS 7.
In summary: Why do you have this phone and why do you like it?

Dont cry, just sell it.

You did not do your homework before you bought it?

Alright...sorry for my answer, i just hate if people crying here..you knew the Phones Hadware etc. before you got it. I really like the Nexus, it has very good handling and is lightning fast. The 720p Display is perfect, just rember ; everything above 300ppi looks the same for your eyes. I had to decide between the S3 and the N4 but after a while of playing with the S3 of a friend, i didnt even thought about buying the S3 anymore. I hate TouchWiz, its ugly and it's laggin. Maybe you know someone with an s3/OneX where you can test the phone for yourself
Sorry for my bad English , im German and only 14 years old yet.

If I was to get an S3 or HTC One or One S or One X, the first thing I would to is S-OFF and install the latest CyanogenMod build. I would not stick to Sense/TouchWiz.

I mean that's kind of a given. My Samsung Mesmerize runs 4.2.2 because of CM, when it would otherwise be stuck at 2.3.4.

Okay, but i dont understand your question then, if you defintely wont keep Sense/TouchWiz , why would you get the S3 or the OneX/S instead of keeping the Nexus? They are nearly the same... except of the Screen Processor etc. And of course the Handling but i think the N4 is better in all those categories ?

1. it does have lte, its just disabled. you can enable it, i use strictly lte now.
2. its better than most devices
3. one of the best features
4. almost all front cams are wimpy
5. that bugged me a few years back, i quickly grew out of it.
6. doesnt relate to me.
7. fairly easy to disassemble.
8. in certain situations yes. but mine has fallen too many times without any damage, no protection on it, naked.
9. shop around
10. better than average battery.

The phones I listed have the features that a Nexus 4 doesn't. Other than a quad core processor, all I see is advantages on the other phones. The HTC One has better audio quality and camera, the S3 (IMO) has a better screen and is a lot more disassembly-friendly, and includes LTE, an SD card slot, and many more things.

4. Many phones feature 1080p front cams
7. Battery can't be swapped on the go.
8. $90 to replace the LCD and Touchscreen? Let's try $20 to replace the front glass on an S3 instead.
10. depends on the usage, kernel, clock and rom.

S2 has a nearly as well established dev community, i know the screen is only 800x480, but the processor speed is comparable, USB OTG is out of the box, dedicated buttons for actions.

No LTE - Not in my area, plus I get better speeds than cable with HSPA+.
720p screen is relatively standard - And more than sufficient for a 4.7 inch display. Why would you want to waste more battery and GPU pushing more pixels? Especially when you ***** about battery life and screen replacement cost just a few lines down.
No hardware keys - Nexus won't ever have them, but you knew that, right?
Front camera is wimpy - More than enough for it's intended purpose. Why would I want to compress more pixels for a video chat?
No microSD; No USB Host/OTG out of box - Design decision, but you knew that, right? Its a phone, I have no need for these.
Not easy to replace/disassemble - Did you check the iFixit teardown? More serviceable than most phones. I think the build design is very good.
Poor impact protection - The drop tests I saw had it compare favorably to the S3.
Expensive replacement parts (what is it, $90 for the front?) - Yes, due to a fused digitizer/display. Seems about average for both.
Average battery - Check out Qualcomm's Battery Guru.
In addition to my differences with the above assessments, I think the phone looks and feels great, works great, is open and unlocked (I will never be on contract again), and is priced at a point where I won't get sick if I lose it or drop it (which for me really adds to the usability).

I get great battery life. The GPS locks insanely fast. The phone is blazing fast. Dev support is second-to-none. It's gorgeous. It feels amazing in my hand. The screen looks great. I don't have to settle for CM.
Oh, and PA is developed specifically for this device. That means we get the new features first. And the builds aren't ports. They're compiled, fully functioning builds.

Awesome. Very nearly iPhone 4 ppi on 4.6 inches and its SAMOLED AND its 720p. I really hope this leak is real cause I'm sold on the display alone. I only hope the next nexus doesn't do away with the sd card slot >_<

Same. Super excited about the 720p screen. Considering my laptop is 15" and 1280x800 its quite astonishing how far screen technology evolved :\ Although apparently its still pentile but considering my Epic is already pentile I think I should be fine.
What I want:
1.5 GHz Dual Core (or even quad-core? maybe too early still)
10-12 MP Camera (There is an android phone expected to have a 12 MP camera soon, so it would be cool to see the NP have one)
720p display (which seems confirmed)
4.5-4.65" display (which is also likely)
BETTER BATTERY LIFE? (2000 mAh??!!?)
ICS will bring a huge update to the OS, but most likely UI which is cool
Anyone else agree?
Lol Galaxy S II already blows iPhone 4S out of the water:

I would agree with this for the most part. I don't think we'll see a quad-core in this guy quite yet. As for the camera, MP is only a fraction of what makes a good camera. I personally believe the camera on the Epic is pretty rock solid for a phone.
I think once you get over a 4.5" screen, it's getting to be too big for a phone. I would like to see it no more than 4.5". However, even with the lack of buttons, I'm surprised at how much 'dead' space there is at the bottom of the phone. I figured without the buttons, they would be able to utilize about the whole front as the screen. They can put the carrier branding crap on the back.
Not only would I like to see a bigger capacity battery, but I'm guessing ICS probably has some good things in it which will improve batter life as it is.
If this thing comes to Sprint, it shall be my next phone, without question!
Yeah the biggest issue being Verizon will probably be the first to get it.... My upgrade is available yet I have to wait more... /firstworldproblems

Will someone please tell me where all these ridiculous rumors that Verizon will get any exclusivity on the next Nexus came from? Let's stack up the evidence:
1) Verizon to this date is the ONLY carrier who does not currently have even 1 Nexus phone.
2) Verizon actively refused these phones because they couldn't ruin them with bloat; a factor that has not changed.
2a. The Nexus phones aren't crazy big sellers and thus wouldn't change Verizon's decision, especially not enough to make them pay for exclusivity.
3) Google is crazy in bed with Sprint right now with Google Wallet and Google Voice being exclusive services currently.
4) Google just tricked the Nexus lines current customers into signing 2 year contracts with T Mobile and Sprint; why would they intentionally screw developers by making it so they can't get this Nexus device without an ETF?
Evidence FOR Verizon exclusivity:
1) the words "Droid" and "Prime" were once seen written on the same line of text? And there is absolutely no proof that that phone exists or is not just a bloated Nexus variant.

They seem to be sticking to the shape of the OG Nexus. Does anyone know if it will have no SD card slot and be all internal memory? I remember when people thought the OG Nexus would be dual core as well. I will wait for iron clad proof that its coming to Sprint and has at least a bigger battery and more powerful processor because that screen has got to use more battery

This was true, until Sprint went and dumped $20B towards Apple. I really hope that didn't piss off Google too much. If I were getting cozy with someone and they went and did something like that, I would seriously have to reconsider my association/partnership with them.

And I would consider that compelling evidence against exclusivity on sprint as well. The decision for which carriers were getting this was made months ago and its unlikely that sprint was talking to google about buying the iphone all the way back then.

My main qualms are it's a little big (this can be gotten used to), not removable sd card or battery, and not on VZW.
I could ask for plenty of things:
a battery that will last through a day
it can run Crysis
dual-boot Windows 8
1080p display
integrated subwoofer for actual bass from phone speaker
but mostly I ask for a removable SDcard, or at least a slot for another like on the Inc. Seriously, HTC? My 40GB right now isn't sufficient, I'd really love 32GB internal + SD slot. 64GB internal + SD slot would be even better though

You importing that One X? the One series isn't Tegra 3 in America. It's a dual core Snapdragon 4 chip which is equally as nice. Neither AT&T or Verizon will carry high end non-lte phones.

Haha, cool. I think Joel will have a Sense 4 rom up in about 2 weeks, because Newtoroot fixed data for it, spent about 2 months writing code for it to work on this phone, and so he's asking devs to wait at least two weeks before using his as a base. Pretty impressive work from him though really. And dmeadows has been trying to get data working on cm9/aosp for us, lots of progress, but still not yet complete, shouldn't be too long though, I'm sure

As much as I'd like a One X, or the new Evo (One X plus microSD minus design), I'm sticking with Verizon until they take away my unlimited data.
Because of this, I'm waiting for the Incredible 4G.
The specs should be similar to the One S, and it's supposed to come out April 26th, which would be perfect for all of us Incredible owners who got it at launch with a new 2year contract. I'll be eligible for my 2 year upgrade right when this new one comes out.
As long as the specs hold up, I'll take it.

If? It's definitely coming out. It's just the exact date and specs that are still rumors at this point.
Right now April 26th is the rumored release date, and that looks pretty credible (and right in line with the original Incredible and Incredible 2 releases)
In terms of specs...
It's supposed to have the dual-core snapdragon S4 (drool), clocked at 1.2 (it's not 1.5 but I'll take it. This processor is a beast)
1GB RAM
Sense 4 is a given
It's supposed to have an 8MP camera in the back (VGA FFC) and if it's anything like it's One X and S brothers, quality should be excellent. Pictures only show a single LED flash, which is a bummer, but not that big of a deal.
4.3" display is the best guess right now, although some people are thinking they may stick with 4" like the Inc 2. Either way, it's not expected to be 720p (qHD is the latest rumor). Personally, I'm hoping for 4.3" but that's probably not a deal breaker either. I've done ok with my OG Inc for 2 years and even 4" would be an improvement.
Display technology is probably going to be the biggest bummer. It's not going to have that GORGEOUS Super LCD 2 display that the One X and Evo 4G LTE have. It will probably be your standard AMOLED (maybe super). I don't mind that much though. I'm not one of those people who feel so pationately about display quality that they can write pages and pages on contrast and color accuracy and blah blah blah...
Pictures show all 4 of the old capacitive buttons, which is a little strange. Perhaps it's an earlier prototype and they've changed it? Personally, I'd be fine. I know menu is being phased out, but a lot of apps still use it so I wouldn't mind having a menu button for 2 more years. For multitasking, I've always found long-press on home to be more than sufficient... I felt that the dedicated button was extraneous. And as for search... removing that button was a big mistake in my opinion. Yes, there's the search bar at the top of the desktops (actually, that's not even the case in Sense 4), but without the search button you don't have access to voice actions from anywhere in the OS, which SUCKSSS.

EDIT: I also wouldn't be surprised if there's two models, a black and a white. There will clearly be a white version, based on the pic, but I can't think of a lot of phones that offer just white, without also releasing black (usually before white). That's just my own thinking though.
ANOTHER EDIT: Some things that we don't have any rumors on, and some things that a lot of people are probably interested in are:
Removable Battery?
microSD slot?
NFC?
Personally, I dont really care much about NFC. Sure, it'd be great, but there's not a lot of stuff to take advantage of it yet. As for microSD, it's certainly preferred, but not a deal-breaker for me. I stream a lot of my content since I have unlimited data, but I do download a lot of podcasts, many of which are video, so the space would be good. Even though it's not that big of an issue for me, I can see how some people may have a serious issue with lack of a microSD slot. The removable battery is my biggest priority of those three things I listed. Although I'll probably get the phone either way, I will be SOOOO disappointed if it's not a removable battery. But then again, battery life should be pretty great given the S4, so maybe it won't bother me as much.
demarcmj said:
That's just my own thinking though.

haha. I figured everyone in here would already know about the Incredible 4G. I've been following it very closely since the pics were released. I even set up a google alert on it a couple weeks ago so I wouldn't miss anything
I think it's going to be really popular because
(a) Like the OG Incredible, when it gets released it will be the best phone (by far) available on Verizon at that time (the same can't be said for the Incredible 2)
and
(b) It's being released pretty much exactly 2 years after the OG Incredible, so people like me who are up for their 2 year upgrade will flock to it.
(I'm also hoping that, especially because of "b" above, that there will be a good dev community behind it)

The size. Is it a problem?

Hey guys
So thinking of picking up one of these, as I own a S2 and love the whole look and idea of the note.
But im currently in education, which means that the size may become and issue when moving around and travelling etc.
Just wanted to get ur thoughts and opinions in it.
Is the size ever annoying and not ergonomic? how does it do in terms of pockets etc?
Just voice ur opinions here. Also, im 15 yrs old so take my hand size and general size into account as well
thanks

Well it ain't too big and you get use to it in a couple of days. the bigger the better

The best way is Try yourself with any of your friends galaxy note or if it's not possible then tack a piece of cardboard and cut it 146.9 x 83 x 9.7 mm. Now put it on your pocket or hand. If you feel comfortable than go for it.
SGN is a great device.
Press thanks button if it helped you.

I've had it for about 2 months now. First two days it was TOO big. Rest of the two months, it has been just the perfect size for me, in fact, it has been the perfect phone for me.
P.S. Lucky you! I had a Motorola W220 maybe when I was 15.
Aha thanks for all ur opinions guys im thinking of picking up one. Im sure i will grow to the screen size. I may get a one x though. Or a nexus :L ahh so many options!!

As you said you own S2 than I think no need to upgrade to SGN because you get only screen size better. Consider S3 or wait for Galaxy Note 2.
Anyways Thanks for Thanksgiving. (my first thanks on xda)

It is a problem, could be an inch or so bigger.
I have all of them lying here in front of me and an extremely hard time to decide which one to keep and which to sell again.. Problem: if i would have never used the Note, the nexus as well as the one x would have been extremely impressive. i actually bought the nexus and the one x because the note in certain circumstances really is too big for me (jogging etc.). but after 1 month of using this beast i am a little disappointed with the others.
main problem nexus: camera not as good, obviously smaller (otherwise it's like a small Note, at least with cm9 installed). battery slightly worse than Note, but still good in comparison with other handsets.
main problem one x: battery life (not taking into account the whole sense and other htc bloat). do not believe people that say battery life on the (international) one x is great, they are either coming from a previous htc device (and thus have really really low expectations), very light users, or pure fanboys. also, camera quality on the note (at least with stock Samsung Rom) is better, both for stills and video (with ics roms there are currently still some camera problems, but overall it's fine).maybe the one x would have the best lens etc., but software compression is too aggressive (pic file sizes point to this). however, camera software on / usability of the one x camera is by far the best, really stunning. burst Mode, take pics while shooting Videos, etc.
just a few thoughts off the top of my head..
in summary: if you are surfer primarily, no question: Note! otherwise, things start to be complicated. this, however, is purely the problem of having too much choices and of always comparing instead of being happy with what one has got: if one would simply receive one of these handsets, each would be equally awesome! (generally this is the reason why western people, me included, manage to be unhappy at times despite being in a really lucky position, and to spend waaay to much time with decision like this (no offense meant, i'm probably just writing my own cognitive dissonances from my chest. ;-)
good luck with your decision

The note for me has been awesome.. The size fits well in a pocket. Seems huge to begin with ( i came from the i9000) but wouldnt change it now. Ive had mine since december and apart from having it stolen (1. Thank god for insurance and 2. How the hell they got it out of my pocket without me knowing lol) its been amazing. The s-pen works like a dream and i actually use it quite often. The size is perfect for what i use it for gaming.. Reading.. Movies in bed..
I'd consider it a definite upgrade from the s2
Not to mention i never get tired of ppl saying how big it is and my reply being why have u never held anything bigger than 4 inches in ur hand before?

YOu know the real Problem with the size is that if you ever want to go back no normal smarthphones it would be a pain.... the first week i was thinking is way to big... after that (4 months) now, im loving it.. everytime i touch an iphone its too small, now i cant go back to a normal size phone..... other than that its great !

Thanks for all that! The nexus camera is defo not as gd, and i guess the hardware to some degree. Im leaning towards not getting the one x :L its full of bloatware (although i dont really mind sense) has no s off and has apparently bad batt life. Carry a tablet around for a week .......... that should answer your question
With the note you don't need a tablet . Once you have one and use one very difficult for many to go back to a smaller screen

What do you guys think of the new Chinese phone that supports USA carriers?
You can view the specs here:

It's about the size of the Droid DNA, but better. I'm actually thinking of getting this. Doesn't have SD Card but has 16GB and 32GB Version! Great price, and a premium product.
Bad thing is......you have to buy it via western union and/or wire transfer. They do accept Paypal over $300. They sent me this:
For avoid credit card fraud,we don't accept payments for product 300$ or more by Paypal or by credit cards. payments for product 300$ or more must be paid by bank transfer or Western Union MoneyGram. For more information, please visit : http://www.fastcardtech.com/article-9-Payment+Methods.html

looks good on the paper
Looks good on the paper. 1080p for a phone is an overkill if you ask me with today's battery technology. I bet this phone has major draws.
I would consider it if the power button were on the side, I almost never use two hands with my phone and this would annoy me to no end.

The only thing which bothers me, as a previous Tab 7.7 owner, the lack of software support, I may even sacrifice some hardware stuff for better official or xda community support potential. As far as I see it now the DNA, a major brand product, is nowhere near the Nexus devices in all the development and ROM hacking fuss. Oppo is moving to the global market, thus the good software support is implied but yet to be confirmed.
Actually, the size of the OPPO Find 5 is nowhere near the gargantuan HTC DNA despite sporting the same size screen thanks to an edge-to-edge screen and minimal wasted space at the top and bottom:
HTC DNA: 141 x 70.5 x 9.7 mm (5.55 x 2.78 x 0.38 in)
Oppo Find 5: 129 x 65 x 6.9 mm (5.08 x 2.56 x 0.27 in) <---smaller than HTC One S
The key here is the middle number, at 65 mm wide, it will be VERY easy to do one handed operations. This is a huge HUGE attraction for me as I'm sick of all these phlabets/phlaptops that HTC, Samsung, LG, and others are producing. Increasing screen size is one thing, but the phones are getting so enormous that it becomes very uncomfortable to use. It's ridiculous.

Whoaahh! Didn't know it was smaller than the OneS! But I knew it was about the size of the DNA. Thanks for doing the conversion!!
The thing I hate, and the LG G2x/O2x did this, was the hardware keys. Why so big? But your right, phones are getting bigger, and bigger is only good for people with big hands. Medium size hands like phones in the range of 4 - 4.7 inches. The DNA did it right by making it longer instead of wider, and I'm glad Oppo is understanding that. Hopefully the S4 and new upcoming phones get it. Keep the big phone size to the Note's.

These specs are for a different phone mate.. it clearly states that it refers to a 4.5 inch phone with 720p screen... The dimensions are still impressive to be sure but nowhere near to what a 5 inch would be if they were able to fit it in just 65mm of width. It would imply a total absence of bezel as in *nil*, I don't think such a tech exists yet, true edge to edge is a decade away I'm afraid. I'd be happy to be proved wrong though...
BTW same applies on the existence of micro SD slot, it probably doesn't have one, at least the company doesn't hint that anywhere (sadly microsd slots seem to go the way of the dodo)...
So to recap, "hold on your horses", it'd probably be a thinner slightly cheaper DNA and given that it is a chinaphone I don't think many would be convinced... it's a good offering to be sure but nothing groundbreaking... again I hope to be proved wrong, if I do I would be the first in line to buy this phone (hate phablet sizes, love big screens and big memories)...
I updated the OP. It does not have SD Card but has 16GB and 32GB version! I am thinking of getting this phone

Idk about Samsung but 4.2 on Oppo devices are coming in Mid Jan. This is actually the first Oppo device heading to the United States support T-Mobile, AT&T, and Simple Mobile. It won't get the over rated advertisement like the GS3, but it is definitely a better phone, in my opinion. Official Software updates, better camera, fast, premium product, NFC.
I have nothing against the GS3 besides the width of it, and the material of the phone is plastic. Otherwise its a great phone. But hopefully XDA will have some ROM support on this phone as its coming to the United States.

Yes a nicer material would be nice, but we all seem to use cases made out of the same material to protect our investment.....so no need to waste extra money on finer materials to cover them up. Nice materials such as glass/aluminum are not add strong or resilient to damage.
I also am not bashing the oppo, seems like a nice phone and the more high end devices, we all win. I'm an android guy, I'm not band stuck, however I'm drawn to Samsung's...HTC is also nice, but on big red they haven't brought anything to the table I would rather have than my gs3. That being said if Verizon would have had the one x I'm not sure which way I would have gone......really nice phone!

You made a good point about protecting the investment. But we're just gonna have to wait and see how this Chinese phone makes a impact on how the US will accept this

Buy the LG G2 now or wait for Nexus 5?

What do you think now that we are somehow sure the Nexus 5 will share most same hardware as the G2,should I swap my One with G2 as soon as the international version is out here,or wait for Nexus 5?
One of the reason I want to swap is the bigger 5.2'' screen in not so big body, dunno if LG will retain the size for N5,but in another hand what I am afraid of with the G2 and could be corrected in N5 is the low volume of speaker.
Software wise if both phones have more than 90% same hardware it will mean we can port 4.4 easily on G2 and LG's UI on N5.
So what should I do?
I am a long time GN user and has been extremely happy with my old Galaxy Nexus phone. I was really looking forward to Nexus 5, and was planning to wait until it is release before making my decision.
I took the plunge with G2 recently and have been using it for awhile. The things that make me really happy is the battery life. Now my phone actually lasted me more than a day.
Another reason is the price of Nexus 5, which will be high in Thailand. Probably as much as G2. (My Galaxy Nexus costed me 600+usd a few years back).
One thing I will miss about Nexus devices is the development and support. Even now my GN is running 4.3 with latest patches and update. While my brand new G2 is running 4.2.2.
G2 Device is blazing fast, with battery life that last. It will keep me from tinkering with rom/kernel upgrades and just focus on using G2.
Personal choice, no one else can decide for you .
I couldn't wait, and I am happy I didn't because the G2 is amazing. Super super fast and awesome battery life.
I am not a real heavy user (I don't play games or watch movies, I mostly use it for texting/browsing/email/weather/NFL/etc.. and streaming music in my car through Gmusic) and right now I unplugged at 5am yesterday, it is now 7:10am the next day (26 hrs later) and I am at 83%.

That said, I am fairly certain I will still buy a Nexus 5 when it comes out for immediate access to KitKat.
Only for now
Once the n5 is out and the g2 more readily available worldwide you can expect ROM's to be popping up left and right

Plus if it really does pan out that the N5 is just a slight variant of the G2, the ROMs might share a lot of the same "stuff", meaning development for the N5 may be easily ported to the G2.
I enjoy my G2 and I'm sure the N5 well be fine since its a LG product. The major difference would be running vanilla android. I'm fine with the current UI for what I do.

The more I use the LG UI, the more I start to worry about going back to stock AOSP... I don't precisely know where the VZW starts and the LG ends, but they sure have done a damn fine job of keeping this from being ****.
Although, I did find some Engrish in one screen: "QuickRemote does not support in landscape mode." Definitely showing Korean roots there, gents.
Still, AOSP/vanilla Android always seems sort of half-way there, like they keep missing little things that should be obvious. Apple is developing the same problem now that Cook is running the shop. iOS, until version 7, seemed to have someone in charge of UX who was a complete control freak over maintaining coherence. I don't mind iOS 7 and it's definitely an improved aesthetic, but it doesn't feel as polished as previous versions.

I have a Nexus 7 for kitkat. I can't fathom carrying two 5" phones around. Lol.
I had this same problem!
I loved my nexus 4! ran flawless, not a terrible camera and decent battery life and I was waited for the 5 until I dropped my beloved nexus and cracked the whole screen :crying: so having to go back to my old GS3 was no fun. I hated touchwhiz more than anything.
What did push me to buy the G2 over the nexus was the fact that the trend with nexus phones is usually outdated (not by much, but still not top of the line) technology in order to keep the price lower. With the G2 you have top of the line everything as well as a amazing design! If money is not a issue go with the LG, if you want to save a little money but still have an awesome phone wait for the nexus. I really actually love what LG has added to the UI. It's not overwhelming and slow like touchwhiz.
I say get the LG G2 its worth it! Once you get used to the buttons in the back you'll never want to use another phone.
I came from the galaxy nexus, and had the nexus one before that. I just couldn't deal with a pure nexus device anymore. There's always something the nexus sacrifices like battery, camera, and or screen.
I went with the G2 this time around because android is pretty much matured imo. Plus you get an awesome camera, battery life, screen, and G ram, which is a cool thing to have to save more battery life. Oh and LG going with on screen buttons this time sold me.
It's safe to say that LG g2, is a great phone to buy over the nexus this time around, unless of course you're all about software updates. One down side though about the phone, Netflix will only stream 1080p on 4.3 surprised no one mentioned that anywhere

There is an aspect ration fix.

It's not there, or I just can't find it...
Biggest reason not to wait is the 2300mah battery vs 3000mah. That and a smaller screen.... Meh. The screen I could live with, but the reviews on battery life are what made me get the g2 over waiting for the n5.

+1
I was considering on waiting for the Nexus 5 but then I read it could only have a 2300mah battery and coming from the Maxx HD I can't do that. 3000mah sounds nice and everyone has been saying they've been getting great battery life.

I just got this phone today because it is a screamer, even on the extremely heavy LG Software. I traded in my nexus 4, because I need wifi calling in my apartment :'[.
Like many on here I've enjoyed having my galaxy nexus and the dev support has been fantastic but I will be going G2 instead of nexus 5 mainly due to the battery. the GNEX is still a great phone (although I'd be the first to admit the screen is poor) and still holds its own (aside from intensive gaming) but its the battery life is getting annoying I'm lucky to get 3/4 of a day out of it.
Also banking on similar hardware to a nexus leading to good dev support. For all the merits of LG's software (I won't slate it but I'm not wiling to try it) I want this thing stock as soon as.. well ideally paranoid android

Agreed, I was debating on Nexus 5 but I'm pretty sure it won't have the battery of the G2. Plus, we already have root and custom recovery. All we need is for the roms to flood in. In the meantime, the LG UI is pretty damn good as is.
