[Q] Saving Apps - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
I am wondering if there is like a thing in google play or an app wich can just save/remember the apps you have each time. I install roms on a lot of android devices but always hate searching my favorite apps and downloading them all again.
Or do I just need to backup the apps in the recovery or something.
Any help would be appreciated

Paid version here as well. (Namely because the paid version offers a number of little things that help a bit, such as SMS, Call Logs, and other settings in XML which is more compatible with being restored on various devices, also there's the extra troubleshooting if you can't seem to get an app restored).

Helium (formerly Carbon) ftmfw! Not only will it let you back up app data only if desired (very useful as it saves space by only backing up the app data e.g. account info, saved games etc) and save backups to the cloud, you can sync app data across multiple devices so you can carry on your Angry Birds mayhem on your tablet right where you left off on your phone. I have the paid version of Titanium Backup, ROM Toolbox Pro and Helium and by far Helium is king

Backup solution of Market apps

Hey. I've asked this before, but never really got a clear answer.
I currently have a bunch of market apps installed on my phone and SD card. Last time I cleared my phone, I did a backup using Titanium. Upon restoring all of my apps, it didn't seem to restore them as much as it seemed to reinstall them, since I had to accept the security risks for each application individually and hit install, install, install, install, etc.
With the VERY SMALL possibility of an official 2.2 coming out soon, I know I will need to flash my phone back to 2.1. That said, is there a better/easier way to backup AND restore my apps?
The donate version of titanium backup automatically installs your apps
Well any time you try yo restore your apps it can cause problems with force closes so try to use titanium as least as possible. The.only other way is to.do a backup and.then you can restore data thru cwm. Its always just a better idea to just do a fresh install on it.

Wrong, I've never had titanium give me fc issues. Restore apps With data only in titanium, don't restore system data.

Mybackup pro. Its simple. It works every time. In my experience, It restores faster than titanium and more reliable. Restores the full apk+data+market link. I think titanium is the app of choice due to its geeky ui. Can anyone show me otherwise?... id be curious to see if there are any advantages.

The best way to do it is to reinstall the apps via the market and just use titanium to restore the app data

i love Mybackup Pro, works great. i like how it puts the apps back in the exact configuration that you had them on your homescreen. but, it did fail me once or twice, where i went to restore, and it said 'could not get backup set'..... maybe that was something funky i did? otherwise i love that app.

i like using the market, but how come it usually only lists a limited number of my apps that i got form the market? it doesn't seem to add them to my list as i download more...
I got no axe to grind as I have Titanium Backup Pro, MyBackup Pro, and a few other misc backup tools. I use them all. However, I never backup system data through anything other than cwm.

Any data that's not specific to a 3rd party application.
Longer way but will provide a fresh install of apps is just use AppBrain.

Any data that isn't specific to a third party application would be my Google mail, my Google Calendar, and my Google contacts. All of which is maintained by the Google cloud, and replicated down to me when I wipe my phone.
Not sure what other data there is that isn't related to a third party application that I would need to back up???
For example, your wifi networks and passwords, bluetooth pairings, your call log and text message history are all system data you can restore.

you can use the following to backup the whole device:
http://www.pocketables.com/2012/09/how-to-use-adb-backup-to-back-up-your-unrooted-phone.html
I dont know how to backup just the angry Birds Saves.
Use titanium backup and just select angry birds or whatever app and data you want.

Except he doesn't have root.....
The adb backup system works, but only as an all or nothing option.
However, I've used an app called angrybirdssync that seems to work ok with all the Angry Birds versions, and doesn't need root:
Play store Link
There is also one called Datasync that works without root for some apps and I've been experimenting with 'saveshare' that uses Dropbox to sync game files..
It's really time Google sorted this out and got a proper sync system working for app data like whispersync for books - it shouldn't be that difficult to implement and if you have an android tablet and phone its a pain having to choose which device to play a game on to retain the save data.

I know it's 3rd party, but this app works really well (if you are rooted): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quintstoffers.DataSync.beta

Safe to disable list

Can we start generating a safe to disable list for the Nexus 10? Or I suppose, a consequences of disabling list would be more appropriate.
I've seen lists for other devices, but usually the lists are filled with manufacturer installed bloatware.
I have disabled Currents, Google Search, and Google+ with no noticeable problems.
I've done youtube, talk, maps, google+, google play movies/magazines/books/music, earth, currents, and exchange services. The strange thing is, some of the start-up processes for these apps are still running. I want to disable NFC and Wallet, but I a few folks mentioned something about corrupting their NFC chip (on other devices), so I'm a little concerned.
If you're rooted, use Titanium Backup to "freeze" them, then they can't start services.
If you don't want to buy titanium backup, and you're rooted, just use a file explorer to rename or delete them in /system/apps

Great, I purchased titanium backup a while ago, but didn't realize that freeze was different than disable in the settings/app menu. Thanks for the info.

I don't think there's a difference between the two
Except not everything you can disable in settings/apps,TB you can freeze anything
But freeze/disable has same effect

[Q] TiBackup / Real Racing 3

I had a backup of Real Racing 3.
Recently I wiped and Reflashed as I'd seen a decrease in performance.
I am absolutely gutted that Titanium FAILED to back my game data.
Any1 else tried to restore real racing and had any luck?
I had quite alot of progress and don't want to start again !!!
PS - Yes I backed up App + Data
I have had data fail to be restored with the app using Titanium Backup.
Try restoring just the data for the app now. It has worked for me in the past.
I hope this helps.
Titanium Backup > Preferences > Backup app external data > Enabled (Always)
That will make sure your ea game saves back up properly. I had the same problem with Simpsons Tapped Out and Plants vs Zombies
Cheers you Two will try these.
Any chance of me getting my data back?

Use cloud save
hi guys, dunno if its still actual but i had the same problem. flashed my phone after titanium backup and restored every app except real racing 3 where i got huge progress. i tried everything and at last in desperation i clicked cloud save - cloud restore in game settings. i never backed up into cloud but apparently its kinda automatic because it worked! one remark: since the beginning i played with facebook login. maybe it matters. hope someone finds it useful.

How to get Samsung Cloud

First off shout out to Vmmatty over in the Android central forum http://goo.gl/kha4Uy
It seems that Verizon is trying to be sneaky and just hide Samsung Cloud to push you towards their cloud. But it's actually there, they just hid the icon.
If you use an app like quickshortcutmaker and you look for Samsung Backup and Restore (com.samsung.android.scloud)
You can create a short cut for it and boom. You can now access Samsung Cloud and get your free 15gb.
Nice! I just did a backup on everything but my apps. Worked like a charm and my free 15gb are showing. Thanks for this!!
Sent from my SM-N930V using XDA-Developers mobile app
Nice, I noticed the app was in the firmware last night but wasn't sure how they hid it.
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! works perfectly, FU Verizon!
Thanks a Lot for this Info, works fine was able to backup my phone , has anyone found the settings for the device maintenance yet or is it completely non existent ?
Yeah, backup worked for me as well. I saw the original link to this discovery and was thankful. I find this piece of "bloatware" worthwhile and far more robust than VZW cloud.
Man. I sure wish some more attention and scrutiny would be at Verizon for their low practices

Great find! Sneaky sneaky Vzw
nice find, no option to back up pics though....
Nice
thank you for the great find
Delete smt on Cloud
How to delete or view smt on Cloud? Anyone know how to manager SS Cloud on PC? I want to delete synced gallery, but i can't find any option to do it. Can't tap on Gallery in Samsung cloud usage: prntscr.com/cblhij
is it possible to copy files from cloud to the phone or SD card? anyone tried that?
Keep getting backup failure when it tries to backup apps
Works Great!!! The quickshortcutmaker app is not really intuitive but it work great!

The solution is to temporarily enable all of your Package Disabler bloat apps, do the Cloud backup, then disable the bloat again.

I was also not able to back up my apps via Samsung Cloud. Your solution worked and allowed backups to complete. I went in and enabled all apps, then after the backup disabled them again. Thanks.
