Backup solution of Market apps - Epic 4G General

Hey. I've asked this before, but never really got a clear answer.
I currently have a bunch of market apps installed on my phone and SD card. Last time I cleared my phone, I did a backup using Titanium. Upon restoring all of my apps, it didn't seem to restore them as much as it seemed to reinstall them, since I had to accept the security risks for each application individually and hit install, install, install, install, etc.
With the VERY SMALL possibility of an official 2.2 coming out soon, I know I will need to flash my phone back to 2.1. That said, is there a better/easier way to backup AND restore my apps?

The donate version of titanium backup automatically installs your apps

Well any time you try yo restore your apps it can cause problems with force closes so try to use titanium as least as possible. The.only other way is to.do a backup and.then you can restore data thru cwm. Its always just a better idea to just do a fresh install on it.

Wrong, I've never had titanium give me fc issues. Restore apps With data only in titanium, don't restore system data.

Mybackup pro. Its simple. It works every time. In my experience, It restores faster than titanium and more reliable. Restores the full apk+data+market link. I think titanium is the app of choice due to its geeky ui. Can anyone show me otherwise?... id be curious to see if there are any advantages.

The best way to do it is to reinstall the apps via the market and just use titanium to restore the app data

i love Mybackup Pro, works great. i like how it puts the apps back in the exact configuration that you had them on your homescreen. but, it did fail me once or twice, where i went to restore, and it said 'could not get backup set'..... maybe that was something funky i did? otherwise i love that app.

i like using the market, but how come it usually only lists a limited number of my apps that i got form the market? it doesn't seem to add them to my list as i download more...

I got no axe to grind as I have Titanium Backup Pro, MyBackup Pro, and a few other misc backup tools. I use them all. However, I never backup system data through anything other than cwm.

Any data that's not specific to a 3rd party application.

Longer way but will provide a fresh install of apps is just use AppBrain.

Any data that isn't specific to a third party application would be my Google mail, my Google Calendar, and my Google contacts. All of which is maintained by the Google cloud, and replicated down to me when I wipe my phone.
Not sure what other data there is that isn't related to a third party application that I would need to back up???

For example, your wifi networks and passwords, bluetooth pairings, your call log and text message history are all system data you can restore.

How do people handle switching roms?

So I understand the idea of switching roms, but there's a lot more to my phone that makes it useful. While a lot of data will be fine (all data that sync with google will automatically be pulled in), I'm worried about the rest of my data, such as apps and the way I have them configured. I'd imagine its annoying to have to reset them each time I install a new rom.
Is there any proper way of handling this so that one can flash a new rom, but automatically install one's apps as well as perhaps reset their configured state to the state one saved?
just wondering what's considered the best way to handle this?
Titanium backup gets most of it, adw has settings backups... Its tollerable and you get quick at it.

Some flashes allow you to do an advanced restore/data, too. And many apps allow you to save/export/import your settings.

i use titanium backup
My backup pro is great for apps and data, wont lose angry birds progress.

Titanium, but it's not all smooth sailing. Many times, it won't relink 5-10 apps to the store, and the fixer wizard thing won't work. You have to reinstall the app... but the data is still okay.

Apps not appearing under my apps section in market

Has anyone else on 1.83 noticed their apps not appearing in the market after updating? I used titanium backup to restore everything but I only have like 5 apps actually showing up in the my apps section of the market.

try using market enabler, maybe some wizardry went on and something broke. If that fails try
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=994857
just be careful with that as it is for 1.5.7
I had the same problem after the 1.83 update. I thought I screwed something up even though all apps were still installed. I just downloaded all the apps again.

Facebook app not working at all....

Not the problem. It's happening in differnt locations. Thanks
First step, uninstall and reinstall the app. If that doesnt work, try flashing a new rom.
Use G+ instead

That is weird, I don't have that problem with AOSP here, hopefully someone with synergy can answer this better or go to their forum and post this.

yea, delete it and then download again.. sometimes you have to even do a reset. but save contacts first unless you have them on google.
if that doesnt work try downloading different versions of facebook through 4shared dot com
Here's an older version of the Facebook app you can try. I stopped using Facebook a while back, this is the version that I have backed up with TB (1.5.4).
If it works then you know that it's the version of FB you're using. If it doesn't work, you know it's something else - rom related, account related, network problems, etc.
If you are restoring app data with Titanium Backup when you reinstall, it could be something in the data causing problems. If you haven't already, un/reinstall your current version without restoring data.

You can also clear the data and cache in your settings for that app. Go into settings>applications>manage applications>select the facebook app from the list. Pres clear cache and press clear data. You will have to sign back into Facebook after doing all that. Let me know if this helped.
Yep, delete and reinstall the app
Uninstall the Facebook app. Leave it uninstalled. Forget you ever saw or heard of it. The app is nothing but trouble and the updates don't fix anything of consequence.
Then, install FriendCaster. It's a much better Facebook app, IMO.

[Q] Saving Apps

Hello everyone,
I am wondering if there is like a thing in google play or an app wich can just save/remember the apps you have each time. I install roms on a lot of android devices but always hate searching my favorite apps and downloading them all again.
Or do I just need to backup the apps in the recovery or something.
Any help would be appreciated

Paid version here as well. (Namely because the paid version offers a number of little things that help a bit, such as SMS, Call Logs, and other settings in XML which is more compatible with being restored on various devices, also there's the extra troubleshooting if you can't seem to get an app restored).
Helium (formerly Carbon) ftmfw! Not only will it let you back up app data only if desired (very useful as it saves space by only backing up the app data e.g. account info, saved games etc) and save backups to the cloud, you can sync app data across multiple devices so you can carry on your Angry Birds mayhem on your tablet right where you left off on your phone. I have the paid version of Titanium Backup, ROM Toolbox Pro and Helium and by far Helium is king

TitaniumBackup ruins notifications

After flashing a ROM, I tried installing Titanium Backup and restore my app+app data on a game I got a lot of progress. The only problem is (and this has happened after restoring with other ROMs too), is that when I restore with Titanium backup, that specific app that I restore no longer receives notifications. I tried clearing the cache, but that doesn't work. I tried removing game, and installing directly from play store, and notification receive just fine. But if I install the APP DATA from titanium backup, the notifications stop working.
I don't want to have to start all over again and beat hours of levels just for notifications.
Any fix on this?
any update, please?
Sounds pretty buggy to me. My guess is that the game might have been storing data somewhere it shouldn't have been (and therefore TiBu missed it?).
To be clear, after installing from the market, you're only restoring the Data part (not app & data)? Your post seemed pretty clear, but just checking.
Further, I suggest, looking through all the settings in the game itself and see if something got reset within the game. Otherwise, I'm out of ideas, sorry.

I've tried both. I've tried restoring App+Data via TiBu. I've also tried installing from the market and only restoring the data portion.

I've tried switching off/on the notification setting in game. Still doesn't notify me unless I manually open the game. The game is called "Super StickMan Golf 2". I've gotten so far and I don't' want to have to do it all over again. Especially since it's multiplayer and the skills you've earned carry with you into multiplayer sessions.
TB messed my textplus notification as well.

It's weird because some apps work that TB restored. For example, I also restored SnapChat with TB, and those notifications work perfect. Except other applications don't (like SuperStickManGolf 2) unless they are installed fresh from the market.

You'll find that tibu is far from perfect. It takes longer, but I almost always restore apps from the store after flashing. There are a few I know tibu will restore and I selectively restore those and get the rest from the store. Also, don't restore system data.

It almost makes TiBu worthless if you can't (or preferably shouldn't) restore the app's data from it. It's too bad they don't have a fix for this. Again, all my other apps (+notifications) work from TiBu's restore (app+data), except Super Stickman Golf 2. ARGH...
If someone finds a fix for this, I'll marry them.... forever
This just happened to me as well but to all restored apps that have notifications. I tried restoring with helium and the same thing happened. Reinstalling the app fixes it. Pretty odd.
Anybody ever find a solution to the SSG2 notifications?
Not willing to lose my single player progress but would love to get those multiplayer notifications working again...
@kalmoa Notifications on this game are jacked in general it seems like. I've started over from scratch and still receive no notifications anymore. Every now and then I'll get one with no rhyme or reason. Sooo annoying.
