Low res panoramas - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

All my panoramas seem to be really low resolution and really poor quality. Is there some setting that will make them better?
I'm pretty sure that they used to be better than this on my gnex!

May I ask why you opened 2 threads on the same subject?

Because I thought it would be more appropriate to post findings in a second thread. I did add a link to the second thread!

Please keep to the open thread!
With some issues, multiple threads are not really too much of a problem, but if there are numerous 'photo' threads, then no doubt we will lose quality photos to the depths of the forum never to be seen again.
Many users place the photography quality high on their list when choosing a phone, so let's make it easy for them to see what a great job Samsung did with the camera.
Regards.

Camera MOD for Samsung Galaxy Note...

Hey guys and girls..
I've got both the Note and the S3.. And no matter how much i use my s3 i always find myself looking across the room at my note and admiring everything about it. But the ONE thing that stops me coming back to it is the camera. Its by no means bad. Butim sure with the touch of a good dev it could be a lot better.
I noticed that just about every other phone sg2, sg3, htc one x etc has a camera mod increasing thr mbit of the video and in some cases increasing the quality via compression of the still shots. I would LOVE and PAY to see that on thr note.
I apologise if this has been attempted or if there is a camera mod. All i can say is im ye to find it!
Have you ever tried ics camera from play store?
Enviado desde mi GT-N7000 usando Tapatalk 2
Isn't the galaxy note basically just a bigger gs2? I dunno if there is a cam mod already, but it seems reasonable to me that the method to changing bitrate values would be identical...
Try LGCamera apk, work ok in my note, up to 100mbit, still looking for a class 100 micro sd! lol.

Yeah, not surprisingly a very expensive/gorgeous SLR camera. Everyone knows dedicated camera's/SLR e.t.c are better, but the point is whereas a camera-phone goes with you everywhere, your camera does not - so why not do the best we can to improve the camera phone.
:good:
Try Camera FV-5 from the market.

Screen defect?

Just noticed this on my screen....it looks like some sort of discoloration. I'm running nova launcher and I'm stock, not rooted. It only appears on any grey popup dialog like the one below. Anyone know what it could be? It looks to me kinda like a background mess up on googles part on the grey popups but I could be wrong.

Can you guys please reply to my issue I've posted and spread the word as much as you can? We're no devs, but the best we can do is to raise awareness, because this is an issue that is unacceptable in final build stable software across multiple devices.

They look good. Anyone else notice that the HTC One pics here and in several other places tend to look like 3D rendered pics. I've notice quit a few that look like a 3D canvas with textures laid on top of the objects. LOL The one of the punching bags is a prime example.
Also where did you get an HTC One? Looking for proof so snap a picture of the phone taking a pic of itself in the mirror

thank you for posting these photos !
please post some more outdoors THX
Impressive in low light, and let's be honest: the moments we really wanna capture for the future usually happen under challenging conditions.
What I don't like however is the 9:16 aspect ratio for portrait mode. It's terrible for viewing on TV and a proper 3:4 ratio picture only contains 3 million pixels. I could live with fewer shots done by Zoe burst mode but at 8MP, oh well...
Someone requested outdoor shots , so I went out to my balcony and took a few. I'll upload some better ones once I go roam the streets later.
But for now...

Two are not needed.

2013 Flagship Phones

This is some pros and cons of the new flagship phones.
Note: Pls cooperate if you see something wrong here, dont bash pls
Samsung Galaxy S4:
PROS: Battery Life is Amazing
The New Amoled doesnt use Pentile Matrix
Camera is better
Air Gestures, Smart Screen and some other motion are kinda useful now
S-Voice is definitely an improvement
One of best 1080p screens right now
Removable battery and Micro SD
CONS: Still the same design
Some overheating problems
Screen Smearing
Innovations arent really game changer
8.8gb of user storage in the 16gb version
There is still lags
HTC One:
PROS: Super LCD 3 is super sharp
Complete revamp of Sense
Zoes, Ultrapixel and Boomsound
Uniquely designed
Solid in the hand
Low light is really a top notch
Best battery among htc phones
Cons: Non-Removable Battery
No sd card slot
Zooming in camera is kinda horrible, due to the 4mp
Some design flaws
Sony Xperia Z:
PROS: Water resistant, dust resistant shatterproof and scratchproof
1080p display
Camera is good but needs improvement
Good Design
Standby Time is one of the best
Sd card slot
Cons: Viewing Angles
Battery life is kinda fast to drain
Boomsound is not really a "boom"
Using a last year processor
Kinda lacks in the software part
LG Optimus G Pro
PROS: First 5.5 inch 1080p screen
Camera is an improvement
Tons of features
Big Battery life
SD Card Slot
Cons: The interface looks cartoonish
1080p video recording kinda suck
No Stylus
Looks like the Note 2
Seems about right but what has this got to with the S3?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2

I guess it is a useful thread for people looking to purchase a new phone, hence maybe it should be moved into some general section?
In addition you should remove the notations of personal perceptions (as above quoted examples). Those are all seen different by people, hence not useful and dilute the otherwise very factual comparison.
I don't think "Looks like S3" is subjective here. It does. Also the LG thing does look like a Note 2.

I created this thread for others to add the pros and con so we can add it in the first post, so it will be a guide for buyers who wants to upgrade their beloved s3.
okay anyway, I reported the thread, a mod will decide what to do
If my voice is worth anything, I found this article quite useful actually.
As previously stated, the other thread exists, but with a different purpose.
This thread doesn't compare anything, it simply stated the pros and cons of the various devices, unbiased.
So for anyone looking to upgrade they can get a clean comparison without having to compare their own phones to another's.
So yeah, thanks for this

Except this thread provides a straightforward guide in the first post...... Whereas the other thread is everything mixed up together in a mash tun, which I found pretty useless as the same comparisons crop up, and there's no across the board review of all of these.

not correct. all cameras have megapixels, HTC just decided to call theirs "Ultrapixels". It still is 4 MegaPixels (as in 4 million pixels), but the matrix is larger
