Tablet Z goes for a dip in the lake(from its POV) - Xperia Tablet Z General

So I finally got my Xperia tablet z!! Its amazing! But I still had to take it for a little bath in the lake while visting my grandparents cabin. I had some trouble getting this video since it kept stopping the video right away when the water touched the screen, but when I slowly and carefully sank it into the water it worked fine.
Enjoy!!:fingers-crossed::laugh:

HTC HD2 more than splashproof.

2 weeks ago it was raining so much that the whole parking was under water.
I jumped to my car and went home. Halfway I discovered that my phone was missing, so I went back and found it on the parking, laying under water for half an hour, 10 cm deep.
When I picked it up, even it was still under water the lock screen went on.
At home, after disassembly the phone, only under the battery cover where a few drops of water, futher the phone was dry. Even the headphone and micro-usb are no leaking path.
I use it now again for 2 weeks and it still works fine, without any trouble.
Bravo for HTC to make a phone, more than spashproof

Yes, htc is the shizz! I just brought mine back to life and everything works after dropping it on the deep side of my pool. On cases like mine, taking it apart right away and putting it on a bowl of uncooked rice for a week(just to be sure) and it will dry it completely!
Alas mine wasn't so lucky, fell in a puddle as I got into the car, grabbed it out, turned it off and removed battery, sim and SD, wiped as much water off as I could with tissues.
Left it for 2 days to dry, nada. Might be that the impact with the ground (wasn't that deep a puddle) killed it.
Embarassingly and luckily I'd only taken insurance out on it that lunchtime!
Wow, that's pretty impressive for a phone. Touchscreen phones are usually prone to most types of damage, but it's good to see being fully submerged in water didn't completely disable the phone.
You lucky guy
Hmmmmmm
I'm a little dubious... I spilled a really small amount of water from a glass on the bedside table onto my HD2. Even though I immediately jumped out of bed, cursed and wiped it dry, the water seeped into it. I could see the water in the LCD (it looked like a shadow that spread across the screen slowly over days). Two weeks later, the digitizer stopped responding to my touch even though the LCD itself still seems to work. I've hard reset the handset and that hasn't helped. I also tried heating up the unit a bit (without the battery) to try to have the water evaporate from it, but that hasn't helped either.
I took the phone into O2 who had their people look at it. Ultimately they said it was out of warranty because of water damage and that I could purchase a replacement (since I don't have insurance on it).
I'm considering trying to replace the digitizer, but it sounds like a lot of fuss and ultimately the phone won't be under warranty.
Annoying... I miss my HD2. I'm stuck with a Motorola Razr at the moment.
You can drop the phone in anything... aslong as the water does not have minerals that are conductive or prone to errosion it will be fine
[OP] just happen to have some clean water falling from the sky
I had a Blackberry Storm that once got submergered in baby oil.. It stopped working and I left it alone for A month or so...One day i picked it up and it started working... The LCD was messed up with Oil in it but other then that it worked...I opened it up and there was baby oil everywhere.... Got some distalled water and let it sit for a day or so to get it clean then replaced the LCD and it worked like new.
Distalled Water is H20 with notthing in it... As clean as water can get... Sine it has no conductive minerals you can drop a phone or PSP and it will work just fine.
Really?
I thought water itself was corrosive to metal? I can't imagine that the rainwater mentioned in the first post would be as clean as distilled water...
Anyway, I was wondering do you guys have have any suggestions? I have this lovely phone that boots up and I can't do anything with.
Should I just wait it out and see if it starts working again.

She is ALIVE !!!! After swimming ;)

Hello,
I'm happy bunny today as my lovely XP back to live !!!!!
On Saturday I was on walk in Brecon Waterfall County and during that I sliped and fallen into river. Unfortunate I had my phone in my pocket. Manage to get out and imediately removed battery from my Xperia. My heart stopped for moment when I saw that all water pouring from inside and I could see water behind display glass. :crying:
When returned home removed all covers and left to dry out.
Next day put all bits together and with shaking hands pushed power button. Big relief when feeled vibration and Doomlord image appear on screen.
Check and all function worked fine and then backlight started flickering and after few seconds phone went off and didn't want to start. :crying:
Tear went down my chick but I didn't give up and after investigation found that flexible ribbon start to disintegrate.
Place order on E-Bay, part arrived today. Fitted in and my XP is back !!!!!
Only what I found there some spots on LCD when off but not visible when screen is on.
It looks like it is hard to broke our phone. She is toughter than looks.
On pic The day after
That is always good news, side note.... putting a phone in a big bag of rice is also a good remedy too... the rice will pull the water out of the device. But good to know you tore down your device to the elements. Let it all dry out. Dropped an old moto phone in a lake once (kayaking) and used rice to do the trick. Anyways.... cheers.
Uww yes the ribbon cable..
Mine was broken too and then i had a nice colorful pixelated screen then i ordered one in the internet and i wait until today on it
I should order on on ebay!
sry my english isnt the best...
Hahaha this girl in my class dropped her iPhone 4 in the toilet a few days back and now every 8 minutes it over heats!! And even after she puts it in my teachers mini fridge for 15 minutes it still says its too hot....hahaha I love the durability of our play!!

I had mmine slide down a large boulder I was on....while taking video (well audio of nature rocks lol) the video was pretty funny, and short. Play was just fine hhaha, though I did have a crappy blue skull cover on the back and frame on the front, artwork was cool but horrid plastic tabs.

[Q] LG GWatch & Swimming

I was just wondering what peoples experiences were with the LG GWatch and water.
I am going on holiday in a few days, although the watch is rated as water resistant I'm still a bit worried.
I have seen several posts where people have kept their watch on whilst washing up or in the shower but what about swimming?
Have ever you kept your watch on in swimming pools (chemicals?) or the sea (salt water?) was there any issues?
Also should I be worried about sand?
This is the first watch I've worn in years & I'm not sure about how much abuse they can take, should I take it off before jumping on the water slides?

It's rated water resistant for splash water not water proof. I have washed my hands several times with the watch being submerged in water. Not a problem at all even with soap. You can probably even shower, although I do not recommend it. Swimming is a no go though, especially in salt water. Sand is fine as long as you don't rub it on the watch as that scratches the screen and everything else. Also sand might get stuck in the connections to the strap which then gets stuck. But if I was you, I would leave my watch in the apartment when going to the beach.
There's no such thing as a "water proof" watch. Only certain levels of resistance. The G Watch is rated to withstand submersion into a maximum of 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes (or equivalent pressure). Taking a shower could potentially exceed that (depending on your water pressure), as could swimming.
Agreeing with spiderflash, I also wouldn't worry about it while raining, washing my hands, going to Splash Mountain, or even washing the watch in the average sink. But I definitely wouldn't be bringing it with me into the shower, ocean, or swimming. Beach/sand would be fine, as the watch is dust proof. So long as you don't mind the sand scratching it to hell. I wouldn't bring it to the beach either.
If I'm doing one of those other activities...that's what my Timex Ironman is for!
Thanks for the replies, I'm really not comfortable in any of those situations so the watch will be definately be staying back where it's safe.:good:

[D]Discussion (is Xperia really waterproof phone) real experience!!

Hi everyone,
My topic is about waterproof Xperia and how really it is,
Sony today insists that waterproof is joker to bring more clients,
For me i had a bad experience with Sony, First Water Resistant phone i had is Xperia Z, I tested it in water cautiously because i putted in mind that it is water resist and its never damaged, then i moved to waterproof Z1 Compact, I really loved it Very good Battery Very good Processor in Compact size,I Decided to take with me to waterfalls to take pictures and its dead for month then back to life with no back-light panel!! (All working fine just the screen's back light off)
Today I have Z2 and yesterday i do the same thing take it to waterfalls, work fine taken pic with mates without put it underwater just drizzle of waterfall; then i see back camera get vapor inside!! the phone shut down itself i try to wake it but nothing, i putted it in my t shirt till i back to home.
when i backed to home i buy rice and put it in side for 4 Hours; Vapor out from back camera, i tried to start the phone again, vibrate OK but just dark screen; immediately i switched off again and put it in again in rice (learned from some YouTube video) for a night about 12H in morning i switch it on and its working fine, i test most function working fine till now. this is my experience.
What i want to say that waterproof its just luck, Most of you will say its not Professional it's just for accidental drop, i just say its certified IP58!! but the problem its Sony don't finish their phone correctly because there is still Xperia waterproof phone work fine even in sea. for me i'll never put a phone underwater ,i'll do it again
Edit:
Confirm, Its work like charm
Edit 2:
i'm suffering from DOA (Dead on Arrival) From time to time, i'm not sure about source of problem(not firmware)???
best regards.
To be honest I haven't tried. But a friends Z worked fine in water even after service that were made it due to a cracked screen (official service).
But I know lots of people that have S5 have put the multiple times in sea water and they are working all fine. So to me samsung has done a better work after reading that a lot of people here have had water intrusion or even humidity.
I have owned a Xperia Z and now own a Z2! When had my Z, even though he could not be submerged in chlorinated water (pool) I put several times and still works very well in the hands of a friend to whom I sold it. My Z2 is always dirty when I wash in the shower or on tap, never had a problem!
I believe some units really should come with manufacturing problem!
I guess you have bad luck. My xperia z2 is working fine after taking underwater photos. I also wash it every week in the tap water and still nothing bad happened. Just check if flaps are correctly closed before submerging.
Indeed bad luck. Submerged mine many times in a pool to about 2 m.
As long as the flaps are properly closed it works.
Do a web search and you will find a guy in Sweden who had a phone in the Baltic for 6 weeks at 10 m and it worked.
I put my Z2 in my marine aquarium to take photos, I use it to read reddit in the shower sometimes, so far so good
I've done so many times with my z1 and z2 but my z1 got ****ed because i took it in salt water in Thailand it was not functioning properly. Then i washed it with clean water then it was fine but after 4 months the screen was gone. Then i bought z2

I didn't tested with Z2 yet, but I always wash my previous phone Xperia V with running water if it's dirty, and last time I take it with me for boating, soaked with salt water, no problem at all, even the usb cover is loose (just the plastic link broken). battery is removable, causing less water-proof, but still no problem.
Z2 plastic covers are not tight, did you make sure it's secure before you take it to moistly area?
Had my phone in a pool, sauna, shower and wash it often to remove dirt, grease, oil etc, still works perfectly
I do however get condensation under the rear camera afterwards occasionally but it always clears up in a day or so and still works just fine

This is pics of my properly covered old Z2 (2 weeks old), after 2-3 mins in hotel pull (1.5 m deep).
Front & rear side was full of water, and after 5-6 mins Z2 was completely dead.
I bought Z2 in authorized Sony distributor (Comtrade) in my country (Serbia).
P. S. Z2 was not constantly under water. I just made couple of pics.
I swim with my Z2 And I wash it with soap for a few times a week. You know, there're a lotta bacteriae on your phones...

Once I washed mine with soap! Can not ???
I have Xperia Z1.
I have been in sea water for half hour almost every second day this summer, i have lot of pictures and videos to prove.
And i didnt have a single problem with my waterproofing, i dive a little bit, up to 1 and half meter, and about 10minutes, maybe more.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InN29dnyFRg
This is video from my friend, diving with his Xperia Z1 for 6minutes or more.
I had experience with Z, Z1 and now Z2 regarding water proofing and they were up to it! There might be defective devices but that doesn't mean the whole line is. Another thing is that flaps might not be closed properly or open accidently with water flushes so care should be taken with this. After pool or sea water exposure, the device should be washed with tap water and dried properly. Try applying negative pressure with your mouth on mic and speakers to remove retained droplets in them.
Here's my video under seawater......
http://youtu.be/c5JlK1Hwp3c
Water got under my camera lens and LED flash after bringing it into the shower. It completely dried up after 3 days though. However I'm guessing this was due to a manufacturing defect. Other than that, the phone's waterproof is rock solid reliable as my phone still operates perfectly.

I have had my Z2 for around 3 months now, went to the beach, swam in the sea and had shower with the phone, and it still works like a charm.
I even put it in my short's pocket at the beach and swam for more than 30 minutes before I put it out, no issues.
the Z2 is a true beast underwater in my opinion.
My work fine after alot of water action on a pool. I use it for a while underwater too since friends want to take pictures and videos for there facebook
Just make sure you close the lil side covers and you would be good.
Btw I notice that they are attach by a lil plastic stringy thing. Would that think hold for the lifetime of the phone are would i have problems with it. Cause by the way I see it they dont look like they would last long.

Sturdy Build Moto G 2014

Today in the afternoon I was waiting at the bus stop. My bus arrived and in a hurry I tried to put the phone in my back pocket. Didn't judge properly and imagine what happened next. My phone fell flat on the screen from 3 feet height with a loud thud. I was hoping for the worst. When I picked up the phone I was shocked to see that the phone didn't have even a single scratch not any crack. I was absolutely stunned and amazed for having seen the phone survive such an impact on the hard concrete. Hats off to Motorola for making such a sturdy phone.
PS: I have seen other devices. They didn't fare so good. Chasis and screen cracked easily even on the slightest impact.
Do share your experiences with the device Cheers !
Mods, if you feel this is an unwanted post, feel free to delete it, was just sharing my opinion.
Lucky u
In the day I got it from the store, my classmate let it fall screen-flat on the floor (I left it charging on a table).
She was terrified when it fell, but not a single scratch.
I dropped it twice but still not a single scratch & also I'm using a back cover?
sent from my moto g2
I threw it from about 4 feet distance trying to make it land on my bed, it bounced and fell hitting the left bottom corner, then bounced again and fell flat on the screen
no cracks or anything
@Gabboplano
Oh sweet jesus
Day one, I had mine sitting on the island in our kitchen. My overly excited teenage daughter came in swinging her arms around and hit my phone. The phone flew off the counter, banked off the oven door and landed face down on the tile floor. The impact was such that the back cover popped off. She immediately apologized and ran back out of the kitchen. I stood there staring at it on the floor for probably a good 10 seconds before i could even bring myself to pick it up and look...needless to say, not a scratch, crack, or ding anywhere on the device.
Do keep your replies and your stories coming.
Im in need of another phone, might purchase within a month or so. I am currently considering Asus Zenfone 5 and Moto G 2014. I've been reading around the Moto G 2 forums
