What carrier are you on?
I'm almost positive the stock att ROM & Wicked ROM had Bluetooth tethering.. I'm running FoxHound ROM now and it definitely has BT tethering I just checked it

Att is thecarrier.
I'm stock now, and there is no Bluetooth tethering.
Any chance you can test it fox hound? So Roms do show the settings but in fact doesn't function.
Trying to their nexes 7 to sgs4.
If you could tether and open a webpage as test that would be great help.
Thanks

Point us to an APK that does it...?
Exectly, it doesn't exist for the Vibrant yet.
Though, the OP could've searched and found that there is work going on, but it doesn't work 100% yet.

Wireless Tether for root users v2.0.5 pre7 works perfectly fine on the Vibrant. You BOTH "could've" searched.
Initially my post was about porting the stock wifi tethering on the i9000 if it was possible or not.

Works perfectly fine for some. I've had no luck with that. However, I have had some luck with barnacle.

Barnacle was working for me, but didn't like how I had to adjust the mtu on the pc I was using, like to just use it on anyone's stock mtu settings in windows. I'm using Wireless Tether for root users v2.0.5 pre7 now and it's working great. Much faster at accepting my connection and doesn't seem to stall out on big file transfers either.
Wireless Tether for root users v2.0.5 pre8 works great on my vibrant

Sprint Hotspot on unoffical froyo? "Block Authentication" out yet?

I am looking for a way to use the sprint hot spot on the leaked froyo build but it does not seem to be out yet.
Is there an app that works the same way as sprint hot spot. I don't want ad hoc because it does not support some devices. If anyone has anything that does not require "flashing" a custom rom to get this I need to know.
I found Moble AP but you need to flash it with clock work recovery and I would lose the froyo build.
Thanks in advance
No dice on AP and 2.2 on Epic. If AP is that important to you, go back to 2.1, else live with wireless tether and Ad-hoc.
If you search you will find what your looking for.
We have nothing got froyo yet but people are working on mobileap. We are still on a froyo leak so stuff like this is delayed cause official froyo may be different then are leaks
Sent From Da Hood.
I am guessing that means we have nothing for foryo yet and mobile ap is in the works but won't be out untill the offical release. I just hope I ca get it on the stock rom and I won't need to flash a custom rom to get it to work.

No
What I was looking for = Hot spot feature working of froyo via akp install.
What I would find = That there is nothing out right now but will be soon
Aka I would not have found what I was looking for if I searched.
Anyway we r getting of the main topic now. I am just going to flash back and get a custom rom that has it built in. Anyone have any recomendations on one?

You don't need a custom rom to use Wireless Tether. You just need to root your phone. Takes about 5 minutes or less. Why would you want to use the sprint app? The WT app has much more capability.

...Not if your device does not support adhoc wifi networks. A lot of gadgets it seems don't like adhoc wifi, so Mobile AP would be an alternative.

CM7 has wireless tethering built in. The wireless tether app from the market won't work. I don't remember exactly where it is in the settings, but I believe it's just under Wireless&Networks.

FREE USB, WiFi, Bluetooth Tethering

I know someone probably has posted this already but over an hour looking for a suitable solution without installing some app on my phone and computer...
I was running CleanG3 on my Epic and the USB and WiFi tethering worked fine but got sick of the update notification to FC09, so I resetup my phone with Android 4.0.4 ICS and CyanogenMod 9 B3. Normally I would simply ask on that thread but my account limitations says I can't...
I want to use the built in USB or WiFi tethering but it has to be "unlocked" first because I'm not paying Spring $40/mo to use my own unlimited data. Even the Bluetooth tethering would be cool, but really I only need one of them to work and prefer USB.
Anyone know of something I can flash or what ever to get rid of the sprint checks so it works?
Thanks in advance!

If your on cm9 your good to go... you can use the built in tethering...
Settings>more>tethering and you are good to go.

I was trying that... Found the issue though.
In order for USB Tethering to work you have to disable USB Debugging. I don't really know why my original test of WiFi tethering didn't work, but after disabling debugging that seems to work now too. Still haven't tested the BT Tether, but I have a feeling maybe that works too.
Thanks for the assistance!

FoxFi is working fine on stock no root required.
Sprint is blocking it in the Market, but you can download apk directly from their web site.

Im having a similar issue. Im rooted with the stock Rom. I dont have a custom rom nor do i really want one for the fact that im still new to all this and i probably wouldnt know how to.
My issue is that i cannot wifi tether my phone to my laptop. I have the app WiFi Tether. I enabled access. I have checked usb debugging. But for some reason my laptop does not read that my phone is a wireless router... I have also tried physically usb connecting it but it wont work that way either. Anyones help would be appreciated.

Try foxfi which was posted right above your post... just tried it and it worked great for me... could be a problem with it not broadcasting in infrastructure, but in ad hoc... some cpus don't connect to ad hoc networks... foxfi should broadcast infrastructure...

Trying to figure out the problem with my internet connection so i figured id revive this thread. I downloaded foxfi with no issues and it worked great up until this morning... I have a feeling it is because of the new system update but not sure. I notice that when foxfi is running now it no longer activates sprint hotspot like it used to. Any suggestions or someone know anything? Thanks in advance.

We just tend to assume that accidental strays into this forum are Touch owners, because that phone does at least have "Epic" in the name...

That explains why I forgot that the Touch is the GS2... as soon as I learned that the Epic Touch lacked the hw keyboard, I tuned it out
I think I've been elligible for my upgrade for at least a month or three, but I'm seriously considering sticking with my OG Epic until it dies - hopefully a worthy replacement will come out by then...

okay, so there is no charge from sprint for this then, correct? or is there?? i dont want to be surprised when my bill comes!
Im running CM9.
No. They cannot add the fee unless you request adding the plan and agree to terms and conditions. However they can cancel you altogether for excessive data use under TOS. It is hard to prove you are using your phone as a modem without a tethering plan so they cancel you for excessive data use. Reading between the lines means don't be a data hog.

That's the next update that's in the wings for our phones. This has some new code for Bluetooth and maybe other things I am not familiar with. But with this update alone, I highly doubt tmo will "add" wifi-calling to the N4 or even ever. If they intended it, they would have installed it on the Tmo version/sold by of the N4.
Right, but is it that integrated of an app that someone cannot port it into a custom rom, from a t-mobile phone on jellybean that has wifi-calling?

I don't know the semantics but the gist is not just an apk. I think it intertwines with framework and that's a lot of shifting through code to bring one app to light. I mean there's a thread created with a reward of like over $1,400 to "port" it. lol

That reward thread pretty much speaks for itself then.. lol...
Yeah I believe for ICS it still was an app, and easier to work with. But I did notice that in Jellybean it's no longer in app form, and it seems to be tied into the updated sim cards they are running and I guess, more "baked" into the framework itself.
You would think they would come out with a stand-alone app for ppl without actual T-mobile branded phones..
