So, will the nexus ever see a ported version of WiFi calling for T-Mobile?

I really don't think so. With 4.3 coming out soon, I really really don't think so.(Please prove me wrong tmo!)

Why do you mention 4.3 exactly?

That's the next update that's in the wings for our phones. This has some new code for Bluetooth and maybe other things I am not familiar with. But with this update alone, I highly doubt tmo will "add" wifi-calling to the N4 or even ever. If they intended it, they would have installed it on the Tmo version/sold by of the N4.

Right, but is it that integrated of an app that someone cannot port it into a custom rom, from a t-mobile phone on jellybean that has wifi-calling?

I don't know the semantics but the gist is not just an apk. I think it intertwines with framework and that's a lot of shifting through code to bring one app to light. I mean there's a thread created with a reward of like over $1,400 to "port" it. lol

That reward thread pretty much speaks for itself then.. lol...
Yeah I believe for ICS it still was an app, and easier to work with. But I did notice that in Jellybean it's no longer in app form, and it seems to be tied into the updated sim cards they are running and I guess, more "baked" into the framework itself.
You would think they would come out with a stand-alone app for ppl without actual T-mobile branded phones..

I wouldn't worry too much. I'm sure Samsung is tired of being shown up by a bunch of dev's on a forum who don't get paid for what they do. I'm not worried though because even if they go to a locked bootloader, give it a week or two and someone will find a way to unlock it or just get around it. I have full confidence in the dev's here...
This is a leak for the International version of the Galaxy S....this might not mean anything for us just yet...
At least it's a start. Given that the International versions got their Froyo in November (?), maybe we'll get ours in roughly 3 months after that due to conversions to CDMA and all the other stuff our unique Epics have.

With Moto already locking bootloaders and HTC fiddling with the idea, I think a lot of people in the scene are a bit concerned.
I can totally see the entire hobby marginalizing itself to Nexus devices some day. It's not like any major vendor is going to step up just to appeal to a tiny community of hackers any more than carriers are stepping up to make their networks strong enough for that 2% of customers sucking up bandwidth. :/
How can they legally lock the bootloaders? Wasn't it ruled that once we purchase these devices, they're OURS and we can hack/root/jailbreak them all we want?

Yes but they can develop it as they see fit and put any protections they want in. What was decided was its legal to break their protections.

You can hack it all you want and void your warranty, but they are not required to ALLOW you the ability to do it. They just can't do anything about it other than void your warranty.

It might help a bit with the camera and GPS though.

No offense to the devs, but does it really make a huge deal if its gsm/cdma? I know the difference between the 2 networks.I've had the epic since nov. Or dec. ,and coming from the htc hero the devs in that forum kicked ass(no offense to the ones here).but I noticed they'd make roms for the htc hero(cdma) from gsm roms.I belive they even got gingerbread fully working for that phone, haven't checked.sorry if it sounds like I'm pissed or something, not pointing fingers.really appreciate the work y'all done for this phone, for real.

You seem like a decent guy but, first the guy that took the time to answer your post is one of the biggest names and best developers here currently.
Second, what the devs do is way beyond 'hacks'. This is open source software which is basically rebuilding the os from the ground up.
In any case and as he said you have a mesmerize . So just flash mez builds. I would recommend glitched AOKP personally.

Any AOSP ROM's in the works?

From what I understand AOSP ROMs require a new kernel, which we are unable to flash due to limitations from a locked bootlader.

Can assume CM will work on a version for unlocked (TMobile) version that a dev could use to port to Verizon. Last I heard there was issues with call audio but that was a while ago and nothing official.

I'm Coming To GN3 to Dev! I have a few questions

Hey guys! After finally finding out that i will be moving to Verizon (Finally after 4 years of T-mobile) i will be purchasing the Galaxy Note 3 and would like to begin development. First i want to say that i am very excited and thrilled to be able to develop for you guys! I do have a few questions so i can see how im going to plan out the development.
Is DSIXDA's Kitchen Supported for this GN3?
Any CM Builds Out There?
What do you guys want to see in a ROM?
It will be a couple of weeks before i will officially have the device in my hands but I am planning early. I do have ROM development skills and have a good background of it. (Check my signature for some of my work). I take pride in being one of the younger developers on these forums and its very cool to get to do what i do and enjoy it. Please help me by answering these questions for me. Also if there are any ROM devs that see this please comment or PM me because i would really like to get to know you! Thanks again guys!

Not sure what DSIXDA's Kitchen is.
No CM do to most of us having a locked bootloader, there's 20 people with the dev edition but most of us have retail and use safe strap to loads roms. (which I prefer anyway because of the multi boot)
I want to see something amazing

Oh i didn't know there were 2 different Note 3s. I haven't officially purchased the Note 3 yet but I do plan on buying it through Verizon with a 2yr contract. Do they offer the Dev edition with a 2yr contract? If so i will probably go with that one instead of the retail version.
