Thank You for sharing this Rooting method, however why didn't you use Chainfire CF-Auto-Root or Mskip's Root Toolkit? They are both excellent ways of rooting..
I just got mine and still studying which way to root but for sure will consider your way.. CF-Auto-Root is a stable and trusted tool but Mskip's toolkit is an all in one tool that also installs CWM and do a lot of other useful tasks..

ehhhh, everybody has a prefered method. I like to use Fram as well. It is one of the few methods that does not require a PC. You install the apk & one click later you are rooted. It also has an "unroot" option, that is great if needed when you don't have a PC, or if you want to change to a different SU app, like Koush's CWM SuperUser.
Skips & CF's are great methods, but when you are away from a PC, Framaroot is about the only solution.
*However, this probably belongs in the General section since it really isn't development, let alone OG development.

[GUIDE - I9300/M440S] Yet Another Root/UnRoot Guide

Hello, as XDA has helped me when I first got into Android, I would like to show my appreciation and contribute back to XDA and because I see people bricking (even hardbricking) their S3 everyday.
Samsung Galaxy S3 - GT-I9300 - SHW-M440S
Standard Disclaimer
I, XDA or anyone else is NOT responsible for whatever happens to you or your device by following this guide. If you have problems/issues, ask politely and XDA and myself will try our best to help you out. You will not receive help from me or XDA if you cannot type/speak in a proper manner with decent english. Happy Rooting Oh yeah, if your device is somehow wiped, it is not my problem, make a backup. This will void your warranty.
What is and why ROOT?By rooting your phone, essentially means to give yourself superuser/administrator access on it. This is being the highest level of administrator on the device. This allows you to change the interface of your phone. Once your phone is "rooted" you can install custom ROMs (they look alot like themes, just google the name and you'll see plenty of examples). You can also download applications that require ROOT for use on the device.
Tools NeededThe files are hosted on my server (for the sake of simplicity), on my domain and are CLEAN unedited files.
They are updated as updates come out.Ignore whatever warnings it throws at you.

Triangle Away (Optional) -
Let's get started
Download all required files from the list above
Extract everything (except CF_Root/CWM Tar) - If you see recovery.img, then you've done something wrong.
Open up ODIN
Click PDA
Select the CWM.tar or CF-Root file
Check at least THREE times to make sure everything is on default - ESPECIALLY FOR RE-PARTIONING. Make sure it is NOT checked.
Connect your device in download mode ( Hold Home, Vol DOWN, and power with device initially off )
Check for "Added!!" in ODIN
Click Start (In ODIN, not the Windows Taskbar =.=)
Let it flash away, - DO NOT UNPLUG OR DO STUPID THINGS
Check which method you use and follow the next part.
If you used CF-ROOT, you are done. Just boot back up.
If you used the CWM.tar, follow "CWM.tar Rooting Method".
Optionally, use Triangle Away to reset the Custom Download Counter.
CWM.tar Rooting Method
Copy SuperSU.zip on your SD-Card.
Go in CWM ( Hold Home, Vol UP, and power with device initially off )
Go to "flash update from zip"
Select your medium (internal or external SD)
Find SuperSU.zip
Click on it
Click Yes
Once done, reboot phone

Now time to install SuperSU on your phone
Go to play store and search for SuperSU and download it. Open it. After opening it will ask to update binary script Select continue and now it will ask for installation of the file. One you will have as normal mode other one would be TWRP/CWM. We don't have CMW/TWRP installed for now so select Normal mode and application will update itself!
In case if you have rooted and installed any recovery manually install the updater script from recovery. Place it in SD card reboot into recovery and install it. Download here
Installing the Recovery (CWM for those who haven't installed recovery) (With Unlocked Bootloaders)
1) Download Flashtool to your PC -- http://www.flashtool.net/download.php
2) Install it and open it.
3) Go to where you have downloaded flash tool zip file and locate "driver" there. Open it and install the C5302/03/06 driver for your phone. After installation of drivers open Flashtool.
4) Connect your Xperia SP to your PC now. Make sure that the connection is up to the mark.
5) Hit the smart lightening button on the right upper left side and select “Fastboot Mode.”. Make sure that usb debugging is on when you connect to PC
6)On the right side, click on “Reboot Device into Fastboot Mode.”
(If this doesn’t work for you, manually put your device into Fastboot Mode and connect it to your PC. To do so, turn off your Xperia device and now connect to your PC while keeping the Volume Up key pressed. As soon your PC detects your device, the blue LED will turn on showing fastboot mode.)
7) Now click on “Select Kernel to flash”.
8)In the format selection, by default it will be “*.sin”. Change it to *.elf.
Now select the DoomLord Advanced Stock Kernel.elf file that you downloaded first of all and flash it.
9)This kernel will flash CWM recovery in your device. Disconnect your device now.
Turn it on, as soon as you see the Sony Logo, press Volume – Key 5 to 6 times and you should see the CWM recovery interface now.
Install Recovery on Locked Bootloaders

1. There's no need to change kernel to root
2. U can't install custom kernel with locked bootloader,u're ure giving instructions to brick phones
3. There's no need for towelroot to have internet acces to work
4. And talking about Towelroot, there's a thread with towelroot in this forum (about three actually)
5. There are recoveries for locked booleaders, also there's an index with it in general
5. What with all ad f.ly and ad links? are u trying to make money? put a link to the original thread or the links of creators if is not your work

Apologies on first part for letting adfly links on the tutorial wasn't aware of this rule.
Secondly towelroot gave error on my Xperia SP that "Please make sure you are connected to internet" that's why I advised to stay connected likewise SuperSU would take Internet connetion to download then why not to be on safe side
As considered with that custom kernel flashing thing thank you for correcting me! You saved a blunder mishap and prevented it from happening thanks a LOT!:highfive::angel:
I always give credits to the one who created the original stuff! I NEVER TAKE CREDITS FOR OTHER'S WORK
And RED is a color that is easily hilighted and people actually pay more attention to words written in red rather than any other color
Just Saying
:good:
Wut? Towelroot now needs internet conection? D: maybe sounds paranoic, but don't like xD
and one more thing, you can install SU from the zip w/o recovery, just open the zip with a file manager and look into 'common' folder, there's a Superuser.apk in there, install as normal APK, and you can update binaries with the zip w/o internet too (just open SU app and click normal, the same as you said)

[Q] rooting nexus 7 first time

so i recently got the 2012 nexus 7 from my step daughter she wasnt using. i replaced the usb port cause it was messed up. im trying to root it and im following some guides and it says to make sure usb debugging is checked but i cant find it. im on 4.4.4 latest one and cant find it at all anyone shed some light on it please
nvm got it
still cant get the dang thing to root. i got recovery in there and everything but when i go to super user it says no su binary installed
ok i cant find anything can someone point me in right direction ive tried a couple different ones and none work
Hey man,
Use search in future, please
But here's what you need. I did this with my "virgin" Nexus 7 2012 (virgin by means, it ran over 1 year stock).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1741395
But in step 4, instead of CWM, i flashed TWRP recovery, because I like it more. Process remain the same.
But PLEASE ! Read before you attempt to do anything.
I did search for like 3 hours trying to find something that would work with 4.4.4 and never came across this but thank u I'll take a look. I already have it unlocked and clock work instilled but I guess I can't get super user to install. I'm not sure

Hi, bjballar41...
Rooting the Nexus 7 is a piece of cake... well, I think so anyway.
Essentially, it's a three stage process...two of which you've already accomplished.
1) Unlock the bootloader. Check... YOU'VE DONE!
2) Flash a Custom Recovery. Check... YOU'VE DONE! (ClockWorkMod installed).
*****
3) Using that Custom Recovery, flash ChainFires SuperSU root package. YET TO BE DONE...
-----------------------
Here's how...
The third piece of this jigsaw can be found here...
http://download.chainfire.eu/567/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.13.zip
Using Chrome (or whatever Android browser you favour) download it directly to your Nexus 7.
Chrome, and most Android browsers, download stuff to the /download folder on your device. Wherever it gets downloaded to, it's important that you take note of it's location.
-----------------------
Next, boot into your Custom Recovery (CWM), as follows...
** Fully shut down the device.
** With your N7 shut down... press & hold the VOL DOWN button... whilst holding, press POWER ON.
** Your N7 should now boot into the bootloader.
** Using either of the volume buttons, cycle through the options until you see the RECOVERY MODE option. Press the Power button to select it.
** Your Nexus 7 should now boot into your Custom Recovery, CWM.
** From the the CWM menu options, select the following...
- install zip
- choose zip from /sdcard
- select 0/ from the menu option
- navigate to the folder where you downloaded the UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.13.zip file to earlier
** Select it, and confirm... YES - Install UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.13.zip.
** Then tap Go Back (at the bottom) followed by Reboot System Now.
** Ignore any 'Fix Root messages'... this is a spurious CWM error message. Ignore it, and just proceed with a reboot.
-----------------------
Your Nexus 7 should now be rooted. ...hopefully...
I've just run this exact procedure on my Nexus 7, and I had no problems at all.
You can check you have root via a plethora of root checking tools available on PlayStore, or just by installing and running Titanium.
Good luck, and hope this helps.
Rgrds,
Ged.

I would recommend you to convert to f2fs and use ART.
Try slimkat(all-f2fs) its fast and never slows down even after a month and tons of apps.
For playing around you can try Liquid smooth or Mahdi.
What do I have to do to convert to f2fs? Im so rusty I haven't put a ROM on since galaxy s2

Just bought my S7 EDGE today. Which ROM should I install?

Just that guys. I would like to install a ROM today but base in your experience which is the most stable and is always up to date?

Pretty old but does A LOT of things.
I am gonna take advantage of this post to ask you, where I can find a tutorial to root my S7 edge? Saw many ways to do it, even read about an "auto root". I think I can even root my phone with one of those methods but I haven't read a xda tutorial yet. Is there any around here?

Okidodi here is a complete guide to rooting your S7 Edge:
FULL STEPS FOR OBTAINING ROOT
In your ROM, go to Settings -> About device. Tap 7 times on Build number to enable Developer options.
Now go to Settings -> Developer options. (above About device)
You need to enable OEM unlock, otherwise you might end up with boot problems or be unable to flash later on.
Extract Odin_3.10.7.zip to your computer.
Install Samsung Mobile Phone Drivers for Odin to find your device in windows.
Download a .tar image of TWRP for hero2lte.
Reboot your device into Download mode. To do this, select reboot from the power menu and hold the [Volume Down] + [Home] buttons while your device reboots.
Once you reach the Download mode warning screen, press [Volume Up] to continue.
Open Odin and place that TWRP tar file in the [AP] slot without touching any other options, then press [Start].
Hold [Volume Up] + [Home] buttons near the end of the flash, and keep holding them until you are in recovery.
At this point, you will reach the screen asking you if you want to allow system modifications.
By swiping right, you will trigger dm-verity, and if you don't follow step 11 you will be unable to boot!
If you are going to root your device and follow the rest of these steps, then it is safe to swipe right and enable modifications.
Only if you want internal storage or data to work in TWRP:
Go to [Wipe] -> [Format Data] (not advanced wipe) -> type "yes".
WARNING: This will wipe your internal storage, disable encryption, and factory reset your phone!
Go to [Reboot] -> [Recovery].
If you want to be rooted with SuperSU:
Download the latest SuperSU by Chainfire.
Without exiting TWRP, transfer the SuperSU zip to your device over MTP* and flash it using [Install] in TWRP.
Alternatively, if you only want a bootable system partition or writable data in TWRP:
Download dm-verity and force encryption disabler.
Without exiting TWRP, transfer no-verity-opt-encrypt.zip to your device over MTP* and flash it using [Install] in TWRP.
Go to [Reboot] -> [System].
Wait 5-15 minutes for your device to finish setting itself up.

good morning everyone. any recommendations on the rom which is best for gaming> I play marvel contest of champions a lot and its painfully slow on my new s7 edge. ive tried all kinds of troubleshooting and now finally am going to try rooting and custom rom. the hardware is there but im guessing they throttled the gpu performance to save battery and its super choppy. thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Can you tell me about echoe, what the rom can does !? And why is the best !? My edge not running Echoe yet. But i thinks King R is good too. It have good performance, fast update, some good tweak for daily using. With me (now), i think King R is best rom for custom UI for s7e.

I seem to be blind or just stupid, cant find anything on why I can't access their s7 forum/threads. Can you point me to the right direction?
Superman. Currently on 1.8.1 and combined with AEL Kernel it's the most stable ROM I've used.
I like the Nyssa Nexus C rom. It is quite stable.

Go to [Reboot] -> [Recovery].
Go to [Reboot] -> [System].
Wait 5-15 minutes for your device to finish setting itself up.

Thank you so much for posting this! I have been looking for precise instructions to root for a very long time. This looks pretty straightforward. I too came from the Cydia world and was quite comfortable there. Rooting has always seemed so scary because the instructions i've seen posted has looked shady.
Now, does anyone recommend a ROM or hack I can use to enable mobile hotspot/FoxFi to work on my ATT S7 edge? How would I accomplish this?

Just that guys. I would like to install a ROM today but base in your experience which is the most stable and is always up to date?

Stay on stock but take the newest Firmware (pf2).
Debloat it and have fun with a stable and fast rom.
