i have a Tx2-1005au, it's a multi touch enabled convertible tablet laptop. i was wondering if it was possible to install Windows 8 on it....i recently downloaded the 32 bit preview iso from the net.
i tried to install (dual boot) it in my desktop, but it refused 2 get installed...d popup said "get the x64 bit preview to enjoy Windows 8". apparently, am running a custom version of Windows 7 on my desktop (Razor Light Annihilation x64 bit).
on my laptop, am having a 32bit version of another custom Windows7 (dream edition) on my laptop. can i install it on my lappy?????.....the reason am bugging you guys wid dis question is am having all f mah college projects on my laptop along with my android development apps, etc, etc...so if it stops booting,i'll be in deep sh*t.....please guyz, gimme a lead!!!!!......waiting eagerly for reply
Just buy some blank dvds and burn a backup copy of all your schoolwork and development onto them if they're that important to you, its standard procedure with OS installs.
Definately put windows 8 on that badass tablet pc of yours and experience the future

How did you get ICS working? Does the touchscreen work on ICS too?
I'm so JEALOUS! My tx2's motherboard burnt out on me, and it's virtually impossible to find a new replacement. It's not under warranty either. It was a manufacturer's defect though..
If any of you awesome Tx2 and Tm2 users know where I can find one, please PM me!

How do you know its "burnt out"? Do you get the blinking caps and no. lock?
If you do, then its usually very much fixable.
One google search later..
Here is a new motherboard, its £80.

RK66 Mini Android TV Box

Hi all. The other day I was "lucky" winner RK66
(pandawill ! com/rk66-mini-android-tv-box-android-41-bluetooth-rk3066-dual-core-1g-ram-hdmi-tf-8gb-p69361 ! html)
Summarizes the characteristics: Rockchip RK3066, ARM Cortex-A9 dual core, 1.2GHZ; GPU: Mali-400 MP4 quad core
Interested in running it XBMC (xbmc ! org).
Now there is a RC3 version for Android devices, but it is not a pleasant limit screen resolution (1280x672).
I also read about a version of linux for android mini pc, but it is in the stage of pre-alpha.
Maybe someone else knows what or installation options XBMC (media center or similar)?
Just looking for information on updating the device in the future, where I can get the firmware?
Interested in running CyanogenMod and firmware based on it.
XBMC like the ability to install additional plug-ins to watch online movies from websites.
P.S. Sorry for my bad English.
Edit: Sorry misread your post. Yes linux Pi****u is 0.3 alpha. Wireless isn't working on it properly yet among other things.
There is a XBMC Frodo Beta 2 on the net somewhere done by someone called Lewy I've not tried it but it works on the MK808
If you search youtube for MK808 XBMC beta 2 the video will show up. From what I've read a lot of the features are working with this version, but again I've not tried it.
Hope this helps.

This device is quite similar to others like the MK802iii from the sounds of it. Progress on CM on them will likely help this, given it's an RK3066 CPU as well.
Thanks for answers.
I realized that I would have to wait.
Even test the version XBMC, support for Full HD still no.
Do not tell me how to get root rights on this ustroyve or similar?
P.S. They are in very short supply for functions mount, reboot.
http://cm3066.com/ CM10 for the MK808 maybe it will work?

Hi, Free4ert! Maybe this could help you?! http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.php?3134-NEW-iMito-MX1-2-Finless-ROM-1-5-Root-debloat-init-d-support&highlight=ug802
Please read the threat, as I understood, running on hi-res the thingy heats pretty much!
BTW I understand that you perchased your RK66 at pandawill. Did it come with a powersupply or is this an extra to buy? I would appreciate your answer. Thanks
Has anybody confirmed this? I am interested as well as I have recently purchased an rk66 mini tv box.
Just looking for information on updating the device in the future, where I can get the firmware?
Interested in running Cyanogen Mod and firmware based on it.

Ubuntu or jelly bean for Samsung 7.7

Ubuntu is releasing its tablet version this week for developers, but its only for nexus devices, let's hope this will be available for our 7.7 also. My only dream id to run both jb and Ubuntu as dual boot on this tab

I have spare Galaxy Tab 7.7 that I'm not that actively using, but I would like to try an port the Ubuntu touch for it. Any hints how to start? I have been working with software since 90's but I have no idea how to go forward.
So what I have understood is that what Canodical did was to take latest stable CM 3.5.xx kernel and then compiled their Ubuntu software on top of that?
I don´t know anything about porting ubuntu or roms but this page should help: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting Well at least if u guys are talking about ubuntu touch...

Thx for help. I'm setting now Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on my spare laptop (Acer TimelineX 3820TG) with needed build environments.
I have no guarantees that anything what I'm trying will work, but I really hope that I can avoid bricking my gt-6800 and get the cm10.1 kernel to work with the device. After that it should be quite straight forward to get the build up and running in some shape.
Ok, now I have the environment set-up, but there are no kernel confs available. So it seems that I have to either found them somewhere or create a new one and then try to figure it out. It seems that Iocerras kernel is a bit old (3.0.xx series). We'll, as soon as I have something to show, I'll put the information available in the development section on this forum and release the first version of the platform. But currently the image build is on hold because I need to concentrate my daily work.
Will the cm10.1 not work?

There is no build for gt-p6800 available in CM10.1 with kernel sources. I'm still investigating where I might find the needed sources so that I can compile the kernel and start upgrading it towards 3.5.xx release.
Try this if you want the Ubuntu look right now

Works great

Heh, anyway I think I'm getting quite close to on finishing the first ever build for ubuntu-touch for gt-p6800...
I had to create two new repositories because the kernel and device configuration that is available is so messed up. I hope I do not have many legacy kernel problems anymore when I'm making the first build here.
Are there any gt-p6800 dev's around still or has the ship sailed already from this device. I really like it because its premium build quality, but I hate it if there is no one else interested on the device anymore
YEAH, first build done.
If someone has a good idea where to dump the image for others to test, please notify me in this thread or PM me.

It depends on what you find necessary or what you like For you there might not be anything, for me I find it interesting and useful.

I use Ubuntu as my desktop OS at home. Canonical is looking to make your Ubuntu phone your only device. Android is a great mobile platform but is not a desktop platform. Ubuntu has a desktop platform and a tv platform both sitting on top of a common Linux kernel. If Ubuntu phone works as promised you'll have all three platforms in a single unified device depending on what the device is connected to. Standalone it is a phone/phablet/tablet depending on the device. Attach it to a tv and it is a media centre. Dock it to a keyboard, mouse and monitor it becomes a full desktop. Each with their own interface optimised for that use case rather than trying to make one interface that sort of works for all. If Canonical pulls this off it will be a winner.

I would definetely prefer a well running Ubuntu to Android. Meaning phone, data, wifi working. The hardware of my tablet is almost as good as the hardware of my laptop running Ubuntu. 1.4Ghz vs 1.8 Ghz, 1Gb Ram vs 2.5Gb, powervr xyz vs geforce 7400m. One device to rule them all .

Change my T428 to MK908 ?

Hello all !
Sorry for mistakes, I'm french.
I've order a Tronsmart T428 one week ago, Do you tkink i should change it with a Tronsmart MK908 ?
I feel there is morte to follow on MK908 about development than T428.
On MK908 there are Fineless custom rom, 1080p original... But nothing on T428 with same hardware.
What do you think about it ?
Thank you for all

I think that you should keep your T428. For me it is better than the MK908, at least on the wifi side (supports 5Ghz, while the other one does not) and has Bluetooth 4.0, which is faster than the traditional 2.1 on the MK908.
Last but not least, the CPU is natively at 1.8Ghz, while on MK908 it's at 1.6Ghz (this can be easily changed, but stock I think it is still true).
As for good ROMs, I still need to search for some, but I'll do that as soon as my t428 arrives. If you did not understand just PM me in French .
I would say wait. A new firmware just came out yesterday if you check the geekbuying blog. It seems like development will be the same for either of these if you follow [email protected] the freaktabs forums. Still waiting on mine...should be here any day I hope!

I think that you got it wrong...
You said that you have the MK908 II, but there's no such devices.
The MK908 is a brand new item, on the otherhand there's an MK809 II, so you might have read a lil bit too fast.
Anyway, if you're enjoying your dongle then keep it, there's no need to ditch it for an MK9808.
However if it was a brand new purchase, then go for the MK908, it's just awesome !

XOOM 2013 Development [B2G][ChromeOS][Ubuntu|Touch][4.4][Linux]

As its taking our community a lot of time to build 4.4 if it ever becomes possible i thought it would be a good idea to start a thread of ideas and any new information for other developments on the xoom.
The idea of this thread is to look to alternative sources of development for the Xoom!
This is what I have seen so far in terms of Ideas from sources other than Android:
IDEAS:
Chromium OS for Tegra (port using tegra 2 drivers)
Kernel based on tegra 2 Open Source Driver Project
Ubuntu Touch (half working port somewhere)
I have a feeling the open source driver could help with the Kernel for KitKat. ive been doing a lot of reading on kernels so i hope to do lots of experimenting =]
CONTRIBUTE HERE ANY IDEAS OR KNOWLEDGE I WILL ADD IT TO THE POST!
Files found for people to mess around with
FOUND NVIDIA TEGRA 2 AND 3 DRIVERS... i dont know if this is the source havnt had the chance to look but heres a zip (SOURCE: Linux for Tegra r16.3)
cousins
Devices that belong to our Xoom Family
Maybe some of the Xooms cousins which share the Nvidia Tegra 2 Gene can help us out !
(image wont upload so heres a link to Tegra Wiki)
XOOM TEGRA SPECS:
Tegra 250 AP20H (Ventana)... 300Mhz GPU.. the Tegra T20 (Harmony) has 333Mhz and appears to be the only difference... theres also the Tegra 3D Ap25 and T25 which have 1.2Ghz CPU's and 400Mhz GPU's
INCLUDES:
Motorola Atrix 4G
Moto Droid X2 (4.4 dev - i dont think its been successful yet)
Moto Photon (? never heard of this!)
and other brands
WIll be watching the Moto sources carefully then have a look at other manufacturers! (a good 15.. another 25 on the othe version of Tegra 2)
It would be awesome to have a Ubuntu touch port that could be used as a daily driver

Yeah it would be nice, im looking at chromeOs for arm though if i could get a build working apparently Hexxeh got it ported to the nexus 7 which i believe uses tegra 4?
the main thing im looking at is porting things over from other Nvidia Tegra 2 based projects so anyone with any information on other devices with Tegra 2 give me a shout... any open source work may spark some ideas! =]
Trimslice
Well, this is a Fedora proyect, the CompuLab's Trimslice is a Tegra 2 device. I hope it helps you out in some way.

I'm willing to help test with my Xoom. Just picked up a Samsung Note 10.1 specifically so that I would be able to start tinkering with my Xoom. I may not be able to help develop, but I am somewhat comfortable with Linux and with flashing ROMs, etc.
