CIQ is it back again? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

So I was just reading on twitter that the T-Mobile version of the S4 does again have CIQ on the divice. Makes me wonder if Sprint and Samsung also put it back into the roms for the newly released S4.

someone send my framework-res.apk ill toss it to him for him to decompile it, but i doubt it very much, tmobile never stopped using ciq

Yes, it's on the T-Mobile device, but not deeply embedded. That's the only piece in the framework I've found thus far.
No, it's not going to be on your device. Sprint ditched CIQ like a live 415-volt three-phase line in a snowstorm.

Yeah I know they ditched it. Seeing your tweet honestly made me wonder however.

CDMA Froyo Leak

From Android Central for Verizon Fascinate...

Wow
Wonder who's gonna get in trouble for hacking verizon servers.
For that is the only feasible way that I could ever possibly believe on how someone got their hands on the source code.

This is how it should be done! Samsung and the carriers SHOULD have a developer update. That way developers can sign up for the beta releases so they can go in and help fix problem areas. That way, they'll have updates for everyone else MUCH, MUCH faster.
Instead, they're either firing or hiring a new head Android programmer at Samsung:

i just hope this gets in the hands of our boys and trhey can actually do something with it
This is good news for us.
Not sure what it really means, if anything for us. Just an interesting find, if it's even true. If our boys could get anything from it that would be awesome. I am interested to see what VZW has done with the build, and if any of the DK28 bugs could be fixed with some code form this build. Still, I don't think we will see it. More than anything, if Verizon gets an update out the heat will really be on Sprint to get something out. I am just starting to get concerned that our work is being further delayed by this February 7th announcement that Sprint is prepping.

I read the article and it says nothing about source code... Just a leaked build like our DK28. They probably got it from a Samsung guy sympathetic to their cause.

That's also why it doesn't mean quite so much for us, unless they can utilize and code in the build for bug fixes in our own. I just think that both Sprint and Verizon will be under increased pressure to get things out.
Oh man. I wonder if the TV Out drivers are in there.
Probably just some internal leak from an employee fed up with the wait...possibly.

Ok so another reliable vzw source tweeted today that they soft released bb os 6.0 and "sammy up next". Looks like even though vzw is mum on the update communication, they will likely beat sprint to the punch.

Good morning all! Apparently we soft launched os6 update for bb. Hope u all are enjoying it. Sammy up next

EC05 ROMs and Sprint ID

I would like to vote for NO Sprint ID. My kids had Transforms (until they switched to evo shifts). That ID stuff .. SUCKS ....
I'm just curious. What exactly is Sprint ID?

It is something they added that is basically like a theme changer.
who said anythign about sprint ID in EC05?
It's not really a theme changer what T-Mobile made for 2.3 is a theme changer, it basically is a application pack that gives you certain apps/advertisements varying on what pack you download. It's a crappy idea because all it does is change your wallpaper and give you random applications. Doesn't benefit the user.

Not quiet true. Basically it allows you to choose what Sprint apps you want on your phone and other customizations. It adds widgets ect. It's one single apk and will be easily removable...... Now if Sprint really wanted to make life easier they would make Samsung scrap TW
Sprint said they were including Sprint ID on all their phones when they first announced it. In a Q&A they said it was coming to the Epic. I was surprised it wasn't in EB13.

Has anyone seen this Samsung launcher yet?

Anyone see Samsung's bizarre "Pure Breeze" launcher yet? I'm sure it's a different division, but I'm glad to see they're working on bull**** like this instead of things like Gingerbread updates.

I have a feeling that developer has absolutely nothing to do with Samsung other than deciding to get a free ride by including the name in his own.
No, I think it's legit... I don't get it either. Galaxy S Support also RTed it.

Yeah I just don't see how Samsung could be affiliated with this horrid launcher.
Either someone threw the Samsung name in their author title, or Samsung needs better quality control in their Android development department.
EDIT: I saw the twitter post from Samsungjohn and I have to say I'm disappointed. :/

Yes but has anyone tried the paid version? I tried the free version and it does seem like crap but just wondering if the paid version unlocks the cool part of it.

The only thing that would make this awesome is if it came with a statement saying samsung is no longer placing custom skins on their android phones.

[Q] ROMs that don't disable IR Blaster?

I'm just curious if there are any ROMs that a person could flash to their S4 SGH-i337 without losing access to the IR Blaster? I am currently running CM 10.1 and I love it, but I would really like to still be able to use apps like WatchON or Smart Remote without having to go back to the bloated and bogged down stock AT&T firmware.
Looking around I haven't really been able to find much about it. From what I understand is that it either won't ever happen or it might happen on 4.3 when they devs have more time to crack it... I haven't seen anything about any working with a custom ROM currently.
So, I was just wondering if anyone knows of any ROMs that still have access to the IR Blaster?
Any with touchwiz should be fine as long as you download samsung crappack. Correct me if i am wrong. But AFAIK its just aosp/aokp/cm that doesnt suplort due to the nature of requiring touchwiz framework.
Your right aosp tons will not get the functions of the extra sensors like the IR

Unless Samsung for some reason loves us and gives us the drivers. But that is never going to happen.

Also, most of the touchwiz roms have removed the bloatware, att seems to be the only one that bogged down my phone really bad as I have the samsung crappack on it and it runs great. I am running MDOB with no issues. Night and day difference without the ATT bloat.
Hope I'm not breaking any rules I'm on mint v1 and all the Samsung stuff is thier without att stuff, and it's highly customizable. I'm sure thier are others but thats what I've used

Yeah I don't either as the GE version has the disabled. As the drivers are propriety and closed sourced I don't see much of a chance outside of the next nexus having got the sensors

So what doesn't make sense is why Samsung wouldn't just make the Samsung galaxy s4s lol without the sensors and stuff :/ but whatever floats their boat.

YOu have to understand Samsungs end game which is Tizen. Their closed sourced OS. The give you the S4 and then the GE edition. They get you hooked on the gimmics they give you which means you will be more inclined to buy their Tizen devices. Also it is cheaper just to disable the sensors they remake the whole phone which is what would be needed.

[Q] will N4 ever see a ported WiFi-Calling app?

So, will the nexus ever see a ported version of WiFi calling for T-Mobile?

I really don't think so. With 4.3 coming out soon, I really really don't think so.(Please prove me wrong tmo!)

That's the next update that's in the wings for our phones. This has some new code for Bluetooth and maybe other things I am not familiar with. But with this update alone, I highly doubt tmo will "add" wifi-calling to the N4 or even ever. If they intended it, they would have installed it on the Tmo version/sold by of the N4.
Right, but is it that integrated of an app that someone cannot port it into a custom rom, from a t-mobile phone on jellybean that has wifi-calling?

I don't know the semantics but the gist is not just an apk. I think it intertwines with framework and that's a lot of shifting through code to bring one app to light. I mean there's a thread created with a reward of like over $1,400 to "port" it. lol

That reward thread pretty much speaks for itself then.. lol...
Yeah I believe for ICS it still was an app, and easier to work with. But I did notice that in Jellybean it's no longer in app form, and it seems to be tied into the updated sim cards they are running and I guess, more "baked" into the framework itself.
You would think they would come out with a stand-alone app for ppl without actual T-mobile branded phones..
