[Q]Anyone having issues with MMS? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I just noticed that when I try to send an MMS, it says it compresses the message but even after compressing it still says the size was something like 964KB for one specific test image - far beyond the 600KB AT&T officially supports. And then when I try to send I get a spinning circle for a while and eventually an alert that the message has failed.
I checked with my friend who also ordered the S4 and he said he also has the spinning circle.
So, anyone else noticed this and got a fix yet?

No I've sent two pictures so far today. Both to iPhones. One, my sisters, also AT&T, and another on Virgin mobile. Both pictures sent fast and in good quality.

Check mms settings and see if there's a send size limit setting
Sent from my GT-N5110 using xda app-developers app

I used the faster APN "ATT Test 5" and it messed up my MMS messaging. I changed it back to "proxy.mobile.att.net" instead of the IP in the thread and it was fixed.
But if you didn't use any different APN then I don't know whats making your phone behave like that.

what are the settings for the ATT Test 5? I have been having issues trying to get my MMS to send for over a week now. Tried several APN settings and nothing has worked so far.

MMS not being received by another

I sent a picture message many times to my friend and she never received it. I tried it on hanscent, chompsms, and the original messaging app and she hasnt received it. I'm on tmobile by the way. Is there a problem going on right now with the mms department?
I'm having an issue receiving MMS on my N1 on Vodafone in Ireland. I won't receive them at all even thought I have entered all the correct settings!!
Cheers,
M

Is the phone rooted? Do you have a custom rom installed, if so flash the rom again.

yes it is rooted to cyanogens 5.0.4.1 i flashed it about 3 times.
i had to change certain settings to be able to send mms to iphones....
I've had issues sending mms on my unrooted n1.
I think it has something to do with the photo size (despite being compressed for mms) if i send a regular picture (always on highest resolution) the report stays on pending until failure. however if i use something like ezimba and reduce the file by say 30% it's received almost immediately...
not sure if this is the cause or not, but that's the work around i've found to get it to work...

what settings? i'm having trouble sending pictures to iphones (3gs) too.
Picture size must be under 300k (this includes the text message).
There is a setting under handcent that lets you specify the maximum size. By default it is 500k.
Change that setting and it may work better for you.

Strange MMS issue

Hello all,
I have a really strange problem with MMS on my t-mobile HTC HD2. I can send an MMS to myself without any issues (successfully sends and receives). Picture pops up perfectly. No issues. Good!
So I try to send an MMS to another phone (an iphone which can also send/ receive MMS without problems) and I get a couple delivery reports, the first says that the message has been delivered and the second says the message has been rejected (MMS is not received by the other phone). Both phones can send MMS to themselves without issues so I know MMS is working. And the iphone can send MMS to the HTC HD2 without problems. But the problem happens when the HTC HD2 tries to send an MMS to another phone (I've also tried to send a couple MMS' overseas but got the same rejected delivery report). What's the deal?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
I see you are focused soley on MMS. This may be simply a matter of sizes.
Your HD2 may be sending MMS with attachments larger than the iPhone is prepared to accept, either due to network or software limitations.
I have an old hack that let's me send up to 600k through T-Mobile, but anything over 200k is rejected by my sister's phone over on Sprint.
Again, not sure if this is software or network, but it could be the problem. Give it a shot with a smaller file size and let us know how it went.

Yea, that was the first thing I suspected so I decided to deal with image sizes less than 200K to be on the safe side (specifically 90K and 157K). Sadly, it still did not work.
Thank you sir.

Glad you checked that, good thinking
Okay, I saw something on here the other day about the HD2 sending or receiving thumbnail'd images. Check that out and see if there's some sort of fix offered. It's possible your MMS settings are just a wee bit off.
Oh, is the iPhone and HD2 on the same network?

Yea, the iPhone and HD2 are both on T-Mobile.
As far as the MMS settings, I am using the same settings on both phones. I sent an MMS to a friend of mine who also has an HD2 on T-Mobile and it was sent/received successfully. It seems like its having problems with phones other than HD2's (MMS rejected when sent to a Nokia N97, N95 and my iPhone). Its my understanding that if you have the ability to receive MMS you should be able to send MMS since the same settings are used.

OK, this is the last thing I can think of, sorry :\
Are you perhaps using a format that the iPhone doesn't accept, like PNG or BMP or something?
I know that the HD2 camera supports multiple outputs, but I know next to nothing about the iPhone...

Perhaps the iPhone isn't the best platform to test if MMS is working (without jailbreaking). I tried it with another phone and it worked fine. Read about carrier bundles in Cydia, tried that and it worked. I seriously do not know how that worked since all that does is put the MMS settings automatically for you which were exactly what I already had. But it now works. Weird.
Thanks for your help.

I hate solutions like this
Others will come along with the same issue and then read the solution and say, "Damn, that didn't help!"
Oh, well, at least you fixed yours. Good going!

[Q] No Mms from Iphones only

OK guys I have the n4 on T-Mobile and I can not receive MMS from iphones only. I can get SMS from iPhone. I can get MMS from any other phone. I've tried iPhones from 3 carriers and I can't receive MMS from any of them. I have changed my APN settings several times to match others configurations but nothing has worked. I have created a new apn etc...I have tried go SMS,hand cent, and chomp.I know I cannot be alone on this matter ,I just don't think many people have realized it yet. Any help is much appreciated.

I have AT&T and my partner has an iPhone 4S and I can get MMS from her. So it is possible, to get it to work. Are you using Google Voice? if so this maybe the issue. In Google Voice set it so text messages are received via the messaging app. Or disable Google Voice entirely and see if that fixes it.
What plan on you on with tmobile? Pre-paid or monthly? And what APN settings have you tried? Check this out:
http://johnlieske.com/2012/11/21/some-t-mobile-nexus-4-tweaks/
I uninstalled Google voice completely and still a no go. I'm on the prepaid unlimited plan with 5gb of data (70$)..I've tried those settings you referred me to but for some reason little baby phone doesn't play nicely with the n4.
I am also on T-Mobile and I cannot receive MMS from iPhone users. Any other phone works just fine.

I'm pretty sure I had the same issue, and I'm also on T mobile, what I had to do was turn auto retrieve MMS off, in the stock messaging apps settings, as well as make sure APN was set to those shown in attached picture
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium HD app
Success, That did it for me...I think unchecking the auto retrieve maybe what's behind it . I've tried the other settings before without unchecking the auto retrieve and it didn't work . But nevertheless thanks a lot

Problems sending MMS on stock 4.3

Hey guys
so I took the OTA update to 4.3 Im on MK2 and ever since I updated I have had issues when I try to send people mms.. it could be a simple message with an emoji from the iPhone keyboard or an image..
The messages sent perfectly fine before the update. I noticed in my APN settings I only have an ATT Phone APN.. not a APN for messaging or images or whatever, is there anyone on ATT network either pre or post update that has an additional APN in there settings? Could someone post the settings for theirs if they do?
And if I'm not missing an APN then I have no idea what the deal is, does anyone else have this problem? I've searched the forums but nothing I've seen I applied to my situation and the ones that were close I tried but to no avail.
Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance,

It should be set up right. What SMS app are you using? Your APN should look like

Yes that's my APN settings... okay well the mms have been sending more successfully recently, however sometimes they just sit there and try to send forever, they won't send or say that they failed sending either.. I am using the stock messaging app.

Yes of course my network data is on. The thing is that even on WiFi the pictures require data to send so typically you send a picture on WiFi you continue to use WiFi but the data emblem will also show up while your message is sent, and even when the pictures just sit there and don't send, the data 4g lte symbol still shows and the message still tries to send..
I dont know what the issue is, but I am going to call AT&T tomorrow because it has been too long for this to be a problem on their network end.

Cannot receive MMS (Cyanogen) Not APN problem..

I have been having this problem for 6 months, finally its annoyed me to the point of asking for more help. If i take my SIM out of my phone and put it in my wifes, i can get picture messages no problem. if the SIM is in my s4 then i cannot. i will get an error message half our later saying message could not be downloaded.
I have verified my APN information, it matches exactly with what telus says it should be, and with what it on my wifes phone. Ive also talked to telus who couldnt do anything more to help me. everything is good on their end, and like i said it works when my sim is in my wifes phone, and we have the same APN settings.
I would love to be able to get pictures in texts, everyone sends them to me and i can never view them.
another issue is that i canont send picture messages unless i turn off wi-fi. if i dont it wont send and will eventually come back saying ti could not send. if wifi is off, sends no problem. i dont so much care about this one, but if anyone knows...
Thanks in advance!
anyone?

Make sure mobile data is enabled and/or you have your messaging app set to automatically download/enable data for downloads or whatever. MMS can only be sent over mobile data and sometimes it needs to be enabled manually to send and recieve.
Hehe GUI setting is not going to solve your problem, can you attach your /system/csc/customer.xml file please, I know exactly what's your problem m8

App Tweakker Play Store luck...:good:
Two different things have made this happen for me.
1. Adblock plus app
-made mms not with at all
2. Turning on the text with Google hangouts when you initially setup your phone.
-when turned on, messed up all my mms
Check these, how this helps
