Hopefully get my ONE next week. - One (M7) General

Am hoping to get my ONE next week. I've currently got a HTC Desire HD and want to know how I go about transfering all my apps onto the new phone also I use tapatalk for the forums, will I need to remember all the login/passwords for my forums or can I transfer tapatalk forums settings aswell ?

You will need to remember everything.

Download carbon. Backup apps to cloud.
Install carbon on One, restore apps from cloud.
Simples.

If you have a gmail account simply login on your new phone and all of your apps will be in the play store. as will all of your contacts be in gmail.

or just use the free version of titanium backup so even data from your previous phone would be restored also(including login credentials on tapatalk).

That doesn't help with app data... using carbon or titanium backup is the way to go.

Phone to phone migration

Just wondering what is the fastest or easiest method to completely copy over everything from one vibrant to another as I just got my replacement today. I would love to copy all my apps and settings. Also will I lose all the apps I purchased? Thanks!!

No ideas? I guess I'll just start doing it the old fashion way lol
Your contacts, calendar should be synced to gmail already. Try using mybackup pro or titanium backup for things like app data but I believe you still have to download the apps to your phone again. Purchased apps are saved to your purchase history via gmail

If your are rooted use Titanium Back up. MyBackup Pro is good for things like text.

Contacts to sd card or titanium backup

Can someone ttell me how to save all my contacts to my sd card so for whenever I switch roms? Or can I also do this on titanium backup?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Is there something wrong with using your google mail account for your contacts? That's how I did it when I tried out different ROMs. So you don't have to have the issue with saving it and restoring it. All you'd have to do is sync your phone with your google mail account.

+1 what's wrong with Google contacts??
Sent from my cm7src B#38 g2 using XDA App
Everytime I save them and sync and get a new rom I no longer have those contacts but I just backed up everything with titanium

Make sure your contacts are being created under your mail account and not on phone storage.

+5 on wtf is wrong with google?
however... as a criminal throttler (according to tmobile) if I want to flash a rom after a wipe and I am not near wifi my only alternative is to manually restore ****. Why? Because resyncing a **** load of data back to my phone while throttled makes me want to eat my phone in front of a tmobile rep. infuritating! (Its like driving a WWII era moped on the expressway)
but thats one reason why i sometimes need to avoid the gumminess of google. because it pisses off tmobile.
Another reason some people may not use Google for all of their syncing is if they use Google for personal contacts, but still have business/miscellaneous contacts (and their business does not use something like Google or MS Exchange that they can set up a sync for).
Granted, they could set up another Google account for the business ones, but maybe it's not allowed due to corporate IT policy or something. Everyone's usage model is different...

[Q] How do I restore my contacts and apps?

Hey, guys. I just installed the DK28 Froyo Stock ROM. I was using Lookout Mobile Security to backup all of my contacts and pictures.
However, all of my contacts aren't syncing from Lookout. Is there an easier way to get back all of my contacts from Lookout?
Also, my account only shows the apps from the Marketplace that I had purchased, but not downloaded. Is there anyway to download everything I had before? Thanks.
Don't know about Lookout; I always sync contacts through gmail.
Don't know about pictures; all of mine are on my SDCard.
Your free apps do not show up in the marketplace...until now. Now that you're running 2.2.1, anything you DL will re-dl every time you replace ROMs or wipe your phone. (this may be due to updated marketplace and not 2.2, but I'm not sure)
Lookout is garbage. I use appbrain to save my app and google to save my contacts. Have you tried logging into your google on your phone to recover your contacts?

It's due to both.
It's Lookout Mobile Security. It's a great piece of software. However, I think it's stuck on restoring my photos.

No, Google didn't sync all of my contacts. Just some. Is there a detailed way to show how to sync my phone contacts with Google? It wants to sync like every e-mail address I've ever e-mailed with my phone.

Delete google account

I've searched and searched and nothing has worked. I can't wipe.
I don't know how u mean, but if you'd like to unbind your phone from your account you have to go to Settings->Acc & sync->[Choose your account]->Remove. The other thing is to completely delete your account, to do this go to https://www.google.com/accounts/ManageAccount, click Edit and select Close account and delete all services and info associated with it, comfirm it and you deleted your account

i looked in my google voice account and theres no such options as to the first method that you suggested....
Could you be a little more specific on what you are trying to do? Do you not want to have any google account on your phone? Are you wanting to switch to a different google account? Are you trying to delete your gmail account completely?
i know what you are trying to do. You are trying to remove the google account you associated your phone with right? Well, unfortunately you cannot do that. You would need to reflash the ROM to be able to do so.
Refpashing is a bit brutal. A hard reset should be enough.

Or you goto manage applications and reset defaults for all google apps...

You could also grab Android ID changer and change your ID (Google account associated with your current ROM). Then, you could switch back and forth. *shrugs*...
Factory Reset is the safest way. Changing ID can invalidate all your apps and bugger it up, plus you can't use ID changer if your phone is NANDLOCKED.
I spent a lot of research on this, there is just too much data that needs to be changed to simply switch your primary Google authentication account. Make your backups then Factory Reset, just as the Sync settings suggests.

But its faster just to reset the accounts and not have to redownload all the apps, resync facebook and whatever else is going on...
Uhuh... and how exactly does one get around the message saying you cannot delete the default Google account? Once you sign in to Google on firstboot for market, the phone is locked to that Market account.
As for redownloading all your apps, I take it you've never used Titanium Backup or MyBackup Pro. Note that if you buy something on Market, you cannot transfer that purchase to another Gmail account.

You're not deleting the account..you're just clearing data and defaults for the app..I've used TB and did forget to note that in my post..so thanks..as for MyBackup Pro I haven't..if you're rooted can't you still move purchased apks to the sdcard?

You mean going to "Accounts and Sync" in TB > Wipe Data? I did that, but it resulted in FC's whenever trying to go back to add a new account. The Google Account ID assigned to the phone is a lot more tied-in than simple appdata, I even did a full find/replace on com.android.* databases and the best I got was annoying "Authentication failed" errors on startup, and Market, Gtalk, etc. All had FC's.
The .android_secure folder on SD cannot be hotswapped between phones, they need to be re-registered in the package registry... which TB handles mostly perfectly. Some paid apps do fail authentication checks after a TB restore though due to custom fingerprinting it seems, and have to be "revalidated" via Market install. One example that comes to mind is Flow (Facebook client) and Executive Assistant+.

How old is that? I don't have "Gmail" nor "Google Apps" installed. The manual database method mentioned is what I did, resulting in corruption (the account was still there but I got 'Authentication Failed' from Market on startup). Risky. But good luck....

sold nexus 4, how to unregister/ dissociate phone with my google account so info can'

i deleted my account info and did factory reset on the nexus 4 phone itself. however, on my google account, it still shows that i have a nexus 4. is there any way to dissociate it with my google account just in case the new owner of the phone wants to try some social engineering to get my account? since buyer does have the phone, it's possible since my google accounts such as checkout and google play showed that the nexus 4 is mine and i've made purchases with it and i can't unregister it. i just want to be safe.
I believe you can call Google and have the imei and warranty moved under the buyer's name in their system. Would that be enough?
Try manage devices in account at play store ? I renamed my devices recently not sure about removing them

Yeah, I think you are going to have to resort to calling them. According to the following page, it is not possible to delete it from your account, but you can hide it (which would be convenient, but doesn't address the issue you are concerned about).

It takes a looooong time for a phone to vanish from your Google Play account, but as long as you've wiped it they're no longer linked.

Factory reset from the Settings, that wipes everything (internal storage).

if you want to delete everything you have to reflash stock google build using fastboot, this will delete all user files and install the factory recovery(that's if you changed it).
Why are you worried about the phone showing up in your play store account? if the phone isnt set up using your gmail account it will not have access to any of your info and you will not be able to control anything on the phone from the play store website.
