I don't know how u mean, but if you'd like to unbind your phone from your account you have to go to Settings->Acc & sync->[Choose your account]->Remove. The other thing is to completely delete your account, to do this go to https://www.google.com/accounts/ManageAccount, click Edit and select Close account and delete all services and info associated with it, comfirm it and you deleted your account

i looked in my google voice account and theres no such options as to the first method that you suggested....
Could you be a little more specific on what you are trying to do? Do you not want to have any google account on your phone? Are you wanting to switch to a different google account? Are you trying to delete your gmail account completely?
i know what you are trying to do. You are trying to remove the google account you associated your phone with right? Well, unfortunately you cannot do that. You would need to reflash the ROM to be able to do so.
Refpashing is a bit brutal. A hard reset should be enough.

You could also grab Android ID changer and change your ID (Google account associated with your current ROM). Then, you could switch back and forth. *shrugs*...
Factory Reset is the safest way. Changing ID can invalidate all your apps and bugger it up, plus you can't use ID changer if your phone is NANDLOCKED.
I spent a lot of research on this, there is just too much data that needs to be changed to simply switch your primary Google authentication account. Make your backups then Factory Reset, just as the Sync settings suggests.

But its faster just to reset the accounts and not have to redownload all the apps, resync facebook and whatever else is going on...
Uhuh... and how exactly does one get around the message saying you cannot delete the default Google account? Once you sign in to Google on firstboot for market, the phone is locked to that Market account.
As for redownloading all your apps, I take it you've never used Titanium Backup or MyBackup Pro. Note that if you buy something on Market, you cannot transfer that purchase to another Gmail account.

You're not deleting the account..you're just clearing data and defaults for the app..I've used TB and did forget to note that in my post..so thanks..as for MyBackup Pro I haven't..if you're rooted can't you still move purchased apks to the sdcard?

You mean going to "Accounts and Sync" in TB > Wipe Data? I did that, but it resulted in FC's whenever trying to go back to add a new account. The Google Account ID assigned to the phone is a lot more tied-in than simple appdata, I even did a full find/replace on com.android.* databases and the best I got was annoying "Authentication failed" errors on startup, and Market, Gtalk, etc. All had FC's.
The .android_secure folder on SD cannot be hotswapped between phones, they need to be re-registered in the package registry... which TB handles mostly perfectly. Some paid apps do fail authentication checks after a TB restore though due to custom fingerprinting it seems, and have to be "revalidated" via Market install. One example that comes to mind is Flow (Facebook client) and Executive Assistant+.

How old is that? I don't have "Gmail" nor "Google Apps" installed. The manual database method mentioned is what I did, resulting in corruption (the account was still there but I got 'Authentication Failed' from Market on startup). Risky. But good luck....

I spent the last couple of days setting up my new phone exactly as I want it, installed lag fix, rooted it, installed all of the apps I needed and am good to go.
Thing is, I used a Gmail account that I don't want to use any more, as I also have a Google Apps account, which has all of my contacts. The Gmail one is just confusing everything.
I have tried removing the Gmail account with the whole 'manage accounts' routine but it doesn't seem to work with Froyo.
The next thing is a factory reset which I am very reluctant to do. I dont want to lose all the rooting, performance fix settings, nor do I want to sit here installing and configuring everything from the beginning.
Would using Titanium backup help if I did a factory restore, or will it just restore the Google account that I want removed?

Pretty sure this could be found quicker if you'd have just done a quick search here or on Google.
Anyway, menu-settings-applications-manage applications-all-gmail-clear data. If that doesn't work try google services framework from that same menu.
Hey, guys. I just installed the DK28 Froyo Stock ROM. I was using Lookout Mobile Security to backup all of my contacts and pictures.
However, all of my contacts aren't syncing from Lookout. Is there an easier way to get back all of my contacts from Lookout?
Also, my account only shows the apps from the Marketplace that I had purchased, but not downloaded. Is there anyway to download everything I had before? Thanks.
Don't know about Lookout; I always sync contacts through gmail.
Don't know about pictures; all of mine are on my SDCard.
Your free apps do not show up in the marketplace...until now. Now that you're running 2.2.1, anything you DL will re-dl every time you replace ROMs or wipe your phone. (this may be due to updated marketplace and not 2.2, but I'm not sure)
Lookout is garbage. I use appbrain to save my app and google to save my contacts. Have you tried logging into your google on your phone to recover your contacts?

It's due to both.
It's Lookout Mobile Security. It's a great piece of software. However, I think it's stuck on restoring my photos.

No, Google didn't sync all of my contacts. Just some. Is there a detailed way to show how to sync my phone contacts with Google? It wants to sync like every e-mail address I've ever e-mailed with my phone.
I bought a samsung vibrant and it is unlocked and rooted running bionx v. I'm tryin to delete the old google account so I can sign into the android market. Is there anyway to do this without having to restore the phone. I did manage to get my gmail on there and syncing . I can sign in my google maps .

Go to security and reset the phone
remove your google account and then go to settings -> applications -> manage apps -> all apps -> market -> clear data + force close
exit and go to your market app and it will ask you for your google acct.
Nope still hade the persons acc. Show up when I opend my market app I can't get his acc off the phone ..

You cannot remove the primary (the first added Google account) without factory resetting the phone. It's like that with every Android phone.
If you just need the apps, install titanium backup from the market and backup your apps, factory reset then reload your app...
That's the only way to remove an account...
Can't get to the market its signed in the other owners with no pass word.

hold the power button until the power menu comes up, then hit recovery. phone should shutdown and boot into recovery and then push on volume keys down to wipe data/factory reset and push power button to select. once done reboot

I know! Pisses me off no end. I end up buying a lot of phones for friends and relatives who want me to set it up and send it to them and I have to get the gmail addresses and passwords to set it up. I don't know why Google does this. My sister bought an Android and before she could use it, my 10 year old niece had entered her Gmail address and by the time my sister realized it, she didn't want to mess with it not wanting to reinstall all the apps.
This is total bull****.

For those who bought used Android phones that already had someone's Google account on it: I have been searching for months on how to delete original Google account... but nothing worked... until now. I got piece and piece of information, put them together and it worked! So, try it yourself! Remember to back up your data before doing this 2 steps. I actually copied Android folders from the original 16 GB SD card in the phone to a SD 2GB and played with it, to be safe. When it worked, I did the steps on the 16 GB and it worked, too.
Step 1. Root your phone. Use program like Root Explorer, go to root, open Data folder, then System folder. Delete the file "Accounts.db".
Step 2. Go to Settings --> SD & Phone Storage --> Factory Data Reset. Confirm delete all data. The phone will shutdown automatically. When you power it back on, all Google accounts will be gone. Therefore, BACK UP your email accounts before doing these steps.
Note: I am not 100% sure if step 2 is necessary, but I did both steps and it worked, so I never tried step 1 alone. You can try just step 1 and reboot the phone to see if it worked. If not, perform step 2. I think Google accounts reside in the phone's root and on the SD card both, so after I deleted Google accounts on the 2 GB, I put the 16 GB card in and the original Google accounts came back. Then I did these 2 steps again and it worked.
After the original Google account deleted, you can set up your own Google account and it will be link to the phone. Then you will be able to access the Market. Good Luck!

Delete accounts.db and restart your phone. Simple as that. If you're geeky enough, edit accounts.db.

I've rooted my Fire and installed the Android Market without a problem. When I
first opened the market I logged in with my Google account to make sure everything
worked. Since I got this device for my dad, I'd rather he log in with his own Google
account. I've cleared the app data, and even deleted and re-installed. I can't get
the option to log in with a different google account and it stays with mine. Is there
a solution to this? Has anyone else experienced this?
Without access to the Account and Sync menu, I believe you'll need to uninstall and do a fresh reinstall of the market
I've uninstalled the market and re-installed with the apk. Or is there a more precise uninstall I should be doing?
In the Android development subforum here the long how to install market thread has reference to getting gmail to sync and those posts reference another thread with a link to a Sync Settings app. That will allow you to add another gmail account or delete one in addition to setting up sync items and auto sync. If I knew the post I'd gladly supply it but all I remember is where I found reference to the app.
Then just add your dad's email then subtract yours. Then to market and your set.

I just hit "menu" and added an account from the Market. Or maybe GMail. It was pretty simple, really.
The menu from the market app wash giving me the option. Not until I added another gmail account through the sync settings it did.
Hi I have a similar question but just about the amazon app store. I have been using a separate email account to buy apps than the one to buy all my kindles and books. Is there any work around to have both amazon.com accounts logged in or to keep the apps and books installed while I am on my other account or the other?
I have rooted the tablet and have my google market running fine so I might just have to stick to that.

Can't you install Anycut from the android market, open it, create new activity, select accounts and sync or whatever the activity is called, and then go from there?
Additionally can you open the Gmail app, menu, accounts, add account...from here, go to the android market and then you should have 2 different gmail accounts to choose between?

Thanks for that. I tried it and it crashes the system. I actually have two account from google on my market, but my main problem is accessing the apps that are registered to my gmail account. Mainly because my kindle account is a separate email and every time you deregister the Kindle it deletes your books or installs the apps.

Yeah I am it's ok. One of thoes things that happens with rooting. I'll just wait and see when a rom comes out or might just try rerooting for the heck of it.

Anyone figure out how to remove the main gmail account without having to do a factory reset? I made the mistake of putting in an email address I didn't want to have added. I've already tried adding a second GMail account and removing the primary and got the prompt to factory reset.

Yeah I was able to remove gmail accounts using anycut. I am just stuck with the amazon drm sadly
I flash roms not so often as crack flashers. But when I do, or even if I just have to do a factory reset (say, if I want to change the main google account, mainly to prioritize which gets to use the built-in google Talk), I come across Market link issues with TB Pro.
The account I want the apps linked with is NOT the primary google account. It used to be before but I made a new email and such. So I checked the proper settings in TB, such as always associate apps to selected active profiles, etc. But when I restore it is mixed between the two accounts. Some apps will be linked to one account or even both.
I've tried many things. I used market doctor to no avail. I killed market links, wiped data from Market in both Settings and in TB. I've tried rebooting several times. Now I am just going to uninstall/reinstall to see if it will associate to the selected market account.
Sometimes all the apps will link to the right account. But then later on it will be mixed again, or just show some apps as uninstalled or missing. But when I search for them in Market it shows it as installed.
I hope someone has a definite solution for this. I have searched XDA and checked the TB wiki. Thanks in advance.
Did selecting the account to use in TB preferences> account for android market not work? That is the reason it's there, I'm assuming.

Yeah i checked it to the right account. But sometimes it reverts back to bring mixed.
Right now it's fine. I had to uninstall everything, check the TB settings, and reinstall. I also made sure the account was selected in the Market app.
But after making a backup in recovery, some apps weren't linked. But market doctor fixed it.
Still, i wonder what makes the apps become linked to different accounts afterwards.. Or lose its links.
