LiveView - Other SmartWatches

Hi all. I am planning to buy the Sony Ericsson LiveView as it is very cheap. I will not mainly use it with my phone. I will use it as a watch and calendar so is the clock and calendar good (with the latest update and without connecting it to the phone)? I will usw it sometimes with the phone for twitter, WhatsApp and calls. I have a Sony Xperia U so will it be good as mine is not an Ericsson? I will also play music. Please guide me mates as this is my first smartwatch.... Thanks in advance

Yeah is there a gps abd sports tracker in the watch? Just asking.
Sent from my ST25i using Tapatalk 2

Hey I've got LiveView so I can tell you some about it. Price is very low but quality is very low too. Twiter, Facebook is not working (you can't log in). Music control works good. Call/SMS notifications works nice. I haven't any connections problem with Xperia x8. There are some sports trackers for example: SportyPal PRO or Microtracks (app for Google's My Tracks).
(with the latest update and without connecting it to the phone)

Hymm It can't even display time without connecting ;p. If you connect and disconnect it works only as a clock and showing right time (no any other functions) but if you just turn on it without connecting it shows only 0:00.

Ok thanks. But can it show a map? Small one? And did it slip of the wrist strap while as a watch? Can i view a calendar mate? Lastly, are there WhatsApp notifications??
Sent from my ST25i using Tapatalk 2

I'm using microtracks and it shows distance, speed, time etc. I don't think there is usable plugin which shows map. Calendar: there is a calendar plugin but it in not working for me. WhatsApp: I have never used it but there is something about this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/...icsson.extras.liveview.plugins.customnotifier here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24009063&postcount=17

Not much but this strap isn't the best but you can use any watch's strap which width is 20 mm.

Thanks, I'm satisfied...

Is there any way to use it as a mouse
I need to control my computer through bluetooth, so I wonder if there is any way to use this watch as a bluetooth mouse. If not, please advice me about it. Thanks in advance.

Can you turn the watch's bluetooth off, and continue using it as a watch?
Not being able to do so is a dealbreaker for me, it's far cheaper than the pebble

Sort of. When you connect to your phone with the LiveView, and then disconnect, the time will still be displayed on the LiveView. However, once you restart the LiveView, the time will disappear until the next time you reconnect with your phone

No setting to turn BT off? Seems like it'd drain the battery quite a bit if it has it on all the time.

Could use some advice.
This thing has a TINY battery and doesn't use that much power.
As a watch mode it's in the light all the time.
ebay has:

for dirt cheap that puts out decent charge ... anyone have any ideas how to fashion one of these into a watchstrap?
Perhaps solder on a male micro usb that will couple to liveview on that side and then a regular watch pin on the other side.
Wouldn't this generate enough energy to never have to plug in and allow unlimited use?
50ma * 8hours a day??? for a 100mah battery?
Am I missing something here?
The only issue I see is the voltage... usb needs 5V +/- .25ish?
Would one use a voltage regulator?
Any input greatly appreciated. I'm more software than EE.
Thanks,
Frank

None of those will work. 5V or nothing.
I have tried a few of those on other USB powered devices and they never work. You would need two of them hooked up in series and that will give you 6V low amperage. Once you hook it to the device the voltage will essentially drop to 5.5V which is a outside the safe margin but a small chance of working.
Good luck.

1 - battery drain in standby shouldn't be significant but you can reduce it by turning off radios you don't need and/or reducing the update interval of any apps you have checking in the background.
2 - I'm not sure what's happening here, usually the wifi logo overwrites the 3g one so it is obvious which one is in use (at least it does on my UK SGT, might be different for CDMA). Either way switching on and off the various radios is easily done from the notification area, just swipe down from the top of the screen to show toggles for wifi, bt, gps, silent mode & orientation lock.
Edit: oops, I miss remembered, I don't know of an easy way to switch the mobile radio.
3 - I had a bit of a play with allshare day one but haven't had time to give it a proper workout yet.
4 - I haven't had mine run down that far but it sounds like a sensible power saving measure, better to see it dim for a while than bright for two minutes!
5 - the screen auto adjust in the display settings seems to help a lot. Other than that I've found the battery life to be very good for the most part. I tend to only switch on wifi if I have a big download to do so that might help in my case.
Welcome by the way, hope you enjoy the tab!

THANKS Bill! Appreciate the info/advice!
I guess I am getting confused between the 3g/ the strength bars. So if it doesnt say 3g but just shows signal strength then its probably using wifi?
Does anyone know if the SGT defaults to wifi first then to 3g? Just curious.

When wifi is on it turns 3g off. I use an app called tasker to save my battery. I have it set to turn wifi/3g off when the screen turns off, and if I place it face down it sets the device into airplane mode, left in this state the battery drains very slow when not in use. Tasker is not the cheapest app but you are only limited by your imagination what you can do with it.

Anyone else know how to use allshare? According to samsung you cannot stream from your pc to the tablet is this correct?
i am actually trying to do both stream from the pc to the tab and then seperately stream from the tab to the tv or blu ray player and or pc and nothing works any which way? not sure how to get this to work?
thanks
AllShare is an app that you can use to connect to other Samsung AllShare enabled divices like TV's. I removed the app. It is completely useless. (It would be so nice if there was an app by which I could connect to my homenetwork.)

Not quite correct! It allows you to stream from/to other DLNA devices which includes some Samsung TV's, but plenty of other devices too.
For example, I use to it to stream from/to my PCs with Media Center.

Not original cable.
I want TV out to work when screen is off.
How to do?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
As far as I'm aware, the TV out comes from the screen feed and the audio feed. Therefore, if you do not have any feed to screen there is no feed to TV from the jack socket.
@borchgrevink,
The cable to use is a Nokia TV out cable, can be got in the UK from the bay for less than £2.00
Like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190466684348#ht_2626wt_1139
Mvideoplayer app developer responded my email when I asked him if this would be possible:
"...Made a test build with that feature which I tested on my Nexus One with 2.2. It didn't work, when I sat the brightness to 0 the playback stopped and the phone went to sleep (I didn't know that), I guess this is how it works and that means it's not possible. There is no other way in the API to just turn of the screen. It's not allowed. "
Bummer...
I've tried the Screen Filter widget, but it shades the TV screen a well, so, the only way to spend LESS battery is to set the brightness to minimum before switching to your player of choice (in Mvideoplayer you can easily set it via a slider in the GUI).

Sleep on power removed

I'm planning on installing my Flo Nexus in my car to replace the outdated stock navigation system. I was quite interested in Timur's USB ROM but it doesn't support Flo and doesn't look like he'll be adding it after cancelling the indiegogo campaign he started to fund it.
I've spent some time searching and looking at the different kernels and roms available, and for now am running ElementalX 1.7beta with an older CM nightly.
I think this meets most of my needs, but I have one little nitpick - is there anything out there that separates the "Wake on plug" action into two separate functions? I'd like the screen to wake up when power is applied, but not when power is removed as this is going to leave the screen on when I get out of the vehicle. Ideally when power is removed I'd like it to go to deep sleep immediately.
Thanks.
I've never used the app Tasker. But isn't that what people use when trying to accomplish that?

I've used tasker for different things, but have found it unreliable when it came to power events, at least in the past. I'll definitely give it a shot and see how it works for this scenario. Thanks for reminding me.
Any other suggestions out there in case Tasker doesn't do the trick, or other votes for Tasker?
I got an app called "Caffine" which keeps the screen on while plugged in/charging, and when I turn the car off I set the backlight to 15 seconds, that way it sleeps after 15 seconds. Works great.
If you don't mind me asking, how are you installing the tablet into your car?

It's part of a complete stereo install I'm doing, and it's not cheap although it's not rip-off expensive either. I chose them because they are capable of doing good fabrication work and are going to need to put something together to hold the tablet securely in place behind the stock bezel.
Just wanted to update for people to know what I did. Tasker was the way to go to get exactly what I want, but I needed to add the Secure Settings plugin as well. With that plugin I was able to immediately turn on the screen when power is applied, as well as shut off the screen immediately when power is removed.
I've also attached other bits to these profiles, such as adjusting the CPU clock and disabling wifi/bluetooth when the screen is off. At this point I'm losing less than 10% battery for 24 hours of sleep, which is pretty good although I'd like to see if I can find any improvements. We'll see!

Lemfo Y3 issues

Notifications sometimes don't work, especially for calls. It stays connected fine with Nougat, though I can't figure out how to track sleep. The specs state that it can.
Until today. I added the watch as one of my "trusted devices" so the phone stays unlocked when they're in range of each other, and it disconnected. Now when I try to reconnect in WiiWear, it crashes and disconnects again. I've forgotten the watch, removed it from "trusted devices," wiped cache, reinstalled WiiWear, etc, and it still crashes. Sorry to hear about your issues. I'm considering buying one myself. Do you think this is mostly a problem with the watch (i.e. hardware) or something with the connection between the phone app and the watch software?
Also, if you don't mind taking a minute to tell me, what did you think of the build quality and general usability of the Y3?

I have the Y3, and the connection problem is very real. Until yesterday, I could not maintain any reliable connection between the watch and my phone. The Bluetooth would continually connect and disconnect, and the m2d manager and receiver were very quickly being killed after the the screen turned off. Then I stumbled on the cause. I was checking the app notification log using Google gesture and noticed an app called Battery Master posting silent notifications. This app does not show in the app list and is not accessible in any other settings screen. However, when I tapped on one of the notifications in the notification log, it took me to the info screen for Battery Master and gave me the option to disable the app, which I did. Bluetooth, m2d, and notifications have worked perfectly ever since. So far I have not noticed any significant difference in battery drain but it will probably take a few days to know for sure.
Build quality of the watch is excellent. I love the watch now that the connection issue is fixed. The display is awesome since there is no black band around the outside and no flat tire. I've installed the ClockSkin launcher which provides a better looking interface and allows installation of all the excellent LEM5 watch faces available from the G+ user group. Battery life for me (after disabling Battery Master) seems to be about 10 hours.

That's good to hear. You should definitely make a quick Youtube video about the fix, or even just a thread here on XDA. I bet a lot of people never discovered what was the cause of their connection issues and just returned the watch. One question though, does that fix persist through a reboot, or do you have to disable the Battery Master app each time you start the watch?
Please update us if your connection issues continue to be resolved with that fix (or not).

It's actually really good. It's a solid watch, and it has a lot of good uses. I wish it did work with apps like Google Fit and Sleep as Android though, but it's not really necessary as those work fine with just the phone as is. It is supposedly IP67-rated water proof, but I don't recommend testing that by completely submerging it, or showering with it on. It likely is OK with washing hands, though. Or sweat. Never had a problem even with my original Moto 360 in that regard.
One thing these will never do is make or receive calls over Bluetooth. None of them will.
They are a stand alone watch phone. Never made to call through Bluetooth.
Cheers

Download the app Google Gesture Search from the play store onto your watch. This will allow you to easily search for settings options that are not accessible through the watch's launcher. Search for Notification Log. In the log, tap on any line that says Battery Master. This will take you to the app info page for Battery Master. You can't uninstall the app but you can disable it. This will allow Bluetooth to stay connected and will allow the m2d manager and receiver to stay running.
Using m2d, the phone will reconnect with the watch automatically if you come back into Bluetooth range.
Be aware that once you disable Battery Master, there is no way to re-enable it because it won't show up in the logs. I'm guessing that a firmware update or a factory reset would re-enable it.

The IP67 rating is a misprint, on the official LEMFO store at AliExpress, the listing for the Y3 states that it is IP65 rated. I took a screenshot because I know a lot of people were confused about that.

One thing these will never do is make or receive calls over Bluetooth. None of them will.
They are a stand alone watch phone. Never made to call through Bluetooth.
Cheers

That's really too bad. I really would like a watch like my Gear S (which also allows you to use a SIM card) that can simply pass the call through the watch. For driving it is great to keep your hands on the wheel. I wonder why the feature isn't on more watches. It seems like a no-brainer.
Yeah, these are literally a phone watch. A miniature android phone on your wrist....

Are you sure it's called "Google Gesture Search"? I can't seem to find it.

Not available in my country. I got it from APKMirror though.
I still have issues connecting after doing this. It worked fine and stayed connected the first time but once I rebooted both devices, wiiwear now force closes. I'm on Nexus 6p dirty unicorns 7.1 and the firmware on the watch is from Dec 16 any ideas

Neither Wiiwear or Sinwear will run on my Nexus 5x. I think it's an incompatibility with Android 7+. You can sync notifications to the Y3 using m2d once you fix the Bluetooth problem by disabling Battery Master.

AlCall W1 3G ¿opinions?

It has good looking, interchangeable strap, sim card, 2gb ram, 16gb storage, 420 battery ... I need to know if anyone has it and could give opinion ...

No, absolutely not. Unless you can relocate all the antennas which are in the strap.
I have it in front of me now. I promise you that this is not an option

Thanks Pablo, I was already surprised by the antenna issue. However, in many reviews was made that the belt could be changed, a shame.
How is the battery carried ?, better than No.1 D5 +?
Greetings.

Yes, battery is actually very good considering it has 2g ram. Lasts very well. I work as a consultant for the firmware makers and we have worked hard to make this a good software solution.

Have you participated in the firmware of this smartwatch? What material is the belt? I had a NO.1 D5 + but the leather strap was damaged very soon ...

Believe what you want.
But the straps cannot be changed without removing the antennas from inside them.
Cheers..

Thanks for the report, your experience is that this smartwatch is nothing exceptional or different from any other smartwatch. With a sim card, imagine what it would cost to get to the end of the day?
Thank you friend for sharing your experience.
What about GPS accuracy? I have read that is very poor, worst than others similar smartwatches. This is an important point to check for me. Thanks a lot.

can allcall w1 replace pebble?
i am worried about whether to buy.
App reminder doesnt work properly.
Baatery is so bad while using Wifi,GPS.
Im disappointed at allcall w1.
I've tested my smartwatch twice to go to run. I used "sport tracker" and all was ok until I arrived at home and left the device over the table. The watch started to sound and said that battery was very hot the two days. And after restart the watch there were two times more that it was very hot again. I have AllCall_V1.3_B_20171017 compilation version. What can I do to solve it?
Regards

All you have to do is throw it away, bro
Hi Guys.. I recently saw this on Ali express and it got my attention.
My primary use of this is going to be as a watch and fitness tracker while gymming. What's the weight like?
I don't want to use this for calls or any other notification.
Would you suggest this or some other watch?
I Like this because it's round and looks much like an ordinary watch instead of a smart watch.
Please suggest,
Thank you

If I was you I would get a fitness band if you don't need any other features.
