I figured since there is finally a place to post this, I will do so here. There is currently ongoing development for the Motorola MotoACTV smart watch. It began simply as a fitness watch, but has evolved with root, recovery, and roms into the best android watch available.
AND IT CAME OUT IN NOVEMBER OF 2011.
Interesting, yes? Let me get you some details from our current wiki (http://motoactv.wikispaces.com/home, started from the members right here on xda):
Code:
Hardware Specs:
Processor: 600MHz OMAP3 (3630) ARMv7 CPU supporting ARM architecture:
- thumb, vfp, vfpv3, edsp & neon. (overclockable to 1Ghz currently)
256MB of RAM and 8GB of NAND Flash Memory (Or 16 GB)
Wifi 802.11B/G/N
Bluetooth 4.0 (low-power mode)
ANT+ for connectivity to fitness sensors (heart rate, etc.)
FM Tuner (with Radio Data System for station & song identification)
PowerVR GPU
1.6" 220x176 capacitive multitouch LCD display
5 hardware buttons on the side:
- (Start, Music, Volume +, Volume -, Standby/Power)
1 additional capacitive button on the front for 'back button'.

White charging and notification LEDs
Accelerometer
GPS
So now that you're intrigued, let me give you some resources to get you started!

IF YOU DIDN'T LISTEN AND ARE NOW "LOW BATTERY" AND CANNOT FLASH:
First thing's first. It will probably still charge on the wall charger or a car charger. Try that first. But, if it won't...
(or if you're just an avid flasher,) I'd also recommend you get one of these to help you out of jams: Motorola Factory Cable. The one at that link from Team Black Hat is typically out of stock, but a search of the words "Motorola Factory Fastboot Cable" on eBay can get you one for between $5-8. This cable does not charge your unit and does not come with the MotoACTV.
Any questions? Please post below. And GET YOUR ACTV ON!

Mine brand new when they first came out was $249 for the 8g, but substantially lower now, I'm sure.

I just bought one as well but it still cost me $240 on amazon.

eBay is always good.

Update: just checked, they're going for $50-200 on ebay, lots are on there for sale.
Also, I will be updating the first post of this thread with any info/links that you guys need. We would love for more development of this device, since we've been doing it for months/years now.

Wow this seems great! Youtube and a browser. I recently bought myself the Sony Smart Watch, and I was not too impressed with the battery life time, how is this ones?
I also managed to ruin my SmartWatch, but I'm gonna get it refunded from the store I'll probably get this from eBay! Is there any bugs/problems I should know about from the Motorola watch?

I get mine tomorrow, and my only concern/question is how well this handles Bluetooth tethering. I use FoxFi and PDAnet with phone and tablet and i'm hoping I can use the same with the motoactv.

Not really. Battery life for me is around a week, sometimes more if I turn it off at night. I don't leave bluetooth or wifi on unless I need them though, and keep the brightness around half. I also turned off the shake-to-wake feature, as my watch was turning on when I was just walking around and using up battery life with the screen on lol.
But, for such a tiny battery, a week is pretty good in my opinion. Either way, you can just charge it every night if you're a heavy user. Keep in mind, this isn't like those other "smart watches" that only issue notifications, this is a full blown android device.

I know Nook Tether works on it for bluetooth tethering (internet pass through) I believe, but I'm not sure about the others. I've heard of PDAnet also, it might have been another that worked. I don't tether mine though, so I'm not sure.
The only thing I want different is the watch strap, and an XDA user is actually working on a better one right now. I can't wait!

I'm leading an auction on eBay at the moment. The "Buy Now" alternatives is too expensive with shipping to Norway :/
A week battery time sounds good to me I had to charge my SmartWatch every day, and that wasn't a problem.
How's the Firefox browser and YouTube app working on the watch?

Youtube works great, not sure about Firefox though. I think some people used Boat browser or something and had fine results with it.

Is there a way to keep the display on to use as a watch, without pushing a button? How much space does the OS use? Is Ebay prefer over Amazon for purchase?

It has shake to wake, where you shake your wrist and the display turns on. The os doesn't use much, maybe 200mb or something. I've got the 8 gig version and have plenty of space, even with roms. However, the space for installing apps is limited for the time being. I'm not sure, but there might be a way to partition the space on the device to get more app space.

I was unaware of the shake to awaken. I will go for the 8 Gb unit when I get the funds. More reading needs to be done to see which ROM may be the best for me. How hard is it for someone to generate a customized ROM without extensive training?

The hardest part is the script lol. Making one work is not easy. I've been working on roms for years now and this is the most finicky device I've ever seen.
Sent using XDA-funded carrier pigeons

I will have to pass on this activity fir now. Does any ROM support an audible alarm and customized time date screen?

It doesn't have a built in speaker. I'm sure you can get the alarm to show on the screen though?

That could be a problem I was thinking of using the alarm in the morning and when needed. Off to see one at VZW today.
The store did not have any, demo or for sale.

Cool! Let us know what you think! Of course, the one you see won't be rooted or have a regular android launcher on it yet.

I have decided to buy one, preferably at less than ~$250. I would prefer new versus used since they are discontinued and i am uncertain about warrantee. Maybe i can afford to order one next week. No doubt I will have questions, if rooting does not go smoothly.

Just make sure it's charged to 100% before you start, and use the root tool with a windows machine. It should be easy as pie.

The Lenovo Lynx is not exactly a hot-selling item worldwide, and so naturally there is not much discussion on this Windows 8 tablet on these or other forums.
There are however a few threads on XDA about one or other issue relating to the Lynx, so I thought of creating a thread where all of us could come together and share problems, solutions and tips.
I'll start off with some useful links:

You should already have done the free upgrade to Windows 8.1 (if it didn't come preinstalled) For those who did not do the upgrade, here are a few useful links after you do the upgrade from the Windows store.

I've had mine about 3 weeks and I'm starting to notice a screen burn effect around the edges of the screen. Particularly after using an app with a lot of white.
Anybody else have that issue?

Tested my unit, can't find any screen burn or bleeding. Have you tried updating your video driver? Does the display have any other problems (jagged lines while switching apps, screen going blank, 'Video driver stopped working and has recovered' message popups etc?
I did have that last problem after I upgraded to 8.1, but it seems to have resolved itself after a Windows Update.

I actually have tried 4 different versions of the display driver. I've used 1099, 1177, 1160, and 1130. 1130 is the only one that doesn't give me the "driver stopped working" message. What driver version are you using? And could you list what Windows updates you have installed?
No jagged lines at all. No blank screen.

I ordered a Refurb from Newegg for $239 yesterday, it should be here by Friday, I'm really looking forward to turning it on for the first time.
I love Android but only on my phone, Never liked it on tablets.. was always left disappointed.
I searched for awhile and couldn't find a dock for it, the only place I found was on amazon and it's "Currently unavailable".
I was hoping to find one on ebay for a decent price, I might go with a Bluetooth Keyboard + Leather Case from ebay.

Congrats on your purchase. If I were you I would try and find the lynx dock for it... you get an additional battery (it adds 4-5 hours easy) two full-size USB ports, and a trackpad (trackpad is kinda jumpy, though), and you can easily work with the docked tablet in your lap, or tilt the screen at any angle you like.
Getting a keyboard folio won't have all these conveniences.
Do let us know all your impressions of your new tablet.

I usually can find almost anything i search for, it's crazy that i can't find the freaking dock for the lynx.
I might have to just get the BT Keyboard and a 12000mAh External Battery Pack.

I just installed a 64gb SD card. It works ok.
And I question. My biggest problem with Lenovo lynx in win 8.1 is still the same: I want to do some things with the screen off. But every time I shut the screen off everything stops. Any help on this? Thanks.

Have you tried this:
Go to Control Panel>Power Options>Change Advanced Power Settings and change value for Turn off Display = After 1 min.
Check if after that 1 min, does only the display go off or the PC goes to sleep?
Also change the values for Lid close action = Do nothing

Dear *****,
Thank you for contacting Newegg. We apologize for the delay in response time due to the enormous order volume from Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Holiday's. We answer emails in the order that they are received. If your inquiry has already been resolved, please do not reply to this email. If you have sent us multiple inquires and we have already replied, please only respond to us one time. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
I apologize to hear this, and would be glad to assist you with your return. This is a non-refundable item, so I will be able to help you return this item and have a replacement order sent out. I just need a little more information first. 1. Do you still have the original packaging and any accessory that was originally included? 2. Can you please give a detailed reason for the return?
Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns. We'll be more than glad to assist you. Until then, thank you for contacting Newegg. Have an EGGcellent day!

I do not understand your statement "original system", what are you referring to?

I hope they aren't trying to say i can't RMA because i upgraded it to 8.1 before i realized the **** had a broken speaker and defective charger.
But if i can't RMA, hopefully it's just the speaker that is broken and not the board, maybe if i could find a replacement speaker I'd just replace the broken speaker myself. But i get the sense that even with both speakers working the sound on this tablet will still be low, and i've read as much

I think the only option is to use metro apps. From reports on other forums it seems as if metro apps can keep clovertrail tabs awake even when the display is off, but legacy windows apps cannot. So if whatever you are doing (downloading, rendering, transferring etc) can be done with a metro app from windows store, that could be a solution.

I don't think having upgraded to 8.1 should be a problem. It is after all an official upgrade of the preinstalled OS.
Here in India, when I called up the service station with a battery problem (my dock battery was not working) the customer care guys kept trying to tell me to 'take the battery out and put it back in!'
The Lynx is such a rare item that none of those customer service execs had been trained for it!
I eventually had to visit a service station personally to get the dock battery replaced (when that did not fix the problem they replaced the circuit board as well).
But you should get them to replace the speaker and charger. Like in my case, the problem could be with the board.
I am not going to rma it over the broken speaker, Pay to ship it back to them and probably wait a month to get the replacement.. and the sound probably will still be low.
From the reviews i read the sound isn't that loud or good even with both speakers.
Newegg really sucks, it's been years since i bought anything from newegg but i never had problems like this with them before. I feel like i'm talking to a chat bot or something, actually a chat bot probably would be better to deal with.

You're right. Well, if you are planning to replace the speakers yourself, do post a detailed WIP here so we can all benefit. You might have to get the actual speakers from some other device and somehow get them to fit in the slots inside the Lynx.
Though since you're looking for a bluetooth keyboard anyway, you can get one which has built-in speakers.
Or even something like this:

Not IP67 as stated by Umeox Mobile. The watch is completely dead.
I've had the 320x320 resolution watch for a few weeks, here are my issues:
1. As a potential sports watch I was taken aback by the bulky size and steel body weight of 121g. I'm not sure if it’s practical for sports, the sheer weight might damage or loosen the strap with time if you run a lot with it.
2. The top button did not have a same clicking feel as the bottom button.
3. I can see the glue around the side camera. see photo.
4. The charging socket is heavy, it does not stick well magnetically while charging, if you move the watch its easily comes apart. You have to hold the charger against the watch if you want to use the watch while charging.
5. Difficult to open the back cover to insert an SD card and its not recommended by Unova.
6. The OS need rooting to get to the deeper settings; most of the settings are hidden/locked.
7. Google Maps keeps crashing with location is turned on ...keeps doing it.
8. The sensors are only useful if there are apps for it.
9. With Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on battery it went from 97% to 70% in one hour, but it was on the first charge.
10. Speaker is below average, not too loud; I would depend on it as an alarm.

no -160 - but the form factor is the same.
Anyone here who has this watch in use on a daily basis? I am thinking about buying this watch. So any opinions on this product here? I am wondering if you can flash a custom rum such as cyanogenmod on it?
I got this with the idea to use it as a running watch, It arrived on Wednesdays but I had to go away for a few days so only had a few hours to play with it.
I got back this afternoon and have had another few hours with it.
So here are my initial impressions.
First of all it is very big and quite heavy at 120 grams.
The screen is very good and the icons of your applications are quite clear, however with certain apps like endomondo, runkeeper and micoach when you open the app the screen either doesn't show all of the information or squashes it.
Other apps such as Facebook and YouTube etc. all work well.
I am disappointed that there is no SD Card slot because I thought that it was going to have one. After I e-mailed Unova I have been informed that there is an SD card slot but you have to take the back of the watch to reach it. In their words "we don't allow end users to open and install themselves."
I won't be using the watch as a phone and do not have a Micro sim card to test it.
The WiFi and GPS seem to function well with Endomondo and Runkeeper both getting a GPS signal in my apartment quite quickly. I haven't tested it outside yet.
The biggest problem I have is that the watch does not recognize my BT heart rate monitor. I have to use a separate app to find it which is okay but Adidas micoach won't connect and neither will Endomondo the two apps that I would have used.
Runkeeper and Wahoo fitness both do find the heart rate monitor though I haven't yet tried it running.
I haven't done a battery test yet.
Overall I am not entirely unhappy with the watch but neither am I blown away by it.
I paid $250 with shipping to France which compared to any of the Android wear watches makes it quite good value with added functionality and certainly when you compare it to some of the more specific GPS sport watches which can run up to $400+.
I have also been told that it is not very water proof so if you do decide to take the plunge be careful getting it wet.
Too Big!
Thanks Gah73 for your detailed answer. The biggest problem i see, and you said it also, in those china smartwatches (or you should better say smartphones) is the fact, that the thickness of this devices is just too high! I saw a screenshot which compared other smartwatches with the Unova Ironman and the Unova is just huge and doesn't look sexy at all (however, the hardware in it is quite sexy though ). I think i will wait for other devices which could replace a smartphone functionality wise but are not bigger then 12 mm.
@Gah73
It would be really great if you could post some photos of the watch (from the sides, from top, from the active display)!
Having spent a few more days with the watch I have to say it is growing on me.
The thickness doesn't bother me so much but the weight is very noticeable.
I have a Sony Smartwatch 3 coming this week and I will choose between them.
I will take some photos of them together but it won't be until the weekend.
I have a feeling that I will be keeping the ironman due to the limitations of the Sony.

Thank you for posting your experience. I am thinking about getting this for my wife to use when she runs. She doesn't like having to carry her phone with her.
- Is the speaker loud enough to listen to music when you run? (I suspect not)
- Have you tried pairing it with bluetooth running earphones?
- Is there any chance you could install "C25K Couch to 5K by RunDouble" and see if it is usable? (I realize that is a big request, but that is the app my wife uses and there is no point in me getting the watch if it doesn't work). I really wish there was a way to test apps on a small screen to see if they would work without having to get the device first.
It seems like if xposed works on this watch the DPI could probably be changed so that most apps could be made to work.
Thanks again for posting - it really helps those of us who are looking!
RunDouble
The speaker is surprisingingly loud but probably not loud enough to listen to music whilst running.
I have had no problem connecting BT headphones, I use Jabra sport and also have some Plantronics headphones and a Plantronics headset.
I installed the app and it worked well, I connected headphones and a BT heart rate monitor, they both worked.
An advert took up some of the screen but it was very usable I think.
I had previously changed the font size from large to small because when it was large some apps did not fit the screen very well. With it set to small the apps fit better but writing is harder to read.
Thank you very much for your answer,
i am really looking forward to some detailed photos :good:
Maybe you have some answers for my questions:
Can you switch between some different launchers?
Is it possible to root this device and install custom roms on it?
Can you install normal Google Play Store apps?
I haven't tried any different launchers.
The software is pretty good on the phone already.
There is a specific watch launcher on the play store.
You can install all apps on the phone but they might not size very well.
I couldn't log into Google music as I couldn't select my account.
I don't know of any custom ROMs for it, I read that the adidas running watch is based on Android so that would be good if it could be flashed.
Unova have an app that you can install on your phone and then you receive notifications on your watch. That works quite well.
Okay, thanks for your answers. You are really helping me on choosing the right smartwatch
Can you shoot some photos of the watch from different angles (side, top, bottom etc.)? The images on aliexpress are actually meaningless.

Thanks - this is great information. I went ahead and ordered one - hopefully she'll like it.
Is this the same device with different branding: http://forum.xda-developers.com/omate-truesmart/general/poll-umeox-x202-kk4-4-320x320-ip68-t2882896
I think Unova is a brand name for Umeox.

Does anyone have it?
To save Pablo11, Cyrux75, Maitrot, chiragjn and all those others that have contributed in this thread, the trouble of repeating the same instructions and to help new owners find solutions fast, i have made a compilation of the most useful posts in this thread. None of this is mine.
The thread starter could think of putting this in the op to save some trouble.
Dont use OTA if rooted! You have to go back to stock.
Android 101 : Read first
Pablo11 :
A general announcement to anyone thinking of modifying their watch.
Be careful !!
Please read everything about this process at least twice.
I have already had several private messages asking me to fix semi-bricked watches by posting them to me.
I have a family and a full time position at work and I cannot invest the time to fix peoples watches.
If instructions are followed carefully and the forum posts regarding MTK flash tools are read then there should be no problem.
As a rule - always;
a) full backup first including NVRAM for IMEI using MTK tools.
b) make sure all drivers for SP tools are installed correctly in case of disaster.
c) have the custom TWRP recovery installed on the watch - booting from SD recovery is no good if you can't boot the watch!!
d) make sure watch is fully charged before you do anything that may take some time.
e) copy the TWRP stock backup posted by me earlier in this thread to your SD card before you do anything significant - you can delete it after but remember this each time you do something that may prevent normal boot.
This way you can always boot into recovery without your pc and flash back to stock.
Lastly - take some comfort in the fact that it's actually very difficult to permanently brick this device. If you use the correct toolset you can revive the watch almost all the time !!

FAQ:
Does it have GPS ? YES, the antenna is inside the strap (the top strap). If you want better reception keep the strap on top, facing the sky, this means that when running you may want to wear the watch in reverse. Also try to put a plastic spacer between your hand and the strap where the GPS antenna resides, it will help reception, i use a rubber band.
Companion APP? Swapp link and notisync work but this is not an android wear watch! This is like your smartphone. If you have two smartphones you can connect them through swapp link and check it out. There difference with wear is that it is optimized to be a slave to your smartphone.
Round screen means some buttons on the edges will not be accessible, try making it square (see above how) and think of using tasker to make a long press of a button to trigger the change (root required).
Does runkeeper, mapmyfitness, wahoo, strava work ? YES
Is the heart rate sensor and good ? Not if you are serious about it. Use a bluetooth HRM (Scosche Rhytm+ or Mio). Also the embedded sensor does not communicate with any of the known sport apps.
Can i change straps ? Well, yes if you dont use any of the antennas that are in the straps! If you are handy you can take the antennas out of the straps (they should be microstrip antennas) and stick them on the new strap, though the reception may be affected as the substrate of the antenna plays an important role.
I emailed gearbest they dint have it and didn't tell me if it was available for preorder looks nice though
I saw it on alibaba and I have contacted the seller and he said that is a prototype watch that could be available starting from the beginning of november.
Hello everyone.
I am very interested in this model.
Someone can facilitate link alibaba?
I order a unit to gearbest.
They have already announced also in Igogo, everbuying.
In gearbest they have told me that still has not arrived.
who is the manufacturer?
I like this watch alot. I think there is a need for round watches with android 4.4 and google play store loaded on it.
My main question is who makes this watch or even the original k8? I have seen aiwatch, invtepy and some other names but arent they just oems?
Thanks!
it look awesome , but the price is a little high ?

Can't believe no-one has this watch yet!
It looks great but no hands on information anywhere?
I'm thinking about buying this device, I've just got in contact with Everbuying (the site I am purchasing from) and I will be sure to let you all know what the response is. If I end up buying this I will also do an unboxing and review on my YouTube channel at youtube.com/theepiclysnipes
I am also thinking of creating a custom ROM for this device as the devices design is really quite great, however I feel like the UI makes it look cheap :/
Let me know if you have any other info! Cheers!!
Nice, keep us posted when you get it ?
Will do! Just ordered it then, not sure how long it will take to get from China to Australia but I will keep you all posted

Nice
Ok so it turns out that the website I ordered my watch from doesn't ship it... I was told by someone on YouTube that they bought it and they didn't ship it and they refused to refund their money... I've sent them a message though and if I don't hear anything by Wednesday I will contact PayPal and get my money back, then I will more than likely buy a moto 360 locally... I'll keep you all posted, fingers crossed.

where did you buy it?
I personally made an order via gearbest. they said that there is a delay in stock of 1-2 weeks, and offered to replace, wait or refund.
and what did you choose? refund or wait? and also , when did this happen? any chance it s back in stock now? I m using the zgpax s8 for a while now and this one really looks like it s worth the upgrade.
I purchased mine from Everbuying and it seems they just don't ship some of their products, weather they're out of stock or not I'm not sure because it didn't say they were but I've sent them a message and I'm hoping for a response... Also someone else had the same problem with the same product and they said after 3 emails to them they still refused to refund it. Hopefully either they will tell me they were out of stock or they will refund my money, because if not I'll have to sort it out with PayPal...

I just received a reply from Everbuying saying that they were out of stock and I should wait 10-15 days for more stock to arrive, however I now have enough for a moto 360 so I will be purchasing one of them... I may purchase a watch similar to this one and do custom roms, etc. In the future but for now I kind of just want to know what I'm purchasing, thank everyone!

Le Pro 3 (US Version) First Impressions

Pulled the trigger during the flash sale on Tuesday and received it on Friday morning.
The look, touch, and feel of the phone is just awesome - despite being slightly bigger than my previous phone (HTC One M8). I like the polished metal body, getting used to the fingerprint sensor and feel that the camera is adequate for the price point of this phone. Definitely worths $326 (includes tax) for an unlocked Snapdragon 821 phone.
The phone is responsive, quick, and has sharp colors. Software (OS) is not as bad as expected, based on other "professional" reviews. Since I restored my setting from Google during the phone setup, I had Google Now launcher right away. I've uninstalled it temporarily to get the feel of the native OS, but didn't appreciate it much.
So running it with Google Now Launcher is as good as it gets. However, it will take some time getting used to some limitations - lack of quick settings, which have been moved to the recent apps menu; removal of the search functionality in Settings, lackluster notifications- definitely needs some polishing.
Despite earlier negative reports, Android Pay works just fine right out of the box.
So far, I have only three problems. I think they are related to sub par Bluetooth and USB drivers on the phone, and something weird with the IR blaster.
1. Android Auto wouldn't connect/work.
My car (2016 VW Passat) sees the phone when connected, but unable to connect. My other two Android phones have no issues connecting. I've noticed that upon connecting, the phone switches to USB charging only mode and disables other options for me.
I called Le Eco - they've asked me to be patient and wait for an upcoming update; however, they didn't provide any dates.
2. The other problem I've noticed is with Bluetooth streaming to (the same) car. Sometimes, it skips-coughs for a millisecond. It happens constantly on both LTE and WiFi connections.
3. IR blaster does not work. I've installed and tested multiple apps to no avail. My favorite one SURE remote control is listed as incompatible, so I had to install an APK instead; however, as I've stated it didn't work.
Edit: Got it to work with their built-in Remote app. Works for generic devices (TV, Amplifier); however, is missing DirectTV box - again, needs polishing for the US market. I had to manually add commands to it. It is unfortunate that it is proprietary IR blaster.
I'll be patient for a few weeks and if there is no resolution, I'll return the phone to Le Eco.

Hard to say as I've been "abusing" the phone for the last couple of days, i.e. installing, restoring, configuring.
It will easily last for a full day under such "abuse"
I like the screen; however, I can't compare it to OLED, as I don't have an OLED phone.

The build quality is great. Battery life is around 6 hours plus. The only bad thing is OS. All we really need is CM or AOSP
LeEco Pro3
I've decided I'll probably keep the phone and hope they allow it to be unlocked. Worst case I'll sell it later on. The most important thing to me right now is battery life and if I can email and talk all day without a charge that's worth it to me.

My phone is scheduled for delivery tomorrow and I am struggling with the decision to even open the package because the bootloader of the US version cannot be unlocked. Your impressions make that decision a little harder. I have never bought a phone I couldn't root. Thanks for taking the time to post.
I can deal with some minor shortcomings that can be patched. You don't get specs like this for $299 anywhere.
Anyone else have an issue with the recents menu going blank on the far left app?

Ticwatch S&E - what is your opinion & More information

Hi guys,
The Ticwatch S&E powered by Android Wear 2.0 will be releasing soon.
What do you guys think of these new watches?
Link to the Kickstarter page: http://kck.st/2h2OqGj
Personally I have good faith in the watch because it is produced by a company that has been founded by ex-Googlers and has been supported by Google.
Pro's:
- OLED Display.
- Cheap.
- With the E model you can swap the watch band.
Cons:
- No NFC.
- Plastic instead of metal..
- With the S model you can't swap the watch band
Specs: (in the image)

That's a shame I hope they'll do a better job with this watch
S&E model will use Android wear 2.0 instead of ticwear OS.
For Android user is better than iOS user.
Hi there, i will not buy this watch, because of having the ticwatch 2 onyx black since 1 year. It is running without problems and I use it every day. Iam happy with it. The only advantage of the new one is Andoidwear2, but not more. I hope they will port it on my ticwatch 2 Have a nice day...
Mtk is a killer for many. It is a deal breaker.
Kinda sad how no one is able to top the original Huawei Watch. It came out in September 2015!
I've first backed for the TicWatch S on Kickstarter but witthdrawn my pledge as IP67 is really not enough for me, I was really excited about the TiWact S when first heard of it, but the lack of a proper Water Proofing (not water resist) made go for the Nixon MIssion, of course it's a far more expensive watch but it also is tougher.

i think the lg u2 tops all. and its also from 2015 (ok last rev. 2016)
I just received the Ticwatch E, I backed it on Kickstarter. Honestly, I just wanted to be able to change watch faces whenever I felt like it and it was only $99.00. If you have questions I'll try to answer them.
I just got mine and I love it a ton. It's exactly what I want, which is notifications on my wrist, and Google Assistant in my wrist. I'm already missing a lot less notifications. It's also charging quite fast! Two hours for a full charge at most.
I got mine delivered yesterday (S Model). So far I like it! I have a Moto 360 Gen2 so it's not a huge upgrade but it's more responsive and yes it seems to charge really fast.

Just got mine a few days ago - I will say this - it's worth the $
Hi I have also just received them and I found them to perfectly fit my needs.
I have one question however hoping to find positive answer. As you might know, there is NFC chip on the watch as well, however is disabled thanks to some Android Wear security rules. Do you think there will be a way how to enable the NFC chip?
Having working NFC on the watch would be really nice bonus.
Ticwatch S impressions
I got my Ticwatch S on Thursday last week and I am mostly disappointed with the watch. My main complaints are:
1. The wakeup gesture doesn't work reliably. Most of the time it doesn't detect my wrist gesture and stays dark. Sometimes it needs around a second to detect it and to lit up.
2. The battery life is horrible. It hardly lasts more than a day, sometimes even less.
3. The OK Google command is not working very well. You need either to talk very close to the microphone or try couple of times to make it working. In general I think this is a problem of the microphone, because it doesn't work reliably in other applications as well
4. The watch is not very legible exposed to direct sunlight and it lacks automatic brightness which makes it extra bright during the night and not very bright during the day.
5. There is a rainbow effect around the screen edges, which is a bit annoying
6. I think also that the watch is a bit bulky and a bit on the heavy side, also the strap is made of rubber so your wrist sweats a lot during exercises.
And last but not least the Ticwatch forum is complete garbage. I tried to post two threads regarding my initial impressions and a question about how to switch from Fahrenheit to Celsius in the forum and they never showed up there, which means that the admins didn't approve them! So my advice is not to buy any Mobvoi product!
Ticwatch E compass ???

Have you been able to find and use the E-compass supposed to be built in the watch??
I can't find any compass app in the watch and any I've installed from Play don't work (either with location turned off or on). GPS works well, but compass seems dead or absent?

Hi, don't know your source of information, but to the best of my knowledge Ticwatch S & E use a Mediatek CPU that has no NFC and there is no other NFC built into the watch.
I'll be overjoyed to be proved wrong of course!!

^this!!! I also have the S model.
I am truly much more satisfied with my two year old Fossil Q Founder 1st Generation. There is also a lot of trouble with Google Fit. The values are all over the place. I sent several tickets to the support and haven't received any answers, just a note that the message has been received.
So far a bad expereince. And I thought OnePLus has terrible customer service...

What really drives me crazy about this Ticwatch is that my two threads didn't even appear in their forum. I got a message that they have to be approved by the admin beforehand and then disappeared. I guess they are even censoring their own forum. After couple of days of use with the watch I can report that the battery is lasting not more than 24 hours with very little usage. This is far from the advertised 2 full days. Usually if I track an exercise I need to re-charge it more often.
It would be interesting if someone would find a way to gain root access on this smartwatch. I can confirm that there is NFC and that it is not enabled because the processor doesn't support android pay, but in Chinese version NFC is enabled.
I was a super early bird backer of the S model on the Kickstarter campaign. So far my experiences seem atypical:
1. Got my tracking number and received my watch with no real issues.
2. Battery life for me seems pretty good. As I'm writing this, I am at 30hrs of use with 25% charge left. I have both bluetooth and wifi on, display set at 4 (is that 75%?) , OK Google detection is ON, Always on display is OFF.
3. Wake up gesture is ok, not as laggy as what I have read from others. I'd say it wakes about 90% pf the time.
4. Google Assistant detection only seems to work when screen is on, but i think that is how its supposed to be right? It recognizes the OK Google prompt, pretty well for me, however, I have been told by many many people that I am a loud talker.
Overall, I'm digging it, and am pretty happy with what I got from a $119 investment.
