Isn't this thread irrelevant at the moment? There are only FEW of us who have actually played with the One

My friend main important thing I would like to know about the things in final release, demo impression or feature is not much important

I didn't get you, the FINAL ONE isn't released yet, is it? Then how can anyone play with it? There are only Pre-release models in stores and they have some bugs

I'm pretty sure the press launch events had the final build, one of the videos I recall watching last week had this mentioned by the tech reviewer. I recall him saying they were advised it wasn't final but his opinion was that it was final. Mobicity is shipping the black model of the One to customers on March 1st, this Friday, it seems late to make any changes with production if they're about to start shipping to suppliers in a few days.
I should be getting mine before the end of next week I hope so I'll definitely add my thoughts here.

Sure, any and every thought is welcome. But by pre-release models, I mean their software. I still think there is some fine-tuning left to do

Can somebody confirm what is actual usable memory size showing on Demo unit out of 32GB?

this really isnt necessary -_-

Would these questions make more sense in the Mega information thread?

Pre-order phone & pre-publish thread just 5 days away from final earliest date suggested by from French operator and few members here, just little advance planning my friend as hugely chance that I become too busy with my 'one' and than hardly got any time for xda forum - as I am not thinking to alter or root of ONe's beauty for at least 30 day
This is the only 'one' I am waiting for

HD3 out in 9 days!

http://www.fudzilla.com/mobiles/mobiles/htc-hd3-out-in-9-days
That is a pretty bad 'article'.
The 'reporter' has worded it such that the reader has no idea which specs are for which device they mention.
Their 'sauce' [sic] mentions AMOLED displays, which in the current market, are a pain to get hold of, and HTC have already mentioned getting different types of screen (such as the Sony one a commenter has said) rather than use the AMOLED.
Well it's coming out anyway in the near future shame I still got another year on my contract.. The specs that have been mentioned seem very impressive I'm not sure about an even slighlty bigger screen it's big enough ain't it?
I bet my life that thats fake.

From what little evidence there is out there - at least from what little can be treated as in any way reliable - 15th September MAY be the day of the official announcement, with the actual device available some time thereafter.
One 'sauce' reckons an O2 spreadsheet shows it being available from mid-October.
Being little more than a month away from release - perhaps - I might have thought there would be more noise about WPS7, or am I just missing it? If locked down like the bright boys say it will be, WPS7 may be a killer - nice device or not. Backward compatability with WM6.5 anyone?

I'm really not worried about the launch on the HD3 to be honest. It's likely to have initial problems and updates will inevitable. I'll hang on for the length of my contract and get one when it's up? I'm sure some clever cooks gonna run the os on an HD2 anywez?

+1 I call shenanigans
Very Interesting, but a big but....
Looking at another article the specs seem resonable, except I do not believe the dual core bit (Two major steps in one phone?)
Otherwise it looks like a phine with peppersauce and a cream-vanillasauce on top to soften things.
I am worried about stability and performance (New OS, Bigger screen [375 Kpix vs 1000 Kpix], probably - as HTC-usual- no good graphic drivers, Dual-core?)
If as usual the graphics drivers suck again, screen will be slower as on HD, as there are almost 3 times the amount of pixels to manipulate while the proc only delivers about 1.4 times HD2 capacity.
Stability will be an issue as combining new Operating system, new techniques and new processors, probably new gui over WP7 rarely integrate without major issues.
Glad I just hava a proven good phone, I will let the new techniques cristallize to stability before I will buy one.
Fake Fake and Fake
All we have to do is wait and see for it to come out, just appreciate what u've got for now!
I think this is too good to be true. Just me.
I'm going to take a punt and offer an opinion - nothing more.
I think the announcement date is probably genuine - the timing feels about right - and I suspect that the specs aren't too far off the mark, although I certainly wouldn't treat them as gospel.
The timing of RTM is much trickier and may be the alarm bell that should convince me that this is fake. If it is to be a WPS7 device, an October release is rather early given that MS seem to be suggesting availability of WPS7 from December...last I looked anyway.
So I think there is a germ of truth submerged in a moderate quantity of bull excreta. Happy to be proved wrong either way though!
Wouldnt it make alot more business sence to drum up interest and market the phone pre-releases?
THis is not going to be released in such a short time frame just like hd2 release drag it out and you get more ppl interested
Feck off (and i have to write this to bulk up my reply)

HTC One delayed in several markets, camera sensor manufacturing to blame

KGI Securities reports that HTC has manufacturing issues with the One's voice coil motor (VCM) and compact camera module (CCM) on its UltraPixel camera.
"We believe the production restraints that UltraPixel faces will severely limit HTC One shipments," KGI analyst Kuo Ming-chi said with launch estimates being lowered from 4M units to 800k-1,2M.
This would be, IMO, disastrous for HTC as they need to sell as many Ones as possible before the SIV comes out, but they may not be able to.

the plan was never to sell before the S4 comes out....HTC aiming for its own slice of the smartphone buyers, mainly those who really care more about build quality and the iPhone switchers
you surely don't believe HTC is focusing on selling before the S4 is out, what's up with you guys? HTC is not your neighborhood grocery shop
This does worry me a bit. What concerns me most is not the restricted number of units, it's the implications to the components in the phones that do sell.
If most of the camera sensors that come off the production line are faulty, does that mean that the ones that are judged to be okay are only barely in spec? Will this lead to high failure rates a, few months after purchase, or needing to return 2 or 3 handsets in a row till you get a "good" one? Can you even be sure if it is "good" or that the retailer will acknowledge the problem with the first one as genuine issue? That's the kind of hassle I can do without.

You surely don't believe HTC doesn't wanna sell it's flagships to the masses and make huge profit, and content to almost go bust with the limited buyer range, I mean that's just ridiculous. They didn't contact 185 carriers worldwide to hand out only a handful of handhelds - like with blockbuster movies, smartphone launch is the most important time to sell, and manufacturing problems could have disastrous effects as HTC bets everything on the Beautiful One.
Also worth saying that HTC has form when it comes to shipping less than perfect hardware and not admitting to it. Most HD2's sold in the month or two after launch had an absolutely galloping case of "pink spot" in the camera. After a couple of months they quietly fixed the problem, and subsequent handsets were okay; but they never admitted there had been a problem with the early ones, and never offered to repair or replace them.
If you don't believe me, check the XDA archives - you won't find single poster in the first couple of months after the HD2 launch saying "hey, my camera is fine".

I think you need a slight correction there Hamdir ...
HTC will be selling and shipping well before the G4 comes out .. it's only being ##announced## on 14th March, not released for sale then ...
A bit worrying but at worst will be delayed by week or so for initial batch. Still be getting the htc one rather then S4 or any other smartphone as its the best smartphone out there.
S4 will be probably be selling around mid April at the earliest still one should beat it to the market and hopefully sell millions to give consumers more for their money. Push Samsung to move away from plastic and amoled since Samsung are in the position to produce far superior smartphones then they are at the moment, just means less profit per unit for them.
Take a chill pill and relax man.

It specifically mentions "low yield rates". The "yield" is the percentage of components that come off the production line that aren't faulty. Nearly all electronic components have yields well below 100% even when things are going well: each one is tested when it's finished, and it has to pass certain checks; if not, it's thrown out.
If this story is true then it means that the percentage of camera sensors that are classed as being good enough to use is much smaller than HTC was expecting - in other words that far more of them turn out to be unuseable than they expected. That quite likely means that even the ones which pass the test only barely pass it, which may have implications for reliability or lifespan.

the same can be said about the One X early two months I'm afraid...(and tons of other devices / brands)
Every handset I've had on date of release, first batch I've exchanged due to one issue or another be it hardware or software. That includes Samsung s3, note 2. iPhone 5, hox. So I'm prepared for that, anticipating that and if it doesn't happen then great.

According to this: http://www.androidauthority.com/htc-one-availability-issues-167070/ they're looking at a 20% yield on the camera sensor - that's atrocious.

Odd really isn't it ... you's expect a CCD with larger pixels to be easier to screen than one with more, smaller ones ... is this just another attempt to undermine by some news agency or stock trader looking for a fast buck ?? After all, if they can depress the HTC stock value ahead of te launch and buy up .. they will make a killing when it rises on the One's success ...

Ofcourse i wont be pleased but I've experienced that with Samsung so not a deal breaker.
Btw it's Mr I'm using my own picture in my profile.
iPhone 4/5, iPad3, Sony Xperia S, Asus Nexus 7, HTC One X, Samsung SGS2 and SGS3, LG as well
all had defects in the first months of release
we discussed all this to death on the One X forum early days and now all the panic and drama are behind us
if you want to be an early adopter of a completely new product, be prepared to do some returns

Ordered LTA N9000 today, arriving tomorrow at 10:30AM (EST), feel free to ask Qs

Apologies if this is in the wrong section. There were some threads like this already, but I don't think any were for the Exynos Latin American (LTA) version.
The title sorta says it all. I was bouncing between the SnapDragon and Exynos, and they'll both be great, but in the end I went with the Exynos simply because... it was the first one in stock If I had the choice... I probably would have gone SnapDragon, simple because I live in an LTE area and AOSP ROM support would be great if Samsung doesn't keep up with Android releases.
I say that because I don't want those of you who pre-ordered an LTE model to despair - I'm just impatient when it comes to tech, and I'm sure yours will be here before you know it
I ordered early this morning before work (I saw a tweet that said Negri has LTA in stock, and thought, well... viva Español!.. or Portugese? LTA is kinda vague), and right now the FedEx tracking number shows a 10:30 delivery time for tomorrow morning. I had to pay a little extra for next day, but it seems to have been worth it - I was afraid they'd take 48 hours to process, which is super annoying when you pay for next day shipping. I ordered around 5:00am and got a tracking number sometime around 10am, if you're curious.
If anyone has any specific questions, I'll get off work sometime between 4 and 6PM tomorrow (I'm a teacher, so I never really know), and I'd be happy to answer them when I get home.
Congrats on that beast. I am really looking forward to hearing about your adventures with it.

Haha define "a little extra". I don't know how shipping is in your country but Next Day is very expensive in the US.
Chess engine benchmark seems to be very challanging for some cpus... I'm in DC. The price wasn't too bad. I think regular shipping would have been like $20, and I paid just over $40.
I'll answer the other questions soon! :victory:
How much more improved is the sPen, as far as points of pressure sensitivity and performance? The Note 2s has 1024 points of pressure, but I saw no word on if or how it was improved. Also when you'd draw near the sides it will get wacky and out of control. Hope they resolved that with the Note 3. Look forward to hearing your thoughts on it. Hope to upgrade to it from the Note 2 on Verizon.

When I came home, I sat down on my couch, took out the at&t SIM card in my Nexus 4, popped it in, logged into wifi, logged into the samsung account thing, logged in to google apps, and I used it for about three hours straight until a battery warning popped up.
Anyway, I didn't really plan on doing many benchmarks, but I have quadrant on my nexus four and so it automatically downloaded/restored on the N3. I was going to delete it immediately (I want to keep things really minimal until I have root... I don't like not having control over apps with things like android firewall) but I thought, ok, what the hell, and ran it. It got a 17k something, which is higher than I've ever seen, but I think rather low compared to tests I saw online.
However, three things: one, my N9000 was doing a LOT in the background, and I never even rebooted it. It was downloading, syncing, installing, etc etc, and the RAM usage was about 250MB away from full (I checked after the benchmark finished). I'm sure I could inflate that score if I did multiple runs and turned everything else off. Two, the graphics portion of quadrant floored me. I reminded myself that I was using a 1080x1920 phone, and that the raw FPS may not be the highest... but it was a static 60FPS for every single graphics test, except the very last one (the DNA thing), where it hovered around 45.
Speaking of which: I have been using android a looooong time, before the DROID, and quadrant has been my go-to benchmark for the vast majority of that time. If you asked me just a few years ago if I'd ever have a full HD phone that was capable of running the quadrant test at 60FPS, I would have guessed yeah, maybe in a decade or so.
I know this isn't really the point, as I think you want to compare benchmarks with other phones and models of the Note 3, but damn! Sometimes technology can still blow me away. Even when I've read all the previews, leaks, etc, it was kinda thrilling to see that in my hand.
Anyway, the third and final note is that real-world performance has been phenomenal. The bloatware keeps trying to slow it down - it heaps gigabytes of clutter and muck at the Exynos - but it refused to ever stop, or even slow. I have no idea if it's better than the S800, I'd have to use them side-by-side for a week or so to really get a feel for their differences, but I am EXTREMELY happy with the Exynos 5420.

Sorry, I can't really answer, as I only used the Note 2 (and original Note) in stores. I did try drawing near the sides in the s-pen coloring app and the free download of autodesk, and it all worked fine, so, um, I guess they fixed it? Or do I need to use the pen a certain way?
One thing that I was REALLY impressed with: I always thought that the s-pen floating circle thing was a cool idea, but if you have to hold the pen that close, it's not really doing you any favors. However, I can't believe how far away I can hold the s-pen and still see the dot trailing me around, it seems like an inch, at least. I'm often not even trying to use that feature, and I see the little dot, aiming down for me, showing more detail and/or text. It's awesome! Was it always that cool? I really don't think it worked so well in the stores on the Note 2, but once again, I'm not the guy to ask. Sorry!
OVERALL IMPRESSION FIRST THREE HOURS: It's the best phone ever made. That's only my opinion, obviously, but I mean that with no hyperbole. I'm still going to suggest that my mom get an iPhone 5c or 5s, but for android fans, and maybe even for apple defectors, this is it. This is the best. LOVE IT!!
Oh, and on a somewhat negative note? Holy $!&% is this thing full of... "features." I mean, a lot of them are kinda cool, a few are genuinely awesome, but most are just... I don't know, not bad, not good, just overload. After three straight hours, I seriously feel like I haven't even scratched the surface. I saw "trip adviser" on it (which was, thankfully, the only app that really stood out to me as BLOAT!), and went to uninstall, but I could only turn it off, not uninstall... it's a small app, but still, kinda annoying. Hopefully I'll have it rooted soon!
Can you post your baseband and firmware versions?
Komodo,
Re Chess benchmark - Yes, i still need you to do that chess benchmark (in that thread i have only snapdragon results).
Komodo Rogue said:

Hi There- Can you tell me what the difference is between the LTA N900 version and the regular N900 version?

**Unofficial and slightly maverick British Z2 Thread.**

As every other country seems to have one, I thought I would start a British one. Loving my Z2 but I do have a few small issues which I hope will be resolved with software updates. Sometimes when I'm listening to music, the Track ID app would randomly open. I have removed this app. Today, Sony connect kept launching for no reason. My Phone had been "up" for 355 hours so I rebooted which seems to have resolved this issue. Still no sign of software update. I am currently on .55.
I came from the S3 as I was uninspired by the S5 but there are a few things I miss, such as having the settings menu from the bottom left key. I also do not like the way notifications and short cuts are split up. I am yet to test the waterproofing but am looking forward to taking some under water photos when I go on holiday later in the year.
Your impressions of the phone? What do you like and dislike about it? Have you had your free speaker yet?
The only issue I have had with my contract phone from 3 Uk is that it has froze 3 times in two days which required me to hold power and the volume up to reboot it.
It may have just been a rogue app misbehaving as it hasn't happened again.
There is an annoying nag with Audio sync issue when shooting 4K. I have a genuine Sandisk SDXC class 10 card which should be fast enough but there is clearly a audio lag of a second. It is also there when choosing internal storage too so it isnt the card.
I too came from the S3. Didn't like lagwiz but did like the community on here for flashing Roms. I suppose I really wanted, as close to, a stock Android experience and Sony has done a good job.
I too came from a S3. I was running CM nightlies and got fed up of the poor camera (not cm's fault) and lack of device support.
On a sim only 3 UK handset.
One niggle I have is the lack of full screen widgets, or at least no option to make them go full screen.
For example dashclock starts minimized which I found really annoying. To remedy this I am using Acdisplay which handles notifications really well. Be warned it does conflict with lightflow. I like it as it adds a screen before my pin where I can preview messages et al and launch directly into the app when sliding up.
I also really miss full screen artwork when playing music as well.
Apart from this I am pretty happy with the handset, I haven't felt the need to swap to a custom launcher yet nor have I had the need to flash and get on a non-UK .402 release just to be "the most up to date"
Nice thread, just received my 2nd Z2 a couple of hours ago, my previous one had the 'multiple touch issue'. Couldn't even text on it. I'm hoping that this one doesn't decided to go crazy one me...
Edit: I'm also with 3 and I received my BT speaker today as well. A black one too, kinda wanted a white one with me getting the white phone, but I'm not too bothered.

I got my free speaker today and I am well impressed! Been listening to my music at work and it has a lovely bass sound.
I decided to keep my S3 and donated my Z to a niece. Loving the Z2 and waiting a bit before I root it.

Great thread, now I can say what I think about these country specific monstrositys as it's my right to be here in the British section .
Time to tread carefully so not to offend or have the race card mentioned but..
I have always disliked the fact other countries decide even though XDA is an English speaking communitie and every user has a common interest, they must be different and have there own threads. It kinda disappoints me that no moderator can stand up and say enough is enough, we are all Android enthusiastics here so let's not discriminate against others and be the one community that can join together as a hole.
I understand about the fragmentation in Android but does it need to effect the XDA forums too?

I had the similar freeze issues on my 3 firmware, flashed a generic UK FW and everything is perfect since then. Give it a try. I even got few gigs of extra space on my phone memory which was filled by junk apps.

As far as I understand , the point of country specific threads is to discuss issues like shipping info, special country specific offers, country related firmwares and operator issues which are of no benefit to anyone from any other country. They are not to discriminate rather they try to streamline certain problems.
Coming from S3 too!
Still on .55 firmware, but I'll be rooting ASAP, well as soon as know I have no immediate h/w issues.
I too miss quick access to the settings, but I'll get used to it.
I also miss being able to switch to 2g, maybe this comes with the .402 update?
Look forward to a busy Z2 forum
Great idea for this a British thread ! i came from a rooted S2 running Omega V23 ROM and an Apollo Kernel. Had the phone for 3yrs . i like the size of the Z2 .. but not happy about the screen. i use the phone outside a lot and on a bright day i find it almost impossible to see the screen. The camera on the Z2 is fantastic ! such an improvement over my old S2 . i tend to find i loose the wifi signal on the Z2 a fair bit . checking emails it will just loose the connection. i am still on .55 will flash updates soon and see if it corrects the wifi issue . i hope soon that a way will be found to back up the TA partition so DRM keys can be saved . we shall see . :good:

Seeing as I permanently reside in the UK - I think this thread is for me. I've moved from the iPhone to the Samsung Galaxy S2/3/4 and now onto the Z2. I can honestly say this is the best phone I have ever owned! Battery life, camera, size, premium feel, what more can I ask for? Got a SmartWatch 2 to go with it and I love the combination, along with my new bluetooth speakers (free thanks to 3!) and of course the Google Ecosystem which keeps me connected everywhere to everything work and personal.
Love this thread too by the way :cyclops:
I'm liking the love lol. I too am thinking of getting a smart watch. What do we think of the Sony? Are they a waste of money and just a gimmick?
The one that came with my Z1 was never used. Just not much a watch person and don't want one more thing to remember to charge...
Incidentally, I don't live in the UK but since all my phones come from Clove, I think I can participate on this thread

Hey guys,
I was just wondering if anyone here could tell me what the official length of support for the Xperia Z line is please? Obviously I got the Z2 but after reading about Xperia and how Sony properly over the past few weeks, I see they said they are now to release a new phone/flagship every 6 months. I have a feeling I *may* have made a mistake getting this phone in that case! Unless someone can confirm Sony has a 18-24 month support on devices in the UK, I don't see why I should keep a phone that may be redundant in the next 10 months regardless of development support.
Thanks in advance!
They've always had 1/2 year flagships, I wouldn't worry about it
2011 - Arc > Arc S
2012 - S > T
2013 - Z > Z1
2014 - Z2 >??
Recently they've not been so bad with updating older phones, some delay at times. But nothing to worry about IMO

Where are the reviews?

How soon until the major blogs/news outlets will start posting their reviews of these units? I can't wait to read all about the 6P, especially about the camera and battery.
The phone isn't available!
Most bloggers /reviewers don't get a review unit until it's available for sale, also most have to buy the phone themselves.
Also any good reviewer will use the phone for a week or two so they can actually give you a review, not just impressions, which we've seen a ton of.
Patience.
probably looking at another 10 days or so before we see them start pouring in.

Not true at all.... Maybe top ten or so get a free unit (can be 5, or 20 but several do) to test week before the event even started. That's how dxomark grade the camera. Was the same for moto xpe. I assume one week to see reviews.... When actual units start shipping, we will see plenty more "blogger" reviews who had to wait like anyone else

I understand in some cases this is the case but with this reveal it was pretty clear that the popular bloggers/reviewers did not have advance notice or time with the phone, as they all live blogged it and told us as they found out about it, many of them were even surprised at certain features. I heard about 5 times how they found pout at the press event that the camera hump wasn't as big as the leaked pictures led them to believe.
Google really wanted to keep the wraps on this and the fact that there are no reviews out currently support this fully. I'm not saying you are wrong, but in this particular phone release, I'm pretty confident saying no one got early press review units.
Now I'm not saying that a handful didn't get one after the event, but we now need to give them time to actually use it, before they review it.

also - we'll likely see a flood of "unboxing" reviews/posts before anything substantial hits the streets. i've grown to hate the unboxing vids. takes the magic out of the whole process. plus teh "reviews" are garbage.
You just have to stick with the good reviews and kind of ignore the people that either crap on anything not X or glow over everything and anything that cross their desk. I wouldn't expect to see review for 2 more weeks at least.
can't wait for the reviews, i want to know about any overheating issues and probably battery. really hyped about the idle battery life.
Wish it will live up to expectations~
have all of the 810's overheating issues been strictly related to recording 4k video?

I agree unboxing's take the magic away, but I'm so impatient, I'll still watch it. It helps me get excited again, while I wait through the ridiculously long wait period Google has provided us.
The only reviewer I pretty much trust is MKBHD.
