I've never given any smartphone an editors choice award before, though I daily regret not giving the One S an award of some kind. For the HTC One I'm giving our Editors Choice Gold award, which is our second highest award. The One is an incredibly awesome device
I'm a big fan of the HTC One and can see myself using it for quite a while, even without seeing necessarily everything of its main upcoming contenders. It's a device which amazingly is built to the kind of specifications I'd want from a device — huge emphasis on camera, all metal construction with actively tuned antennas, and a powerful SoC inside.

thanks for the info!
I will try to gather all information i can find in one big thread.
if the article is correct, the htc one will be indeed sold in germany very very early

yes i will. I will get a review unit in the next few weeks from htc as well so i can give you some early impressions as well

Most other retailers also mention the 15th of march. It's probably just a PR thingy for Vodafone - I don't expect them to sell many devices, it's just to create some buzz. But I'm not sure whether the info is correct as they seem to be the only ones doing it, which is strange. However, it seems that the information comes from Vodafone directly.
On a different note, I have a question regarding the speakers:
Consider being on a call, talking, when suddenly you receive an SMS with maxed out volume. Wouldn't that make your head explode as one of the speakers is directly at your ear?!?!

HTC Flagship - HTC One - Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 600 - Mega Information Thread
Just saw your post on Hamdir's thread. I will follow his thread regularly and from now I follow this too.
I will get the device as soon as it was released, thinking of my one x, whether to keep it or sell it. If the price was <700 usd, I will keep my one x. Just now OneX development is getting better and the device is so smooth after JB, so can't sell it.

I am worried about it, too... It was like that on a mobile phone I once had. However I guess HTC will use the proximity sensor to turn down the volume to a safe level.

I just hope they thought about it (this would be the perfect solution actually - just turn off the upper speaker completely).

I don't think the message tone will be active when the call is active. I never had that on OneX or dhd.

Of course it is active on the One X. I'm not 100% sure if it is the case for SMS, as I rarely use SMS anyways, but it is certainly true for GMail.

Where's Hamdir?
Anyway I hope we will see reviews very soon,I am very curious about the stereo speakers, screen under sunlight and camera performances

I'm talking about the SMS tone. There's a notification in the status bar when we got a message while in call, no tone. At least for me.

Well, that's details - I'm talking about messaging tones in general, regardless of the source. It happens definitely with my One X for various types of notifications.

Then it would be suggestible to use a headset for calls. It's good for health too.
Just kidding.

Or simply only making calls with activated loudspeakers and holding the device 50cm in front of you. Preferrable in a train or bus.

[DISCUSSION] Desire Z with 800MHz = No upgrade to Android 3.0 (gingerbread) !?!?

I just realized that according to what Google has already laid out, the HTC Desire Z with its 800 MHz processor doesn't meet the minimum specs standard to upgrade to Android 3.0 aka Gingerbread (at least not "officially") becaue the minimum requird spec is 1 GHz !!
I hope xda-devs comes up with a solution (overclocking ?? hybrid port ??)
because I love the form factor and the fact the Desire Z is HTC and has the latest sense UI
I'm very concerned... I don't want to invest on a phone that will become obsolete that fast !! (gingerbread is scheduled for december-january)
What do you guys think about this ??
The dark side (Droid 2 world edition) is tempting me...

For one you are in America right? So you can't get the Desire Z anyway, you can get the G2 though.
And secondly, this crap about Gingerbread requiring a 1Ghz processor to run was a rumour that Google debunked ages ago so please just get over it and wait like the rest of us to find out what exactly is happening with Gingerbread.
And in anycase the D2 World Edition is almost identical to the Desire Z/G2 anyway. HTC have the new CPU and GPU on these where as the D2 has the new CPU and same old GPU as the original so really they seem on par if this was your case for choosing that so you 'will definitely get Gingerbread'

I find your response very emotional, hey I obviously prefer an HTC device over a Moto one, but the upgradeability is very important for me. I need facts.
Regarding the american bands, pdadb says there's an US version Desire Z scheduled for december
If those google requirements have been 'debunked', I'd appreciate if you can share some links/quotations from trusted sources

I'm guessing the reason he seems "Emotional" is because this same post keeps popping up again and again on every forum, and it seems people will keep churning them out with no end in sight. The rumor is based on a tweet. There are tons of articles about this. (I haven't posted allot to this forum so can't actually post links, but just google for it.)
If you want to see the original statements by googles team you can search twitter for it. We have no reason to assume Desire Z wouldn't get a 3.0 update, if devices like Desire would. And at any rate, the Qualcomm 7230 (Which is the chip in use) is designed to run between 800 and 1000mhz.
The guys designing these devices aren't stupid. They wouldn't release a device (indeed a premier device) if it's going to go obsolete or at least behind within 6 months. Yes, droid devices are constantly moving forward but certainly not that fast. Just don't worry about this kinda stuff.
Thth are recommend specs the g2 will be plenty fast enough
Sent from my HTC Super Hero using XDA App which doesn't have the word iPhone in its vocabulary, and I wish I didn't either all on my custom baked Rom
The 800Mhz proc from the Desire Z is a Dual-Core processor, so, it's better than the 1Ghz proc from my good old HTC Desire ! I think it has the requirements for Gingerbread !
PS: Andy 3.0 isn't GingerBread

Interresting.. Qustion is, if this 'slower' dual cpu, then will be faster, than the single CPU, with intergrated graphics, but higher mhz?

Of course it will.. But mostly it will depend on operation. You can never compare a first 1 generation cpu with later generation by just looking at cpu frequency.
Any link to that supposedly "debunked" minimum hardware reqs ??
I'm lookinig for some confidence on this matter.
.
is there anything else coming to the market with a qwerty hook up and touch screen?
Im over winmo and want to try an android phone.
Right now i have TP2 and b4 that i had Touch HD
Does Simbian suck?
I need something that i can use when i go to the UK as well, so like Droid X and all that stuff doesnt work for me.
I like this new HTC but everyone talking about 1ghz and dual processors and how its gonna be slow and no front facing cam blah blah blah makes me think twice, or three times even.
Frankly I think the front-facing camera thing is a bit of a white elephant at the moment. I've had one on my phone for about three years now (Win Mo) and I've never used it once. OK that may change as networks get faster, but I see no real need for one now.

I like this new HTC but everyone talking about 1ghz and dual processors and how its gonna be slow and no front facing cam blah blah blah makes me think twice, or three times even.

There's that Verizon phone that's been floating around recently that had the fire red keyboard. if I'm not mistaken from one of the pics it's a dual mode and has a sim slot though to be honest you will likely pay a huge premium using that or any other phone like t outside the states.
Think it's either a 3.8" or 4" screen.

I am looking to jump from Symbian to Android but am stuck due to the hardware. You might like to consider the Nokia E7 but it's anyone's guess as to when it might actually see the light of day. As an example, the N8 announced six months ago has still not gone on sale yet!
Symbian is functional but I'm afraid that's about all I can say about it from a user perspective. It doesn't have the developer support of the likes of Android and iOS. The point in its favour is the hardware is generally better - better cameras better audio and often better build quality.
Swings and roundabouts I'm afraid ... always the case!
Desire Z using second generation of Qualcomms Snapdragon, as i write in other post, read this:
My opinion : Desire Z is faster .. and do you know why?
So..
Desire HD using Qualcomm QSD8255 -> it is Snapdragon 1st generation

Bud Desire Z using Qualcomm MSM7230 -> Snapdragon 2nd generation
Specifications:
Scorpion 800 MHz CPU (can be safely overclocked to 1GHz = Recommanded Maximum )
Integrated 3G mobile broadband connectivity
MSM7230 support for HSPA+ networks - up to 14 Mbps downloads and 5.76 Mbps uploads
MSM7630 support for HSPA+ networks - up to 14.4 Mbps downloads and 15.761 Mbps uploads – as well as CDMA2000 1X, 1xEV-DO Rel A/B, GSM, GPRS and EDGE
Low-power 45nm process technology for higher integration and performance
High-definition (720p) video recording and playback up to 30 frames per second
Multiple video codecs: (MPEG-4, H.264, H.263, VC-1, DivX, DivX 3.11, Sorenson Spark, VP6)
High-performance GPU - up to 41M triangles/sec and 245M 3D pixels/sec and dedicated 3D/2D acceleration engines for Open GLES 2.0 and Open VG 1.1 acceleration
High-resolution XGA (1024x768) display support
12-megapixel camera support
Built-in eighth-generation gps engine with Standalone-GPS and Assisted-GPS modes
Support for Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® connectivity

Support for mobile broadcast TV (MediaFLO™, DVB-H and ISDB-T)
Support for Android™, Brew® Mobile Platform and Windows® Phone
So Desire Z have:
CPU on 800MHz .. but not problem go to 1GHz = Same as Desire HD
GPU 2 x better then Desire HD GPU = +1 to Desire Z
45nm technology - Desire HD have 65nm technology = +1 to Desire Z
So in SoC category is Desire Z better then Desire HD.
Regards, MiTMaN
PS: Repair me please when Im wrong.
nice contrib MiTMaNeK

I couldn't find triangles/sec stuff for this one
Note also that this new GPU/CPU combo chip is different to the Snapdragon found in earlier HTC Androids. It is likely that 800MHz on this new chip bears similar performance to 1GHz on another chip.
This is very similar to comparing Intel and AMD CPUs on the desktop. Because different processor designs have varying Instructions-Per-Clock, you can't make a simple comparison between clock frequencies.
The other thing to note is that a major complaint with smart phones (and Android in particular) is terrible battery life when comparing them to feature phones. I'd be happy with a lower maximum clock if it meant longer times between charges.
i think Desire HD using 2nd Generation Snapdragon 1GHz processor which is call Qualcomm QSD825 Scorpion.
So, the Desire HD will should have better performance than Desire Z.
But Desire Z should have better performance than Desire(1st generation snapdragon).
You may check the CPU details at Qualcomm website.

Samsung Galaxy S2 vs HTC Sensation

HTC Sensation or Galaxy S2?
Torn between these dual core beasts.
Just a very small overview:
HTC:
Screen
Battery
Internal storage (1GB lol)
VGA Front Cam
RAM
Weight. 148 gr. Holy Moly. We should send the phone to fat ca...errr weight management retreat lol
screen resolution: qHD
HTC Sense
Galaxy:
All things HTC has red are better
The thing HTC has green
Easy decision for me.
I think Galaxy S2 is better.... at least in Korea.rep
Sent from my LU2300 using XDA Premium App
sensation is running gingerbread..
@OP, C'mon there are tons of threads to talk about this comparison use the damn search button !!
Sense vs TouchWiz if a slapped on interface matters, sense is lovely! Hardware wise SG2 wins.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
both are good phones and you cant go wrong with any. however. i believe the GS2 is better specd hardware. better GPU. better screen in terms of colors. there is no even lag in scrolling at the browser.
the only advantage you will have with the HTC if you call it an advantage is the HTC S 3.0 and i wouldnt call it an advantage.
besides. and the most important factor you need to consider. the HTC now is using a Locked bootloader. meaning you wont get custom roms for sure. and considering how the incredible S is been locked for 3 months now without any luck to open it. i would say avoid HTC phones for now
i will not even buy the HTC for 100$. locked bootloader = useless phone for me.
i learned that the hard way from the atrix. and never again.
Having a lower weight does not necessarily mean 'better'. I think build quality in terms of materials (partial reason of the higher weight) is another plus for the Sensation. On the other hand, I prefer the dimensions and shape of the S2.
Furthermore the Sensation's camera has an instant capture feature but the S2 cam has a pretty fast capture too.
Looking at all the + and - I think the S2 is the overall winner.

Very true, imagine when the sgs2 gets cm7 or darky rom!
It's blazing fast on stock!

I wouldn't want to put CM7 on that as the browser would loose any GPU acceleration and be as crappy as other dual core phone, I'll take it as it is with all the optimization from samsung included for performance and battery life

We don't know that yet, so far the benchmarks indicate that the Adreno 220 GPU inside is quicker than the Mali-400 in the Samsung, I still find it hard to believe considering the mali-400 is quad core, so maybe the benchmark is not up to date with quad-core graphics processor's.

what ???? isnt adreno 220 GPU is the same was used in Desire HD and Xperia Play ?
if so, thats more reason to avoid the Sensation. because that GPU is lower than the Nexus S GPU. let alone come close to SG2. that thing will do marathon around the Adreno 220 and that is based both trying to run Nintendo 64 Emulator at the same time same game.
hell i just hope you made a typo and you are not talking about that old horrible GPU :/

Is this thread still going on, frankly there is no competition with the SGS2, here's a brief summary:
The Galaxy S2 is out May 1st (phones4u will release on 27 Apr), it will be the king of superphones for a while yet: Most powerfull 1.2 Dual core CPU/GPU combo (yes much better than HTC Sensation), Thinnest phone in the world (8.49mm compared to the Sony Arc 8.7mm and Iphone 4 (around 9.2mm i believe), Best screen tech in the world (exclusive to Samsung - Super Amoled Plus) see below:

MHL which is micro USB/HDMI in one, and lets you control the phone through a remote of a MHL enabled tv, Wifi direct - access your phone through wifi and any browser, the list is extensive, check out the comparison to its nearest competitor that was anounced recently(the HTC Sensation):

The SGS2 is an amazing phone, 1080p recording check out the video comparison here (click the comparison tool at the bottom to compare videos with iphone 4 and Nokia N8 - also youtube has many other SGS2 1080p samples):

Just want to say : HTC Sensation also has Gorilla Glass. And NFC is not yet confirmed on all models :/...
And also
PS : I Didn't add the SoC though the Mali-400(Galaxy S2) probably is going to be a better GPU, but we can't verify for now. And Bootloader is probably not locked on Galaxy S2 but for the HTC Sensation it is quite sure.

You cannot compare the number of cores on a GPU unless it is the same architecture, it doesn't make sense at all.
A single core GPU can easily be ten times faster than quad core GPU. It is just how they choose to arrange the GPU-architecture in order to have versions with different speeds.
In fact, even a 300$ gaming card for PC's is single core.

The Unwired: HTC STARTS SOFTWARE UPDATE ROLL-OUT FOR THE HTC ONE - ADDS SUPPORT FOR HTC MINI+ AND GOOGLE KEYBOARD - 2.24.401.8
HTC has just started to roll-out a minor firmware update for the HTC One, which already hit France. According to the provided information, the v2.24.401.8 update, which only is 32 MB small, is said to add compatibility for the upcoming HTC Mini+ remote control as well as the original Google Android keyboard, which is available from the Android Google Play market as a free download. If HTC has now started to roll-out a minor firmware update, which contains support for the HTC Mini+, it shouldn't take too long anymore to see it released in Europe, even if HTC has yet not officially announced it but all we have is the::unwired's earlier observation of a software update as well as Clove's later blog post of the expected launch.

ARHD Blog: HTC One review - Part 2: Hardware
Some highlights:
The HTC One is considered by many to be the Android flagship phone of 2013, and has topped the PhoneDog Smartphone Rankings weekly since March 31st. This not only makes it one of the most successful HTC phones of all time, it also means it has been at the #1 spot for longer than even the immensely popular Apple iPhone 5.

It is a real beauty of engineering, with a sleek aluminium casing exceeding even the quality of the iPhone 5, with a superior hardness rating. The unibody polycarbonate body of the HTC One X is a thing of the past, with each individual One casing taking 200 minutes to manufacture.

When compared to the output from the Galaxy S4 or iPhone 5, the difference in quality is night and day. No phone to date can match the HTC One for sound quality. Playing for example racing games on HTC One is a really great experience. Stereo system is just amazing.

However, S600 seems to have enough power to supply, because the speed and fluidity of the HTC One is something to be admired. Every system app can be launched in under 2 seconds, and the overall experience feels very snappy. In fact, the phone feels faster than Galaxy S4, which experiences many micro lags caused by its TouchWiz custom UI. The HTC One doesn't seem to lag at all. The only instance is caused by Android: poor scrolling in some apps.

With the new Snapdragon 800 processors due to be included in phones starting September, the 600 will soon be minorly outdated, but it is still an excellent choice. Bundled with this is the Adreno 320 GPU. This is one of the best GPUs currently available, and beats the PowerVR SGX 544MP3 found in the Galaxy S4. The iPhone 5 also uses a PowerVR, and due to it’s smaller screen size and resolution, this phone will generally play games smoother than on the HTC One, however at the cost of screen size.

One of the main issues which HTC had to tackle during the designing process of the HTC One was a how to ensure the device wan't susceptible to capacitive detuning, where the human hand would stop the radio form functioning correctly. An example of this was the grip of death experienced by the iPhone 4. HTC solved this issue in a unique and clever way: the antennas tune themselves actively in order to ensure the best Standing Wave Ratio and to match impedance during the presence of a hand or case. HTC introduced a new antenna feeding structure to ensure that attenuation doesn't affect the overall antenna performance regardless of how the HTC One is held in the hand. This active antenna tuning is a first for 2013. The actual antennas HTC uses are the metal strips at the top and bottom of the device.

In conclusion, the HTC One has proven itself to be top of the Android class, and thoroughly deserves its extended period as PhoneDog #1 smartphone. The build quality is second to none, and the overall specs definitely don't fall short. On paper, the phone is a beast, but in the hand it's more of a beauty.

HTC One Simple Gaming Boost scripts - Root
While the HTC One mostly ramps up the CPU pretty well on it's own for the majority of (optimized) games, certain games still need a good old fashioned boost to the CPU governor, you can figure out these games when they fluctuate between very smooth fps and laggy for no obvious reason (like lagging in non detailed areas)
Examples of such games are Ripetide GP2, Beach Buggy Blitz, Real Racing 3 and Iron Man 3
Use the attached very simple scripts to boost your CPU quickly before you game and then unboost when you are done

HTC One Adreno 320 GPU - OC GFX Bench tests
By default the GPU is slightly underclocked at 400mhz, using custom kernels it can be easily unclocked to 450mhz (same as the stock clock on the SGS4) or go further to 487mhz
However after 450mhz there is a relation between the GPU And CPU
CPU 1728mhz, GPU 400mhz (stock 2.24.401.8)
CPU 1300mhz, GPU 450mhz
CPU 1500mhz, GPU 450mhz
CPU 1728mhz, GPU 450mhz
CPU 1728mhz, GPU 487mhz
CPU 1890mhz, GPU 487mhz
CPU 2109mhz, GPU 487mhz
18fps / 46fps are the highest GFX scores i could achieve on my HTC One
Going with higher CPU clocks and GPU 487mhz will not yield any benefit it will score the same
Interestingly going with extreme GPU clocks like 533mhz will bring performance crashing all the way down
Anfroud Authority: HTC One: How to master BlinkFeed
Conclusion
The HTC One’s BlinkFeed app is a cool feature that snugly packs
all your favorite content into one page. It is one of the big
reasons that many users love their HTC One, although, arguably,
it’s also one of the big reasons that some users shy away from
the HTC One.
While BlinkFeed is very easy to master, the app’s inability to
accommodate custom media sources frequently cause me to
believe that other similarly natured apps actually work better
and has better flexibility. Though, on the other hand, it’s this
lack of flexibility that makes BlinkFeed easy to master and easy
to use.
Lastly, while BlinkFeed may seem pervasive at first, you can
actually dismiss it from view by setting a different main
homescreen or by using a custom launcher — either of which
doesn’t remove the app from your system. For the latter, you
can take the geeky route: flash a custom ROM.
What do you think of BlinkFeed? Do you use it at all? Or, do you
prefer a different third-party app instead, and if so, what app?
Share your BlinkFeed experiences with us by sounding off in the

Update: If you download this game from your 3.x ROM with ES 3.0 drivers it will download an improved version with Anti-Aliasing and better color precision, explained in this post
HTC One, 3D Games Performance Report, Asphalt 8 (tested on 2.24.401.8)
This game runs in sub 1080p, around 720p judging from the 1:1 snaps, this game features built-in graphics settings and by default it's set to medium, which can be raised to high, the only difference between the two modes are the added gameloft style lens flare reflections and motion blur, equally medium mode suffers from some dithering and reduced precision in shaders
Performance wise, it runs well in both modes most but suffers from random fps dips, so it joins the rank of games in need of CPU governor boost, once boosted it runs extremely smooth, so make sure to use my
HTC One Simple Gaming Boost scripts - Root
If you are using stock kernel it runs extremely well with the above script until it hits the temperature threshold and throttles the GPU, to fix this you need to either disable ThermalD or use custom kernels like Faux or Elemental X
Medium - Scaled 1080p (dithering)
Medium - Scaled 1080p - Boost (no motion blur, no lens reflections)
Medium 1:1 (dithering)
High - Scaled 1080p (no dithering)
High - Scaled 1080p - Boost (+ motion blur, + lens reflections)
High - Scaled 1080p - Flares (+ motion blur, + lens reflections)
High - 1:1 (no dithering)

HTC One M8 coming soon!

The HTC One's successor packs Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 and 4MP Ultrapixel camera
HTC M8 specs show Snapdragon 800 chip and 4MP Ultrapixel camera
Reports emerged earlier this week of a device thought to be the HTC M8, the successor model to the HTC One (M7), clocking up an impressive 36,000 score in AnTuTu.
Further investigation by AnTuTu's creators has revealed that this is indeed the work of a Snapdragon 800 chip.
While the HTC 0P6B120 doesn't use the HTC M8 name directly, it does seem pretty likely that it is the rumoured device as it uses a software build labelled "htc_m8-userdebug|4.4|KRT160".
The HTC M8 now seems to have a pretty well-rounded spec sheet thanks to the work of AnTuTu's team.
The spec line-up includes Android 4.4 KitKat, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM8974AB chip with 2GB of RAM and an Adreno 330 graphics processor (GPU), 16GB of onboard storage and a 5-inch full HD 1080p display.
Also listed is a 2.1-megapixel primary camera and a 4-megapixel secondary. While no specific mention of HTC's Ultrapixel technology is made, the fact that it's rated at 4-megapixels suggests it is the very same hardware which appeared in the HTC One, which also packed optical image stabilisation (OIS).
It's a bit of a shame, as we noted in our HTC One review, the Ultrapixel tech would probably generate more impressive results were it associated with a higher megapixel rating of around 8-megapixels.
Still, HTC's implementation of the higher-rated Snapdragon chip looks to be a suitable boost all round on performance, if AnTuTu's bar charts are anything to go by.
Mysterious HTC device could be M8
The device has scored 36,532, a score to rival the LG G2 and the Sony Xperia Z1, on benchmarking software AnTuTu.
The result is higher than any other HTC-made smartphone and all we know at the moment is the model number which is HTC 0P6B120.
Blog of Mobile uploaded a screenshot of the benchmarking software result. With that kind of score its very likely the device includes a Snapdragon 800 chip meaning it must be HTC’s mightiest device.
The HTC One is now dating fast so the M8 successor must be near. Rumours still seem to point toward an early-2014 release date for the M8 and will most likely feature Android’s 4.4 KitKat OS.
@evleaks believes the M8 will have a 5-inch screen compared to the HTC One’s 4.7-inch panel.
HTC M8 Specs & Images leaked
So we already knew what HTC M8 – the successor to the HTC One – looks like. Now, thanks to @evleaks, we know more about its specs. According to them:
If they’re right, that means when HTC’s next flagship phone becomes official it’ll be the first HTC running a Snapdragon 800 chipset. But as GSMarena points out, while the specs look good now HTC could end up a “generation late”, as happened with the HTC One Max, “because Samsung is already developing its next-gen 64-bit processors for the Galaxy S5.”
Other leaked information suggests it'll launch with Android 4.4 KitKat straight out of the box along with HTC Sense 6.0, the next-generation of software which would be placed over the top of Android.
While this isn’t the first we’ve heard of the HTC M8 not much else is known about the handset. The one thing we can draw from it though, assuming that name is correct, is that it’ll be the direct successor to the HTC One flagship, which was dubbed the M7 while under development.
The images below appeared via Chinese leak source ePrice and only show the rear cover for the handset. It’s not clear whether the phone will sport a removable back panel like the HTC One Max or if it will be assembled as a sealed unit like the HTC One and HTC One Mini.
One confusing part of the design is a small round hole above the camera port. This can’t be the camera flash, as we can see a small flash port next to the main camera port. There’s no indication of what its purpose could be but it’s unlikely that it’s a fingerprint scanner as the HTC One Max featured a square design underneath the camera port.
Assuming that it’s not a fingerprint scanner it would appear HTC has ditched the digit scanning tech for its next flagship, which is just as well in our view as it was a bit naff on the One Max.
There’s been a lot of talk recently about eye scanners, particularly as Samsung is rumoured to be working on this kind of tech. Could this be what we’re looking at? Existing rumours suggest we could see a display between 5-inches and 5.2-inches, which would likely use HTC’s favourite SLCD technology and is thought to have a 2K resolution.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 quad-core chip has been fingered, which makes sense, and it’s believed HTC could pull a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 by opting for 3GB of RAM.
Quite what version of Android will be onboard is unknown but it’s either going to be 4.3 Jelly Bean or the brand new 4.4 KitKat, and it’s said there will be a new HTC Sense 6 UI overlay.
Almost as important – what the heck is it going to be called? We’ve had the HTC One, HTC One Max and HTC One Mini, but let’s not forget the old HTC One X, HTC One S, HTC One V, HTC One X+ and HTC One XL, just to take up a few more possible names. Where does that leave us? HTC Two? HTC One Plus? Your guess is as good as ours. There’s no clue as to when the HTC M8 will precisely arrive but a launch in 2014 seems a certainty.

I wonder if there will be 'Dual Sim' version like the One (M7)?
I am looking for high end dual sim phone and the One fits the bill.
I'm going to get my m8 very soon, hope that the ac version would be sold in Hong Kong, and hope there won't be any differences in software

Interesting to see how rumor articles compare to the actual device. Most interesting one I've seen is http://promech.co/the-all-new-htc-one/

Judging from past history, there will be a dual SIM version for the China market at the very least.
Also if you notice the SIM tray can be modified to support dual SIM.

I just went into my local Carphone Warehouse to look at the HTC One M8 display that they had.
It has cemented my love for HTC and the One series.
The build quality looked great from what I could see, nice screen, the body felt weighty and premium (although it was hard to hold the device properly - it was smothered with security tagging)
I installed Antutu Benchmarks and started to take a video of it, until a store assistant came over and started a conversation with me... "Can I help you?".
He then proceeded to ask me what handset I had, when he saw it was a One M7 he then told me that the M8 wasn't worth the upgrade (to my dismay, is this his sales technique? Abysmal).
He then told me that the M8 had a 16mp camera, at which point I laughed and said that it didn't - he doggedly tried to reassure me that it did, while I assured him that it didn't.
He did say that one good thing about the handset over my M7 was the fact that it was running Android 4.4.2 KitKat, which my M7 couldn't run, I then showed him my M7 running KitKat - he asked me how and I said I'd rooted it and had installed a Custom ROM, to which his reply was "a what?".
Oh and I also spoke to him about my dislike of the onscreen buttons and the bezel, again to which he replied "what?", so I had to point out to him the difference between my HTC M7 capacitive buttons in the bezel, to the M8 onscreen buttons with added bezel.
He then got what I meant when I told him that it then made the 5" screen 4.7" effective...
I love the staff in the Carphone Warehouse!

I would have just said "Yes, it does" and showed him. Wtf does rooting/custom roms have to do with having 4.4.2??

and you needed to be rooted for 4.4.2 ?????

No as the update is being released for the M7, I just happened to be rooted and have 4.4.2 installed long before the update was available for my handset.
Anyway, that's off topic, my point is that this salesman was [email protected] and didn't know anything about the beautiful HTC One M8 that he was selling.

I think you might complain about the poor signal strength and how you can't hold it without pressing the screen.

I can see the unwanted screen presses, but why would that have poor signal strength?

Exactly what I am looking for.
I have waited a little while before making my decision on what to buy to see if there will be a new HTC One (M8) version and it looks like there should be.
Would anything beat the HTC One (M8) as a dual sim phone except for maybe a potentially new HTC One Max (M8) dual sim phone.
