Freezing the OTA silent install?

Hi, I just rooted using Kindle Water and got the Android Market installed. Can I stop the next OTA update by freezing the app on my kindle using Titanium Backup?

Sorry, I am not sure but I am really interested to find this out myself. I have read a few articles today and there seems to be a few procedures but nothing where someone has said it 100% works.
There must be a consensus among the developers/experienced techies - please let us know.
Yes, I have done it, search got otacerts.zip in this forum.

So is it not as simple as flashing a custom ROM as has been made out in this thread?

Sorry not me, I would flash CM7/CM9. I don't care much for the standard ROM plus I live in the UK so wouldn't get any amazon services anyway.
I don't mean to hijack the thread but the OP hasn't stated whether he would stay standard or not.
People in another thread have just confirmed by flashing a non standard ROM I will not receive any updates

I believe that is correct, if you running a non stock ROM then Amazons OTA updates are not an issue.
Sent from my Kindle Fire using xda premium
The only ways to stay stock and prevent it are to unregistered your kindle on amazon.com, turn off wifi, or diligently check the cache folder and delete the file when it downloads. It doesn't install immediately and it won't download it again once you delete it

6.3.1 update is being pushed

Warning to all of those still running the stock Rom, amazon is pushing a new update and as usual it breaks your root.
Just got my refurby one, Left mine on my table while getting root instructions. Rebooted automatically. Should have turned wifi off. Damnit. Still got Google framework but market force closes
updated to 6.3.1 and used kindle utility to root and flash rom
Hey, anybody know what new content Amazon has included in the update?

Software update 6.3.1 "brings additional parental controls to Kindle Fire, including the ability to password-protect purchases, disable access to specific content libraries, and block access to the Silk Web browser," according to Amazon.

Hey guys I want to root(only root) my tf300
I've been reading all day that u need to unlock bootloader and some that u don't have to unlock.
Does anyone know the best and easy way to only root tf300
I read something about debugfs but haven't tried it.
If u guys have a link for the root I'll appreciate it.

Yes. You need to have a PC. It is to be done in recovery mode IIRC.
Good luck with the rooting.
Sent from my Asus TF300T
Sadly a PC is required with this method, but after reading all the root threads on here, I decided it was the easiest method and worked a treat for many
Just don't make the same error I did... don't connect the tablet to the dock and then USB on the dock to the PC, use the use charging cable supplied with the charger and connect the tablet to the PC via it, otherwise Windows wont see it...
Make sure you have the drivers installed too!
OK but how exactly u do this...I already downloaded the zip file on PC and pluged tablet...it installed drivers but last one ...says waiting for input and I got some options saying 1.locate and install driver
2.ask me again later 3. Don't show this message again
I click #1
Now what?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
It said I had to restart computer so it could update this setting...where do I unzip/run the zip file?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
Best to read the full thread I linked to, but make sure you have USB debugging enabled on the tf300 under developer options in settings...
From what I remember, I just unzipped the downloaded file to a folder, opened the folder and ran the .bat and it did the rest.
To get the correct drivers installed, I just installed Asus sync from the Asus support site, but make sure it is not running when you run the .bat.
I had the same issue, I think I installed the Android Development Kit and rebooted a couple times and it just decided to work after that. Soo, hope that helps?

Just did it, with the newest version from his skydrive account.
The only thing, I had to change USB mode from drive to camera-something in order for the ADB to detect the device..
My only reason to do it, was to get:

and I must say it's like a totally new device... Finally I can use the browser on "heavy" sites without ANR's..

If anyone needs help with this new update and rooting and 2nd bootloader stuff still, this is how I did it:
Use kindle fire first aide (available here on xda) to reset your device to stock Amazon 7.2.3. Obviously backup whatever you don't want to lose first with your preferred backup method. Make sure to also disable ota updates also before you proceed.
Once you're back to (pre rooted!) Stock, sideload the fireflash.apk (do a search on xda to find the app) use the directions on that thread to get yourself setup with a 2nd bootloader and twrp recovery in like two clicks of an app. If you can't find the thread, just let me know and I'll provide links. Just MAKE SURE you flash the 7.2.3 bootloader
That fireflash comes with before you flash the new boot.img and twrp recovery. It's such an easy method, and you can find all the tools you need via searching xda for fire flash, followed by hashcode's 2nd bootloader thread. 7.3.0 freedom boot (nevermind that your bootloader won't match, it should be 7.2.3 and freedom boot should be 7.3.0, and twrp 2.4.4.0. Make sure all your boxes are checked, flash the files AFTER YOU FLASH THE 7.2.3 BOOTLOADER!! And you should be all set. From there you can even flash newer Amazon updates if you like via twrp. feel free to contact me with any questions, and major shout outs to the devs who made these apps and programs available to us.
P.S make sure you read the instructions for fireflash.apk on its page so you're familiar. This way always works for me to get around anything Amazon, but you do of course run risks when altering stock software. I highly recommend buying a fast-boot(factory) cable just to make sure you can always restore stock using KFFA if something goes wrong. I got mine from xda member SkOrPn, and I fully suggest if you don't own one get one first. Better safe than stuck waiting 3 days on a cable to save you!
Sent from my cm10.1 KFHD
see my previous post
Here are all the files.actually steps: KFFA to revert to 7.2.3, sideload fireflash and get it opened. You will see a red warning message that you have the wrong bootloader. Flash the one they offer. Reboot kindle (I do, May not be necessary). Load the other files onto your kindle, freedom boot and twrp. Open fireflash again, and match up boot.img and twrp where they obviously go in fireflash, flash the files, and boot into recovery :good: good luck! Hope this helps anyone in that boat
Whenever I attempt to restore the update to a previous version in KFFAide the command window stays at "daemon started successfully" and does not progress beyond that point. Any advice? This happens for any option I choose in KFFAide.
I actually have not tried updating KFFA since I installed it originally, so I can't say what the problem might be. I suggest posting on the first aide thread with your question, and looking for similar posts with solutions over there. The community on here is wonderful, and I'm sure you can find a fix on there it you try
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096888
I hope you find the answers you seek
Have you tried fire first aide to root that's what I use and it works
