[Modems] Modem files for CWM and Odin - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hello friends,
as some of you will know, modem is that part of rom which is responsible for network communications. When people install custom roms, they are stuck on the modems which are included in the roms and i've seen many people asking how to change the modem to their locale. Below is the list of some modem files. I'll try to update the list as much as I can. Instructions on how to install will also follow soon.
Post 1- List of Modem files by country, version number and release date. You can decide what modem is best for you.
Post 2- Links of CWM flashable modem files.
Post 3- Links of Odin flashable modem files.
Post 4- Instructions on how to flash (both CWM and Odin)

I'm trying to CWM flash DDJV7 on my old I9000 after a clean install of the latest CM11 snapshot & it failed, though the status was 0.
Just wanted to know if it's compatible with this CM version before I try to mess more with it?
If it is compatible, I'll try & capture a log of the failure next time I try it.
Current baseband is XXJVT which is the default from that ROM but I'm facing call drop & disconnection issues on long calls with this modem.
Wanted to try out DDJV7 since that was the last that Samsung provided for India on the I9000.
Understand that this is a very old thread but my issue is relevant to this thread to trying here 1st.
Thanks!

No, these files are old and were meant for cm 9, etc. CM11 is quiet different.

It worked! I dirty-flashed the .zip & it installed successfully.
The immediate change I observed was the stable full signal bars with signal fluctuations around -75dBm (screenshots attached).
With XXJVT the signal used to fluctuate a lot & around 85 - 90 dBm, sometimes remaining above -100 dBm.
So prima facie it looks like a definite improvement in the past 2 days. Will keep observing & report back in the next 3 - 4 weeks including call quality & battery performance (not much info available about DDJV7 it seems).
Also planning to do a clean install of everything this week (hopefully) & see how it goes (with a "de-bloated" CM11).

[REF] [RADIO] OnePlus One Modem Collection

Background
This is a list of radios for the OnePlus One (bacon). With the new OTA release, some people may have better signals with the old radio or want to tinker with the new one so here is a list that will be updated to allow users to switch to their preferred radio/modem.
Radios are independent of Android version, use the radio that provides you the best signal. It varies from user to user, there is no best radio/modem Why? Different carriers, different locations, and more. There are so many factors that play into cellular signal so just because a particular radio is the best for someone doesn't mean its the best for you. We can obtain a consensus on which radio performs the "best" for the largest % of users though.
However, see @Vonnegut 's experiences here on modems.
How to Flash?
Simply flash the .zip below in your preferred recovery. If you prefer flashing via fastboot, extract the .bin file out of the .zip file and flash it by typing,
Code:
fastboot flash modem <name-of-modem>.bin
The MD5 hashes for the files below are MD5 hashes of the zips and not the radio image themselves.

thanks, great
thank you this is a good thread with direct collection just out of curiosity , are there any improvements ? I don't have any issues with call etc. do you think its good idea to update to latest ? currently on mahdi rom latest build..
This is great thanks.
How would I know which modem I am using now ? In case I want to revert to stock ?
Is one of these the original stock one ?
Am on mahdi 0823 stock modem that came with the phone.
Thanks in advance

You can check the phone info for baseband version. Thats the modem. But remember the stock cm11s modems use the same name. So i would ask the dev of the rom (in this case mahdi rom) , or you can check the modem in your rom.zip and compare checksums to find the same.
But you dont even need to bother with these. Just keep a backup of your rom.zip, it has a modem, its probably called NON-HLOS.bin, you can flash it through fastboot anytime, with the command stated in the OP:
fastboot flash modem <filename>.bin

You'll just have to use your own judgment and keep track of what radio you're on. Theres no way to distinguish because CyanogenInc / OnePlus thought it was a good idea to be doing baseband/radio changes while keeping the same version. Which in my opinion, I believe is a bad practice because then users will not remember what radio they're on if they're using radios other than the latest.
Mahdi ROM does not include a radio in their flashable zip.

I can't really answer that question for you as I don't live in your area. For instance, I'm in New York City, if I get the best performance using the XNPH30O radio (just saying as a example) it doesn't meant that you will get the same performance because you're in California (as an example) on AT&T. In my post I explained it, there is no best modem/radio. You will have to just flash it, use it for a couple days (or 1 day) and conclude it for yourself. I'm hoping that people will be more active in this thread and personally lay out their opinions on what is the best radio for them as well as include their location so people can get a general idea/consensus on the most popular radio/modem.
Ask yourself the questions.
- How is my battery life? Did it improve or did it worsen due to a weaker/stronger signal?
- Am I getting dropped connections?
... etc

Its weird because I get better idle time when I'm on cell data than having airplane mode on. Probably because the phone continues to work on finding signal when its in airplane, probably a bug. xD

I guess you could also add radios from CM Snapshoots like M8 and M9, 'coz for example there are people that run better with those than CM11s ones.
personally running M9 radio (of course bacon one ), and for me as well Snapshot radio is better.
btw, the is a thread on this (fixing connectivity issues by using CM11 M# radios and not CM11S.
but never the less the idea is good to gather all here.
Sent from my bacon.
OP. I can make a flashable zip file of these pm if interested

Yeah, I'm using the m9 radio on my Chinese OPO running cm11s and u get stable signal, stable data and stable calls.
As a side note, does anyone know if updating cm11s via OTAs will overwrite the flashed M9 modem?

It will override as the OTA includes a radio in there. For some reason, I can't upload to AndroidFileHost right this second. I've contacted them.

That is so strange. I haven't noticed any differences between the M9 radio and the radio that came with the latest CM11S OTA (33R I think). Maybe they use the same one?

Sometimes the basebands are close enough that you don't notice a difference. Thats why originally I didn't want to include the snapshot radios but /shrug.. someone suggested it so I went for it. Its hard to tell whether or not there is a difference since its closed source and that the baseband version is the same.
More or less, I would personally follow the OTA basebands. The only time, I'd look into the snapshot is if M10 gets released tonight and its the newest radio, but once the next OTA comes out. I'd stick with the OTA basebands.
Although on other phones, the same thing could be said. Two radios could have the same results as well.

Only reason I flashed the M9 modem in the first place was because I got the chinese OPO and people were reporting issues with 3G and dropped calls with it. But now I'm gonna stick to whatever the OTAs use and only flash nightly radios if I notice any issues with the OTA radios. This thread is still great for quick access to said modems tho', so thanks for that.
Thanks for the kind words. The thread will remain updated as the new radios come about
Nice thread much needed one.? Anyone from India Airtel network here using the latest radio what is your feedback? Which radio do you feel is working great with the Indian network?
I am on the latest radio that came with the OTA of cm11s. But from the last radio also I had issues of signal drops w when I switch it to 3G it's not as great as the 2G signals which is very strong feel on my device.
It would be nice to know any Indian users feedback on this topic.
Thanks for this thread.

[Q] Possible issue with LG G2 ( vs980 variant )

Since I can't find the answer I decided I'd post here in hopes that someone might know what's going on.
Which bootstack / modem is OMNI built for? 12b? 24a? 25b? 26a?
As I'm currently on the 25b bootstack and have no issues installing CM / PA / Liquid
but if I attempt to install OMNI , nothing happens. Does not run.
1. did I wipe all partitions correctly? yes
2. did I check the md5 sum? yes
3. am I using the current nightly? yes ( and the previous 3 nightlies all give me the same result )
I'd like to give this rom a try , but given that it refuses to run , I'm a little sad
if this question was in fact already answered, I apologize , my search-fu was not up to snuff.

Jake is currently working on a major rebase to be compatible with 4.4 bootloaders/basebands.
The reason it has taken so long is that 4.4 bootloaders/basebands require LG's 4.4 kernel source, and LG's 4.4 kernel source had LOTS of problems with somehow causing permanent unrecoverable screen damage on various devices.

[STOCK][FIRMWARE] Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 - All Variants

Hi everybody,
The Idol 3 community defenitly lack developper supports. How can developpement begin without stock dumps and ramdisk ?
We have he very great index made by @DallasCZ here.
To make a dump, all we need is an uploaded TWRP Backup of your firmware. Here is what I got so far
6045Y - Android 5.0.2 - LRX22G
6045Y_05_LRX22G.tar.xz
6045Y_05_LRX22G_RAMDISK.tar.xz
6045Y_06_LRX22G.tar.xz
6045Y_06_LRX22G_RAMDISK.tar.xz
I hope that some of you will help me complete this thread with the other firmwares, for the other variants...
Cheers

As the directions in the thread indicate and as I have stated, they are TWRP backups from each of the models which is what you ASKED for in post #1. No they are not flashable zip's because alcatel has never released any flashable zips that were not just a bunch of patches.

And that's also why this thread is made for.

If you want to revert to Stock ROM for your 6039Y you can use the program "Mobile Upgrade Q". This is software released by TCL (the manufacturer of Alcatel phones). This software wipes the internal memory of your phone and downloads and installs the latest stock firmware including stock recovery.
Latest version of Mobile Upgrade Q is 4.9.2. Download link can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/idol-3/general/idol-3-mobile-upgrade-app-download-t3182517
Notes:
1) Mobile Upgrade Q completely wipes the internal memory of your phone (including internal SD-Card called sdcard0). After using this program your phone is reset to factory default settings (as bought new in the box) and you need to set it up from scratch. So before using this program make a backup of information / files you want to keep.
2) Downloading the stock firmware from the server can take a long time, because the server that is used by TCL has only limited bandwidth. Last time that I used this program the download speed was only something like 20kB/s and it took more than 6 hours before the firmware was downloaded.

Need Help Rooting (solved)

Hello XDA,
I have been using Samsung phones all my life , Rooted (odin) a lotta phones installed countless custom roms and finally i thought its time for pure android experience . I bought a moto g4 plus from a friend of mine and have been going through the g4 + forum for 2 days now . I have not got the slightest of idea how you root / install custom rom on this device . Its so different from how you do it on a Samsung device so finally I have decided to ask for your help .
Info I would like to share :
1.The boot loader is locked
2.The device is a XT1643
3. 3 GB / 32 GB
4. December 1 , 2017 security patch
5. NPJS25.93-14-13
6. There was a OTA update when I received the phone which I didn't update
As mentioned earlier It looks like I am a complete noob when it comes to this device and I would need all the possible help I can get .
If anybody would be kind enough to guide me through this initial learning phase I will be very grateful and would even share my whisky ( which I usually don't do )
If you need any more information please ask
Thanks and Regards

Hello Mate
As mentioned above I have been searching the forum for almost 2 days before I thought of asking for help . I did go through the thread( that you have mentioned ) earlier today but it looks a bit old to me . The link on how to flash twrp comes back with a 404 error . The last few posts are helpful (as it deals with the same build) but again as am new to the particular device It would be helpful if someone could give me a noob friendly procedure . I am not here to break the rules just trying to learn without bricking my device
Thanks and Regards

Flashing TWRP:
>>> Flashing TWRP or Rooting will void your warranty. Please ask anything before doing, if your not fully confident on what to be done. <<<
Get the TWRP image file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...p-twrp-3-0-2-2-recovery-moto-g4-plus-t3386586
Next, get the adb and mfastboot from https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5jlU9JnLAZGbVU0UzJ3N3p4X2M/view?usp=sharing
Unzip the file and place the image file inside the extracted folder.
Reboot to Bootloader (power off, then press the power and volume down buttons simultaneously).
Open a new command prompt or terminal window and do the following:
Code:
mfastboot flash recovery twrp_*version*_athene.img

Sorry for being so short earlier. We have quite a few members here who constantly post issues without using the search function.
You can try to post I quoted above to flash TWRP. It's fairly straight forward.
Are you planning on flashing a Nougat ROM or are you going the adventurous route and flashing an Oreo ROM? The TWRP version mentioned in the quoted post should be fine for flashing Nougat and 32-bit based Oreo ROMs, but you'll need 64-bit TWRP for 64-bit Oreo ROMs.
Use this as a reference for 32-bit and 64-bit Oreo ROMs: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/oreo-roms-table-t3717226
64-bit TWRP: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...recovery-twrp-3-2-1-unofficial-touch-t3722206
Once you've flashed TWRP, you can either flash different versions through TWRP itself or through the Play Store app.
As far as ROMs, I'd recommend Official Lineage OS 14.1 for Nougat: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/development/rom-cyanogenmod-14-1-t3522101
And I'd recommend Official AICP 13.1 for Oreo: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...om-aicp-13-1-o-8-1-0-official-weekly-t3731269 (You'll need to download the 20180212 build since most recent builds either have a broken camera or won't boot.)
Any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

@Ragarianok
I am going to try the Oreo builds as I have never got a chance to try it on my previous devices so I guess I will be using a 64bit version of twrp.
This is what am planning to do :
1. Unlock the bootloader
2. Flash an official version of TWRP
2.a Take a backup
3. Flash a custom kernel through twrp
4. Flash Super Su / Magisk
5. Flash a 64 bit version of twrp using TWRP
6. Flash a custom ROM
Please correct me if I am wrong
Thanks a lot for the detailed guide

If you want 64bit Oreo roms it's a little bit different
1. Unlock the bootloader
2. Flash a 64 bit version of twrp
2.a Take a backup and safe it off your phone
3. Flash a Oreo 64bit custom ROM
3.a flash gapps package arm64 (8.0 or 8.1 depending on rom version)
4. Flash magisk 15.3
If you want to root the stock nougat rom steps 1-4 of your list are correct.

Not quite. You'll want to go in this order:
1. Unlock bootloader
2. Flash TWRP
3. Backup
4. Wipe (Wipe/Advanced Wipe; ART/Dalvik, System, Data, Cache)
5. Flash ROM
6. Flash Gapps
7. Reboot
8. Go through setup wizard and let everything settle for ~10 minutes
9. Boot into TWRP and flash SuperSU or Magisk (I would suggest Magisk), then flash kernel and reboot
You'll need to flash the unofficial 64-bit TWRP mentioned in my previous post to flash a 64-bit Oreo ROM, otherwise you'll get an error message when flashing ROM.
You'll also need to use unofficial Gapps since there aren't any official Gapps for 8.1 just yet. I'd recommend either mini or micro here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/unofficial-opengapps-8-1/files/arm64/20180225/
You should be able to flash the most recent Magisk located here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/beta-magisk-v13-0-0980cb6-t3618589
If you do flash a custom kernel, I'd highly suggest Frostbitten: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...s-frostbitten-kernel-moto-g4-g4-plus-t3649155

If it was an OTA update, it looks likely to be more the February 2018 security patch rather than the January 2018 patch.

That is true, however for our devices we have generally been issued the same security patch level regardless of region. It may be different builds for particular regions (e.g NPJS25.93-14-13 for India, Brazil and EU, and NPJ25.93-14.7-3 for US) but they are both the December 2017 security patch.
Regardless, we've still yet to see an OTA newer than December.

Evening ,
Thanks For all the support i finally rooted MY phone
But
I ran into a bit of a problem " Sim Cards Not Detecting "
This is What i did
1. Unlocked My bootloader
2. flashed twrp-3.1.1-athene_shreps
3. Took a backup of everything
4. flashed ElementalX-G4-2.00.zip
5. flashed Magisk 16.0
reboot : No sim cards detected
After which I flashed lineage-14.1-20180219-nightly-athene-signed.zip and the gapps provided
experienced the same error again .
uninstalled magisk and flashed the latest Super Su (V2.82) with no positive results
not sure what went wrong ...is there any way out of it ?

First, I'm a little confused about the fact that you flashed that version of TWRP instead of the one located here: https://dl.twrp.me/athene/
Second, I've never had that happen when flashing, so I'm not really sure what to recommend. If I had to guess, I would say the best route would be to restore your backup and see if the SIM is detected.
I have found at least one thread with a similar issue; might be worth a look: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/fix-sim-card-issue-t3751679
Let us know what happens.

Is it okey if I flash the twrp that you have mentioned over the existing twrp?
Thanks and regards

Edit : I have restored my backup but still the same issue.
Edit : flashed the official TWRP . still the same results
EDIT : After 3 hours + Countless reboots the issue solved on its own ... I am not sure what really happened.. lol

h910(?) : lineageos crash when going to an area with no signal : alternative kernel ?

Hey folks,
Just got an h910 v10l from aliexpress (quite cheap, looked brand new, see note below)
Rooted it, installed full v10r from the forum (and also super rom on v10v, very happy with it except for a slowness issue, see note below)
I tried various lineageos roms (14.1 official, 14.1 x86cpu, 15.1 second screen by phr00t, 15.1 unofficial no second screen) but they all gave me a crash
(kernel panic, see image attached below : it says "Kernel panic - not syncing: susbsy-restart: Resetting the SoC - modem crashed")
when I go to an area with no phone signal ...
... can anyone help me ?? maybe there is an alternative kernel that would work ?????
(not having this issue with the stock(?) v10l kernel that came with the phone or the mk2000 kernels that are in the v10r or the super rom)
Thanks folks for any help !!!
Additional Notes :
1) I have some doubts if my phone is a real h910 as lgup said "unknown model" (but in the "connexion" it said "h910") and so didn't want to start ... maybe someone could help me with that ??
2) my super rom is very nice but it's kind of slow when installing an app ... looks like it's slow when writing to the mass storage ... otherwise it's fast ... in comparison the lineageos roms I tried were always super fast :good:... I think I am going to write more on that ... in the mean time maybe someone could help me with that ?? thanks
Edit 07/09/2018, answer from https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77549768&postcount=2081 :
"I've also had the modem crashing quite often, and it happened more frequently over time. At last I didn't know what to to, so I thought why not use KDZWriter to reflash the modem? Well for me that worked, but after three months I started getting these panics again, so just used KDZWriter and it worked again."
=> the problem is that I don't really know where I could get a working modem software (I believe my modem firmware is at least from the v10r rom I installed ...) any help on this maybe ??? thanks !
Edit 07/09/2018-2, from https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76877050&postcount=1092 :
"eh, somehow i fixed the kernel crashing by flashing modem.img file from Alpha Rom 2.0 package (i think it's 10U based) "
(adityajiwap has an h910 also )
Edit 23/09/2018 : here is the firmware from adityajiwap : https://forum.xda-developers.com/v2...5-1-lg-v20-t3775689/post77597800#post77597800
I tested it on RR and it was working but I was disappointed by my screen colors (kind of yellowish/brownish/darkish hue) and went back to Alpha ROM (I didn t know that I could use KCAL color settings with Gamma Kernel at that time) before I had time to test it in some place with no signal ...
Edit 9/10/2018 : similar issue on reddit : https://www.reddit.com/r/lgv20/comments/9i7igk/issues_running_resurrectionremix_on_h910/

Your problem started when you flashed los, so you should discuss your problems in the lineage threads and not all over the v20 forums in multiple posts
Sent from my LG-H910 using XDA Labs
I can confirm this happens on my AT&T V20 h910 with any of the latest LOS ROMs (RR, RR SS, LOS, and LOS SS) and gamma kernel builds. It only happens in areas where coverage is poor in LTE and I see the status bar switching between LTE band 12 and 4 as the LTE flashes from LTE <-> LTE+. I can confirm it is LTE bands 12 and 4 as LTE discovery shows alternating bands before the kernel panic and modem crash. This only happens with LTE, as using network mode GSM/WCDMA auto (2G/3G) shows no crashes until LTE is enabled.
This appears to have happened sometime after the September builds, but can't say for sure as I was running flashed US99610f firmware, and went back to H91510e -> dirtysanta -> H91010r in hopes of fixing the IR blaster (just needed to set anymote to "use alernate IR commands" smh). I couldn't go back to using US99610f as it kept bootlooping after "Android System Android is Updating" notification. This panic doesn't happen on US99610f or H91510e or H91520a. I made my own H91010v firmware zip from dumps and it didn't help with the modem crashes. Using a H91020h stock oreo ROM let me unable to use fingerprints so I didn't test any further.
Now I have flashed the modem in this recommended zip 4 times through fastboot to make sure it sticks:

From the looks, the modem seems to come from a VS995 variant as the Baseband Version is "-00053-M8996FAAAANAZM-1.121063.1" cut off due to length, likely "MPSS.TH.2.0.1.c3-00053-M8996FAAAANAZM-1.121063.1". A google search led me to a gsmhosting log mentioning it as VS995 firmware VS9951AA (LG.com shows this as from February 2018).
AT&T never seems to have released version MPSS.TH.2.0.1.c3-00053 at all with any update.
H910 10l-10m: MPSS.TH.2.0.1.c3-00011-M8996FAAAANAZM-1
H910 10p-10u: MPSS.TH.2.0.1.c3-00045-M8996FAAAANAZM-1
H910 10v: MPSS.TH.2.0.1.c3-00045-M8996FAAAANAZM-1.145041.1.149166.1
H910 20g: MPSS.TH.2.0.1.c3-00058-M8996FAAAANAZM-1.155473.1.156374.2
H910 20h: MPSS.TH.2.0.1.c3-00058-M8996FAAAANAZM-1.156374.2.165514.1
I will report back on my findings with this issue... it usually crashes for me daily as I frequently lose LTE coverage, and this seems to trigger the modem crash & kernel panic.

Is your phone running OK now with the "recommanded" zip firmware file ????
I am still on Alpha Rom 3.0 and I am "itching" to go Resurrection Remix Second Screen with Gamma Kernel but I still haven't dared because of this modem crash issue ...
Thank you again if you can answer

Yes, my phone is now running fine without bootloops whenever I lose LTE coverage. Now it properly falls back to 3G, 2G, Emergency Calls Only, or No Service. I forgot to test if LTE bands 12 or 17 work, they might not since this appears to be a Verizon VS995 modem. You can try testing with LTE Discovery and using the crowd-source option, and look back at the logs after a while.
