[Q] What different between HTML on browser and HTML on FirefoxOS - Firefox OS General

Can firefoxOS run with Javascript (include ajex and JQuery),CSS or another Language?
Can it work like Browser?
Sorry for my bad english.

Firefox OS will use HTML5 as standard API.
If you want to read more, follow this link: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefoxos/

There's no a native languaje of FirefoxOS to develop apps, but it doesn't means that runs everything. Let me show you a table:
App Made in | Runs native in the phone | With What works? | Works offline in the phone?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HTML5 | Yes, hosted or not hosted | Javascript, CSS | Yes with appcache
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DJango | No, only hosted | If it's build as a webapp | Yes with appcache
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ruby | No, only hosted | If it's build as a webapp | Yes with appcache
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Other | No, only hosted | If it's build as a webapp | Possible with appcache
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, you can make an App in Jquery Mobile, and it is going to runs good and as a native app in FirefoxOS, However you can run other Webappps make in other languages like Ruby, Django and others but not native, because it need dependencies in the phone and some software that FirefoxOS Developers are not going to add.

Cooking a hw6915 WM6.1 ROM

Hi all,
I notice that nobody has made it possible to update the hw6915 to Windows Mobile 6.1. Is there any reason for this apart from a lack of people to do it?
If not I'd like to try doing it myself, since I know there is a lot of interest and have a lot of experience of messing with embedded firmware, for example on the Sony PSP.
Can anyone give me some pointers on how to begin? How do I dump the ROM currently on my device, for example? And how does one "merge" WM 6.1 into the ROM? Surely there is an OEM release of WM 6.1 that contains some common core which must be put into the cooked ROM.
Many thanks
EDIT: I have found a ROM dumper called grab_it. Is this suitable?
hw6915 upgrade to WM 6.1
Hello pal,
Yes, indeed, nobody has upgraded the hw6915 to WM 6.1 from what I am seeing on this forum, and this section especially.
I am really interested on upgrading my device but my knowledge on this kind of devices is just limited - although I am trying to "catch" the info's.
If you need some help - again, with my limited knowledge - please feel free to ask.
About grab_it, from what I had read on this section, there are many versions of that program so I don't know which is suitable for hw6915's ROM dump.
Regards.
FYI:the standard method to dump ROM is to use pdocread while connected activesync
Thanks for both replies. I have managed to make a dump using the 128mb version of grab_it but it is exactly 128mb... so I'm guessing there'll be a lot of 0x00 at the end of the file :/
I'm gonna try to use pdocread now..
OK, after having to hard reset my device (lol, the USB connect wouldn't work because all the scheduled tasks are corrupted), I have dumped the ROM using pdocread.
What is interesting is that the listing contained the following:
63.94M (0x3ff0000) TrueFFS
| 3.06M (0x30fc00) Part00
| 3.19M (0x330000) Part01
| 56.75M (0x38c0000) Part02
51.22M (0x3337e00) TRUEFFS
| 3.06M (0x30fc00) Part00
| 3.19M (0x330000) Part01
| 56.75M (0x38c0000) Part02
Click to collapse
But after dumping the two devices, their contents were an exact MD5 match. The "51.22MB" label is also certainly wrong. However I have now obtained the 3 files part00, part01 and part02 in RAW format.
Could anyone recommend a tool for examining these files?
Hope to see 6.1 Rom.
I love the design of 6915. Very classic
Not possible
I have attempted this numerous times, there are many threads about this inlcuding the one I started with alot of information concerning this. Several of us on here have worked on this issue, the fact remains we need alot more help.
Any news??
love to test
hey i would to love to beta test it for you. i have a 6945 which is very similar to the 6915
Hmm.. still interested in this, but I haven't a clue where to start.
I want be a beta tester

CyaSSL SSL Provider for Android Released – Alpha Version

Hi,
yaSSL has released an Alpha of the CyaSSL Java SSL Provider for the Android Platform. This can be installed alongside the existing Apache Harmony provider and can be used through the javax.net.ssl Java API package. By using this provider, Java developers can use familiar syntax and API calls of Java to gain the speed and size advantages that the CyaSSL embedded SSL library offers. By using CyaSSL on Android, you can reduce the overall image footprint by 500k to 600k.
Being in the Alpha stage, this provider currently only offers client functionality. If you want to give this provider a try, please download it from the yaSSL website.
www [dot] yassl [dot] com
Instructions for installation into the Android Platform can be found in the README file included with the download. We look forward to your feedback! Please keep in mind that this is an alpha release. Please contact yaSSL at info (at) yassl (dot) com if you need support.

thank you for the link fire-warrior, but I'm actually looking for the Windows Mobile 6.5.3 update for the Xperia X2 which I believe is called MR2.
data from my x2:
442.75M (0x1bac0000) DSK1:
| 3.25M (0x340000) Part00
| 90.75M (0x5ac0000) Part01
| 128.00M (0x8000000) Part02
| 220.63M (0xdca0000) Part03
and i have dumped part02 as you want
http://www.multiupload.com/TGUQOLBZHX
but may i ask a question .... why do you need these files?
That's awesome, thank you so much.
From the sizes, I think I might actually need part03.raw. 220MB seems about the right size for an IMGFS.

There are not that many official releases of WM 6.5.3, mostly leaks and such. I would like to see the release for the X2 to see if there is anything I can use for my own ROM.

Hi fire-warrior, could I possibly bother you for a copy of Part03? It seems Part02 didn't have the IMGFS.
Thanks,

New templating system for Android phone UI – concise, native and dynamic

Hi guys,
Slate templates (beta) is a templating system for developing both Android and Windows phone native UIs using a modern templating system. It offers the following features:
1. concise syntax ( 40% - 60% smaller than xml )
2. similarity to html and css ( generating native controls )
3. cross platform
4. support for dynamically loading templates ( e.g. from your server )
It has separate engines for each platform – Android, Windows.
Website Link: slatetemplates.com
Wiki help Link: github.com/kishorereddy/slate-templates/wiki
Download the sample app (slate_beta.zip) from the website and customize “slate_sample2.txt” in assets folder.
Using this templating engine, we have developed a beta version of Android app - Slate calendar.
Link: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.codehelixsolutions.slatecalendar
Appreciate if you could try it out, suggest any specific missing features, and give any constructive feedback for the templating engine.
