Suggestions for screen protectors available in/to Australia? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I just ordered my Nexus 4 yesterday and I am not having a lot of luck finding a good screen protector. Every brand thrown at me has only got 3 out of 5 star reviews or less.
I will not use my N4 without a good protector, so it would be really appreciated if someone could point me in the right direction. Some protectors I looked at but didn't have the best of reviews are Spigen, Zagg and Skinomi. All these come from the US, but can be posted to Australia for under 20 bucks.
Any other suggestions?

Which Screen Protector?

Any thoughts on the best screen protector for an Arcos 101? Ive just ordered my Archos and I understand they don't come with a protector so would like to get something bfore it arrives. Are there better ones than others, or will a cheap one from ebay surfice?

I have generally used Zagg's invisible shield series. I ordered a skinomi for my 101 and did not like it. So I order a Zagg.
Thanks for that. Do you use adhesive or non adhesive based. I have seen an EXiM one for about $9.00. Not sure if thats a good price or not.

Nexus 4 rear protector recommendations?

After having mine for one day and really enjoying it, there are already two hairline scratches on the back, I'm fairly one of them (about 1mm long under the G under "LG") came with the phone, and the other I have no idea, as most people I've baby'd the device since I opened the packaging so there's something going on.
Regardless, it isn't really an issue but I'd like to get a rear protector to potentially stop further hairline scratches, does anyone have any recommendations as the Spigen dual protector has some awful reviews.
Cheers :good:.
Exact Armor
I spent about $7.95 for an Exact Armor case. Its not huge but has enough soft and hard protection where the back would be reasonably well protected. Any case like it would work, but its price sold me.:victory:
Spigen sgp steinheil screen protector for front and back. I love it!

Is there a screen protector that fits and has cutouts

I've bought several from ebay and Amazon, but all are deficient in some ways
I'm still looking for a screen protector that is the correct size, has all the cutouts and stays on for at least 2 months. I don't want an "Invisible shield", as I found them to be too thick, and still got scratched, and they reneged on their "lifetime" warranty, last time I tried to claim.
There are plenty for iphones, galaxy's.
I'm in England, so either Amazon or ebay, that sells internationally.
Best Skins Ever
Skinomi. Mine fits well. It has all of the cut outs. It has been in place for a month without any issues.
Give them a shot.

I myself have ordered the Clarivue ones 2 for 20 dollars they ship to the UK as well and offer both front and back protectors. Saw some pictures of it on the net and they seem good.
I myself got some cheap eBay ones but they don't stick to the edge and lift up on my cases.
Little mini review here:

These are the best screen protectors you can buy for the Nexus 4:
http://www.spigen.com/google-nexus-4-screen-protector-steinheil.html
They include a proper cut-out and I can't even tell I'm using a screen protector

I'm using these. They fit nice and hace cut-outs. Nexus 4 Screen Protector Steinheil Dual
The skin that best matches what your looking for is BestSkinsEver. However, I love my SkinomiTech Skin and their customer service is awesome. Its a little bit thick though which I do not have any problem with.
Spigen is the best one especially when you're talking about the back.

I've just left on the factory fitted one and put some extra protection over the camera lens, then I use a white TPU case
Works for me
I have tried 4 different screen protectors and what has worked best for me is the Skinomi Techskin screen protectors. Pretty happy with it as it has all the cutouts and covers the whole screen.

If you are looking for something affordable and great quality try the Xtreme guard. Got front and back protectors for just $4.00. Their customer service is great too. I will most likely get screen protectors from them in the future for other devices.

I found that Xtremeguard was cheap for a reason. The screen protector has a rubber texture and does not feel good when using the device. I'd recommend dry applications as they would feel better.
Spigen has quite the short sides; it will not cover all. Even with a perfect fit, a diztronic case cannot lip over to meet the screen protector. I also think Martin Fields would make great screen protector, although expensive.

The OP is looking for screen protector that has a perfect fit. Only wet application protectors will satisfy this criteria.
The dry app ones will not cover the curves on the front of the phone.
I'd suggest you to go with skinomi or bse. You wont be disappointed.
I guess like many things- cars, steaks, women, computers - cheap and good rarely go together.
I'll try some of these suggestions.

Matte BACK screen protector?

I'm using the Poetic Bumper case with no screen protector for the phone, but the back gets lots of finger print/grease. I've looked on ebay, Amazon, Google for a matte anti finger print screen protector for the back with no luck. Wondering if anyone found something like that and can point me to the place to get it, thanks.
Looking for the same thing!
3M has a line called Vikuiti. Here's a list of all the types of screen protector plastic they have.
http://www.bedifol.com/products/screen-protectors/vikuiti-adqc27-2.html#details
Looks like you're after the DQCM30 line.
Here's the matte back protector for the N4.
http://www.amazon.ca/Vikuiti-hard-coated-dirt-repellent-anti-reflective-residue-free/dp/B00AGVW4M0
Or on eBay.
http://item.mobileweb.ebay.ca/viewitem?itemId=221175987033&index=1&nav=SEARCH&nid=00510503764
If you search there are 3 packs available too.
Edit: I forgot to add that I haven't ordered the DQCM30 but I have ordered the CV8 and ADQC27. Using the CV8 on the back but haven't tried the ADQC27 yet. The CV8 is a tough install but the adhesive is amazing.

Thanks for the info, from the site it seems to be a matte back for the N4. Pretty steep price though for just 1, 9 Euros including shipping, about $12.50.
Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative for people in the States?
Bump. Interested in this as well.

[Q] Any recommendations on Case/Screen Protectors for me and my wife?

My wife and I have two different needs with our incoming Nexus 4's (shipped today! )
She needs something beefy. She will drop it, and she'll drop it while out riding a horse. If at all possible, water resistant would be a huge plus. I'm currently thinking the Ionic GUARDIAN Armor Case or the Ballistic (which is unfortunately currently out of stock). She has an Otterbox now for her Galaxy Nexus and loves it, but I don't see anything for the N4 on their site. The armor would be perfect.
On the other side of things is me, I need something to prevent the occasional drop, but still fits nicely into a suit jacket without looking like I'm carrying an old school nokia. I have no idea - Ringke Fusion maybe?
Any help you all could give, and screen protectors that are friendly, which be much appreciated
I'd say for you I'd recommend the poetic borderline bumper with some bestskinsever bumper optimized skins for the front and back. I made the mistake of grabbing the xtremeguard protectors to get with the bumper and it was quite a chore getting the bumper on without the protector peeling. I absolutely love the poetic bumper, it's just as nice as the official for about a third of the cost, and comes with a 3 year warranty.
As for your wife, I dunno I haven't really dealt with heavy duty cases. Wish I could be more help there.

Thanks, I appreciate the input!
OtterBox won't be making any cases for the Nexus 4. Your best bet for a Ballistic, if they are out of stock is on Ebay. That's where I got mine, but the seller is now out of stock. Several others are selling them, so you can try one of them. I'm very happy with the case and am confident it could survive a fall if it occurred.
On screen protectors, HALO is getting pretty good reviews in the Halo HD thread.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2132886. They're inexpensive compared to the more well known brands, but seem to be comparable. I have a Matte version and am happy with it.
There are lots of options for slim cases, but keep in mind many only protect the sides and back, so if drop your phone and it happens to hit the top or bottom, you may crack your screen despite having a case on it.
Good luck and let us know what you decide on.
I've never used the Ballistic with a Nexus 4, but I've used it with my iPhone and HTC Sensation phone. I'd say go with the Ballistic case if you want full protection. For the screen protector, I'm still looking for a good one myself but I think the XOskin one is good.
Can't make a recommendation for your wife, however for you, I LOVE my Seidio Active case. Protects all sides + back and special protection on the corners. Only adds 2.2mm.

A ton of fantastic replies, thanks all
That seidio looks slick, I think I'm going to have to give that a shot for me!
I wanted to get the ballistic for her, but its out of stock... so I picked up the Ionic Guardian for now, and am on the list for when the ballistic is available again on Amazon. Those Halo HD protectors definitely have gotten some great reviews, so I picked up the 3 pack, I'll see how well they work for us.
Thanks again, will post an update once the phones (Tuesday maybe?) and the cases/protectors (should be in on Wednesday) are both in :good:
THe ballistic in Black/Pink is still available in case you need.
http://www.thecellguru.com/Products/77068
and the Black/Black one too: http://www.amazon.com/Ballistic-SG1098-M005-Series-Case-NEXUS/dp/B00B5SCDN8/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
Highly highly recommend halo screen protectors.

I have a spigen ultra crystal screen protector and I love it. Still doesn't have a single scratch on it and my case doesn't peel it at all.
The case I got it the hybrid fusion by re earth.
And for a back skin I suggest dbrand skins. I have a black carbon and it looks awesome. And my are doesn't cover it because it has a clear back.
