I was hoping to get a decent thread started for this radio as it is a great device and could use some added support from dev's.
Couple questions to kick it off if anyone is reading:
Do you guys just tether your phone to connect to the internet or is there some other way? I currently have t mobile and tethering does work but would love to automate it. There is an app called autotether but it uses Bluetooth and although this radio has Bluetooth there is no option for it in settings so I cannot seem to pair it. Would be awesome to auto tether when you get in your car though. Also, does anyone use the SD card? I bought a 32gb on amazon and formatted it to NTFS but every-time I out it in it says its in the wrong format. So I let the radio format it and hooked it and verified it is still NTFS but it will not play my media. I just tried an mkv file but no luck at all. Anyone know if the radio supports 32gb? Lastly when I use Pandora and turn the radio on and off it comes up saying no video signal. I am pretty sure this is because lack of internet but does this work for others?
Thanks for any help!
Hope we can start getting some people interested. I'm sure other owners of this device have questions as well.

If you format the card with FAT32 you should be good to go. I have a no-name 32GB that works just fine.

Hey, Gerry from YouTube here. Thanks for starting this thread. I hope this unit and units like it get some love in the future. I'd be thrilled to see some version of CyanogenMod on this thing.
Here's my video review if anyone is interested.
Ouku 6.2" Android Head Unit review

Does it have ROOT???
I just asked Gerald from the Youtube review, is this device rooted? I saw some devices on eBay that run ICS and I was wondering Ouku made their products unlocked and rooted. Thanks.
---------- Post added at 11:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:36 PM ----------
And will GingerBreak work on this?

this is beyond awesome to see something in the works...at any rate just got my unit from ebay and its great just a couple questions and things to bounce off anyone that can help...
I saw that it can support Digital and Analog Tv? Im sure im just gonna realize that i ended up with the wrong one (analog one) but its worth a shot to see if it can.
I noticed I can redirect the Navi button, can we do the same for Radio ? and can I get the next and previous tracks to be more of a "global" next vs just a radio or cd?
Not that it matters but is there no "Location Settings" in the menu. I ran Google maps for the first time where it asks you to turn on Wifi Location services but i quickly hit cancel thinking i could do it later only to find out that it wasnt in the menu.
Hope this isnt too many questions, and just so i can give back to the community a tad bit...i noticed somebody on youtube was saying how he didnt have internet. I noticed that I had to set the time before i was able to access playstore, or even play pandora. Anyway hope we can fix some of these minor fixes to in my opinion one of the best head units in this pricerange to date.

From the Gingerbread manual:
"Enable location services
You must have location services turned on to view your location in Maps and to use
your location to find local resources.
1 Press Home , press Menu , and touch Settings > Location & security.
2 Check the My Location options that you want to use.
Check Use wireless networks to allow the phone to determine your
approximate location by using Wi-Fi and mobile networks.
Check Use GPS satellites to allow your phone to determine your location to
street-level accuracy. (GPS works best when you have a clear view of the sky.)"
I hope that is helpful.

My unit does not show the telephone menu on top when it boots but it does show it on top when you receive or make a phone call.
It seems that although this is Android 2.4.1 it is a somewhat stripped version of it. For example bluetooth is not in the settings nor is this location option you are looking for. I'm not sure how you would get that option to present itself again. My only suggestions would be to try another app that requires this and see if that prompts you to enable it, look for a shortcut app in the play store that does the same thing, or restore back to factory.
I for one am super happy with this radio. It does far more than any top name brand market radio available but could be that much more awesome with ICS or a non limited version of android. Would be super cool if one of the devs got one and made it happen! I mean think about it.. Android in your car, it's awesome! No more car docks, no more where do I mount my phone! Just a huge awesome touchscreen with Google maps.. Lets do this!
Hopefully someone much more advanced than I will buy one and root it so we can make this happen. :silly:

Hey Thanks, it worked well.

Compliments of Gerry and his YouTube video review, linked are the update files for this unit. These files upgrade the units MCU version from 2.8.42 to 2.10.6-1-10-1 and System from 2.12.10 to version 2.12.32. This does not update the version of Android. Honestly I don't think anyone's knows exactly what the update does but hopefully it helps performance in some way and who doesn't want to be up to date. I am not sure where Gerry received these files and I hope he does not get mad at me for posting them here. :silly:
Instructions, there is a PDF file inside or check out Gerry's video here:

Got mine on eBay like most others.

Oh btw, anyone know how to get text messaging app to work without a sim card?

What don't you like about it??
I was looking at getting one.

Where do you manage Bluetooth devices? I am looking at getting a ODB2 Bluetooth read and running Torque on the stereo. I don't see it in the normal place that I am used to looking on my phone.
Thanks

Don't think obd 2will work within bt ,the bt is only for phone and music play back.

HTC Sedna and Tomtom

Hi,
Have someone any idea about using Tomtom with the Sedna integrated GPS ?
Thanks.
My p6500 from orange works fine with tomtom 6 using the internal gps. Also I-go 8 works fine too.
I got TomTom 5.21 working with no problem.
Same here Tomtom v6 works a treat
I have Tomtom 6, and I can't see how to connect to the built-in gps receiver, how do I do this?
I've tried:
Change preferences > Show GPS Status > configure and the available options are:
TomTom Bluetooth GPS receiver
TomTom wired GPs receiver
Other Bluetooth GPS receiver
Other NMEA GPS receiver
But none of these work. Currently, 'Other Bluetooth GPS receiver' works with my external one, but if I could use the built-in one it would be much nicer. One less thing sliding around on the dashboard!
On the subject of GPS, what's that quickGPS all about? The manual says very little about it.
xmastree, use Other NMEA GPS receiver, then pick the correct one, on my Orange M700 it is GPS in COM9, I think the Sedna is different, my trial unit went back months ago. You check the correct one with Start, Settings, System, GPS to find what the hardware is using.
I liked quickGPS. Normally a GPS chip only knows about the local satellites where the chip is manufactured, in this case Taiwan, and does not know where to look in the sky for sats good for the UK the first time you use it. It can take up to 2 hours before you get lock. quickGPS goes to an Internet site over 3G and populates the chip with sat co-ords. My trial Sedna picked up in 2 minutes after using it.

Woo Hoo!
That did the trick. I also checked 'Manage GPS automatically' under 'Access'
Strangely, the settings are under Start, Settings, System, External GPS which seems odd.

Nice, although I wonder why it seems to want to refresh every seven days...

You're welcome. I was quoting my Orange M700 settings on WM5 AKU3, the Sedna was WM6 and I trialled it about 4 months ago, don't expect me to remember the detail.
Did not spot the 7 day quickGPS refresh on mine, but I would not think this would be a lot of traffic, they're aren't many GPS satellites!
Having used the built-in receiver for a while now, I'm still not too happy with it.
Most of the time it's fine, but other times it just loses the signal and you get this effect:

I was stationary at the time.
Comparing the built-in one and my external bluetooth receiver:
No contest really, is it?
And here I am, supersonic, somewhere over the North sea. I was actually in Kirkham, Lancashire.

I've been using an Orange M700 (HTC 3600 [Trinity]) WM5 AKU3 for almost a year now with the same GPS chip as in the Sedna (HTC P6500) with no ill effects. Only downside is it is a bit slow to lock, sometimes 60 seconds, but once locked is fine. Initially it was in a screen sucker cradle but my cig socket for the power is mounted in a centre console level with the back of the drivers seat so the coiled cable was constantly springing out so I switched to putting the unit in the drinks holder way BELOW and underneath the dashboard in my personal car where you would not expect good signal but it is not a problem in all driving conditions.
We recently bought 35 Sednas and I have 3 deployed now in a live pilot not using cradles and only one suffers. His company car has a metallised screen (to cut UV radiation, a Picasso) which also stops the GPS signal. There is a small area of the screen not screened just behind the rearview mirror where we have the existing external GPS receiver that was used to supply his previous PDA cradle that did not have GPS. We will be re-fitting this to a new cradle due to be fitted in the next few days. The other 2 units have no problems, but are different cars.
I took my base build sedna on the road over the weekend in my own car without UV screening and it was as good as the M700. I even put it on the passenger seat and on the floor, still good as gold.
So I think it is your car that is the problem, you'll have to use an external GPS antenna, unless ............. My previous trial P6500 was WM6.0 but that also worked fine in my same car as now, the new ones are WM6.1, but I doubt it.
Regards QuickGPS 7 day refresh, now I have the P6500 back, it is a waste of time, you only need to sync once in the UK after a hard reset. QuickGPS was not available on the M700 so I couldn't comment before. I synced my base build P6500 2 months ago once, used it in the image to be burned on the 35 new ones and they've all picked up fine in practice.
Well the car is a Peugeot 307, and the PDA is mounted just to the right of the instrument panel. The bluetooth receiver usually lives in the centre of the dash, but sometimes if it's charging it's right next to the PDA and gets a much better signal.
If I'm going to use an external antenna, I may as well use the bluetooth receiver instead.

Ask your Peugeot dealer about the screen (and side windows). I take it you are UK given your screenshots, so I guess to the right of the dashboard panel is below the dashboard top and near to the door pillar between screen and driver's door. I would not expect a GPS receiver to lock in these conditions, or at least be very slow and freeze, how the hell is it going to lock onto 5 simultaneous satellites with no line of sight in a car, especially if all the windows have UV screening?
NB Bluetooth GPS is an external antenna as well, it just uses BT instead of a real cable.

It's not below the dash, it's on top, in clear view from above.
FWIW, during a rather 'spirited' launch this morning, the bluetooth receiver ended up in the passenger footwell and still got a better signal.

Not sure about that. The bluetooth receiver has the GPS chip in it whereas an external antenna plugged into the PDA will just pick up the satellite signals and feed them to the PDA's gps chip.

How I got my eLocity to execute Google Maps with GPS location support

I have Google Maps with GPS location support on my eLocity. This is a short note describing what I put together -- I did no work here, I just found the appropriate notes left by others.
Update: Navigation works too. See below.
I had an eLocity that I put Dexter's v1.42 on. But the market on that does not show Google Maps. So I put Bestialbub's fix on top of that. And that did display google maps, so I downloaded it. However, for whatever reason, the resulting market was very unstable, and would force close, even as a background task when I wasn't using it.
But it was good enough to play with. And with it I got the fundamentals working, however, I did end up reflashing with the latest stock eLocity firmware and installing Bestialbub's market on top of that.
So I installed Google Maps on the eLocity.
The eLocity does not have a GPS, so you need some external GPS device. I used my Nexus One and an app called Bluetooth GPS Output
I believe that app cost a couple of bucks, and there are free apps that will do the samething and should work, but I found pretty good instructions on how to get Bluetooth GPS Output to work here.
What Bluetooth GPS Output does is to take the GPS information on my Nexus One and make it available over bluetooth to any connected bluetooth device that wants it.
I then basically followed the instructions from here.
Bluetooth Pair your phone and Archos tablet (I have the Archos 70 250 gb)
Open Bluetooth GPS out on your phone, and turn it on, you should see a screen showing satellite info
Archos Settings/Location and Security/Bluetooth GPS, then select my paired phone. If that is grayed out, try opening up the app on your phone before actually pairing your Archos with your phone.
Open up maps and enjoy the Navigation!
But the last step isn't that simple because the eLocity doesn't support Bluetooth GPS in the Location & security settings page.
But there are workarounds....
Similar to Bluetooth GPS Output, there are apps that do the reverse. Listen for a Bluetooth GPS Stream, and convert that into an internal android source.
And for that, I chose, an application called BluetoothGPS -- similar name, different developers.
I installed that on the eLocity.
At this point I made the eLocity discoverable over bluetooth and discovered it on my Nexus One. The two devices said they were paired but not connected. I'm not sure what that means. And still with this working, I still see on the eLocity, the Bluetooth is active but not really connected icon, while the Nexus shows a bluetooth connection has been made (though that could be indicating a connection with its dock which is 10 feet away.).
On the Nexus One to get Bluetooth GPS Output talking to Bluetooth GPS I:
Didn't do much if anything in Bluetooth GPS Output, I just started it
On the eLocity, I:
On the device's Application settings page, under development, I enabled "Allow mock locations"
I started the application Bluetooth GPS
On Bluetooth GPS's main tab, I enabled Mock GPS Provider
Bluetooth GPS presented a list box with my Nexus in it, and asked me to connect, so I did.
And on Bluetooth GPS settings tab, I frobbed some reconnect interval settings.
And with that, it basically seems to work. The connection does not seem incredibly stable, I am not sure if it's related to screen display timeouts and devices sleeping, or some other source of flakiness.
But it does seem to work.
So I took it out for a test drive, to see how well it worked. This was typical suburban driving. And only lasted about 30 minutes.
The nexus was plugged into the car, the elocity was on battery. Bluetooth on, Bluetooth GPS Output running, Bluetooth GPS running, and the map showed the current location. Great!
So I directed the map on the eLocity to take us to the post office, and ... waited ... and waited ... and nothing happened.
Aha, it needs data. So I turned on the Nexus One's wifi hotspot, connected the eLocity to that, and, ...
Success! Driving directions and navigation worked just fine, with one caveat. For whatever reason, i would tell me when I started up Navigation that if I wanted voice nav, I needed a plugin from the market, but when I said sure, go get it, the market would force close. However, voice navigation worked anyway.
During the 30 minutes I played with it, the connection between the two devices was nice and stable, and the map always displayed the right location and navigation worked as expected.
The eLocity is a very nice mapper compared to the Nexus One, for whatever reason, at equivalent zoom levels, the eLocity display shows much much more of the surrounding area than does the Nexus One. And physically the screen is about three times larger, and much easier to see in daylight (cloudy day though.)
However, the Nexus One displays a map where your current driving direction is always oriented to the top of the screen. This makes it very easy to orient where the next turn or landmark is.
Presumably because the eLocity does not have a digital compass, the eLocity always displays north to the top of the screen. This can be better at sometimes, as when you are trying to get a feel for where a very long route will take you, and worse at other times, when you're just trying to navigate through streets.
But all in all, pretty cool.
Note the Google Maps blue location dot:

Not sure if this is what you wanted but my Sennehsier MM 500-X (everything else in its family line should work too) works perfectly. SGS3 has aptx support and sound is great. Also, all the buttons (play/pause, skip next/before, volume up and down) work with everything I've tried (poweramp, diceplayer, bad all the stock media players)

Alpine ICS-X8 App Link Station which uses MirrorLink technology with the Galaxy S3 is one to add.
Video here is quite old but is only one I can find which shows a Samsung phone rather than a Nokia. They mention the GS3 mirrorlink support is there when the phone is released.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQdEnXssqr0
Demo with Nokia :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnGPKPmTrZw
MirrorLink allows you to mirror your phones screen on the 7" Alpine dashboard unit in your car and control it via the touch screen and letting you run Sat Nav software for example from your phone. Audio is transmitted over car speakers and the GPS passthrough antenna from Alpine is used by the phone.
Just bought one of these, just need the GS3 now but waiting on 64GB model

Best USB Carplay Dongle?

I have a px5 based unit I bought from Secaine running android 8.0 along with a Zlink USB carplay dongle. I have had lots of issues with the carplay dongle, as far as I know I have the latest firmware and apk installed for it (4.5.3 I think? I got it from the zjinnova site before they changed it up). Are there newer updates for it than this? If there are I can't find them ...
I've had issues with it cutting out or just not detecting either the zbox or the phone. At some point I learned that I probably needed more USB power so I installed a powered hub and that helped things for a while but the issues seem to be back and sometimes even worse than before. Still have issues with it cutting out (sometimes I have to do a hard reboot of the px5 unit before it will detect again). I don't have issues with any other USB devices I try to use with the hub (like a USB key with a bunch of media on it) so I don't think it's the hub .. given that I've had similar issues with and without the hub it's probably something else. I also have audio dropouts/glitches happen quite a lot, audio breaking up if maps is trying to do audio the same time as an audiobook or music, etc.
I also can't do calls with it because the echo cancellation doesn't seem to work (if I try and change settings it just doesn't stick, ever) and people tell me that the echo is really really bad if I try and do the calls through carplay. I even installed an external mic which didn't help all that much. The calls work ok if I do them through the head unit directly over bluetooth ...
I spend a ton of time in my car commuting (up to 4 hours per day) so I really want to find the most reliable solution. Is there a USB Carplay dongle that's better supported / more reliable? Or is there an update I can do with this one that will make it more reliable?
No one has anything for this one?
I decided to pick up a Pumpkin one, it seems like AutoPlay box seems to be getting some updates and has some activ development going on with it so hoping it's going to work out better for me than the zbox has.
Any insights would be appreciated. I've read through the 32 pages of thread but not seen anyone talk much about the different choices out there currently.
So today the zLink / zBox dongle pretty much gave up. It cut out about 3 times in 15 minutes and the last time it just didn't come back. Running a USB thumb drive on the same hub has zero issues so I'm guessing it's probably not my px5 or USB hub but indeed the zBox. Glad I ordered a Pumpkin AutoPlay box based one that's in transit.
I guess I'm just talking to myself here given that no one has replied! LOL
ive got a zbox version using the 4.1.1 apk (not sure which firmware, was the joying branded model and using the firmware it shipped with) and other than the same echo in calls, its been reliable.
Hmm that's good to know. The one I got came with really old firmware and software and ran very very poorly when I first got it. I think my firmware is 4.1 or 4.2 so not sure if downgrading would be an option for me, but given it's recent performance (which was worse than normal) I think there might be actual hardware issues going on with mine.
Got my AutoPlay based unit today and in some quick testing it already feels a lot more stable than the zBox one. And it's nice to see that it has an update mechanism and seems to be still being worked on ... the zbox feels like it was abandoned at some point a while back. Tested a couple of phone calls and people on the other end said it sounded great and had no echo.
The only thing I ran into is that I can't seem to drag on a timeline bar to move ahead or back. Not the end of the world and I would happily trade that for something stable any day. Had a tiny bit of glitchy audio happen when having maps running in 3D and music and map voice at the same time, but again also not the end of the world.
So far so good, will see how things work out next week while back on the big commutes.

I have had the same issue with Zbox as you and updated to the newest firmware today and still no luck. I'm looking into one called Carlinkit on Amazon. Seems to have the best reviews. I also have a Sceicane running Android 6.0. I wonder if it's the HU that Sceicane sells. We'll see I guess.
Do any of you have any updates or thoughts on which dongle is the current best option? I see the carlinkit one on Amazon, has anyone tried that one?

I've the same issue with my zBox dongle. It's very unstable and often not detecting my iPhone. Using waze destroys the music playback every time when the voice starts to speak.
So those AutoKit dongles seem to be more stable and reliable? Is every of those dongles updatable?

Can you recommend one from a specific brand?
I found a black one (https://www.ebay.de/itm/USB-Dongle-...050745?hash=item364eaace39:g:WcIAAOSwwrFc95v1) but I don´t know if that´s the right one
This wont really be of much help to those who already have a headunit, but just wanted to chime in and say that the built in Z-link on my Joying Intel 9853i unit has worked flawlessly.

There seems to be two standards. The black that you posted follows a different standard from mine.
I tried to get the URL where I bought it (AliExpress) but the product is not sold anymore.
However I managed to find one that uses the same software:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/330...lgo_pvid=6687a99a-9a06-42c3-822c-1d5cae748ba4
My model is called: CPC200-CMAP and it is white, but I think that the colour doesn't matter much. I know in the past there was one dongle that supported only Carplay and the other supported AndroidAuto and Carplay.
Nowadays there is also another dongle that allows to connect Carplay via Wireless that is using the same software as I do (AutoKit is called). I know that because I saw a video somewhere and the latest firmware that I got had that option, however I think that my hardware is not prepared for that, and anyway I use Android Auto.
I can find that one that allows wireless carplay based on AutoKit if you are interested.

This is one of them, with wireless carplay.

I am using the WCPAA USB adapter from Avin and works great for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on my PX5 Android head unit . The CarPlay can be USB or wireless connection but the Android Auto still requires a USB connection.
https://avinusa.com/wireless-apple-carplay-android-auto-usb-adapter.html
I ordered a Wireless CarPlay dongle from Aliexpress, the brand is Carlinkit, the pictures show a model number as "CPC200 AutoKit", there specs say "CCPMW". The price was a very reasonable £48 with free delivery.

Cool that sounds great. I think I gonna buy one of those. If Wireless is to slow then the USB slot can be used for wired airplay, right?

Yeah it has a USB port and as far as I'm aware you can use a wired connection, Im going to try and test out different distances to the unit to see if that makes a difference. Ive not noticed any problems yet but ive only used it a few times.
I tested it with iOS 13 public beta today. There was a time that the music broke up but later it played smooth again. I had a few issues with Siri and messages but I think that’s down to the beta software.

I really like this new dashboard view, the map scrolls when you travel like a propper sat nav.

Edit - Audio still seems to break up more often
Edit - Audio still breaking up with iOS 13 public beta 3, however it's smooth if using USB instead.

Junsun V1 Pro MTK8259 4GB + 64GB Android 10 headunit

Hello. I recently bought a headunit from Junsun with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage (it seems that the other versions from Junsun do not have this SoC). Let's collect all information about this version only so we can help each other. I just installed this headunit in a Kia Ceed 2 from 2017. I did not take any screenshots of the software information, but I will add them as soon as I have them.
hi, I have rcently installed this radio on VW Golf 7. I have ine doubt because the radio looks like don't turn off when ignition is off, because when I turn on the car again, the radio start from the main screen. It means the radio don't turn off when the car is off, and on whe the ignition is on. and looks like the radio keep resting but on (with a low battery consumption).
I want the radio switch off automatically when I the igniton is off.
is it possible? do you know any option to change that?
@Balti Lopez: I am returning mine, but I checked the settings. Go to Car Settings (you should have it too), then go to Common and there should be a Sleep option set to ON. You should turn that option to OFF.

I have 2 major issues: OBD BT app is not launching for me (Junsun support said it is my adapter's fault, the same adapter that they are selling). I tried all I could. The second issue is that it does not recognize any USB stick. I found out yesterday that the USB stick I was using it dead (not sure if it is because of the headunit). Without an USB stick I would not be able to update my headunit (not that there would be an update). When I kind of snapped at them, they just said it is my problem or that I should wait for their engineer to reply. Basically I got my product on November 19-20 and the week after that was spent with me writing them.
My personal take on the software is that it is too simple. I cannot use any of the car launchers I found (like Agama) because the system apps are only available in the default launcher. It is unfortunate because I wanted an unit with 4G/LTE (mobile Internet is working very well). I was fooled that it had a lot of reviews and a lot of orders, but most were mixed. I put it in a Kia Ceed 2 and I found on a Russian forum that Junsun has been put on a blacklist because there are plenty users not happy with their products. I had some issues with the frame for my Kia, it did not fit, some users said they cut the frame (I cut one of the plastic feet).
I have bought Junsun 2/32 4G! I also have problems and I can't solve them with messages! I open dispute and they asked me to cancel it! I wonder if I would like to update firmware where I can find newer version? At settings model is 825X Pro!

Hi. I want to have Internet connection using phone data, by connecting the unit with mobile via bluetooth tethering.
I have paired phone and unit, I have enabled in unit bluetooth connectivity and I have enabled in phone settings Bluetooth tethering but I don't have Internet connection in unit. What else can I do?
Hi,
here my experience with Junsun V1 Pro with MTK 8259 (detailed spec. of device in below screenshots).

My car is:
Mazda 3, produced 2010 (type BL).
1. The radio station memory is cleared after rebooting the device (i.e. after setting differen CAN Type), so I must always to set the radio channels from beginnig on.
>> this I can handle since I don't have to play with CAN Type setting all the time.
2. I cannot pin any widget, or any shortcut of an app the to any of the home screens! The system hangs up when I trying to pin something.
>> this is to solve by different launcher. I have tried with Nova launcher and took radio, bleutooth etc. app from “for_launchers” zip file. Was working fine.
3. During using a navigation app the music from radio and sounds from navi are not mixed. Radio is playing and when navi sound comes, then radio is reduced and overplayed, I couldn't find option to change it.
>> in the end nothing special, it is a matter of expectation and taste.
4. The reverse camera (gift from Junsun) is not working afer installation according to diagrams.
>> this stays unsolved...
5. After switching car gear to reverse any backview as Warning Line or as Assistance Line are not working, not appearing!
>> is unsolved,
maybe connected with issue no 4. (system doesn't detect camera, so also deosn't activate any backview).
6. After switching car gear to reverse the sound level reduction deosn't work!
>> is unsolved,
maybe also connected with issue no 4. (system doesn't detect camera, also deosn't activate any backview, so in the end no sound level change).
7. I did Reset to Factory Settings (through android interface) to correct the problem no.2 (see description above). It helped for a moment, so after some time (~15 minutes) the issue came back, so still I cannot pin any widget or shortcut to any home screen.
8. I cannot find any option to make Screen-Lock.
>> probably dedicated app would help, but I haven't tried.
9. The CAN info are not working with my car, so I cannot see any info about open doors, etc.
>> I was using CAN Type 145, as adviced by seller, but still was not working.
All of above issue I was trying to solve with seller via messages (my english is not perfect, but their ... terrible).
After upgrading the device to a new FW (provided by seller), after few days of discussion, I have decided to return the radio back. I did all according to agreement with seller and via aliexpress system and it worked fine. I got money back (211€) , all good.
The device, beside above described issues, worked really really well, fast and smoothly.
The GPS was catch fast and 4G with sim card slot extension worked really amazing (direct internet access as well as direct phone calls possible!).
The radio reception and the sound quality, also very good!
It is a pity, because the device looks like has a big potential, but the current FW is not perfect, so causing small, but many annoying problems.
Not sure about camera issue (no.: 4+5+6), if it is connected with FW or rather with CAN decoder...
I would consider to buy it again, but first I will wait for a better FW/OS/ROM, so I am looking forward for any news about it!
I hope the info will help some of you.
Greetings!

This is the default Android behavior. Android plays by default one stream and audio streams have different priorities. Some have higher priority than others and only one can be played at one point. Whenever a higher priority sound comes, the current sound volume will be lowered for a while (any notification sound or Navi is considered to have higher priority).
For the other issues I personally blame the firmware. As I said before, their firmware is lacking and it is a shame. You had the 4G/LTE version as I did, I just did not connect the rearview camera.
I have this head unit for an AUDI and here are some things I found:
The radio and other UI components come from the system app called "MainUI" which gets modified depending on the company/seller who puts their own touches to it. It is signed using the AOSP android platform certificate and you can install/replace it with another MainUI and things mostly work. MainUI is also moddable if you know how to recompile the apk as the code is not secured in any way. Simply resign it with the platform certificate and install via adb/usb.
The unit boots up in two different ways depending on how long it has been left off.
* cold bootup which starts with the animated "android" splash- this bootup will allow apps installed to run if it has the BOOT_COMPLETED intent in its manifest.
* Quickboot- this is where the bootup is fast and bypasses normal android boot. In order to have an app start in this bootup mode, you need to set the system property, for example, to start the "navigation" as per settings:
Code:
setprop sys.qb.startapp_onresume "L#P com.ts.MainUI#A com.ts.main.navi.NaviMainActivity#T 2#I 5"
the components are seperated by "#", and the format is L#P <package>#A <activity>
then you can add optional T <number of times run>#I <number of seconds between each run>
In this example it will try to start the navigation activity twice and 5 seconds in between. I noticed that if you just try to run it once, sometimes the UI is not ready and the activity fails. The "L" at the beginning means to try to rerun apps that were already running before shutdown, it only works sometimes.
Sometimes the system properties will not stick and gets reset by the device. I do not know why this is the case. Therefore to make this more permanent change, it needs to be added to the /system/etc/prop.default file.
Changing any system files requires booting into recovery (via android developer options and adb reboot recovery), mounting the system partition and using the root access "su":
Code:
su @#zxcvbnmasdfghjklqwertyuiop1234567890,.
then mounting the system_root as rewritable
Code:
mount -o rw,remount /system_root
Someone else posted the above information in another thread and was also on the russian 4pda forums, but ill add it here as well.
Bluetooth tethering works well generally, although you will find sometimes it will disconnect by itself. In order to fix this, go to the "phone" app and reconnect from there.
Another thing I noticed was if you try to flash another rom, and get into a bootloop, there is no way to enter recovery (via the "RST" button or anything). The "RST" button as it turns out just turns off the device.
In order to fix a bootloop due to bad flash, have the "8259.bin" and "8259.upd" files in a usb disk and when the bootup says "detected", continually swipe the screen left and right. That will initiate a flash mode. This has saved me a few times already.

You can make su and remount in adb shell and /system will rw. And to adding app in quickboot is possible via edit qb_list.xml in /vendor/etc
I also modified stock launcher for mercedes and made knob working across android system as dpad.
Before change something need to make ROM backup with Flash Tool. And after that possible to get usual (not su @#...) root just via patch boot.img with Magisk and flash it back.
Also possible to hide status bar for some apps with adb command

You can make su and remount in adb shell and /system will rw. And to adding app in quickboot is possible via edit qb_list.xml in /vendor/etc
I also modified stock launcher for mercedes and made knob working across android system as dpad.
Before change something need to make ROM backup with Flash Tool. And after that possible to get usual (not su @#...) root just via patch boot.img with Magisk and flash it back.
Also possible to hide status bar for some apps with adb command

How did you make the backup using flashtool? I tried and it said it does not recognise the system or something. Does the device have to be in fastboot mode or something?

You need to install MTK drivers and connect laptop to usb port on which carplay works. After that you should enable readback and press reset button in hole. You may try this scatter files. MTK is generated from my device, AC8257 is part of Junsun ROM. I called my scatter as MTK because Flash Tool doesnt know AC chipsets. My device is 4/64 gb, another probably 2/32 gb
Hi, I have this same radio. I tried to connect it to the computer as I read here and I could not do it. What I would like to do is to root it and if I can put the TWRP RECOVERY. I have not been able to extract the boot.img from the firmware.bin. On the other hand, the "back" button has been deconfigured and now the action it does when I press it, is that I turn off the screen. Do you know how to fix it? I have used the "BUTTONS REMAPPER" application but I have not achieved anything.
Best Regards
Sorry, repeat.
