[Q] Touchscreen issue - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a weird problem with my touchscreen.
if i lay down my phone on a mattress the touchscreen doesn't notice touches on the navigationbar and i can't access the notification drawer!
the rest of the screen is working well only these two areas doesn't notice any touches if i lay it down on a mattress. on a table sometimes it works and sometimes not and if i hold the phone in my hands, everything is perfect!
i really don't know what this could be !
Stock rom, no root, bootloader locked !
Problem solved: for those who are using a protective film or going to buy one for their n4, i used the Vikuiti DQC160 film and this material is causing issues with the touchscreen. i really don´t know why it´s only when the phone lays anywhere on a table or something but it´s definetly the protective film what caused this strange issue.

Screen Alignment Problems after Screen Replacement

I dropped my iMate and the screen cracked. I had the screen replaced by PPCTechs and they did a great job. The device worked properly after a hard reset. After a few hours of use, the screen alignment drifts off. Typing on the onscreen keyboard becomes difficult and eventually impossible. After a soft reset and realignment of the screen, it works well for awhile.
Does this sound like a problem with the new screen or was something else maybe damaged (memory) in the drop? Has anyone else experienced a similar problem?
Fixed
The folks at PPCTechs recommended I peel back the screen protector 80% and smooth it back down. Evidently the screen protectors can develop "hotspots" that cause this behavior.
I have known the touchpad to cease operation if the screen protector is tucked under the edges of the front cover but I have never heard of misalignment due to air bubbles. I would try what they say and if the problem persists I would return it to them and ask for it to be fixed.
It's been working now for a day without problems. BTW, there wereno bubbles. PPCTechs installed the screen protector when they replaced the screen and did a very nice job. I am guessing it may have to do with temperature differences between the protector and the screen itself.

Screen not working

Hi All;
My screen seems to have stopped working as of yesterday... the centre of the screen when off now has an odd pattern to it, almost like when you rub two pieces of glass together and there is some water between them. The phone is rooted, but I suspect this is more than likely a hardware issue (as in my screen is p00ned...). Has anyone else had this issue?

Touch screen issues after removing screen protector

So I removed the included screen protector since it had a deep scratch on it. I read on the forums that you don't need the protector and that it actually works better without it.
Well my experience has been the complete opposite. Ever since I removed the protector I'm ready to smash this bloody phone. It's next to impossible to use due to the humidity in my area or something. The SMALLEST amount of moisture on my finger tips or even in the air will cause the screen to go haywire and register touches all by itself. Apps will open by themselves...i can barely type anything as it keeps typing multiple characters on it's own or other silly stuff. If I wipe down the display it will work fine for the first little bit until it gets that tiny bit of moisture from my fingers on the screen again and it starts going haywire again. It's a hassle just to try and unlock the phone from the lock screen at times.
So is my phone defective or is just the suffering I must incur by living in a humid area. I can't use the phone like this so I guess I'll have to look at buying a new screen protector. But if this is not normal and is a fault in my hardware then i would like to return it and get a different phone. I didn't really have issues with the screen protector on.
Ive kept my screen protector on my phone, works fine until i have moisture or (rain drops) on the screen, then my phone doesnt respond and also misfunctions the position of where i touch on the screen not sure if this is normaly as its the rain drops on the screen..
Tested witht he iphone 4 in the rain and works brilliant, why doesnt the X10 do the same !! :/

As you may know, those screens are capacitive displays, that means they're activated by sending (very) small amounts of electricity and are kinda "looking for a conductive material" in order to register an input.
The conductive material can be your finger, or something like... a raindrop or your screen, so that's why it thinks you're pressing that part of the screen...
Now it's even more obvious without the screen protector since it's directly on the screen.
As for why the iphone doesn't have issues with that, it does, but the screen being multitouch it's not as bad...
thanks for the info.good to know.
I didn't like the thick screen protector as my thumb/finger seemed to drag and not slide smoothly. I took it off and replaced it with a slightly thinner protector. I'm much happier with the feel now.

@smok3yjk - probably best if you do as Angelahp - get another screen protector on there.

Touchscreen sensitivity

Does anyone have a really sensitive touchscreen?
Sometimes if even a droplet of water falls on or a smear/fingerprint smudge gets on mine, the flipside acts as if it is still being held at that point for me..
Sometimes it's caused hangups in a call, or zooms in indefinitely on some webpage, gets annoying sometimes.
Anyone experienced this or have a fix? I have a hard case, but that's not really helping.
just a thought
I noticed my screen is also very touch sensitive. I prefer it that way verse other android phones I've owned. Maybe a screen protector will give you the effect you are looking for.
Screen protector did the trick for me.

Ghost Touches on the Bottom end of the Screen and Hardware Keys

My Device was working fine until Yesterday I began to have ghost touches and was having trouble even to make a call... I thought it might be due to My Tempered Glass Screen Protector so I removed it but still I have the same issue... I tuned on the option to show touches and found out it was only on the bottom end of the screen (and sometimes My recent key is also triggered)... I felt it to be affecting TWRP as well... What could be the issue and how can I solve it???

are you using oily hands on the device too often?Beware the screen digitizer and other display components of this phone are of cheap quality(it is xiaomi after all)you will most probably have to get your full screen replaced for around 2.5k.
