[HOW TO] Install Flash Player 11.1.115.16 4.0+ Support Noob (Simple) Version - 7" Kindle Fire HD General

This tutorial has been developed for the user wanting native Flash Support when browsing the web. We have tested the Flash Player through a number of sites and have seen flawless performance.
The method used here also allows any application to use the built in Flash Player, like BBC Player which requires Flash Player to run properly. Remember, Android is phasing out Flash Player, so this tutorial will become more important as we grow towards updated Android OS Platforms. We currently use Adobe Flash Player 11.1.115.16 4.0+
Why use Flash Player on the Kindle? You are able to obtain Free Content from these providers:
Top 5 free movie players for the Kindle:
1. Hulu (NOT Plus)
2. Crackle Player
3. BBC iPlayer
4. SkyGo
5. ITV Player

Flash Player Step 1: Download Adobe_Flash_Player_11.1.115.16_4.0+.apk save it to /sdcard/download
Flash Player Step 2: Using Google Play download and install Dolphin Browser
Flash Player Step 3: Using Google Play download and install Opera Browser
Flash Player Step 3.1: Using Silk Browser download and install Boat Browser
Flash Player Step 4: Using Root Explorer or similar application, install /sdcard/download/Adobe_Flash_Player_11.1.115.16_4.0+.apk
Flash Player Step 5: Using Google Play download and install SWF Player
Flash Player Step 6: Now launch either Dolphin or Opera Web Browser, go to any Flash Site. At some point you will be asked which browser to use by default. Play with them both, I like both and have had a hard time deciding which one is better. So far Dolphin appears to open just about any site whereas Opera seems to be a little more picky on the content.
Note: The Amazon Silk Web Browser loaded as the default browser on the Kindle 7" HD does not support Flash content nor will it work with this new plugin. This is the reason for installing Opera and Dolphin.

Krsmqn,
That is the version we use in this post - Adobe Flash Player 11.1.115.16 4.0+.:good:

Boat Browser works great for Flash as well. I prefer version 4.6.1. I personally go back and forth between Boat and Dolphin depending on version. I've never been a fan of Opera.

Redwolf379,
Now this is one I have not tried. I will take a peek at it tonight, Thank you for the feedback.:good:

Boat is fairly similar to Dolphin in settings and privacy features. The new version has static bookmarks that I dont much care for but 4.6.1 does not. I will upload this version shortly for you to try. Also, thanks for all your hard work and dedication to the community. Ive been following several of your posts/guides and am thankful we have you here to help those who need it.

Redwolf379,
I had time to test Boat Browser today. I think I like it better than Dolphin. It is a very snappy and fast browser, even
with complex content sites or Flash sites. Anyways, I am impressed and thank you for the recommendation. The
Boat Browser footprint is small, here is the comparison:
1. Google Chrome 19.3 MB
2. Boat Browser 2.1 MB
3. Mozilla Nightly 25.97 MB
4. Opera 8.49
5. Dolphin 4.78 MB
So, the above answers why each one accelerates in it's own area. Mozilla is loaded with features but look at the
Footprint, the cost is speed, Mozilla Nightly is by far the slowest of the bunch. Both Dolphin and Boat Browser
have a large array of options, so in the end you can get all the features of Mozilla with the state of the art
performance.

Great to hear! I stumbled across it when I was looking for something to compare Dolphin to some time ago and really liked it. I have both Boat and Dolphin installed but Boat has been my daily driver browser for a while now.

Personally i find the cm9 browser to work the best with flash and the fastest browser even vs chrome.

mindmajick,
That is one I forget to use, yet it is quite universal and supports Flash. I still find Boat Browser to be a bit faster than the rest, even with Flash Player active. The funny part? I disable Flash when I use this site since the scripts are massive with lots of Ad pointers active. Flash disabled on this site increases the performance 10 fold.
Thank you mindmajick for taking the time to post your comments:good:.

[Q] UK WIFI ICS Query

Thinking of taking the plunge and upgrading my uk wifi xoom to ics, but have a couple of questions that i am struggling to find conclusive answers to(probably due to my lack of intelligence!!)
I have seen some mentions from varying places that the iplayer app and website no longer work. i can do without the app but websites like iplayer and itvplayer are essential for me. Can anyone who has upgraded let me know if it works?
Will i be able to download uk specific apps from the marketplace? Also, is there a way to get it to fully support UK English language, i.e keyboard and spelling etc?
Lastly can anyone recomend a good guide for switching from uk 3.2 honeycomb to ics? easiest way possible is best for me!!
Thanks in advance for any help.
Right, I've just dropped onto the bbc.co.uk/iplayer site and it says phone not supported, now this might be a simple case of changing the user string thing in the browser but I dont know.
However, I can click on the "request desktop site" option in the browser and it loads the page and I can play the video, probably as I have Adobe Air installed which iirc is what the BBC site uses.
ITV player app is also coming up as not compatible with my device.
But also works under the stock browser when "request desktop site" is selected.
Not sure about the UK specific apps, give me an example and I'll have a look.
English spelling seems to be fine, I use Swiftkey as my keyboard but all the language stuff for UK seems to be there after picking English (UK) during the initial setup.
Thanks for the help.
i use the iplayer app, and things like sky news and sky sports apps.
do iplayer and itvplayer work in other browsers? i use opera quite a lot.
i use the default keyboard, hopefully that will have a uk layout after changing the settings.
Can you post a link to the instructions you used to update? would prefer stock ics if possible. If i do update and i run into problems is it possible to back to honeycomb 3.2?
sorry for all the questions, your hepl is really appreciated.

The ITV Player app is compatible with ICS, you can download the app with a quick Google search. BBC iPlayer app is not though.
IT may just be me, but I have had no success with Flash in Opera.
As for the browser, download ICS Browser + from the Market. It's the stock browser with some enhancements, such as user agent setting, which saves you having to request the desktop site every time you start the Browser. I used to default to Opera, but with ICS Browser + I very rarely use it, only for the occasional download that will not download through either the stock browser or ICS Browser +
I checked the iPlayer, ITV Player, 4OD and Demand 5 to check their compatibility with ICS Browser + and all worked fine. I am currently running the latest Eos Nightly so cannot comment on compatibility with other ICS Roms.
The default keyboard does indeed have a UK layout and dictionary.
To provide a link to a guide, we need a bit more info. Is your Xoom rooted for instance?

Thanks,
My xoom is not rooted, and i would like to stick to stock roms if possible.
^^ that prettymuch sums it up, and yes, you can if your Xoom is setup accordingly do a nandroid backup and then CWM the ICS nightly onto your machine and if it goes tits up revert back to the backup/HC.

You know, I never thought of this when I updated mine to ics using the US flash method
But I can't get either to work on mine now must be with it thinking its a US Xoom now and not letting me play any content
I can get the apps using the browser to access the market but neither will install
I have tried ics browser and that won't play anything either
If I flash back to HC and use one of the roms instead will I get this feature back
Thanks
Dean

Ahh if I use ics browser and choose desktop mode it will play BBC I player so all is not lost.
Will still ago back to UK ics when its released tho
So I can have the official apps
i have flashed the us ics image, all seems good. Only slight annoyance is the iplayer website etc seem a bit buggy, wondering if that is a flash issue maybe?!
Thanks to those who have helped/given me advice.
one thing i am unsure od though is wether i should relock the bootloader now i have finished. any idvice on the pros/cons of doing so?
Iplayer works fine here in the UK on US ICS with Browser+. Needed to install flash from the Market though.
I have a UK WiFi only Xoom, rooted with ICS (from the US Motorola Image)
BBC iPlayer works FINE on the stock browser - you just need to do one thing to get it working, but each time you visit the page after a reboot/cache wipe.
By default, the BBC don't recognise the Xoom (as someone above pointed out, the UAString is not known).
However, click the 3 dots button (top right of screen) and select "Request Desktop Site".
The page will reload, and iPlayer will work (assuming you have also downloaded Flash Player 11)...
Enjoy
(just noticed jester27 had found this too)

Chrome Bata
I did find Google Chrome and have provided a download link for your testing: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/54456659/chrome.apk. Looks like it will not support the Flash Player plugin I just installed. Also, it also has the same behavior as my desktop version of Chrome. Crashes under heavy load. Although it is a fast browser.

Here is a universal how to install Flash Player:
[HOW TO] Install Flash Player 11.1.115.16 4.0+ Support Noob (Simple) Version
We have heard people having luck with 1Mobile Ad Blocker integrating into Silk, here is a link: http://www.1mobile.com/ad-blocker--data-toggle-trial-84035.html
If we understand you correctly, you would like to install Flash Player on the Kindle Fire HD 7" Silk Browser - this is from Amazon directly:
About Flash Support
Adobe Flash content is not supported on Kindle Fire HD. When viewing multimedia-intensive websites on your Kindle Fire, you can switch to the mobile version of the website for better performance.
To switch to mobile view:
From the Silk browser, tap the Menu icon at the bottom or right side of the screen.
Tap Settings.
Under General, tap Requested website view and then select Mobile.

RhysTheExiled,
Yes, that is not acceptable, so desktop mode does not work well with the Kindle. If you like the features of Silk, try these two Browsers:
1. Boat Browser: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.boatbrowser.free&hl=en
2. Opera Mobile Browser: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.opera.browser&hl=en
They both have native Flash support and are solid browsers, we feel they are better than Silk Browser - let us know what you think.

Flash Sites : Use Firefox + Flash Apk

I was using Flash.apk+ Old Dolphin Web browser for a while to open flash sites, but I tested latest Mobile Firefox today an I discovered it actually support Flash Sites. Among a very accurate page rendering (reason why I tried it again, and it's by far better than mobile chrome or safari).
So now I'm using it again on my desktop too.
Note that chrome-banned adblock it's a plug in available for Firefox and works awesome.
Very stable and does a perfect rendering plus tons of plug ins available does a perfect replace was main browser (only lacks gesture control btw I can live w/o it for a while).
You can find it on the android market. And Flash. apk at Adobe flash download.

Works well with Boat here. Not sure if I want to switch to Firefox to be honest.
Or stock, although don't use stock much at all.
Yes, not ready to switch from chrome(stock), but at least it's by far better solution than Dolphin for flash sites, also for some sites with poor rendering on chrome (as some e-commerce).

It works but there are lags too much.

KitKat and Adobe Flashplayer - Can anyone reported success?

Is there anyone who gets flash running under 4.4. The things and hints i've gotten by searching Google doesn't work. I've also tried the forums search without success. Please don't kill me if i've overlooked anything.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
ART
it has to do with art, not with 4.4 (i think)
as the rest of apps that does not work with art, the only thing we can do is wait for a next mini update to kitkat to get ART fixed.
try if it does work with dalvik (if it does not, then adobe flash player is not compatible with 4.4 simply because the package file cant run in kit kat.)
i will look out the flash apk later now i am busy
It's not dependent on ART since I'm still on dalvik as runtime environment. I've two or three web pages which use embedded flash videos. And one of them is a daily news site. So I'm probably one of the few who miss this support.

Good point - forgot their implementation. So I checked it out - I uninstalled the plugin and Flash did still work with Puffin so it is the server side.

Does work on my nexus 7 - should work on the moto, as well.
Flash plugin support ended with ICS. Worked for Jelly Bean versions, but it stopped working with KitKat some reason, on dalvik and art. Server sided flash browsers will still work, like Puffin and Photon.
Without anymore mobile flash plugins, it most likely will no longer work. Shame because I like chrome and aosp browser.
