Look for the SBF of the firmware version you had here: http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone2
Copy and search the MD5 here to download: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_milestone2/list.php
Follow instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032372&highlight=recover
If you are not sure, tell me which android version you had and from which operator (o retail) it was.
If you are not sure about the last, tell me your country and keyboard type.
Good luck.

i think you should flash stock GB rom, for example this one: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umt...LE2GBQWRTGB_P016_A006_HWp2a_Service1FF.sbf.gz
rather than stock FROYO
if you live in europe, doesn't really matter if you flash british, french or italian rom, my MS2 was purchased in italy but i flashed british rom and it works fine.
perhaps you have similar problem to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1369926

Try renaming the SBF to something more simple (like froyo.sbf) and put it in the root of the drive (C:\)
Also, this may be a silly question, but, did you unzip it? The sbf comes compressed as a .sbf.gz file, unzippable with 7zip or WinRAR (or similar).
Did you boot successfuly into bootloader mode? (The black screen with weird text)
Good luck

Yes I unzipped. And have got to bootloader and stock recovery. Stock recovery wipe doesn't stop bootloop. Do you mean place SBF in root of PC drive?

Exactly. Then load it in RSD Lite and try again.
Sometimes RSD doesn't like long file paths.

I found out that error 0x7029 usually related that the .sbf file is not in the C:\ root folder. So I moved it there.
Then I couldn't hit "start" after selecting the .sbf file because "start" was greyed out. I found a post here explaining how to fix it.
Follow his steps completely and it'll solve this problem.
Give RSD a little time to see your phone too. The first time I ran it, I had to wait about a minute until it populated, now it comes right up. I had a terrible time getting it to work though... Just keep tryin'!

2.2.1 SBF for Motorola Bravo

Anything YOU do to YOUR phone is not my fault, please proceed with caution
To apply:1. Download RSD Lite, Drivers, and .sbf files from below
2. Install RSD Lite
3. Open RSD Lite as administer (hold shift, right-click on RSD Lite, select Run as administer)
4. Unzip the .gz and extract the .sbf
5. In RSD Lite, browse for the .sbf and select it.
6. Power your phone into the bootloader (hold volume up and power on, should be a black screen with white text)
[If the bootloader screen says Cannot program, your battery is too low to apply .sbf]
7. Plug phone in and run the driver installer
8. RSD should recognize your phone now
9. Select you phone and press Start
10. Wait for it to finish
Whatever you do, do not unplug your phone from computer or disconnect them in any way
Note: If you bootloop and are stuck at the red M logo, you need to wipe data in stock recovery. To do that, hold the volume down button and continue holding it when you power up the phone. Then, once you see the triangle and android, press both volume buttons at the same time. After that, scroll down and select wipe data/factory reset.

Couldn't Update So I Used A Stock Froyo SBF and RSDLite 4.8
My Bravo was rooted. So, every time I tried to update it, I got the triangle/exclamation mark thing. There was probably a way around that, but I don't know enough about hacking phones.
Instead, I flashed (at least I think that it was a case of flashing some sort of ROM... I really don't know) a stock version of Android 2.2.1 onto my Bravo, and it worked like a charm.
Now I need to go about figuring out how to root it again, but that's a headache for another day...
I tried to post the link to the SBF download, but this forum wouldn't let me. So, you'll have to find it on your own.

Look on Youtube for this video "Flashing SPRecovery SBF File to a Motorola Droid."
I just used those instructions to install a stock Froyo SBF on my Bravo using RSD-Lite. Of course, when dude in the video says to press up on some button on the keypad, you will press up on the volume rocker instead.
I would post the link, but this thing won't allow it.

Yes, and I did follow all of the steps as they were written. I've been encountering the same problem ever since I received the message that there was an update available.
It keeps saying "E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command" whenever I try to run the installation (for the update).
For the RSD Lite program, I keep getting this error: "Failed flashing process. Failed flashing process. Unable to retrieve initialization values from INI file. (0x7029); phone connected"
I have no idea what's wrong. I've tried every solution posted on this board as well as Motorola's site, AT&T's site, and countless hours spent searching Google for an answer/solution.

Well, that's the first error to show up before I select "apply sdcard:update.zip"
After I select that, this is exactly what comes up:
-- Install from sdcard...
..Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to read footer from /sdcard/update.zip
(Is a directory)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
That's exactly everything that comes up when I select "apply sdcard:update.zip" at the Android system recovery <2e> screen.

[HELP] Milestone 2 bricked (SBF Not Working, No Recovery, No Battery Charge)

Hey i will try to be as precise as possible. I'm posting in this section because in the general section the help isn't as effective as here.
Here is my problem:
A few days ago i flashed GB MIUI on my Milestone 2 everything worked perfectly and i used the phone a whole day. That night i've put the phone to charge and went to bed. Il the morning when i push the power button the phone didn't boot. I was stuck at the first M bootscreen (Red at the time).
I wasn't able to do anything no recovery the phone didn't seem to be charging so i decided to flash Stock FR SBF (One i used many times)
Once completed i let the phone tying to Boot for about one hour. After that i pulled the battery out and tried to get to recovery but no success. Holding the X button while booting wasn't getting me to recovery because the wouldn't get pass the First Moto bootscreen (Recovery open after that).
So i've flashed since then a handful of SBF from and-developpers:
2.2 FR
2.2 CH
2.2 UK
2.2.2 FR
2.2.2 CH
2.2.2 UK
2.2.2 Hong Kong
2.2 China
Official GB Leak signed
Still wasn't able to get throught the first moto bootscreen.
r2beta0 had an idea so if someone can please help me get through this. I think i'm done with flashing things...
r2beta0 said:
Hmm, I just had an idea that needs elaboration. As we know we can flash any partition of the phone using sbf_flash or RSD Lite. If his problem really can be solved doing a data wipe it would be also solved by flashing a new "empty" CG37.smg. It doesn't need to be signed because /data is not checked by bootloader. So, we need a Milestone2 /data empty image (CG37.smg). One could do a data wipe and take the image of with dd command, but it would be a HUGE file (6,5 GB). I don't know if we can use a smaller file just to clean his /data. Maybe someone can elaborate that.

Maybe you can flash a modded SBF, with a modded CG37 and a new CG that points to addresses from the middle of data to its end, and make two partitions with data spare space for the dual booting project, is that even possible?
Well, at least when you pack and zip it the SBF won't be hard to upload.
PS: Does the Milestone 1 full SBFs have the data CG included?

I tried holding X button while i plug the phone the Wall charger but no sucess either. I just can't get to the screen with the Exclamation point...
I've tried to be as precise as possible to help people who will or already tried to help me. Please don't delete my thread or move it after i've put so much effort in this...
I've search in hundreads of threads around different forum XDA is my last chance...
I thanks everyone who will take some time to help me or even at least read this.
I don't know if this is going to help, but you could try that anyway:
- Download MotoAndroidDepacker (utility to unpack/repack SBF's)
- Choose one stock SBF (2.2 FR for example)
- Open and unpack it with the utility
- Rename CG66.smg to CG37.smg (you are going to use preinstall image as data image, both are ext3, but has different sizes. Don't know if it's going to work).
- Use utility to open folder with unpacked images and repack it
- Put phone in bootloader mode and flash the repacked SBF (rebuilt/firmware.sbf)
- Post results here

Something is very wrong with your phone. I think your best bet is to reflash stock SBF and send your phone to warranty.
Did you try other options "dumb"? For example, change the simcard, change the sdcard, charge the battery with other alternative (universal charger)

I'm sending it monday morning i'm really hoping for a solution before than...
Im not sure about service sbf vs the one that wipes user data. We have that kind of sbf for m2?
On the other side, looks like ROM chip go bad.
I'll ask some obvious question...you did not have any errors when flashing ? it always complete the process? Can you get into the bootloader when it print version 70.12 or 70.13 ?
Another obvious thing, did you verify md5 after downloading sbf ?

So it happenned both to us when we intalled MIUI so the problem is MIUI. Because i was using CM7 since Endless7 post the instruction avec Defy's ROM. And the phone was perfect...
We both have French Milestone 2 and i don't think it is my fault. I quite shure i did everything straight. I maybe a noob in dev or other things. But I have experience in flashing things...
My bootloader is 70.12 so it's different than Alex. And i used just like Alex the French Stock sbf i used everything i needed a freash clean install
When i flash i get to the "Please reboot phone manually" like everytime and then pull the battery go to bootloader and get finish
I had problems with miui too. After install MIUI and try back to MS2Ginger, phone dont boot, stuck at the first M bootscreen. So I try a full wipe and same problem, stuck at the first M. Mine bootloader was 70.12, so I flash the 70.13 and the spanish 2.2.2 sbf, and after a data and cache wipe, phone boot again.
Note: After flash a sbf, I dont remove the battery and pull again to get "Pass" on RSD Lite... just waiting to finish the process and disconnect the phone

My phone is supposed to have the 70.12 bootloader right? If i flash the new one won't the repair center see that i modified the software?
The is no 70.12 bootloader on and-developper so how do i get back?
My phone doesn't not get to PASS it never did even in past... Except when i could do a wipe data and cache before flash
If you flash the 70.13 you do not be able to back to 70.12, so think before. When RSD is in reboot your phone 30%, I always remove my phone and never have problems
If you want try, here is the 70.13
The bootloader for the sbf 2.2.2 is 70.13 ! I remenber well, i did the official update on a windows pc, and it started by updating bootloader! But it's good news and may be just some sort of sbf incompatibility with the bootloader...just find the correct ones?

MS2 reboot only in Bootloader!

Hello,
I have a big problem. I misplaced my MS2 with a customrom Droid 2 installed. after which the phone is stuck at Moto logo, I wanted to flash it with RSD Lite again. But unfortunately it has made all the worse. The screen then remained always black. By accident I found out that the master is always handy in the bootloader if I make the battery clean. the RSD Lite detects it again and then when I want to flash an SBF file he does it without problems. only then if he should make a reboot it ends up back in the bootloader. but i can´t see the bootloader. I know not what to do yet.
can anyone help me?
thank you
greeting
I didn't get quite right the situation but tell me which sbf are you using?
Is it the same android version that was before?
Have you tried pulling off the battery, waited 10 seconds, hold vol + and vol - (or X and arrow up, depending on android version) and powering up to enter the recovery and do a full data wipe? Does it starts normally after that?
Yes, it is the same as before sbf. I've been on it before GB and GB have also flashed.
at the first flash of sbf I'm also in the recovery menu and have a full wipe made but which has unfortunately not have shown anything.
I thought that maybe Customrom a different bootloader has been on it so I downloaded the 70.13 bootloader and flashed.
Since then I have the problem that it only comes into the bootloader, and here again but I have only a black screen.

DEFY+ BL7 Root problem

Hello,
I encounter a problem trying to root my defy+.
I've followed the information provided here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1542956 (Thread :
DFP-188, DFP-231, DFP-2311 BL7 Finally Rooted).
What i've done :
Step 1 ("Wipe phone twice") => OK
Step 2 ("Flash 4.5.1-134 DFP-231 CN or 4.5.1-134 DFP-231 Retail.en.EU CEE") => KO...
...the result is the same with both versions CN & EU, after the phone is rebooted by rsd lite, i see the M logo then the following error : err:a5,69,35,00,27.
I could make it work again flashing the version marked "Retail French" (DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-231_BLUR_SIGN_USADEFYEMARAB1B8RTFR004.0R_PDS03C_USAJRDNGIBRRTFR_P020_A024_M002_Service1FF.sbf.gz), but of course not rooted.
I tried from 3 different computers, re-downloading the sbf every time, different usb cables, different rsdlite versions....always the same result.
I hope someone will have a solution for this problem, or a way of investigating on this issue.
Here are the current information of my phone :
System : 45.0.2310.MB526.Retail.en.FR
Model : MB526
Android Version : 2.3.6
Baseband : EPU93_U_00.60.03
Kernel version : 2.6.32.9-ge281b6e [email protected] #1
Build number : 4.5.1-134_DFP-231
Thank you.
I having successfully rooted and installed ICS on my defy plus having BL7. I have followed the guide provided in this forum -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1595013
Following are the links from that forum itself, which I followed to root my defy plus (to save your time, but read the forum once).
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/aucmzwd8nk5eeaz/zOCaGf2a1w/BL7 Root (to download the sbf files)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1595013&page=9#88 (step by step procedure for rooting)
thanks for your answer, but these guides & binaries are the same as one provided in the link i put.
I really read ALL forum information here i could before posting this question.
Sorry, I didn't check that. There might be some problem with the sbf itself, there were several users reporting the problem in that forum. Try to download the sbf from the location which I gave to you. Yesterday, I unrooted my phone and install the official stock ROM for my defy plus, because I have to give my phone to service center again. I tried around five ROM before actually getting the phone work. You can give a try once more.
Check out easyrecovery in the defy dev forum.

The file i get as corrupted is the one from the second link (dropbox place : https://www.dropbox.com/sh/aucmzwd8nk5eeaz/zOCaGf2a1w/BL7 Root)
The first link ( thread "[success!]defy bl7 root! " http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1595013), points to the same file (http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umt..._USAJRDNGIBRIRD15_P015_A030_Service1FF.sbf.gz) linked by the thread i used in the first place. Still i redownloaded and made a comparaison with the one i previously downladed & test => perfect match
try this

They are the files from the thread "DFP-188, DFP-231, DFP-2311 BL7 Finally Rooted", that i tried in the first place (cf my 1st post).
Moreover, a friend of mine, who has the defy+ too, successfully rooted his phone this way and couldn't do more than i did on my defy+.
I was wondering if a rooted sbf for my stock rom version (retail french) allready exists, and if not how possible i can create such a thing ? (unless someone tells me i go in a bad direction)
ok

Yes it's unlocked (i allready used it with different phone companies, in france & abroad) and retail (i have the box under my eyes written "Type : MVQ7 - 334411D11 (Retail)" and the system string "45.0.2310.MB526.Retail.en.FR" seems to confirm that point)

I think there might be some problem with the name of the zip in windows(characters limit for naming the folder). Are you using windows? Since I faced the same thing with other ROMs for my Galaxy device. Use Ubuntu or rename the zip file.

What error does winrar throws while extracting? I will try to upload the files somewhere in the cloud, which I used for my device and will give you the link tomorrow.

It was a crc error, and winrar like 7zip announce a sbf file decompresed size of 3.6Gb....which looked strange even before trying to extract.

I tried it, but after few minutes it gives server error. However, I am uploading the files somewhere else. It will hardly take 30 mins. I will reply again when everything is ready with the link.
