[Q] Is there any way to have screen hotspots to show/hide the navigation bar? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Would this require a rom customization or just an app with root privs?
Thanks

yup, but
Try paranoid ROM. It allows to hide nav/status bar from holding power button to select.
Also, many ROMs are built with tablet ui, this essentially combines the status bat into the nav bar
Paranoid allows switching between and customizingall these options. See my sig pic for more details

Power Control Toggle in Notification Bar

Is there a way to have something like this on the Arc?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9885714
It is possible, *sort of*.
Widgetoid 2.x does exactly this (and lots more), but unfortunately due to a restriction in andoid you cannot directly toggle settings from the notification bar, so it opens up a popup instead.
To do it directly we will have to wait for a custom rom, e.g. cyanogen, with it included.
Is this what your looking for?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1037817
Sent from my X10i TripNMiUI using XDA App
It will be great if a dev can port the power control widgets to the arc..
instead of installing apps which just create link to a popup on the notification screen, I want the ability to toggle from the notification screen directly.

Click to collapse
Yes. There are a few ways you can do that. The app at http://ppareit.github.com/HideBar/ will allow you to hide the status bar by selecting it from the notifications, and you can show it again by tapping at the bottom of the screen.
The SGT7 Rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1788518) also gives an option for toggling the status bar if you hold the power button down. I stopped using HideBar after I installed this rom, because I get re-activating the status bar by accident when I had to press the bottom of the screen in a game, and the option for showing the bar when pressing the top and bottom wasn't very responsive.
The Roo case does a pretty good job of covering the Nav bar.
Thinking of trimming 1/8" off just so the Nav bar is usable.

AOKP disbale navigation bare on home

Hello I have this problem that my navigation bare just keeps on being there even though I'm on the homescreen see attachment. I'm running AOKP build 4, how to disable the navigation bare on home screen.
it makes not much sense my friend. you want to disable the navigation bar, like hiding it completely including buttons, for your homescreen alone? why would you want to that? if you meant that really you wanted to make it transparent but youre left with the impression of a bar then thats because you have shadows activated in your launcher, you must switch them off.
ahh
ahh edit
Links status bar and navbare was enableled in general setting and transperency under aokp rom

[Guide] Add Navbar button to expand notification shade [no root]

None of this is my work, I just compiled a few different pieces of advice from others. Ever since I started using devices from OEMs that provide a way to do this, I've always enabled it.
Desired outcome: Having a Navbar button that expands the notification shade. (See screenshot)
Follow this XDA article to install and enable Custom Navigation Bar
Install the application Expand Statusbar from the Play Store
Open Expand Statusbar and set the default action to "Notifications"
Open Custom Navigation Bar and in the Navigation Bar settings, add an extra right or left button (your preference). Give it an icon (I chose Chevron down, your preference)
Map it to launch an app, choose Expand Statusbar
???
Profit!
Custom Navigation Bar is supposed to support Tasker profiles, so the ideal solution is having a Tasker Task toggle mapped to the button. I couldn't get it working on DP1 though, others may have more success. If you find a way to get it working through Tasker, post in here and I'll update the original post with alternate instructions.

Quick Settings for Touchwiz like AOSP

The truth is that it bothers me a little to have to press the button on the navigation bar to open the quick settings. Is there a way or mod to slide the notification bar like in ROMS AOSP to access the quick options?
