What are the things you guys use to manage your ram?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2

Nothing. Ram management apps are horrible and actually worsen battery because apps keep restarting. Plus you got 2 gigs of ram, No big deal!

Nothing. RAM managers have been unnecessary at best and harmful at worst since (may be off a bit here...) Android 2.3.

RAM, not ROMs
Anyway, I use nothing. Never have. Don't see the point.

what everyone else said lol

Everytime I see someone I know with a new phone that has Advanced Task Killer installed or some other ridiculous similar app I immediately grab their phone, uninstall it, and give them a lecture about how stupid the programs are and how everyone who works at a carrier store has the IQ of a jar of mayonnaise. (every time I see someone running it, they always say, "but the guy at the *insert carrier store* told me that it saves battery life and makes my phone faster)

Nothing it is than, I was using a minfree on my blaze and seem to work... In my opinion but it wasn't a nexus. I'll keep it without anything. Thanks

For starters i agree with what you said about 50%. I work for a T-Mobile Store and not everyone that works for a carrier is has the IQ of a jar of mayonnaise. I do however think a lot of people are. I am one of the very few people that i know around me at work that know wtf root/unlock is a for a android phone. I make sure that every dumbass person that comes into my store leaves knowing that a adv task killer is a waste for newer android phone. I tell people this when i see it installed. Also to add if you tell people that thats what you think when you talk to them in a retail world, have fun getting help when it comes to something that you need help with. Because if it was me that you said that to, I would of stopped right there and said find someone else to give your BS to.

2.2 was the BIG milestone. Before that Android couldn't recognize more than 256 MB RAM. Crazy.

Oh I know there are the few out there that actually know stuff about Android, the guys at my preferred T-Mobile store all do. T-Mobile seems to be the exception in general And I would never actually say it in that way to a representative, I would be nicer about it.

Amen. Agree. You should never use a task killer.swipe away in recent, force close if need be but do it manually. You can dictate startup in paid ROM manager(jrummy is dev genius) it's much like MSCONFIG in windows. Google it for why.

The BB Playbook will run android apps.... I'm so getting one that thing is sexy
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/...k-to-run-Android-apps/articleshow/7473802.cms
RIM plans to integrate the technology with the PlayBook operating system, giving customers access to Android's more than 130,000 apps, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the effort isn't public. RIM, after looking outside the company, is developing the software internally and may have it ready in the second half, two people said.

Why waste thousands of dollars on trying to figure out how to run apk files, when you can simply install AOSP honeycomb, and have it look 1000x better.

I think this is great. I'm curious to see if it actually follows through and how they will put the Android market on it... that's my biggest question. Seems unlikely to have a device with two market places.

If they follow through I'd buy one, always wanted a tablet that wasn't a Tab or an iPad. Having two markets isn't that ridiculous. Isn't there a way for people with rooted phones/jailbroken iPhones that can install the other's market on them?

What makes you say RIMs OS is horrible? The new QNX based OS looks great. It's funny that you are a WebOS fan, and wouldn't be interested in the PlayBook. They are extremely similar in terms of UI.
I've only read great things about their new OS. If you have some articles saying otherwise, I'd be very interested to see it.

[Q] Anyone get annoyed with apps with adds?

Anyone getting annoyed by the fact that everytime you flash a new rom there is alot of apps that nice that are in it but you have to pay for them so they serve no use along with some using a theme launcher that you also have to pay for cause if you try to uninstall it it's built into the rom and will mess your phone up. Alot of apps are asking for too many permissions that arn't needed and some ads out there snatch up your phone number and spam the crap outta it.
What apps are you talking about? And yeah I agree I hate ads myself but I don't like adfree neitheir cause at the and always end up removing the host file
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
On the market anything free demo wise is full of adds and some ask for too much permission to use along with apps that are included in roms. Be nice if some of the folks that designed there roms also made there own themes instead of putting a bunch of stuff on there that you have to buy to use. Just wondering who is annoyed with it thats all ...
I agree with you on the add free app.

My internet was really really slow when I was on network or wifi. A member suggested me to install Adfree and download the host files. I did that and it solved my internet problems but now I can't play words with friends because it blocks the ads.
I can't take a L in 18 active games I have going on. What should I do?

You need to erase the host file
Buy root explorer (android market) really good app for root phones to
Open the app, give it super user permissions, and go to system, etc and look for the host file erase it and reboot that should fix it
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Adfree outweighs the hassle of ads IMHO. Everytime I try and use an ad supported app just to get interrupted by bumping an ad and opening up the browser, it just plain sucks. Ill stop using android if I have to look at ads all day.

Why do you feel the need to post this here? Don't mean to come off as an a-hole, but no one cares if you've changed to the iphone, so you gave up a locked down phone for an even more locked down phone that isn't nearly as customizable or fun to use, over some rumors. Im kinda glad you've changed phones now that I think of it.

So I assume this has something to do with P3Droids comments on Verizon "tracking" rooted phones right? (dude deleted the original post)
If your going to read into things like these, you have to keep up with them. If this guy would have, he would have known that Verizon currently can't actually see that your phone is rooted.
They HAVE implemented a way to see if your tethering in the new GB release. I think this is 100% acceptable for them to do. Period.
As for getting an iPhone. I'm not going to sit here and bash the phone. I may not like it as much as I do an Android phone, but everyone must admit the iPhone has some pros, like battery life. Everyone I know who has one has amazing battery life. This goes for Apple computers as well. Apple has it right with batteries.
Anywho, just thought I'd put my two cents in.
I guess the OP wants a phone that can't multitask and doesn't even have wallpaper. Good for him.

I certainly didn't switch TO android because it could do flash.
And I sold phones for a long time and no customer ever told me they chose android because of flash compatibility.

Some did, but they switched for the wrong reason. I'm sure google has a planned HTML5 or something along the lines better than flash for the impending future. To remove something 'crucial' and NOT have a plan to replace it, is asinine. I'm not worried at all.

Other than asking my phone dumb stuff like "what is the meaning of life?" I do have any real need for Siri-like apps. Maybe if I used my phone while driving or something. What these apps need is an uncanny ability to answer any meaningless question I could come up with. That will sell me.

Question about vibrant ram

So I bought a vibrant 3g on Craigslist. I love it, its especially fantastic running passion ICS. But in settings>apps>running its only showing about 330mb of ram, about 200 of which is currently being used. I had an LG P500 Optimus T before this phone and both phones ate supposed to have 512mb of ram. But they usually don't show all 512, I.e. my O1 always showed about 450 of ram all together if that sounds right? Idk if the previous owner of this phone messed it up or not or whether it even needs needs to be fixed at all. Please let me know if anyone knows anything about this issue, thank you.

Well this happens because the OS it self needs ram to run an also the parts of the phone take up ram like the camera takes ram the Gpu takes up ram those are the only two i know of but it really doesn't matter but it does affect performance a little but hopefully google can slim down OS

the vibrants ram criples the phone. My cuzins infuse 4g with about 100 more free ram functions much better than my vibrant. it doesnt "hang" to free up ram and it can multitask 10 light apps instead of 4 or five like the vibrant. I love my vibrant, but my flash videos crashing and my fb app hanging just to free ram makes me pissed. dont even get me started on browser start up. Runing simply stock over here (better than simply honey and lighter).
