Question about vibrant ram - Vibrant General

So I bought a vibrant 3g on Craigslist. I love it, its especially fantastic running passion ICS. But in settings>apps>running its only showing about 330mb of ram, about 200 of which is currently being used. I had an LG P500 Optimus T before this phone and both phones ate supposed to have 512mb of ram. But they usually don't show all 512, I.e. my O1 always showed about 450 of ram all together if that sounds right? Idk if the previous owner of this phone messed it up or not or whether it even needs needs to be fixed at all. Please let me know if anyone knows anything about this issue, thank you.

Well this happens because the OS it self needs ram to run an also the parts of the phone take up ram like the camera takes ram the Gpu takes up ram those are the only two i know of but it really doesn't matter but it does affect performance a little but hopefully google can slim down OS

Thanks y'all, I did a few Google searches and that's exactly what they said.
Another quick question; passion ICS is amazing on this phone but sometimes, occasionally, the touchscreen is unresponsive on the lock screen. Does anyone know any reasons why? Or any solutions to it? I've been looking around but I can't figure it out for the life if me. Thanks and God bless y'all.

I'm having the same issue, and im sure everyone else on V10 is too i hope it gets fixed in a update soon.
Meanwhile, if it happens, just lock your screen and unlock it again and that should fix it for that time.

the vibrants ram criples the phone. My cuzins infuse 4g with about 100 more free ram functions much better than my vibrant. it doesnt "hang" to free up ram and it can multitask 10 light apps instead of 4 or five like the vibrant. I love my vibrant, but my flash videos crashing and my fb app hanging just to free ram makes me pissed. dont even get me started on browser start up. Runing simply stock over here (better than simply honey and lighter).

first of all, it's dual, not duel. a duel is when you offend some bloke and then you shoot at each other, or stab each other to death. or be girls and slap each other with white gloves.
anyway, this phone is fast. loading pages cannot be a benchmark, since that depends on your connection. try playing some games, or using some cpu intensive apps. you'll see the difference.
and try not to troll. i mean wtf, your nexus one is faster than this phone. to quote the post above, as it really hits the spot: seriously!?
I don’t know if this is where you are seeing the difference.
I had a HTC legend and when scrolling web pages with a lot of images, I could never see the checker box appear. But in the SGS2 I see the checker box appear quite often, perhaps it's just me or the way the phone is set up, but either way it does not annoy me.
But when it comes to sheer speed the SGS2 eats the legend a million times over. The most noticeable difference can be seen when installing apps, the SGS2 is blazing fast!!

HTC Legend uses a CPU browser, while GS2 uses a GPU browser making it way smoother, but checkerboxes appears.
Download Opera Mobile or Dolphin HD or something to make the checkerboxes disappear.

Theres an andriod phone that does not have checkered boxes? I thought that was only in safari!
I can assure you that my sgs2 on 800mhz max cpu speed will out bench your nexus one any day.

you could try flashing a newer version see if it helps.
go to menu > settings > about
and look at the "baseband" field to see what your current radio is.
should have a number like "KF2" or something

yes you will need to learn how to use ODIN and then use it to flash a newer modem and keep trying till you find the one that works best.

Don't be put off! Odin is an app that you run on your PC, you connect your phone in download mode (turn off then hold down volume down, home and power), download a file and then click a couple of buttons.
It's a doddle, as long as you follow instructions.
Now, finding the correct thing to flash to your phone is a different matter completely!
Yeah don’t be put off. Rooting is easy. I was also scared at first, but it's basically a 30 second process. Try CF-Root, it's easy, just make sure you download the correct firmware for the rooting process.

[Bounty] $50 for a wifi calling echo fix

Straight up. I am currently using ZenDroid 2.1.1, but have encountered this problem on several roms and so have others. The person on the other side gets a horrible echo. I just moved to a house where my reception is horrible, and I need this to work properly. My wife and I both have vibrants.
The bottom line - be the first to deliver to me a non echoing, functional t-mobile wifi calling app for froyo, and I Paypal you $50. I prefer to have it work on zen droid, but if there is no other way, I will change to another froyo rom to have this work properly. I just have to confirm it has fixed my problems before payment, and $50 is yours. No BS.
Anyone up to the challenge?

Did you see the info that Lotherius posted in my thread on this? Its under your last posts, looks like its a definite app problem, although turning the volume down on your earpiece may give you a work around solution.
I'm on Asgard and folks tell me there's no echo, which is a first. Give it a whirl?

Yeah I saw it, what I am looking for now is actually to get the app fixed , if someone has the time...
Everything he said makes sense, and I will have to try the volume thing to see how it works. I posted this before I saw what he said on the ZenDroid thread.
As far as the incentive, I think it is a good idea. I am totally not trying to be a smartass, when I say it would not be the first time something unfixable on this phone was fixed by some great minds on this forum. I'm trying to motivate someone to try and overcome a difficult, perhaps insurmountable obstacle.

NP, and, certainly not trying to push. I am not an EDT fanboy, but I have tried at least 8-10 2.3.4-2.3.5 ROMs, just about giving up, and saying Nexus Prime is prolly less than 2 months away. On a final whim I tried Asgard, and with this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239713
despite myself, I actually have working GPS that is equal to or better than any FroYo ROM I have used. I am on my 3rd replacement Vib. and the first 2 sucked wind as far as GPS went, so I KNOW bad GPS. I saw another poster (and I should have bookmarked the quote) say something to the effect that anything that could possibly be a GB bug he has managed to experience on his Vib. +1... The problem is that no 2 phones are the same, so YMMV, but I am now, albeit reluctantly, a believer that GB can have awesome GPS. Just my 4 cents.
I use my gps on a daily basis as a must for my business and im on miui revamped and have been for a couple months..these guys have got the gps goin on,its fast, accurate and i haven't driven off a cliff or into the ocean yet.
So if your sticking with froyo for that reason....your missing out.
Good luck with your wifi calling endeavour

Thanks nick. Is a form of wifi calling working on miui? Did not think it was, guess its the only thing keeping me off it now. Things changed for me moving to the new place, but after a few hiccups, the studio should be at 100% in about two weeks. Its always something, right?
I would have tried your rom earlier, but I just lack the time to do the switching around nowadays. Had to go back to froyo and stay for awhile.

Also its not simple for someone to "just get on it" plus this phone is slowly dieing with all the new Galaxy phones coming out.
And what type of dual boot do you want? Have Google and WM7? Or two different Google roms?

It would be nice to have dual boot. In my case, I love CM7, but I hate not having WiFi Calling. It would be nice to be able to dual boot CM7 and Bionix so that when I needed WiFi Calling, it was only a reboot away.
I use cm7 as well. I use Google voice with wifi calling. Works fine with me. But I there is dual boot I would want WM7 and droid. I had that set up on my sony x1

For starters i agree with what you said about 50%. I work for a T-Mobile Store and not everyone that works for a carrier is has the IQ of a jar of mayonnaise. I do however think a lot of people are. I am one of the very few people that i know around me at work that know wtf root/unlock is a for a android phone. I make sure that every dumbass person that comes into my store leaves knowing that a adv task killer is a waste for newer android phone. I tell people this when i see it installed.
