[DEV][HELP NEEDED] CM Kernel - Galaxy S Advance I9070 Android Development

This topic is for discussion about the cm kernel and it's related things. Please be warned that any off-topic replies will be deleted. So only post if you know what you are doing.
@Diego & hackbob : Since cody made the 2 stage kernel, cm 7 doesn't boot. But since opensource is the only way, we will have to use the same kernel and opensource libs. Now we know that for the kernel to boot, we need to fix the init. I have been playing around with the init since the past few days. No luck yet. Have you guys tried anything?
@Diego : mate, i just reverted to stock kernel for my cwm project. But i cannot get the permanent version to work. Getting the splash loops. Can you please tell me how did you build TWRP?
I mean using which source!?

[Q] Modified Kernel for Galaxy Tab

Been a while since my last post
is there any modified Kernel for the Tab ? I've seen a Galaxy S runs like a fart on youtube " 1.6 Ghz "
my question is : is this kernel adjustable for the tab ? is there a running project in XDA to make this happen ?
thanks a lot
I have compiled both the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) and the Samsung Galaxy Tab open-source code, but I'm happy with JM6 so far, and I guess I am not brave enough to flash self-compiled critical components, I had enough problems with just self-compiled apps
flashed self compiled kernel resulted in panic
I flashed a the open source basekernel with the galaxy patch from samsung and got no joy. Nothing but kernel panic. Fortunately I was able to flash the original zImage back. Any insight on configuration parameters to use. I just did a stock make.
How did you load the system.img and data.img out from AOSP? I've compiled and can't figure out how to load the images.
Thanks
Im actually going to wprk on making a kernel oc'd just need a few tips ive done linux kernels before but the difference is i dobt have the source does anyone have the source to sprints firmware?

If anyone actually releases a stable 1.5GHz or higher kernel, I'll definitely donate $50 for the work, and I'm sure others will too.

{I9001} CyanogenMod 10 (Ivendor) weekly compiled by PsychoGame

Hello everybody,
Before I jump into the compilation proces and uploading my build I want to ask everybody first if anybody is interested in a weekly build CM10.
I know that Ivendor is not changing his sources every week, but the base of CyanogenMod is under constant development, so changes in the CyanogenMod source will be up to date again.
Let me know if you're interested by replying to this thread.
Also if theres enough interest in a build with kernel 3.0 inside I'm also willing to upload this image as well.
Because already one person replied I'm willing to share my compiled image. After all it's already compiled.
This build is compiled against ivendors sources on his Github and the latest CyanogenMod sources which were available.
Of course this image is already tested on my phone and everything seems to work like it did on Ivendor's last build.
Because Ivendors sources haven't been changed, this build still has the same bugs as his build.
To be complete the following:
- Vsync doesn't work, because the current kernel doesn't support this yet.
- Panorama shots
- Also mobile internet has a little glitch, which only appears to happen if you have a Pin locked SIM.
Solutions to this are:
* Setting the phone into Airplane Mode and back to normal. This should load the needed module.
* A more clean solution is to use the patch provided at: d-h.st/BgH This patch can be applied through CWM.
- Also camera view is upside down, but this is not noticable in the final saved image. (Don't know if this is a new or already known bug I don't use camera that much).
You can download my build from: mediafire.com/?m765ok5mtly7l6h
You have to copy the links into you're adress bar, because I'm not yet allowed to post outside links.
If anyone has questions feel free to ask.
Greetings PsychoGame
a weekly build would be nice
i donĀ“t use the 3.0 kernel because of the not working camera
i hope it changes soon
Hereby I updated my thread and put in the links to where you can download my build.

[Q] Building Quarx' CM10.2

Hi guys,
First I want to thank Quarx for his outstanding work!
And secondly, i want to apologize for not posting this in the appropriate thread (thought about the CM10.2 thread in the developer section), which seems to be impossible since I just registered and lack the required 10 posts... I also want to apologize if some of my questions have been answered already, I employed the search function and wasn't able to find them.
I have to admit I'm a total newbie when it comes to building Android custom roms. However, I want cm10.2 on my defy+ and need PDroid-Support, so I'm currently trying to patch and build it myself.
What I've accomplished so far is fetching the 4.1.2 jellybean sources, applying the OpenPDroid patches, and compiling / building it. With the exception of the text-to-speech engine (I get the error message "google text to speech engine was terminated" on startup), which is actually not a big deal for me, everything (including PDroid) seems to work fine.
However, since my actual goal is to patch and build cm10.2, I have some questions:
1. How can I check out the correct source tree for cm10.2 using repo? I've tried "repo init -u git://github.com/Quarx2k/android.git -b cm-10.2", which doesn't seem to do the trick.
2. After checking out the source tree for cm10, I noticed that the file device/moto/jordan-common/apply_linaro.sh was missing. Does this actually mean that it's application is not neccessary (anymore) or do I have to obtain it from another (which?) source. Without really knowing what I was doing, I just tried the "apply_linaro.sh" I found via google on https://github.com/NiharG15/htc_pico_cm10...
Additional question: Reading the CM10.2 thread, I'm a little bit confused about the current state of Bluetooth / Bluetooth Audio. Does it work in some cases or doesn't it work at all? Which kernel should I use and how can I decide which kernel is used for the building proces?
Thank you in advance for your help!

Read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42584118&postcount=552 and change 'cm-10.1' to 'cm-10.2'
Again, thank you very much! So the information was there after all ...

[Q] Compile stock CM11 kernel -> bootloop

Hello together,
I hope someone maybe can help me out. In the past I comiled the standard CM11 kernel by myself. I just add a few minor tweaks for my display color calibration and so on. Nothing special.
Since CM11 I'm always stuck in a bootloop after the "Google" logo. Even if I try only the stock CM11 kernel without any changes. Same toolchain (4.7) and so on. Why is that the case?!
I hope someone, maybe from all the experiencened kernel creators here, can give me a hint where's my problem? Is it maybe something with all the SELinux stuff? It was also the case in CM10.2 if I tried to comile with modules enabled.
Help here would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Regards, Fred
OK, I answer this question myself. Just found out you have to compile the kernel inline with cyanogenmod. Sync the whole repo, initialize your device, make the changes to the kernel and compile it with make bootimage. This way I also have no need to use Anykernel script anymore.

What happened to all the yoga 2 threads from ionioni and workdowg??

Hey guys, today after a long time i came back around to this subforum to see if there are any news for my yoga 2 380f but all i found were closed threads?! wtf happened?

New TWRP 2.8.7.0 for YT2 1050 soon !
Hello !
Was CLOSED because not respected XDA rules about GPL !
Almost all work here on XDA require open source code ... he preferred to erase everything he did here instead to provide source code
About TWRP :
A recovery image does contain a Linux kernel which is under GPLv2, and the TWRP source code is under GPLv3 (see the license header in https://github.com/omnirom/android_b...d-6.0/twrp.cpp)

Can I ask what device you are using as a Base or are you building a vendor folder from scratch
Thanks for your work. Looks like you have implemented pixel finger, I will try this later

Yes, was started from scratch... should be OK for all YT2.
Also pixelflinger for _X86 are implemented, twrp works fine. ... and sure will work on stock Lenovo kernel for Android L.
Best regards.
I take it you will solve the vendor blobs as you build to find them out?
I have twrp 3.0.0-0 source so will try with that.
You said the kernel is solved? It will build if I sync your github? Have you built a kernel yet? If so what toolchain are you using? I couldn't get it to build as it could find my toolchain.
From the branch 5.1 on your github, it won't work with cm13 source?
Again thanks for your work matey

Kernel and also twrp must be compiled along with cm-12.1.
As I already said , my kernel source cannot be compiled ...( Lenovo do not provide a complete one ), but I'll update today later in order to fix all Lenovo issues.
Best regards.
New TWRP 2.8.7.0 for YT2 - 1050 ! Source code already available !
