So... What now? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I'm one of the unlucky people who could not get a Nexus 4. So what now?
When are we waiting till? When will it come back in stock? What's going to happen now? Should I kill myself?

I am in the same boat. I don't have my own credit card (Use paypal for everything) and was getting the info sent to me at 11:50, which was SUPPOSED to be before the sale. Someone jumped the gun *cough*Google*cough*
Saw the sale start, I had a 16GB N4 in my cart, at the final order process, but couldn't fill out CC info and watched them all sell before my eyes. It has been a sad day.
Oh well, best we can do now is wait it out and see when they start stocking more. I am curious to see how people review it once they start getting it tomorrow, and am looking to see if battery life meets Optimus G levels. Also this gives us time to buy accessories / wait for more to come out (Anyone else hoping for an OTG Micro SD integrated case)

I couldn't buy an N4 this morning. I have my GNex listed on ebay, sale is ending any second now. Maybe I should cancel it. Pretty frustrating.

Gonna look at trying again. Don't know why but I've not been getting any luck with the website.

I've heard many rumours about restocking, some people say Friday some people say a couple of weeks

Won't have my PayPal funds or debit card until Friday... so I had no real chance at even trying for a Nexus 4 today :/ No telling when Google will get more stock though...
Might even consider getting a Nexus 10 almost, I'm $6 short of funds in my PayPal though But I'll figure out what to even do when Friday comes along...

By restocking do you mean the 'restocking fee'.
The only reason why I am waiting for the phone is because of the restocking fee.
As soon as it goes away, I will order the nexus 4. I cant risk that might make me pay $50.
I think it will go away in 2 weeks. If it goes away in a week or this friday, it will be the best thing.

The restocking fee is part of their standard policy, and it applies to all the devices that google sells, provided you don't live in the EU or Australia. If you're in the US, its not going away.

Wait, what? The restocking fee is applied to opened and returned that aren't defective. It's nominally a charge for the repackaging they have to do. It has nothing to do with them having the phone in stock or not.

least I have time to buy a qi wireless charger and hopefully find a case that isn't the crappy bumber

I wanted to by one in the morning but arrived at work at 8.50 am and all N4s were already sold out. Bummer. Maybe it was a sign I got anyway already scared after all the bad benchmarks and the thermal throttling. I bought now the HTC OneX+ for 199 bucks and it has Jellybean. At least I have LTE and it will work fine. Still have my GNex to play with 4.2.

You could probably sell the EVO and the Arrive for the same price that the EVO 3D will be without discounts.

i know it. im tying to talk my wife into letting me use my upgrade. it still will cost me $200 for the arrive. she thinks i should just wait for the nexus to come then sell my evo. i dunno, maybe she is right. i do spend a **** ton on phones often. but i always make a profit somehow.
i just wish i had a firm date for the nexus release.

I thought we were able to stick with our upgrades man I might end up doing the same thing too, I want the nexus and I think it be out late April beginning of may, if the phone gets past the timeline it will interfire with evo 3D most likely June (iPhone face off ha ha) so I'm hoping is sooner then later I love my evo but the nexus s is really good looking device a bit smaller, better screen and hummingbird will be good for another year or so

If you pre order the nexus s won't you get it as upgrade price... Since you can't really pre order unless you are eligible for an upgrade?
This way you can lock in the price of nexus s, and use the upgrade before they take it away?

Ha ha right? I'm still wondering about that, but not man there data speeds are faster then sprint but latency is always higher so looking a web pages is not that faster, just like att I been all around never been halide then with sprint, besides the ****ty phones (Echo) they come out with sometimes

This may be off topic, but I too fell into your situation and had to upgrade to my Evo before the April 1 deadline. I was able to jump in the best buy buyback program for free.
So this is what is spurring my question. When I look at what the retail price for phones on bb.com compared to sprint's retail prices, bestbuy is almost $100-200 more. (e.g. sprint Evo $450/ BB Evo $600) Has anyone tried to get them to pricematch sprint when buying a phone at retail price? If you go to bestbuy's pricematch policy the first FAQ is
"What is considered a local retail competitor? "
and the answer is ....
"A retail store located in the same market area as your local Best Buy store."
The reason I ask is this. On the same web page there is a link for a New York Price Match Class Action lawsuit about a similar situation where an individual bought a camera from Best Buy then found the same camera at a "local" camera retail shop for less and BB wouldn't price match it. And this individual one. (Reference the Decision and Order Document. The conclusion is on the bottom of page 31)
Note : There is more to the story, but this is what started the wheel turning in the lawsuit. I recommend reading that specific document thoroughly so you can see how scandalous retail can be.
I can understand not matching contract prices, although in the past they have for me. But in this case we are talking "retail" price. I have up til August to get 50% for my Evo ($300) and I was thinking for future sake how i would attack the upgrade. I could either do an ETF (about $180) and lose my mobile #, but pay contract price ,or I could just cash in the Evo for the program and buy phone at retail.
Has anyone had any experience with this situation with BB?
To the original poster...if you feel this may derail your thread, just PM me and I will remove it. Thought maybe this may bring some light for purchasing your next phone.

Was Google Play efficient for N7 pre-orders?

I definitely want to pre-order the N4 as soon as possible, but I don't know how Google are with shipping etc.
Did they ship before release date? How fast was shipping and how much did it cost?
I want to make sure I get it quickly, otherwise I'm stuck with a backup phone for a while...

They got shipped late, there was too few to satisfy demand and at one point they decided to send newly placed orders before earlier orders.
Delivery was a standard 2 working days think it was £9.99. They changed to overnight delivery due to the delays.
If you are brave here is the preorder shipping thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737556
Based on the nexus 7 preorder I'd advise against it.
Edit
Forgot there was also problems in the UK with incorrect delivery address on a lot of them.

Thanks. Do you think other retailers with have it available for pre-order?
Also on the subject, when they say "available for order" on the 13th, does that mean 12:01am?
I'm in California, and wouldn't mind staying up to get my order in :victory:
Not likely to have Preorder.
From what I understand, the actual release date is Nov 13. It doesn't look like google will be doing a preorder for this one. That said, the N7 preorder went well for me, I grabbed it early and got it on a friday, knew some others who didn't get theirs until after the weekend.
i did the pre order for the nexus 7 and it went pretty well over all. there was a bit of a delay due to high demand but i dont hold that against them. got mine when they said i would. in perfect condition and have no defects or problems.
Ordered my n7 on the first day of pre-orders, didnt recieve it for quite a while, people who ordered after me got it first. But it was worth the wait
Still not gunna stop me ordering this!
Waited about a month to get my Nexus 7 16GB, meanwhile all local stores had it in stock and I couldnt cancel. So, I wouldnt say they were very efficient.
If the N7 preorder was slow and delayed, I have to think that this one will be even worse, there's plenty of buzz for the phone.

I'm ordering a N4 when they come back in stock in a few hours. Who else is?

The Nexus 4 is supposed to become available from the Play Store again at 12PM Pacific Time. I'm planning on ordering one once it's in stock. I'm guessing the prices will stay the same (Why would they change?). Who else is planning on ordering one?

I'm from Chicago and I guess it shipped to Kentucky then Kentucky to Chicago
I think I will be purchasing another. I want to return mine to T-Mobile since I bought it $499 off contract, plus tax. Everything amounted to about $543 - so I'll be saving a good chunk of money purchasing the Nexus 4 through Google.
I'm debating it - 8GB is bullspit. I would like to take my chances and getting a 16GB. It's honestly not thaaaat huge a deal though.
Getting one and putting it on the $30 T-mobile plan. Gonna mess around with it and probably resell it or trade it for a yellow lumia 920

In order to get the N4 you might have to move to Firefox from Chrome for the next half hour. I know on Firefox there is an add-on/widget that reloads any page you want every 5 seconds. Just keep the Firefox window with the Nexus 4 Play Store page open and see-able so once the device is available, you'll be one of the first to see it and be able to order the N4. I might think of doing that lol.

Yes. The problems only happened because so many people were rushing to buy the device and the servers crashed or something like that. This time I don't think there will be that big of a rush to buy the N4.

For me it was 5 business days. I got shipping notification on Monday evening, UPS got it on Tuesday morning, and I got it 7 hours later that same morning.
I was thinking about ordering, to resell my current 8gb and snag a 16gb, but 1) 8gb is enough for me and 2) I think the resell market is going to tank once this second batch comes out and supply meets demand.
---------- Post added at 11:54 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:53 AM ----------
And I ordered on the 13th and had it by the 16th.

Sort of a Dilemma here

Alright so I got my phone in December and somehow found a way to completely Brick it. So in between reviving my phone back to life (It's fully functional now), I called Google to send me a replacement and they issued me a RMA. But as soon as I un-bricked my phone I called them back and told them to cancel the RMA I don't need replacement device anymore.
So apparently that didn't happen and I just received Google Play order email suggesting my Replacement device has been shipped.
Now here is my issue, I am from Canada so obviously there Tax and shipping charge involved. Although (When comparing with my old Google play order) this time the only charge I see is the full retail amount of the Phone and there is no shipping and tax involved. There is going a charge of $359 on my CC nevertheless.
So here is my question. If I accept the phone from UPS will the Taxes and shipping come back? or Not?
Any feedback on the matter will be highly appreciated. Good day Folks. Long Live Nexus.
If it works you didn't brick it.. If you don't need the RMA anymore just refuse the package and have them send it back.

I know about that, but I wanted to keep the phone and gift it to my cousin. So that's why I was wondering If I didn't refuse the package and kept it, will I still get charged the tax & the shipping or would it only cost me the retail price of the just phone? Which is $359.

Im sure there will be sales on black friday and close to Christmas. The risk of waiting though is that if you are interested in rooting/safe strap, there may be an ota between now and then that could block the current exploits.
I'd wait for the developer edition.
Logically speaking it's like a stock...reading through the thread it's just a matter of time to get the bootloader unlocked. .it's been done before it's gonna be done again. ..why wait to pay a higher price for pretty much the same device that's likely going to be unlocked in no time..

I would put the odds of a bootloader unlock on this device at extremely slim to none.
You can get it price matched at Best Buy on Newegg.com's price ($229 for new lines/$259 for upgrades). That's a pretty good discount.
Go ahead and buy it now if you want Root. If you're not planning on Rooting your phone then you can afford to wait a little. Remember this though, the longer you wait, the longer you delay from experiencing all this Note 3 goodness!!!
I am waiting for prices to come down.

The price won't come down for awhile, since it was just released. Amazon may do a Black Friday/holiday deal, but I wouldn't expect the price to change much.

I think the secondary market prices will come down after Christmas.

So you will get your phone two to three months later or not just to save like 100 bucks? If you're buying on contract, the difference between 200 dollars and 300 dollars is 4 dollars a month. Might add well have it sooner instead of later

Well, I am still on unlimited data so I cannot buy on contract. And yes, I will wait two months to save $100. When, I say secondary market, I am talking about ebay.
