Time to say goodbye - Xperia Play General

At the begining i want to apologise for bad english.
My xplay adventure started 6 months ago. I gave it to my son because i changed the way i use phone.
When i was buying my xp i tought about hardcore ps one gaming. Now i use my phone mostly to internet browsing.
Thanks all dev for they hard work. Xp can fly now even that sony left us.
Have a nice time with urs xplay. Im glad that icould be a part of great xplay community.

fare thee well Zanakorus! What phone do you use now?

I still use my Xperia Play but at the moment my primary device is my Galaxy S3, I use that for everything but when I Get my Nexus 7 I think my Xperia play may be used less, Tether my S3 with unlimited data from Three and use that on my Nexus 7, the chances are my Xperia play will go back in its box for another few years until I decide to take it apart lol.
Pretty sad to see my first Android device that was actually decent (My Galaxy Ace just... sucked ) get unused, I just don't see a point in gaming on that anymore, its annoying keeping it charged, so I use my PS3 controller to play games on my S3, What device have you got now anyway? I was amazed on how smooth the Galaxy S3 is compared to my Xperia play

Atm i got new Lg p760 or L9. I got it for fre from my mobile operator.
Its not a speed demon but it has 4,7 inch display 960x540 dual core ti omap 4430 at 1ghz and powervr sgx 540. It runs realy smooth.
But i miss my xplay much. Sad thing such a great phone like xp was such underpowered.
If sony make xp succesor i will buy it for sure. Now my son is using xp.
Hehe his friends didin even know such phones exists. It looks like xplay is a rare toy.

Felt good about the Xperia Arc today

Hello guys,
As we all know here's an always ongoing fight between the SGS II and Xperia Arc or Arc S.
One of my classmates has a SGS II and since a few days he has also an internet flat on it.
We're both on the same provider (E-PLUS) via subproviders, me on My MTV Mobile and he has Medion Mobile, but anyway, they use both the same network without any speed caps so it doesn't matter.
He thinks his SGS II is way better (I don't think so and he knows it) and he wanted to do a speedtest with the Sppedtest.net Mobile app to show how much better his SGS II is?
We used the same server so it's a fair test.
And, I was surprised, my Xperia Arc was faster in circa 18 out of 20 test we made in 3 days by 0.1-1.5Mbit/s in download and just a little bit in upload speeds as we have no HSUPA at our school.
In ping test each phone was 10 out of 20 tests faster than the other, so it is a tie.
Thought the SGS II has the better antenna, but well, I was wrong
The SGS II might be faster in general but internet speeds --> browsing speed goes to our Xperia Arc
Also with custom ROM and oc to 1.4GHz oc I don't see a big/no difference between the phones...
My Xperia Arc is running arconium 5.6 with the latest .64 baseband and DooMKernel.
Just wanted to share my experience with you, I hope you like the result
You could also try the Vellamo benchmark.
Sent from my LT18i using xda premium
I can ask him
But for now we just compared the download speeds.
On normal sites the Arc @ 1.4GHz should be faster due faster download then I guess
Sent from my iPad 2 using Tapatalk
Also try camera test - which phone takes fastest photos, make sure flash is off and focus is on normal and shoot away, the arc wins

Only today? I feel pretty good about my Arc everytime I use it . Actually though, what really impresses me is how beautiful it is everytime I look at it from the sides
Of course.. then the obligatory crack above the proximity sensor ruins it all.
i saw my friend's SGS II, and i kinda compare it. .
i think they have some good and minus point. .
arc have sexy model, nice feature than SGS II,
but if u call performance when SGS II on high performance and our arc overclocked to 1.9Ghz it still hard to catch its performance
i still proud to use Arc too man!

Amoled is better only for the deeper black.
For the rest the Arc screen has more natural and faithful colors than amoled, it has only pumped colours
The S2 is definitely going to step on the arc in Vellamo. You're just trying to make yourself feel good owning the arc by comparing trivial stuff. The dual-core processor, AMOLED screen, high performance SoC are enough to prove that the Galaxy S II is an overall superior smartphone.
Still, I wouldn't swap my arc for an S2 just because I hate Samsung's UI (TouchWiz).
Haha, I know thst the SGS II is better in overall and I don't care, I would own a SGS II then instead of my Arc
I wanted the Arc and I'm happy with it.
Just wanted to tell you guys my experience...

you dont have to use tw.
just use go launcher or any other launcher.
or install a rom with jkay (customizable aosp)
or use cm9 experimental with ics aosp (as im doing atm...)
there are plenty of ways to avoid tw
but one point for the arc is the prize
amazon:
sgs2 -> ~400
arc s -> ~350
arc -> ~300.

Nope, you can't avoid TW unless you switch ROMs. TouchWiz is not just the launcher, it's integrated in the whole thing.

Each phone has its pros and cons, that's a fact.
Even the SGS II is not flawless.
Arc is a phone based on a different philosophy, it's not about the processor or the top-notch specs, it's more about design.
It has a big bright screen and does its job nicely.
It's only human to want to feel good about what you got.
It's somewhat pathetic, on the other hand, to always look around to find better aspects in things you don't have. It's recipe for unhappiness and whimpering.
I am proud to own arc because of lot of wow effect that it makes on its appearance when regular people sees it.
Ok, I like to brag sometimes, but who don't?
Unique design that arc has differs it from all that regular and boring looking phones, mostly Samsungs..
So, proud to be arc owner!!

In every comparative video I've seen Arc perfroms as good as SGS II.
There are many of these on YouTube.
As for the display, AMoled on SGS II looks like oversaturated ****.
It really sucks, you have to be blind to call it superior to amazing Arc screen.
Ecaxtly, only in Benchmarks there's a big difference or when Arc's RAM is full.

Divorcing the Xplay for 310$ unlocked quad core 2 gb ram......

Hey guys I decided I am going to divorce my Xplay for this beauty once it comes out but let me give you an overview of the play
http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/16/xiaomi-phone-2-quad-core/
I have had the play for almost a year now I bought a blue one from at&t. But my experiences with this phone haven't been the best. The phone always had this stupid lag even with doom kernel 1.7ghz with performance on it was still there no update fixed it,and neither warranty work couldn't fix it. I have used jellybean with the new adreno drivers, zram, ksm, 16bit, and over clock but it ways lags. But at first that didn't mind me but two months later when the novelty of the gamepad wore off all what I had was a super thick heavy duty phone that suffered from lagging. So the only good thing I have to say about the Xplay is the community at xda, it's battery life, and it's 4inch screen.
Thank you FXP, nickholtus, kerianftw, supervenom, etc for all the work that you have done for the play and I hope to see some of you in the xiamio forums when the phone comes in October.

But like everyone said. We got Xplay for the game pad.
I'm thinking about getting that too, and keeping the Xperia Play as a dedication emulation machine.
Either that or an Xperia S
Did you guys know that in Japan they have a Galaxy S3 with 2gig. Ram and here in Europe and I think in USA too only 1 gig of Ram.
That **** can happen to this one too
No in the us 2 GB of ram and dual core international xyneos quad core and 1 GB of ram. This is because of the quad cores incompatibility with LTE
Sent from my Play using Tapatalk 2
Good choice. I'd get it too if not that costs of shipping. I'm like crazy about this phone. The funny thing would be when some 1 will laugh at me cos of my "fake iphone" and then I'd tell him about quad core and 2 gigs of ram. It just has to be so damn funny xD
Tapped with Xperia Play running AOKP 4.0.4 Milestone 6
I wasn't even happy with the S3 when compared it to a Nexus in term of developments and community support. I was interested in the Meizu, but even till now it has no development section on XDA, so I'm not so sure this Xaomi will either. Also it looks like it lacks microSD and battery not removable, that's a big turn off for me, even with 3000mAh. With that said it is a good price, but I think you will have to pay VAT also so it will be more than that, US resellers will include the VAT in the final price. I guess the price is not bad as long as you don't need a development community for it. The article did say it will use MIUI rom, if that includes LBE and superuser privilege than I guess its not too bad. At half the retail price of the S3 I think its a good buy.
No I've looked up a lot it has micro SD

I feel like that is way too big for a phone. A 5 inch screen is pushing it, but thanks to the lack of bezel on the ZL and Z, it seems like it would be manageable.
The entire point of a smartphone is to have a device you can easily take and remove from your pocket that can keep you connected and entertained.
A 6.44" phone would not fit in my pocket lol.

I agree about the whole point of a smartphone is to utilize the Internet everywhere you go but as well in my opinion most people want to see the internet on bigger screens so the lines between tablet and phones are blurring... I love the size my OG galaxy note and i think the 6.44 will be comparable due to using small or no bezel and no softkeys

6.4 inch phone specs

As soon as the image on the touch panel size is 6.44 inch for the smartphone tablet hybrid (Phablet) upcoming Sony revealed the first information about the configuration of the machines have arrived with the very attractive. 6.44-inch Full HD IPS panels, the latest Snapdragon 800 75% stronger than the current Xperia Z , 3GB ram and a 3500Mah battery.
Refer to:
Superior power of Snapdragon 800
This information was given by Randomuser who gave the info about Xperia Z and Xperia ZL quite accurate in the past. According to this guy, we have the parameters detailed below.
6.44 inch 1920x1080px IPS panels, OptiContrast technology, can be WhiteMagic
3GB Ram
800 MSM8974 Snapdragon quad-core processor clocked at 2.3 Ghz
32GB memory
Battery 3500Mah
Support 4G LTE connectivity, NFC
Support touch pen (stylus)
Time is expected to launch this product can not accurately determine whether the second half of this year. With this powerful configuration certainly hybrid smartphone Xperia brand will be a formidable opponent hit directly at the brand Samsung Galaxy Note that "monopolize" this product segment in market share in recent years .

Those specs are fake. I've said before why anything with 3GB of RAM is highly unlikely to be correct. Randomuser just heard those specs from someone on NeoGAF, and both that NeoGAF dude and Randomuser have been wrong before.
If the phablet becomes reality expect it to be very close to the Xperia Z in specs. The Xperia Z will be Sony's flagship this year if I understood everything correctly.

absolutely nexus 4 !!! i didnt buy my nexus with the great price of google store i paid around 450 euros and i never will regret this treasure i get better support better quality better development and better community is are biggest pros.. a great screen maybe not 1080p but still amazing and both have same spec almost both snapdragon s4 pro with 2 gb ram but can u say Z is more beautiful than N4?! choose google! u will have the support from mama! :good:
I went from N4 to an XZ then back to an N4. I found the XZ too big and awkward to use, it lags a bit more than the N4 too.
Or maybe Xiaomi MI2S? Currently beats all phones!
Its the Nexus 4 forum, it'll be obviously biased towards the Nexus 4.
^^ somebooty isnt happy. Remember opinions; we all have em and breathing is good.

I used one for a bit in a Sony store. I didn't like it. It felt more uncomfortable in the hand, it lagged, and even though the screen was 1080p, it looked worse. The colors looked way off, didn't really look great, and the viewing angles were terrible. I would get a Nexus 4.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
The nexus 4 is awesome!!
Fastest android device u can get (in terms of ui smoothness) as of now
But hey the experia z is so sexy i like it a lot and also the 13 mp is a pulse too only thing holding me back from buying it is it being a bit too large .
Do you guys still in the USA via the Play Store the Nexus 4 will still be cheaper than the Moto X?
If I was going to buy the phone JUST to use it, no developing no nothing, I'd get the XZ. It looks great and it performs well.
If I was going to buy the phone to mod and develop, I'd get the nexus 4.
That's another reason I went back to the N4, the dev community for the XZ isn't very active. For example there's only 1 custom kernel and it only works with stock based roms. I was bored.
Bought Nexus 4 16GB in latest HW revision. If someone has similar issue between the phones, you can ping me via PM. Thank you all.

Would I change my S4 for a Z1? No.
Would I buy a Z1 instead of S4? Yes.
Two simple questions, to begin with, I got a S4 in the end of June, so it was still the best device along with the HTC One, if you're going to wait for the next huge release you'll wait forever, as in 6 months a new beast appears!
I really like my S4, however I've always been a Sony fan, and Z1 is better than S4 in some aspects, also it includes Bravia Engine and xLoud (for music lovers like me the sound is incomparable, I for myself like more the sound of my brother Xperia Play than my S4 lol), and don't forget it includes the Snapdragon 800, which is even better and charges faster.
As far as I can tell, both devices are amazing, you won't disappoint with either, it's now just preference, we achieved in a point in power that you can chose anything, that one will be better than other in certain aspect and you'll like one more than other for that aspect, because tell me, what big difference would be from a device to other, they are all fluid and fast now lol.
Hope this helps a little .
All the best,
~Lord
