Yeah this is how I feel, it's a good phone to use as a replacement or if you're on contract and have ages to go until your upgrade.
However due to the minimal storage space I don't think I'd get one as my main phone.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app

Heck no, no USB audio and no card slot=device is dead to me. I will get one for review purposes, but it cannot ever be my daily driver.

It's a good nexus, but it's not a good consumer device. At least in my eyes!
I need a LED Notification Light,
Expandable Memory
5"+ screen!
Those are my requisites! Not for everyone

After a month with the note 2 it will take alot more than stock android and 350€ to make me change my phone. However I convinced a friend to ditch his laggy SE Xperia Neo for a Nexus 4 so I'll get to play with it for a while

This is a scenario where I'm glad I don't have an LTE plan. I have an international Note 2 (AT&T) and will be getting a Nexus 4 for portability. They both use a micro-SIM and both are HSPA+, so I can swap the SIM and go without hassle. If you have an LTE phone and plan, HSPA+ speeds are terrible.
Best of both worlds. Selling my GNEX (which I kept for portability) to finance the Nexus 4. No more SIM tray adapters!
I'm getting ~6mbps on HSPA+ and have exactly zero NEED for LTE. My data is plenty fast, thank you very much!

Not sure that is accurate as i have AT&T also with LTE service and im seeing 6-12 mbps on my international Note 2 and 21-25 mbps on my HTC One XL.

Ok well I was basing it off of my short stint with a Lumia 900. They changed my plan to LTE and when I put the SIM in my Galaxy Nexus, the speeds were very poor. Ended up having to give them an Atrix IMEI to get speeds over 300kbps. After the LTE was removed and my data was re-provisioned to HSPA+ (on the Atrix IMEI, a recognized "4g" ATT phone) my speeds went back to 5mbps.
Maybe it's been fixed (LTE vs. HSPA+ speeds) but I didn't have a good experience with an LTE plan and a non-LTE phone.

The N4 in the United States will be recognize as the world's greatest prepaid phone. But still no match for the Note 2.

I have Galaxy Nexus and been waiting for N4 but after seeing N4 specs. I got Note 2 yesterday

The Nexus 4 can be a great compliment device to the Note 2 but it can't ever replace it. EVER. The price difference is a good indicator of this.
Great for if you have a spare sim around.

[Q] Need to Replace Epic... With What?

My wife and I both have Epics, but she's dropped hers enough times now that the screen is totally cracked and it will need to be replaced... Rather than pay to repair it, I'd rather replace it... But with what? What's the best thing since sliced cheese that's available (or will be available shortly) for Sprint? Looking at the current stock of available Sprint phones, I might be inclined to go with the Galaxy S II / Epic 4G Touch if it weren't for the fact that I'm so unhappy with Samsung's dismal support for the Epic...
So what does everyone recommend? Is there something coming out just over the horizon that we should hold out for?
If you need something now, nothing.
But if you can wait a bit, the galaxy nexus should be coming to sprint.
The gs2 has better specs (sans screen) but the nexus is guaranteed to get updates unlike our epics

If it still works I would wait for the LTE handsets in 2012. The 800SMR coverage will be a big plus too.

That spectrum won't be used for lte until identified is switched off. That's getting into 2013.

I agree, I switched over to Nexus S 4G since I'm not currently eligible for upgrade through Sprint. But if I was, that new Nexus would be the way to go!!

you could always buy a nexus s 4g off ebay for like 200 bucks. then sell it on ebay in a few months when the galaxy nexus comes out for maybe 100 bucks. i hear the photon is pretty good.

Just unboxed my Note 2 :)

So far I am loving this phone. Every aspect of the device is an upgrade. I purchased it through MobiCity on Amazon. I live in the US and have ATT service. I understand that this version will not do LTE, and having LTE in the past i wasn't that impressed with it, due to the fact it hogs the battery and with data plans like they are hspa+ does great.
I havent gotten my new sim card yet but i was curious to know what the reception and data speeds would be like If anyone else has ATT with this model. The firmware version is XXALIE.

Enjoy!
I'm right here on the fence whether to buy or not from the sellers at Amazon or not. I always prefer to buy directly from Amazon or the OEM (Samsung). But the launch date is so freaking away from now, I can't wait...
You have guts tho son, you bought from the seller that just launched:
click me for list of Amazon Sellers selling the Grey version
I want the white one, it's on amazon as well for 20 bucks more - I hear finger prints and smudges are less noticeable on the white one. I have an iphone as well so I already have the micro sim. You don't need a new SIM, you can cut yours out if you want. Them regular cell stores should have the SIM cutters that can cut out yours to the propper measurements; that's what I did, never did contacted my carrier for a new SIM.

Grats and enjoy it! I thought about jumping on the UK version, but I myself have a hard time justifying such a large purchase without LTE. I am on Sprint but will be making the switch to ATT once the phone releases to get on thier HSPA+/LTE since I am in St. Louis and that's one of their most supplied networks.

I too live in the St.Louis area. The LTE is smokin fast..but so is the 4g and not having any Carrier branding was a deciding factor. Im enjoying it thats for sure. Like a kid with his favorite new toy. Lol! I also got 50gb for 2 years from dropbox 8)

So did AT&T's Hspa+ speeds kick in right away....or did you have to fanagle with the carrier /apns to get it. The carrier system didnt recognize my Note1 as a Hspa+ smartphone and I had crap speeds initially, I had to adopt the imei of one of their devices to access those speeds.

AwseSOME! Thanks
Very nice. I am waiting to get it with LTE. Being able to have a device that is able to get the latest and greatest data speeds is nice. Especially because cities are getting it all the time. Plus, I would rather have it and not need it than not be able to ever get it.

Nexus 4 is out!

The thing just looks awesome!
The only drawback I would say is that the memory is limited, 8/16 GB only.
It is also mega cheap!!
Probably my next phone, as it will get updates directly from google.

Honestly I'd rather get the Optimus G (AT&T) which is like the Nexus 4 but with Micro SD and LTE.

I don't see how the N4 is a "crippled SGS3" when it pretty much blows it out of the water in every category except maybe LTE radios if it applies to your area. I need to hold on to my Atrix for the next year or so, but I'm definitely jumping on the next Nexus regardless of how much it costs.
Obviously choose this over the Optimus G. AOSP + fast updates, anyone?

Quad core is "every category"?
LTE is a very big deal. No sdcard and I prefer AMOLED.
Well thats an amazing upgrade after the Nexus and more Nrxus devices are still to come .. we can still upgrade from the older Nexus coz its Quadcore now wid android 4.2 out of the box!

Will there be a 4G LTE Nexus 7?

I know that the 3G just came out, but is there any chance that there will be a 4G LTE version in the future? Or should I assume that will only be when ever the N7's successor comes out?
I ask because I came from an iPad3 with LTE and got addicted to being able to use IRC, twitter and Facebook on the train. I bought the 32GB before I heard about the 3G version, and instead of returning it for the 3G I figure I will just wait till what I asume is inevitable and a 4G arrives.

I could still return if I want to. I'd just rather not bother if in say 6 months a 4g version may be out.
I myself bought a second nexus 7 to have 3G connectivity... I love it but me too have a ipad 3 also a iphone 5 and i miss 4G LTE on my Nexus devices... Well my Nexus 4 technically have lte but don't feel like hacking the thing just to get lte... Hope Google takes the good decision to include lte on their next Nexus devices!

The next time a Nexus gets properly supported LTE, it'll have to be with some newer generation of chipsets that would support a broad base of LTE frequencies. Don't hold your breath for an LTE version of the current Nexus devices.

Upgrade time

So my og is a mess of cracks and other issues and my 3vo has the digitizer ghost touch. So I am looking for a new cdma device. Been looking at the note 2, s4, and a couple of the nexus devices.
I flash my phone so bad esn phones are the best way to go for me. They are cheaper than new and i don't get stuck with a contract. The nexus phones seem to have the best of the aftermarket roms but not sure which one is the best. I do like htc sense but so far the one just seems out classed by the rest.
So I figured I would see what others think would be the way to go.

I've found the LTE EVO pretty cheap on craiglist and swappa. As well as the Droid DNA which is both cdma and gsm. I've gone the way of GSM now because there is a Wal-mart exclusive t-mobile prepaid plan for $30 a month unlimited text, and data (up to 5gigs high speed then throttled afterwards) 100 minutes. Though I rarely make calls.

This may help me make a decision on a new phone. I go the prepaid route as well. I'm currently in the same market as a phone buyer so I will have to keep GSM in mind. Thanks for that heads up sir.
The downside of gsm is the simcard. Your esn is on the card so there are no bad esn phones which means the prices are higher than a cdma with a bad esn.

The EVO LTE was a nice upgrade a year ago when I moved up from my OG EVO. A year later, though, there is a whole new swath of Android phones to choose from. If I had to upgrade now from my EVO LTE I don't even know what I'd choose. It's definitely a "buyers market", so to speak.
