Hi
I have just bought a Motorola RAZR HD today. It's a good phone. Network speed with dc-hspa+ is amazing in France with orange f.

Droid RAZR JAZZ HD here...couldn't resist the battery life.

Is the Razr HD just a better screen than the old Razr? I looked at comparo specs on GSMArena, and the old Razr was 256 ppi - new HD version is 312 ppi. A little spec bump in the processor. Noting else really stands out (other than no SDXC card????).
I mean, is the main selling point of this smartphone the HD screen? And, for those of you who have it, is it really that good?

How much does it cost?? In italy it isn't arrived yet

i'm waiting for it on mexico, hahahaha:laugh:

How's the data reception? What does NOT work right?

How do you all like it? Thinking about upgrading but I just don't know yet especially with more nexus phones coming out soon. Aren't all motorola bootloader's locked? How much does that effect custom roms? I would like to get it and hold out for the Jelly Bean update then root to get rid of bloatware. Can you still get OTA updates if you're rooted?

So far everything works...i did a second restart and it ran a million times better than first boot
Reception is great..call quality.. screen is awesome... speaker is a little louder and crisper..a little less bass...camera in hdr mode is sick
No lag
Battery life way to soon to tell

The HD models are using a Snapdragon S4, the first gen Razrs use an OMAP4430#1.2Ghz. S4 vs OMAP4 is a huge difference. This link is a little old, but shows the S4 and several OMAP4 based devices.

Download "lightflow" from the play store. The light version is very full featured.
I'll go ahead and say you're welcome now

got mine this evening...
my battery life stinks.... hehe (that's a joke) when i got it the battery was at 48% after 2hr 40min I am at 11% with 1hr 50min screen on time... I wasn't much more than 1hr 50min screen on time with a full charge on my S3.
notification light.. I am using light flow and I am slightly disappointed with the notification light but only because it doesn't support more colors.. but I will do just fine with the ones it does support. I just think if it supported as many colors as the GNex it would be a killer notification light.
Signal seems slightly better than my regular razr but I haven't had a chance to hit known bad areas yet..
I LOVE the size and feel of the phone... I liked my S3 but it was just a bit to large for my tastes.. the footprint of this phone being the same as my regular razr but with a larger screen is great.. did I say I LOVE the feel of this phone!
the speaker is very loud and seems very crisp the little I have used it.. I also use the HP out to my car's aux port and the audio level and quality blows away my S3...
I will just point out that moto/verizon has some really weird tastes when it comes to stock ringtones... it has lots of "DROID" variations and the rest of the stock sounds are pretty strange too.. but that is really just my opinion others may like that..
overall after roughly 3 hours I am impressed and not missing my S3 at all

YES i am testing it now and YES it does I wasn't aware it did this... i knew it did over 4G but it also does voice/data over 3G as well..

What about when you take a picture, especially low light. Do you miss the S3 then?

honestly not really..
I don't think the S3's low light ability is that much better to forget all the ways to me the RAZR HD is better... besides the best camera i have ever seen in low light is my wife's iPhone... but I wouldn't switch to that phone just for the camera either.

Tell me about the Nexus S

I'm mulling a switch to Sprint basically and I'm considering a Nexus S 4G when I come across, anything special I need to know? Tell me some pros and cons, just wanting to make a good purchase.

Pros: stock gingerbread, samoled is amazing, sexy formfactor body, easy to root.
If your going to root we have a pretty good section of roms, mostly aosp. Go check out the dev section if you wanna get the down low.
Cons: some users have issues with signal reception but mine is rather good, some people don't like the plastic body, samoled sucks up battery if is up too high for too long.
But the only opinion that matters is your own, btw if you don't like it you can return it and get an evo if you like that better.

I agree with everything except this. Samoled uses a good bit less power than LCD technology does.

I've never kept my phone the higtest setting for the whole day, I'm always on auto, I just guessed that it would suck up more battery than in normal use. Never tested aganist an LCD screen so ..... lol but I've heard different stories about battery life between LCD vs samoled screen so hmmm I don't know >.<

Yes, samoled does use less power then an lcd if you avoid white color

Anybody have a Nexus 7 w/ a 4.8" screen phone?

So I just sold my Acer a500 with hopes of getting 32gb nexus 7. But my gf raised a point of, is it worth it since your phone is already almost 5 in. So does anyone else have a large screen phone an still enjoy an think their nexus 7 is worth it? My dad offered me his transformer prime for $300 so now I'm thinking about that since its way improves over my a500.
I really just use my tablet for web browsing an viewing power points an documents for college. So, do you guys think its worth it if you have a large sized screen phone?

Yeah I have a sgs3. I held the 7 last night an the screen looked very nice an fit well in the hand. Just worried about downgrading to 7 from 10 in. But for what I used my Acer for, the 7 seems like it will be fine. Just like I said in my post about it being not "too" far off from my sgs3 4.8" screen.

For me personally the N7 is too small for web browsing, I don't like to zoom in and out all the time. I think that 8-9' is the perfect size, but I don't see Google making it anytime soon, so I'm going to buy the N10 as soon as its available.

There was no WiFi at Walmart where I had it so I couldn't try web browsing. So I can't really comment on zooming in an out. On my 10" Acer I still had to zoom in an out browsing the web. Though it depended what orientation I had it in. Landscape I could read as is, but portrait I had to zoom in a lot.

Killer feature : 2xfront speaker + infra remote control + ultrapixel with OIS.

What is your killer feature in HTC One? I think all the three feature makes me wanna buy one now.
I don't think any competitors have this very important feature.
What largely appeals to me is the boom sound. I can't wait till I have this phone in my hands.

Finally 2 Speakers started coming out. Hope samsung follows or else I will buy HTC One. Its important for me.
I'm choosing between One and XZ and for me One's killer feature is a screen and a processor.
I don't need two stereo speakers for the "old phone" ringtone or mail notification beeps.
The screen!
I think it's the highest ppi screen you will ever see in the market, the sgs4 can be 2% faster than the One (as usual) but they will never beat the 4.7'' 1080p SLCD3 with their 5'' 1080p,it's pure mathematics
The screen without a doubt.

because i'm addicted to THC and i dont like samsung nor sense, but i like htc and the devs work at xda. aluminum is also nice such as the display.
processor to me, but any android apps thats actually demanding enough to push the hardware at all? the GPU is still the andreno 320.

As for the question posed in this thread: in so far as there *is* a killer feature, I guess it's the colour accuracy of the screen; but the S600 chipset and stereo, forward-facing speakers help too.
ANother thing is i tend to use my phones as music players too..so i dont mind the slightly smaller screen..lol if 4.7 is small
As for the speakers I don't know...
I play 99% of my games muted
I won't watch videos on it because of the battery
Listening to music through such speakers is masochism
In the pocket both will be covered by my thigh so they will sound muffled
And on the table they will be acting as a huge dust collectors
1. Build quality
2. Two front speakers
3. Camera
4. Screen
.. and I hope battery life is good.

Nexus 7 2nd generation FHD display

I got mine today from Amazon uk and I must say that I am a bit disappointed from the screen. I watched many reviews and all of them were talking for one of the best displays out there. Well they probably haven't seen Samsung galaxy tab 7.7 super amoled + magic. I will post a video later on with both devices playing a trailer from imdb.
Don't get wrong here. I love it but it just can't display black. Period.

I couldn't agree with you more. The Galaxy tab was retailing at 700 us while the nexus a fraction of that. However the amoled display on my "old" Sammy tab 7.7 is out of this world. The black and the color reproduction are just stunning. I was used to that display and the gnex looks to me a bit washed out. Other than that is is really great.
Sent from my GT-I9505G using Tapatalk 2
I suppose he is talking about the colours?
They are a little bit washed out and the white is a bit yellow when compared to my nexus 4 that has francos gamma settings applied.
However, when gamma controls are ported to the Nexus 7 the screen will look great with some tweaking.
Guys you do realise this screen is one of the few ones actually calibrated in the factory at two different stages and that the colours are accurate. What you see in the unfortunate Samsung models etc is a screen just with ridiculously saturated unrealistic colours. You guys need to train your eyes to see real quality...

Screen burn in, fix?

I have a screen burn-in on my RAZR HD. The nav buttons and status bar are noticeable while using Immersive mode or simply by watching a video on YouTube. Is there anyway I could fix this or is it permanent?

Looks like we're out of luck.
I read the article, there is no hope. What a shame for AMOLED displays, never thought this would happen to me. I can't change my phone (voided warranty)and my contract does not end for another two years, this is great. I may have to buy another phone, just what I needed...Not.

you can try this tool !

free on the play store.
-install the app
-open it and tap start
after a run of about 3 minutes.
my screen-burns seem to have drastically reduced.
What phone you have? RAZR HD? I've seen so many reviews of this app some of them stating that it doesn't work on the RAZR HD, I haven't tried tho, will do and see what happens. My screen burn in is pretty noticeable when In Immersive mode or in YT, which is fully immersive by default.
