Killer feature : 2xfront speaker + infra remote control + ultrapixel with OIS. - One (M7) General

What is your killer feature in HTC One? I think all the three feature makes me wanna buy one now.
I don't think any competitors have this very important feature.

What largely appeals to me is the boom sound. I can't wait till I have this phone in my hands.

Finally 2 Speakers started coming out. Hope samsung follows or else I will buy HTC One. Its important for me.

I'm choosing between One and XZ and for me One's killer feature is a screen and a processor.
I don't need two stereo speakers for the "old phone" ringtone or mail notification beeps.

The screen!
I think it's the highest ppi screen you will ever see in the market, the sgs4 can be 2% faster than the One (as usual) but they will never beat the 4.7'' 1080p SLCD3 with their 5'' 1080p,it's pure mathematics

The screen without a doubt.

Screen and Sound Quality...The 2 most important features for me!

The overall construction (looks amazing in all the videos of it I've seen so far) and the speakers. Hopefully the camera is as good as they say, if so then I will definitely get this

because i'm addicted to THC and i dont like samsung nor sense, but i like htc and the devs work at xda. aluminum is also nice such as the display.

processor to me, but any android apps thats actually demanding enough to push the hardware at all? the GPU is still the andreno 320.

As for the question posed in this thread: in so far as there *is* a killer feature, I guess it's the colour accuracy of the screen; but the S600 chipset and stereo, forward-facing speakers help too.

ANother thing is i tend to use my phones as music players too..so i dont mind the slightly smaller screen..lol if 4.7 is small

As for the speakers I don't know...
I play 99% of my games muted
I won't watch videos on it because of the battery
Listening to music through such speakers is masochism
In the pocket both will be covered by my thigh so they will sound muffled
And on the table they will be acting as a huge dust collectors

1. Build quality
2. Two front speakers
3. Camera
4. Screen
.. and I hope battery life is good.

What you guys think on the US versions sound?

Is it me, or is the sound like REALLY bad. I know it doesn't have the wolfson chip, but i was still expecting better. Any music being played sounds really bad. Even videos when you turn it all the way up, its not even decent. Same thing when the headphones are plugged in.
Mine sound nice...
Mine sounds great, and the amp puts out some decent power so driving decent headphones is easy.

Hmmm wonder if somethings wrong with mine. It's not cracking or anything. Just seems low turned all the way up, and when i mess with the settings Rock, jazz, bass, etc etc, it just doesn't seem right to impress me.
I'm coming from the tbolt...wich had decent sound IMO, so my standards arn't unrealastic

Good. Not awesome but good.
Mine passed my sound test, I play Pink Floyd's High Hopes off The Division Bell, at the beginning the is some low ambient sounds, I play the song through Google music with a semi decent pair of headphones, and with the volume in the "normal" range I can hear the crickets etc.
Its 3× better than my HTC one x half as good as my iPhone 4s. I can deal with that

Ehh its ok, for your average joe it will be fine. But if you consider yourself and audiophile then it is still not as good as the iPhone 4. Head over to head-fi.org they have some graphs and eq charts of the S3. The consensus is that iPhone 4 > International S3 > US S3.

New Nexus 7 Sound Chip

On my original Nexus 7, the sound chip is very bad, at max volume the sound isn't even medium loud on my headphones.
I use PowerAMP with bass boost and treble boost on (I listen to electro mainly.) How does the new Nexus 7 compare?
Also, can someone compare the new Nexus 7 to S III in sound quality on headphones? Mainly how long each can go? The old nexus is terrible compared to SIII.
The new sound chip is really really good. Like really good. I use similar headphones comfortabley at about 25-35% volume, Clarity is great, good DAC.

As stated in the thread you linked, this does not affect headphone output, only the speakers on the tablet's output so it's not entirely relevant to the OP's question.

I'm finding its close to my HTC One coming through the headphones. Won't go quite as loud and clear but it definitely has impressed me. By far better than the first gen nexus 7!
Is the sound good because it's good? Or is the sound good because of how crappy the OG nexus was? The sound is the only thing I hate. Headphones and speakers. Makes me wonder if mine is defective. Or maybe I shouldn't expect more from a budget tablet. Would love to see more opinions.

While I wait for the N4 to arrive

Hello all,
I have just ordered my Nexus 4 and while I wait I'm looking at all the apps/Roms/mods for it. I have chosen N4 over S4 or HTC One mainly because of the price. I hate the fact that this will be my 3rd Android experience without acceptable audio recording in videos with loud environment. Finger crossed for a fix but I doubt it.
I think I made the right decision although Nexus phones don't excel in best hardware they are very well optimized running pure Android and not to mention the latest versions. The development for this model also is better then S4 and HTC One
From what I have found so far I am going to get Faux kernel and sound and I will also install the mode to improve the camera quality and maybe enable LTE.
If anyone has other advice or apps/ROM/modes that you think they are worth please post them here. Thank you devs for this wonderful forum! Cheers!

I have asked on other threads if anyone can test Faux Sound and modify the Camcorder Microphone Gain to -10 or -15 I think it will make the recording OK but I can't yet test since I'm still waiting for the Nexus to arrive .
Everyone is obsessed with modifying GPU and CPU values but there are few who are interested in sound and those that are care only about the quality when listening to music. I think it's very important to be able to record OK sounds even if the sounds are loud. I know about the copyright thing and believe me this is not the issue since there are still phones out there that record good sound. If you are are someone's birthday and you want to record some memories you will have to ditch the sound
Wonder if Nexus 5 will still have this issue and finger crossed for 4.4 to allow mic gain control.
I finally have my Nexus 4 with 8GB. I have it for about 1 week and I have not root it. Did anyone managed to reduce the gain on the mic to record K loud sound?
I think this is the most amazing Android experience yet and I don't mind about the battery or thermal throttling at all.
I am even pleased with the 8GB since I have 50GB on Box and 15 on GDrive.
Only complaint is the poor sound when recording loud sounds.

The most underrated feature on the Moto X

The Speaker!
I've used many smartphones in my days, but the speaker on the Moto X is by far one of the best I've ever heard. It actually has noticeable bass! And the volume is ridiculously loud. I'll even go as far as to say it bests the HTC One's dual speakers
Yea, the speaker on this phone is a beast... Way way better than my sgs3, that phones speaker doesn't even belong in the same category as the moto x.
AT&T Moto X rocking 4.4
It's definitely a good speaker. Gets loud and stays clear.

did not know that since i always have headphones on will try it one of these days
Open up the EQ settings in Google Play Music and set the speaker EQ (not wired stereo) to Extreme Bass! It sounds best in that mode!

define "blown". a blown speaker can still produce sound but sound distorted. a malfunctioning speaker may not produce sound at all. somehow i doubt the speaker inside the phone can move enough air to actually BLOW.
It definitely does not best the HTC One speakers. Not in dynamic range at least.

Anyone else notice that if you set the phone on the counter, face up, it actually gets louder and clearer due to the curve in the back of the phone. The sound seems to ricochet off the surface the phone is sitting on...when I would set my nexus 4 on a counter it would basically mute the speaker.
