Galaxy note screen pressure senstivity (1024 or 256) level? - Galaxy Note 10.1 General

I bought a new note 10.1 yesterday as an upgrade from tab 10.1 , but i'm some what confused with the detailed specs of the screen sensitivity on the web some says it recognizes only 256 pressure level (like original note) and others say it supports 1024 pressure level (like note 2), so which one is correct and does pressure senstivity depend on the spen or the digitizer .
Thanks and regards

Can it be that those who are pro apple or anti samsung does not read the full reviews?
Quote uk.hardware.info "A Note is only a Note if you can take notes on it. That's why Samsung has included a little pen, that can be stored in the case just like last year's Galaxy Note smartphone. When you take out the pen, a side bar appears with pen-specific shortcuts.
The S pen is much more sensitive according to Samsung. The pressure sensitivity has been increased from 256 to 1,024 levels, which makes using it even smoother."

guys would it be possible to take off the screens in each tablet and install the nexus 10 screen on the note 10.1 ?? Wouldnt that give us the resolution capabilities for it , and at the same time replace the battery and get the NFC ??

The Note has an inductive display to support the S-Pen and the N10's display is capacitive and the pen won't work. So, pick one.
so the screens are not separated like a digitizer and the actual screen ?? and sorry for these question im ignorant when it comes to things like these.
Pretty sure the Exynos 4 that's inside the Note 10.1 doesn't support the Nexus 10's screen resolution. So it won't work as far as I know.
The screen wont work for mainly two reasons the wavecom chip wont work with a capacative screen and it does not support higher resolution then what we have on the note. That is why not has that resolution
The processor does not support that high resolution.
These are main two reason apart from many other. Its like fitting a trucks body on a cars chassies

Here's the difference between the two displays. An inductive display picks up an electro-magnetic signal from the pen where a capacitive display only can respond to physical contact. Based on the manufacturing complexity I'd guess the Note's display cost Samsung more than the FHD+ display on the N10.

Thank you guys , just using my imagination
I didnt know that the screen resolution mattered to the cpu , but then again a computer monitor will go as far as the graphics in a pc allows it ..
Yes the same concept works over here, it depends on how much the mali gpu allows it go to. Secondly as the resolution increase the processing power requirement also increases.
You can have insane resolutions but how pratical are they since most of the apps are developed for a 5inch screen.
This was posted in the N10 forum and sort of describes the challenges of inking on a capacitive display by someone who tried to solve them. To me, either inking works well or why bother. Using a kluge might get the job done but would be very frustrating. I'd rather live with the 720P display (which is still better in contrast and brightness than the N10's).

I made the app Writepad Stylus to do precisely that, on the Asus Transformer 101. Palm rejection on a capacitive screen, without weird zoning boxes. It worked pretty well and I made a lot of money from it. But there are a ton of issues with that algorithm that I ran into when I got the Asus Transformer Prime, which ultimately made me give up on the app:
Bad capacitive screen sensitivity. The Transformer Prime and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 both have awful sensitivity settings, so the writing comes out looking like an 8 year old's scribble. It doesn't register all the input points. It doesn't start recording points until AFTER you move the stylus a certain distance. Ugh. There's an app that sorta fixes that called TouchscreenTune, but it requires root, and the settings for that are really hard to calibrate. Even after messing with that, it's still not as good as on the Xoom or the original Transformer.
Touch screen can't handle straight lines. If you try to draw a straight line horizontally or vertically, it comes out straight. If you try to draw a diagonal line, it comes out wiggly. This is also particular to certain tablet screens. Who knows whether a particular tablet will have good touch screen or crappy one? No reviewer tests for that kind of thing. You have to go to the store to try it out.
Your hand will accidentally hit the notification or navigation buttons, taking focus away from the app, or accidentally going back to the homescreen. As far as I know, this can happen even with the S-pen. Asus has a "lock navigation bar" feature on their tablets, which is nice. There's no way to hide the navigation bar or disable it while something is going on in app (unless you root your tablet).
Anyway, if someone wants to test these things on the Nexus 10 and report back, I'd be grateful since I can't find these in stores yet. Just try to write as small as you can with a capacitive stylus, and try to slowly draw straight diagonal lines.

You have posted a comparison between a RESISTIVE display and a capacitive/inductive one. The top picture is resistive which is old technology now, it's what the old smart phones and pocket PC's used and had a thin layer of plasticky material for sensing pressure. The note 10.1 uses both capacitive (for fingers) and inductive (for the pen).....and the nexus 10 just uses capacitive, not the screen in the 1st pic in your diagram. As far as I know, no screens use resistive tech anymore.

Good lord, that is pushing it. But, my weak-minded self will buy it day one for a disgustingly inflated price
I could see this being accepted, as long as the dimensions of the phone don't increase. I would like to see a titanium bezel to create an edge to edge display.
I agree, the size would be fine with an edge to edge display. I was figuring the next step for 'phablets' would be 6 inches or so. I think I can handle that size to carry around with me, considering (for me) my Nexus 7 is a tad to big to carry with me.

Fake...well I would say more just some 'inside speculation'...time will tell if there will be a 6.3 N3 or a note 6.3, but I am pretty sure there will be a N3 and it will be bigger and better.... But for now I am VERY pleased with my N2...:good:

Original note1 is 5.78" x 3.27" with 5.3" inch screen+ bezel (take of the bezel and u have 6.64'' diagonal.)
note 2 is longer 5.95'' x 3.17'' with 5.5'' inch screen + bezel (take of the bezel and u have even bigger diagonal of 6.74 '')
loads of room for bigger screen in both of them.

Without bezel you will just accidentally touch your screen when you dont want it. Thats for sure, there has to be some bezel.
For me bigger phone will be really way to much. GN2 just barely made it, any bigger and you wont be able to reach corners of screen with one hand.
Looks like from more leaks yesterday...8 core with a 6.3 inch screen is coming. I think 6.3 will work if the size of the phone itself can stay close to the N2. Though that is getting VERY close to a tablet size. I can't see them making 'phablets' much bigger or why even make 7 inch tablets?
Too big to be used comfortably, if this turn out to be true with the Note 3, I will look for alternative mobiles with 5.5 inch screen, I am definitely not buying such a thing.

Everyone says they'll buy it now.... wait till its out no one will buy it. Its not logical to have a phone thats 6.3 inches impossible to carry around. Hell people were whining about the size of the note 2. Unless the size of the screen is right the note 3 wont sell a lot, 8 cores or 12 the PHONE is too big to use. Well thats just my opinion
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Whats interesting is that if you measure diagonally the current note 2 from bezel corner to bezel corner its pretty close to 6.3 inches. So maybe theyll leave the size the same. Eliminate the bezel a lot. Add capacitative buttons. Voila . 6.3 screen mimimal bezel and still has buttons somewhere on screen
With a 6.3 inch screen it's a tablet ... 5.5 inch is already too much for some ppl I know...
i used the galaxy tab 7.7 as a phone(yeah, i heard the calls with it up to my face) so 6.3 is more than welcome only if it has a 1080p screen
New SG4 and Note 3 will have screen along side and also foldable screens.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
It will have 1080p screen and by my calculations you WILL be able to fit a 6.2 inch screen with a 2mm bezel on each side so that the Note3 stays as wide as the current one
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Well it looks like that 'bigger real estate', concerning screen size, is coming...some love the idea, some hate it. The 'phablet' size is going to increase and Samsung seems to be taking the 7 inch tablet to 8....

[FLEXIBLE DISPLAY][OCTO CORE CPU] The Future Is Here - Samsung CES 2013 Discussion

I don't know about you guys, but after watching the keynote with the flexible displays (44minute mark) and octocore CPU presentation I feel like I am in some sci-fi movie. I can't believe they made the flexible display so quickly and that it is so flexible. It's mindblowing! The concepts that they are showing are simply amazing.
For anyone who missed this awesome presentation this is a must watch:
Do you think the Galaxy S4 / Note 3 will get both flexible displays and octo cores?
"Do you think the Galaxy S4 / Note 3 will get both flexible displays and octo cores?"
500% that it wont get. S4/note3 will get full hd amoled and exynos 5 series, S5/Note4 should get octa+flexible.
I have remember first samsung hd amoled screens for note 1, they have released too early without proper testing. Who had note 1, they will know about black color ugly issue. But yeh this is innovation ;D samsung all the way
Don't be so skeptical. I think our Note2s will get flexible displays with a software update to Android 5.0

If I was at Samsung, I would not risk putting flexible displays to any galaxy phone of 2013 bcz so far its just an eye candy concept, no one knows how it will behave once it reaches in the hands of end users, so why risk the galaxy s4 and galaxy note 3? Samsung should first launch it as a seperate samsung galaxy phone and check how the market trend goes, if its really successful, then they can start putting it from 2014 galaxy series.

Um in case if any one didn't notice but the flexible screen is actually bulkier than current amoled in my opinion.
It requires that brick like aparratus attached to one side. If you look at the phone they made it's so thick. if they really wanted to, phone companies can make a smaller phone and add a small strip of screen on the side so you can view storing when the phone cover is closed.
In fact, the thickness may be needed anyways to support touch with the flexible screen.
IMHO only
And the commercial they made was clearly cgi. It looked amazing but I still don't think you can bend youm at sharp angles or have it roll out straight without metal support to keep it from curving.
Oh snap! I don't have a witty tapatalk signature!
that's incredible. another few years for mass production?
What one should understand is it should be flexible. ..it is not going to be card thin. .... the screen will help it being shatter proof. ... though how the impact energy will be transferred to other parts of phone is also important. . .that's all needed for this year. .
.... .paper thin screens are for future

I worry A LOT about its size because according to the most recent rumors it will have a 5.7" display while even the previously rumored 5.99" one disappointed me...
I think these rumors will turn out to be accurate seeing how Samsung recently made the S4's display slightly bigger than the SIII's while actually making the device itself "SMALLER".
I really hope they will offer at least 2 display sizes: a 6.3" one like the Mega (which I can't buy because of its too low specs ) and a smaller one which I really don't care what it will be...

A mobile phone should be the largest size possible which fits where I have *always* kept/carried my mobile phones/smartphones. 7" tablets are too big but not by much (a couple of years ago I tried the original Galaxy Tab 7" as soon as it came out but returned it), a Mega 6.3" would be more or less the perfect size for me. Eventually we will get there, I know it.
I have *always* wanted something like the Mega 6.3", even when people gawked at the first 4" smartphones or, later on, were saying that 4.3"/4.5" were "just too much"...
I think the market will coalesce around a couple of "standard" sizes: 5" and 6.5" (of course with small bezels, light, thin etc)

I am not interested in one handed operation in the slightest. I have always found "irritating" trying to operate touch screen mobile devices one handed, even when smartphones had less than 4" displays.
Large displays may be "overkill" if you look at it (and use it) as a "mobile phone", I see it (and use it) as a "pocket computer" because, well, it is.

7 inch tablet and 6.5 inch phone may have almost the same screen size but ease of handling and using it is not comparable because in most cases phones have very small bezel while tablets have wide one. As stated before if Note 3 has 6 inch screen and is still not much bigger than Note 2 then there is no problem with handling, it would be even easier than Note 2 to use. All that aside, personally I have used 2 hands approach since I got Note 2, the only gripe I have with it is I can't answer phone with one finger without serious stretching... I think it would not be hard to code answering (or not) mechanism that looks like Pie control in shape but from right or left down corner, or even better when phone is ringing and you touch the screen, then from that point sliding left answers the phone, right denies the call (with sliding directions to be configured as you like).
Forgot to mention I have big hands, so this is why it wouldn't be a problem, unlike someone with average sized hands,

I think it would be noticeable if you were moving, say, from 3.5" to 3.7". From 5.5" to 5.7" I'm not so sure it makes much difference. With the Mega 6.3", Samsung proved that the Note 2 bezel can fit a bigger screen without increasing it's size. I believe 5.7" is doable with the current bezel size and 6" with a minor increase in size. Maybe just a couple of millimeters more in width and height.

I had the S3 and the S4, you definitely can notice the difference between the 2 phones in use. It won't be a HUGE difference from 5.5 to 5.7 but it'll be noticeable. Same with the Galaxy S2, I had the I9100 that had a 4.3 inch display and also had the T-Mobile Galaxy S2 which had a 4.5 inch display. You could definitely tell the difference.
I think 5.7 inches would be perfect in order to keep a decent amount of ppi with a 1080P panel. 6+ inches would be too big, in my opinion

[Q] Note 4 Digitizer

Hello, do you have some information about the digitizer. Is it still wacom? And why is the resolution of the digitizer? (More or less than the 1440p?)
The pen with its pressure sensitivity would make the difference for me.
Samsung owns 10% of Wacom and the S Pen looks to be the same as before - so Note 4 definitely uses Wacom.
I wonder if the resolution will match the screen, I suppose it should, we'll see. Anyway, I wouldn't worry. I have Note 10.1 and writing on it is excellent. Note 4 will be better.
Sup
I own a Wacom Intuous Touch 5
Writing on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 feels the same.
Both have 2048 levels of pressure.
Both have palm rejection.
http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxynote4/note4_specs.html
S Pen
15g, Hovering 15mm, Pressure level 2,048
Actually I think the Wacom tablet has more tilt recognition. Don't feel like turning this on and testing it out, but just going off memory, they seem nearly the same.
