If anyone is in the UK looking for contract deals

Anyone know when Three deals will start to hit the third party sites?
Thanks.

Got mine today and what a beauty! I got mine on vodafone through phones 4 u on the red 2gb tariff which is unlimited calls and texts with 2gb of data for £42 a month. I was already with vodafone and still have 6 months left on my old £30 p/m contract for my note1. its going to cost me about £140 to buy out of my original contract :-/. But ....
Phones 4 u gave me £90 towards my buy out and...
Gave me £200 for my original note! I could have got slightly more on ebay but with selling fees it would have been close
Anyway I walked out with a galaxy note 2 and £290 CASH! It seemed amazing as they handed me a wad of cash and a brand new top of the range phone. (Ive had worse days). I have £140 to pay on my old contract but im very pleased overall.
I just thought id share this as an option for anyone waying up how to get there note 2.

Three are pushing two deals at the moment
Both 24 month contracts
2000 mins, 5000 texts, 5000 3 to 3 minutes and unlimited data with tethering (this is what stole my money from Tmobile)
either,
£36/month with £69 for the handset or
£40/month with free handset
I would have preferred to get something on the new EE tariffs but i'm too impatient lol.

Hey, FYI there's £101 pounds cashback on Three's One Plan contracts at topcashback and quidco!!!

Should be, Quidco usually have a count down to the last few remaining days of a particular deal. Its a shame Three only have the white one in stock I am waiting for the grey one.

EE announces they will be carrying the Note II
EE say they'll be carrying the Note II, see http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/47806/samsung-galaxy-note-2-lte-ee-uk-4g
No pricing info yet and you'll need to start on Orange or T-Mobile before transferring across. Typically T-Mobile's crappy website has no detail yet.

[CLOSED/DZ] Where are you getting your Desire Z from? Contract/Sim-Free?

Hey,
Was just wondering where people are planning on getting their Desire Z from and if you are planning on going the contract route or just paying for it out-right and getting a sim-free phone.
As of yet it looks like Play.com , handtec and clove look the best for sim-free.
As for carriers I am yet to see this being advertised on any, only the Desire HD is showing as coming soon.
I had a chat with someone from T-Mobile today and the think they should have them in October and wouldn't say when.
Contract options are going through my current contract with T-Mo and getting a locked and branded handset and keep my unlimited data (3gbs) or going through any of the other carriers through a dif website and their max unlimited data seems to be on T-Mo but is down to a ridiculous 1gb/mnth.
What your thoughts?
Getting mine sim free. Had a Touch Pro 2 which I bought outright, and just got a contract o2 sim from carphonewarehouse which I swapped out to sim only... Running at about £5 p/m... Anyway, TP2 died, sent to insurance, who gave me money towards my new phone
So, looking to get the Desire Z. Prolly gonna go to handtec... Was told that htc only offer the 2 year warranty when bought from authorised htc resellers, otherwise, it's only a 1 year warranty. Anyone know how true this is?
Can't wait till they're released tho Looks a great phone...
Good point about warranty. But I'm going to pay by Egg Money Card to get extended warranty to 24 months.
I remember my last phone from T-Mobile had 2 years warranty. But when I tried to check Handtec and Clove websites I couldn't find anything about warranty period for this phone. But other HTC phones have 2 years warranty.
handtec sell UK stock and is covered by 2 year warranty via HTC. I have my past 4 HTC phones from them.
Sim free from ebay

I was reading somewhere that the date got pushed to October 16th I think for anyone buying from tmobile. I could be wrong though seeing as they have already postponed it once.
As far as contract vs outright, I know I dont have 500 dollars or so lying around and am already tired of ATT service, so im going with the discounted handset and improved service
Always buy sim-free. In Poland contract is installment purchase with very high interest rates in fact. I prefer unlimited internet & text + 1000 minutes instead of new phone with poor plan.
definitely SIM free...in Australia, I would have to wait until around 2011 before I could get this phone on contract - and even then it would be very expensive!
Looking at expansys...which will be selling it for around $760AUD including shipping..but i'll also see what ebay sellers can do! Hopefully around $700!! (or less)
Amazon.co.uk. They won't be available in my country (Slovakia) at launch, plus they will be overpriced as hell. Expansys has it overpriced too (even including the postage fees i will be around 510 euros from Amazon, vs 535 euros from Expansys).
On contract ? LOL. HTC Desire was added to my T-Mobile SK phone list just 2 or 3 weeks ago .
I have a free handset upgrade just sitting in Telstra's system in hopes that the Z will come to them. Either the Z or the Droid 2 World edition or whatever other bad ass phone may come.
I am from New Zealand want a contract free phone i doubt Telecom/Vodafone releases it .They just released Desire & X10
If i buy from UK or any other international seller where is the warranty applicable?? .

Generally the warranty wont be valid outside the country the device was purchased in.......but I cant guarantee that
Best thing might be to email HTC about it???

The question you got to ask yourself with this question is if you like to play around with your phone like flashing roms and all sorts of other stuff on your phone (since you're on here I'm guess that could be a yes)
Do you want to have that process be easy then go with the Z or if you prefer jumping through many hoops and possibly not having that ability you could go with the Moto.
I got to say I love Moto hardware, they have some of the most rock solid build quality and design but how they lock down their devices and have that rubbish blur on it annoys me....not to mention I was about 2 seconds away from buying a Milestone last year when it was released and seeing that it might never get its 2.2 update really makes me glad I didn't.

You might want to have a closer look into how much that 'unlimited internet' is that they are giving you. I was doing one of those chat things with one of their sales team and turns out that even though they were offering me a T-Mobile contract that it would be through mobilephonesdirect and so their unlimited internet is only 1Gb instead of T-Mobiles 3Gb which I though was a total rip-off.
Let us know when your phone finally arrives, not heard many good things about that company. Hope everything goes well.
by contract, vodafone NL 200, €25 pm for free, hopefully by the 15th oct, otherwise 8th nov
Still waiting for offers. Currently only vodafone is offering a not expensive contract here in Holland. Now €25.
Problem is that the " unlimited" internet here is limited, except on t- mobile. So ill wait a bit since my contract will end in the beginning of November.

Their deals have changed. When I went into work the next day after ordering this package, my boss asked why I didn't get a phone through our company, as he can claim money back or something. So I had him look into a deal for me and if it worked out better, I'd cancel this one. I went back to the site to double-check what the deal was so I could give my boss the full details and I couldn't see the package I had ordered the night previously. So by the looks of things, it is no longer available.

Worth the sim free cost?

I know most people have their DHD on contract and will therefore be paying a relatively small amount for the phone. Naturally, the majority of contributors here are delighted with the phone.
Now what I am interested to know is whether those that have paid the sim free price of around £500 for the phone think it's worth it - and would those that have it on contract be prepared to pay £500?
I have a fantastic contract currently and am not due an upgrade anytime soon so sim free is the only option for me if I want to grab the DHD.
i had an contract with an hd2 and i liked android verry much, however i wanted to have an android device that was designed to run android. So i decided to sell my HD2 and buy an DHD sim free. and its worth it
I was going to buy the handset but with the contract I have it works out a lot better, and it is a sim free model to which is a bonus. I would still buy this phone for 480 still as I don't regret choosing this at all.

if you really want it you buy it sim free then when you renew if there is nothing you really want in the new contract you just get the one which you can resell on say ebay for the most

Or negotiate a cracking discount in the monthly line rental (as I did last time round)
Glad to hear the responses so far, still reluctant to part with such cash though!
Got it Sim Free...and worth every penny..!!! Just love it...Leave these inhibitions goto a Store and feel a DHD, u'll never regret
Work out the pros and cons.
Contract phone, cost per month multiply by contract length.
Sim free phone, cost of handset plus cost of calls and internet over same period.
You will find (most times) contract may be a little more expensive.
Now, at end of contract, you can upgrade to best phone at time and start again.
With Sim free, you can sell phone anytime (after a week if you decide you do not like it) and upgrade to any phone, you also have choice of changing phone company to cheapest or best plan.
Do not go by contract that offers X number of free texts or X number of free minutes phone calls unless you would actually use them, as you will be paying for something you do not need.
I would not buy the Phone without a contract.
I have the phone for free with a 2 year contract. The contract includes internet, call & text and the total I pay for the 2 year contract (if I do not exceed the limits) is only about 50 euro's more than if I would have bought the Phone separately. Get me a 2 year contract for <50 euro including internet, minutes & text and I'll revise this comment
I bought a sim free model as I already have a superb contract with 3uk (750 min, unlimited text, 3000 3~3 mins and wait for it unlimited data with fair use of 2gb of data for £29.50 pm) i wouldn't trade in my 2gb allowance for anything and 3 did suggest i paid my current contract off for a new 18 month one at £35 pm .. £630 over 18 months plus the £295 left on my contract so £295
when asked if they would match the 2gb fair use as its now 1gb as i go over 2gb they advised they wouldn't ..
I had 10 months left so that's £295 plus the cost of the handset unlocked and unbranded from 3 £449 total cost £744 however i retained my 2gb allowance and to be honest when i get bored of the handset i can flog it on eBay..
You have to work out pro and cons

If they are definitely unlocked and unbranded I may just cancel my order and go with that!
I've had two (as first one faulty ) 3 wanted to get them out so unlocked, this happened on desire to for first few months the handsets were unlocked then after first batch went they were locked down I'd just check

I only buy sim-free phones for full price, as i hate being locked by contract. And considering i pay 6.9€ for 1GB data package + the costs for calls (0.12€/min, 0.06€/SMS), it's a perfect option.
For most phones, being on contract in my country usually means paying a lot more than the retail price. For example, the cheapest price for Desire HD right now on contract in my country is 209 euros, and that includes a prety high monthly bill.

Mind me asking how long ago you got your second one? Credit to the 3 store I called today, he said the phones are locked to 3 but when quizzed said he assumes they are but they don't have a different sim to try. He did say I could try my sim in it though.
I didn't bother in the end as there was only one in stock - likely this would be a demo model and it meant racing across town to catch it which I didn't have time to do!
Might pay a visit tomorrow ... we'll see.
Some interesting points here folks, thanks for your replies.
I am all for buying sim free as you get a better choice of handset and can ditch it for a new one whenever you like. Personally I prefer to keep hold of a device for a while - it's just a question of finding the right one.
I also prefer the reduced line rental. Currently £5 / month for me inc 600 mins, unlimited txt and 3GB data allowance. I can't complain at that even if I do have to fork out £450 for the phone!
I've just done a deal for one with Phones4u in the UK.
I was told the phones are in stock, are unbranded and unlocked to any carrier.
I got mine for FREE on t-Mobile, with 600 mins + 3000 texts, which turns out to be the unlimited texts booster and I can change that after 30 days to the unlimited internet booster and drop to 500 texts (but I've got a couple of months left on my old contract so my existing O2 sim will be in the DHD for a while until the internet booster is applied).
Oh, and TopCashBack are offering £35.35 cashback on new web deals with phones4u, so I got this too!!!
I've had their eyes out!!! I'm expecting a rather lovely package being delivered on saturday.....
Sounds a decent deal Rob, how much a month and over what contract duration?
Did you have to fight for the deal or was it standard?
12 month contract is best (if you can get one)
I got my Desire HD around three weeks ago from vodafone. 300 mins + unlimited texts + unlimited data (fair use policy). For £40 a month and free handset.
Might seem a high monthly price but it is a 12 month contract, so the total price for handset and contract is £480. Which is about the same as the sim free price for the phone alone. So for me it is a no brainer.
I can also upgrade my handset 3 months before the end of my contract, so as long as nothing fantastic comes out in the next nine months, its cool and even if it does the price will settle by the time my contract is over.
For a added bonus it is unbranded and unlocked. Happy Days!!

The Three UK deal is better, or if 1gb is ok these are far cheaper (£100 to be exact).
£31.00 £149.99 24 Months Unlimited Unlimited 1GB = £894
£26.00 £249.99 24 Months Unlimited Unlimited 1GB = £874
There is also Cashback of £50.50 available on o2 if you go through a cashback site. I could also get O2 30% discount on a entire contract which reduces the price to £740 (£41, £50 phone, same 2gb) but i'm not a huge fan of o2 as I am experiencing now. V poor signal where i am

yes but, the chances of being locked on all other carriers are equal. Best deal for the phone isn't necessarily going to be meaning unlocked because no one knows as of yet.

I think that 2GB data is going to be essential for the Sony Xperia Z (as a minimum - despite it being the highest ammount o2 offer) seeing as it uses 4G (which despite it being quicker than 3G means it will uses data more quickly). For £5 less (£26) you'd get 1 GB less with unlimited calls and texts - but I don't think that amount of data would suffice. I think £31 per month is pretty good though for unlimited calls, texts and 2GB data

Actually, no. Sony gives the headphones to Three, Three distributes them. You don't get them directly from Sony.
where does it say this? As o2 and others are doing the same deal, so im sure you will have to send of to sony for the headsets
Just upgraded my O2 contract. Picked the £26/month deal with £250 upfront because the others seemed too steep and I'm always around WiFi anyway.
My order includes the MDR-1 headphones and a free headset also. Edit: Sorry no headset, must have misread on some other site.
Anyone know if O2 put branding or labels on their phones still? I haven't had a carrier phone in years and years.
How bad is the software bloat with them? I'm guessing we can flash to stock ROMs once the phone hits...
did they give u the headsets there and then?
o2 don't put branding or logos on their phones these days, or even bloatware (that's going back about 6 years ago now when they were last doing that)

Sending Mine Back to P4U

Well I bought sim free, it arrived, I had a couple of days with it and now i'm sending it back.
Why I hear you all cry ..... well quite simply because the phone is that good I'm going to commit to a 2 year contract with it. Not sure just who to go with yet, so anyone with any suggestions that would be great (I live essex/herts way and work in london, am currently on t-mobile, who have improved quite a bit last few months)
I really like it, I really do, have one or two little annoyances, but generally I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a phone that much (maybe iphone 4)
So yeah, i'ts going back but i'm gonna commit (and for someone like me who changed phones and find fault with phones all the time thats quite a big thing !!!)
I upgraded to the Orange panther 41 contract through p4u, 18 month, 600 mins, unlimited text, 1gb data, HTC One silver free with flip cover.
The best bits are, p4u gives 5 pounds discount on the tarrif so 36 per month, then they give 144 pounds cash back (directly wire to my bank 42 days after activation) so effectively I am paying 28 pounds for 18 month!
Good deal you think?
The reason I could get that was because dialaphone was doing a new contract deal, essentially the same as mine but with 4 redemptions each 36 pounds.
And I mentioned that to p4u so they matched the price.
Just checked dialaphone, they don't do this deal anymore but panther 36 with means only 400 mins and 750mb data. Same price with 4 redemption.

Same price with 4 redemption.

almost the same as me, except i got mine from dialaphone - though my cashback is in installments instead of in one lump sum - dialaphone did offer me a lump sum, but it wasnt as much as im getting now - now i will get £144, they offered me £100 in a lump sum.
i might call up and ask them to switch me to the lump sum - i will probably forget all about the bill sending in thing!
also, did you use a cashback site?
with quidco or topcashback you can/could get an extra £70 cashback
edit. regarding who to go for - yea the deal h.han and I got is the cheapest of all I think, depends whether what is included fits your needs and whether orange/tmobile/ee are good in your area.

Sounds a fantastic deal but i had such **** with orange a year or two back i vowed never to go back to them, now they and t-mobile have merged it might not matter that much .... if anyone see's any other good deals i'd appreciate it !!! thanks to you guys for posting this up
P4U are usually the best however i went direct through Vodafone this time and i got;
Free Phone
Free Flip Cover
£37 per month with Unlimited Calls, Text and 1GB data (unlimited for 3 months) on a 24 month contract.
Also got the phone within 2 business days of ordering
your t-mobile has gotten better recently because they now share networks with orange and also EE
i would also say don't let a free flip case from any company sway you - its crap lol

I did not go through cashback site cos I was looking for upgrade.
I did ordered a new contract at that time on dialaphone through quidco initially, but it was a mistake, I thought I could port my existing Orange number to the new Orange contract, but that's not possible so I cancelled that. And accidentally had a chat with p4u so they offered me the same deal as dialaphone but upgrade, too good to miss so I took it.
No cashback from quidco though, but I am happy.

I don't have good experience with Orange either, their 3G is the slowest amongst all the operators because they didn't buy the best 3G frequency, and I had to upgrade 4 times since last Friday through p4u and make tons of call to Orange to remove a stupid flag in their system to get my 4th upgrade attempt approved.
But their price is the cheapest through p4u so I just took it.
Oh, by the way, the 4G from EE definitely is the fastest in all operators since the frequency band is very good.

here's a question
like ee say you have 1gb of 4g data per month
what happens if you go over that, does 3g signal count towards that etc ???
im even contemplating going 4g ... i would go with 3 but i cant get signal in my spare room and thats where i tend to spend a lot of my time working of weekends

dont you have wifi at home?
i am assuming that by paying EE for 4g, you are simply paying for "access" to their 4g network - your 1gb will be depleted whether or not you use the 4g or not.

And to add to that, maybe I am misleading here, my contract is with Orange, the 3G brand of EE, so I do not have any 4G service in my tarrif, only 3G.
If you want to sign a 4G deal with EE, the price will be much higher.
With 4G service, it only means the option of connecting to 4G is there, but whether you will get 4G in your area or not, is irrelevant and those 1gb usage includes all traffic on 4G, 3G and GPRS.
If you go over, you will need to pay extra to get additional data.

No option for delivery, and doesn't seem to be instock anywhere. I've checked quite a few postcodes and it checks the 10 closest stores.

It's now back to its original price!
Never once saw it available either for delivery or collection at any of the local and nearby stores. Seems like a scam to get you into the shop or something weird?

From their Twitter account:
I am sorry the deal was only on for 1 week and as it was such a good deal we quickly sold out of stock in most areas. It may go down in price again in the future however we are not given any prior knowledge of this. Julie
Hi, I have checked and we we will be getting more stock in of 133/4139 around the 19th January. Julie

Yes, but at the offer price or not? Not much of a bargain otherwise.

Well as she said it's unknown. Seems like a dirty trick to get people visit their site to keep checking stock. I don't believe there ever was even stock of 1 Moto G 16GB. Surely London would have at least some stock if there was stock.
Kept checking Argos website every day and never seen 16 GB in stock. And even now when the price went back up to £169.95 Moto G is out of stock.
I tend to ignore these Argos deals now. It's just a dirty trick to get publicity on Hot UK Deals. These have never been in stock while at this price, just as the LTE Nexus 7 wasn't £269 until it was already out of stock. If you want one of these the bigger Tescos tend to have stock of the 16GB now. For £131 unlocked they're still a bargain.
its definitely a trick Argos do. I've noticed it on all kinds of things they sell, whenever they come up on price match sites, it is ALWAYS out of stock.
Tesco is the best bet, 129 pay and go, and then 2 pound to unlock..

I'm considering picking one up for free* on a Tescomobile contract - £12.50 per month for 500MB data or £15 for 1GB - uses o2 network - o2 would charge me £16 for 750Mb data sim only contract direct through them. Only thing that's making me pause is more expensive data roaming charges with tescomobile.
*not quite free - I'd have to pay £60 to terminate my current o2 sim only contract....

over 12-24 months its nearly always cheaper to buy the handset outright and then go on sim only plan.
Buy the phone, stick with you current sim only contract until it expires (im guessing soon if 60 is the buy out), then move onto Three Mobile.
Just picked up mine today at P4U. The guy told me no 16GB version so I was sad untill he scanned and showed on screen 16GB version. He looked at the box and YES! it was the 16GB version. So paid £169 for phone only (no contract, no PAYGO). And still got free back cover. Happy days (after 2 8GB's).

I'm using mine on OVIVO payg £20 for the SIM £15 you keep credit. You get 200 minutes 300 texts and 500mb every month and you NEVER need to top up again. Ive had it 6 or 7 months and other than buying SIM it's cost nothing!

Ovivo is a one-off charge of £20 for the sim and nothing more to pay, ever. The service is ad-funded. The ads are fairly obtrusive (every 3 pages or so) on your browser but are not tripped on other apps using your data allowance. Downside is that Ovivo piggybacks on Vodaphone so your data availability may be patchy here and there and speeds aren't great. Voice and Text are usually OK pretty much everywhere.
Outside of crazy misprices and huge cashback deals, it is the cheapest deal for low users.
