[CLOSED/DZ] Where are you getting your Desire Z from? Contract/Sim-Free? - G2 and Desire Z General

Hey,
Was just wondering where people are planning on getting their Desire Z from and if you are planning on going the contract route or just paying for it out-right and getting a sim-free phone.
As of yet it looks like Play.com , handtec and clove look the best for sim-free.
As for carriers I am yet to see this being advertised on any, only the Desire HD is showing as coming soon.
I had a chat with someone from T-Mobile today and the think they should have them in October and wouldn't say when.
Contract options are going through my current contract with T-Mo and getting a locked and branded handset and keep my unlimited data (3gbs) or going through any of the other carriers through a dif website and their max unlimited data seems to be on T-Mo but is down to a ridiculous 1gb/mnth.
What your thoughts?

Getting mine sim free. Had a Touch Pro 2 which I bought outright, and just got a contract o2 sim from carphonewarehouse which I swapped out to sim only... Running at about £5 p/m... Anyway, TP2 died, sent to insurance, who gave me money towards my new phone
So, looking to get the Desire Z. Prolly gonna go to handtec... Was told that htc only offer the 2 year warranty when bought from authorised htc resellers, otherwise, it's only a 1 year warranty. Anyone know how true this is?
Can't wait till they're released tho Looks a great phone...

Good point about warranty. But I'm going to pay by Egg Money Card to get extended warranty to 24 months.
I remember my last phone from T-Mobile had 2 years warranty. But when I tried to check Handtec and Clove websites I couldn't find anything about warranty period for this phone. But other HTC phones have 2 years warranty.

handtec sell UK stock and is covered by 2 year warranty via HTC. I have my past 4 HTC phones from them.

Sim free from ebay

I was reading somewhere that the date got pushed to October 16th I think for anyone buying from tmobile. I could be wrong though seeing as they have already postponed it once.
As far as contract vs outright, I know I dont have 500 dollars or so lying around and am already tired of ATT service, so im going with the discounted handset and improved service

Always buy sim-free. In Poland contract is installment purchase with very high interest rates in fact. I prefer unlimited internet & text + 1000 minutes instead of new phone with poor plan.

definitely SIM free...in Australia, I would have to wait until around 2011 before I could get this phone on contract - and even then it would be very expensive!
Looking at expansys...which will be selling it for around $760AUD including shipping..but i'll also see what ebay sellers can do! Hopefully around $700!! (or less)

Amazon.co.uk. They won't be available in my country (Slovakia) at launch, plus they will be overpriced as hell. Expansys has it overpriced too (even including the postage fees i will be around 510 euros from Amazon, vs 535 euros from Expansys).
On contract ? LOL. HTC Desire was added to my T-Mobile SK phone list just 2 or 3 weeks ago .

I have a free handset upgrade just sitting in Telstra's system in hopes that the Z will come to them. Either the Z or the Droid 2 World edition or whatever other bad ass phone may come.

I am from New Zealand want a contract free phone i doubt Telecom/Vodafone releases it .They just released Desire & X10
If i buy from UK or any other international seller where is the warranty applicable?? .

Generally the warranty wont be valid outside the country the device was purchased in.......but I cant guarantee that
Best thing might be to email HTC about it???

The question you got to ask yourself with this question is if you like to play around with your phone like flashing roms and all sorts of other stuff on your phone (since you're on here I'm guess that could be a yes)
Do you want to have that process be easy then go with the Z or if you prefer jumping through many hoops and possibly not having that ability you could go with the Moto.
I got to say I love Moto hardware, they have some of the most rock solid build quality and design but how they lock down their devices and have that rubbish blur on it annoys me....not to mention I was about 2 seconds away from buying a Milestone last year when it was released and seeing that it might never get its 2.2 update really makes me glad I didn't.

You might want to have a closer look into how much that 'unlimited internet' is that they are giving you. I was doing one of those chat things with one of their sales team and turns out that even though they were offering me a T-Mobile contract that it would be through mobilephonesdirect and so their unlimited internet is only 1Gb instead of T-Mobiles 3Gb which I though was a total rip-off.
Let us know when your phone finally arrives, not heard many good things about that company. Hope everything goes well.

by contract, vodafone NL 200, €25 pm for free, hopefully by the 15th oct, otherwise 8th nov

Still waiting for offers. Currently only vodafone is offering a not expensive contract here in Holland. Now €25.
Problem is that the " unlimited" internet here is limited, except on t- mobile. So ill wait a bit since my contract will end in the beginning of November.

Their deals have changed. When I went into work the next day after ordering this package, my boss asked why I didn't get a phone through our company, as he can claim money back or something. So I had him look into a deal for me and if it worked out better, I'd cancel this one. I went back to the site to double-check what the deal was so I could give my boss the full details and I couldn't see the package I had ordered the night previously. So by the looks of things, it is no longer available.

Where did/are you getting your Touch HD from?

I'm mainly interested in the UK buyers really, but I guess this thread could be useful for anyone if everyone posts where they got it and how much it cost?
I have a contract with 02 already and so have no choice but to buy the phone sim free. I have it pre-ordered through Play.com so is setting me back £520. This will be the first time I've bought a phone without my provider having given me it for free/nominal fee...I'm having a hard time coming to terms with such an outlay. I could buy a laptop for this price! I still want it though, it looks great!
i pre-ordered mine from clove - cost 482 pound with dhl shippment to croatia.
Will preorder tomorrow from www.digitec.ch.
Cost: CHF 689.- (with renewal of my subscription).

I am thinking of doing the same thing as this would be my first phone sim free too as well as windows mobile and although it is a lot I worked out that it could be cheaper then you think. As I put into the equation that if I got this from T-Mobile I would have to pay about £100-£150 for the phone plus my phone bill would be around £35-£45 per month on an 18 month contract.
But if I bought the HD sim free and changed to the t-mobile sim only deal (£25) I could save around £300 plus having to pay around £100 for the phone it comes to a total of around £400 or even more.
So in a way it does not cost that much but the only problem is paying a big lump sum rather then spread it out (thanks Capital one for your 0% interest until November 09).
My only problem is who to buy from?
I'm probably going to be getting one from Expansys along with a T-Mo web'n'walk contract.
I am in the same boat. I am only 8 months in on an 18 month contract with 3 network. I really want the phone. At £500+ for the handset and then just use my USIM in it (hoping it works and is compatible) seems a lot. However I could by a second contract with O2 and get the phone free on a £35 contract and pay around £580 in total for an 18th month contract overall. So for £80 more I get lots of minutes and texts over 18 months as opposed to nothing at all when just buying the handset. Decisions decisions.
Speaking from the other side of the pond...I preordered mine a month ago from Expansys USA for $885CAN, which at the moment is 453GBP. Not bad considering they want $1100CAN now.
i pre ordered mine from www.pdaplaza.ca last week at $940can , i will get it tomorow, they now sell it for $971 can
Pre ordered mine from here: http://www.algebeld.nl/index.php?Pa...tegories=0&ProductPlusProducts=0&DataBundel=0
I have also ordered an 8GB micro SD from Play, but wouldn't mind finding out if the UK sim free ones come with one, as another guy on this forum from NL said his did.
I've justified the cost to myself by the fact that I have sold two of my old phones and will 'only' need to put £220 to it to make up the balance.
I'll buy mine from o2 germany, because I have contract there. I hope that its coming this week, I'm soooooo curious.. I want it!!! So, I'll have to pay 290€ for it (in terms of contract, with 30€ per month), I think this is ok. Greez, cad^^
Wow! Guys in Canada can have their Touch HD's by tomorrow!!! awesome!
please do post ur reviews here once u get them. I am really concerned about its navigational capabilites, coz of lack of the DPAD.
I want to order the phone in USA, as my cousins staying in Manhattan will have to get it for me in December.
Long wait for me!
PS: PLEASE suggest me some "non-ebay Online Stores" where i can buy the Touch HD, with a creditcard.
Thanks.

If I do go for the Touch HD (considering SE X1 too - difficult choice), then I would probably (at this point) get it from Mobiles.co.uk.
I phoned up and told them that Orange have exclusivity on it in the UK (until 01 Jan 09 I believe).
However, the guy (who wasn't that informed it seemed) said that if it was on the site then it was authorised for sale.
Also, I saw on one website, a recent post said that with tariffs on O2 above 600 minutes, you get free web access as an "O2 Bolt-On". Seems like a good deal.
Unfortunately, O2 itself will have no stock and I've been out of my contract for 1 month now waiting for the X1 to come out. Therefore, I'd have to get a new contract, and a new number (you can't transfer an O2 number to a new O2 number provided by a third party I think).

I decided to go for O2 from mobiles.co.uk, as 600mins with a free internet bolt-on is a sweet deal. Only time will tell if they manage get around the exclusivity deal but I'd rather peel my face off than sign up to Orange's garbage contracts with a data package that is cat vomit.
Got mine this morning from www.pdaplaza.ca in montreal, i just love it

[Q] Buymobilephones.net

Has anyone received their handset through Buymobilephones.net yet?
I placed my order 3 weeks ago on a £25 T-Mobile tarrif and just keep receiving Stock Expected Soon e-mails.
I phoned them today as my O2 PACnumber expires soon and they told me that they were not expecting stock for a few weeks as T-mobile had pulled the phone for software issues. This is strange as I went to my local T-mobile shop at the weekend and they had 2 in stock which they were keen to sell me (well one of them at least) but I wasn't willing to pay the additional £10 per month or the £150 phone cost to keep the £25 contract.
So what's going on?
Buymobilephones.net defined a few weeks for me in case I needed any help in that regard as 4-6 weeks - that's a lifetime.
I think it might be time to cancel your order and buy elsewhere.
Judging by comments here on XDA and elsewhere, the vast majority of UK users experienced no more than a few days of waiting for their Omnia 7s, a week in some cases, but very rarely more than that.
3 kept me waiting for ten days before I cancelled my order with them and went with T-Mobile; my own experience with T-Mo was that the handset was out of stock when I ordered, but 24 hours later I was told that the handset was back in stock, and the morning after that, I received my handset, and that was ten days ago.
It's also worth noting that T-Mobile hasn't installed any software on the phone, so the usual network customisation delays don't apply here; the only soft customisation they've applied is a T-Mo logo splash screen on start-up.
Seems to me that you can either accept buymobilephones.net's explanation and sit tight until they deliver (£25pm with a free handset is a pretty good deal after all, and you can always request a new PAC from O2 once you've got a delivery date); or you can get on to buymobilephones.net and ask them why they're keeping you waiting when T-Mobile have been shipping these things out to their customers for a while now.
By the way, looking at the small print of that deal you've got, it appears that you can either have the unlimited text booster that they've 'included' in the £25pm price, or you can swap that for a web ('unlimited internet') booster. If you want to have both the unlimited texts AND the web, you'll have to get an additional booster for an extra £5 a month, so the total cost will be £30pm, not £25pm. You WILL need a web booster though, you can't do without it on this phone - but as long as you're happy to live with web but without the unlimited texts (you'll still get 500 texts included), you can keep the price down to £25pm.
If you need BOTH web and unlimited texts, maybe you can find an alternative deal elsewhere with a free handset for £30pm?
Right - you prompted me to act.
I phoned T-mobile and asked if they could improve their £35 per month Tarrif - they agreed to reduce it to £30 per month (600mins, 500texts, unlimited internet +an additional booster). Then I agreed and proceeded with the order and informed them that I was an existing customer - so they agreed to reduce it further. In the end I had to pay £35 for the handset but I received the above tarrif for £25. And better than that - my phone will arrive tomorrow.
Big fat smiley face.
Just hope the phone is good now.

That's an excellent deal.
I noticed today that the 10 day delivery had gone from the T-Mobile website so I rang them up to check and stock was back in but the best they could do for me was 30 pounds, the phone free, 3gb but at 2 years
I am never ever going to be tied into a 2 year contract, I hate having to sign up for 18 months as that is too long really. So I will have to wait until buymobilephones get them in stock as at least I can get 18 months at 25 pounds with the phone costing 10 pounds.
A plus for you is that you get the 3gb and high speed without having to phone the sales reps until one switches you over - they shouldn't really as its only for T-Mobile sales and not resellers.
Have fun tomorrow with your new phone.

I was in the exact same boat. Decided to call Orange (who I'm currently with) and quoted my "friend's" (your) t-mobile deal.
I managed to get 600mins, unlimited texts, internet, 3 extra magic numbers (I'm now on 6) and orange wednesdays ofcourse for £22.50 a month with the phone costing £15! Thanks "friend"!
I have a feeling that I may be on the rubbish 500mb internet but she didn't day. If I am then I will moan and see if I can get it to 1gb.
Phone arrives tomorrow. Can't wait. And buymobilephones.net, I want my 3 weeks of missed WP7 awesomeness back!
Think of it this way, by waiting 3 weeks you have saved money each month over the next 2 years
And anyone waiting on buymobilephones they have said the T-Mobile Omnia 7 is in Monday with enough stock to clear all back orders.
Looks like buymobilephones are expecting them from Tmobile on monday . Can't wait to play with mine. Check out their twitter feed!
Edit: As posted above by root beer.
Does anyone know if Tmobile know that the phone has been bought from a 3rd party reseller? I'm wondering because I want to try and get moved onto the 3gb fup. If I pretend I bought direct they might be more cooperative.

Well, surely they'll know that you didn't buy it from them, as there will be no record of the transaction. A third party reseller is a shop, don't forget. Buying from shops is normal.
Yes but the contract is with T mobile regardless of where I bought it from. I will be paying them directly for my contract. Its just I will only get the 1gb fup for buying from 3rd party.
Just called Orange and got the data increased to 1GB from 500MB free of charge with no hassle. If anyone here is on Orange and is a returning customer it should be no problem as you can't really expect to fully utilise this operating system with 500MB and I think the highest they have on their online plans is 750MB. Just be polite to the person on the phone.
i asked at upgrades and they said they couldn't do that for me but gave me a dongle for mobile internet for 500MB instead??
i guess i won't need the mobile wifi hotspot feature now but i think i still would have prefered 1GB or more

Odd. When I phoned them, they said they couldn't price-match. Maybe it's cause I'm not on orange at the moment.
Had pre-ordered the HTC Mozart, but it's still out of stock on orange. Might see if I can swap it for the Omnia 7 on T-mobile, seeing as it's in stock.
Well after 4 days using my new toy and after all that messing with BMP.net I have phoned T-Mobile to arrange for it to be shipped back to them. I am not happy - primarily with WP7. I hope it will improve given a few updates but having used various incarnations of WM6 I am not hugely confident.
So my phone is going back and I have ordered an HTC Desire HD to replace it - I love my Desire so I am sure the Desire HD will be fantastic. I will miss the AMOLED screen most of all - I do so like black to be black.

I wouldn't order from anyone else.
Ordered an Omnia 7 on H3G at 2.30pm and received the phone at 1pm the following day. Superb, quick service.
I really like WP7. The interface is clean and very quick. Internet, e-mails, text etc are all lightning fast.
I can't understand all those people who get a WP7 based phone, and then complain it doesn't do this or that. If you want a customizeable phone, go with Android or WM6.5.
WP7 devices are brilliant IMHO. At the end of the day it is a PHONE. If you want all the other bells and whistles.... Get a laptop!!!

Love the phone...

Worth the sim free cost?

I know most people have their DHD on contract and will therefore be paying a relatively small amount for the phone. Naturally, the majority of contributors here are delighted with the phone.
Now what I am interested to know is whether those that have paid the sim free price of around £500 for the phone think it's worth it - and would those that have it on contract be prepared to pay £500?
I have a fantastic contract currently and am not due an upgrade anytime soon so sim free is the only option for me if I want to grab the DHD.
i had an contract with an hd2 and i liked android verry much, however i wanted to have an android device that was designed to run android. So i decided to sell my HD2 and buy an DHD sim free. and its worth it
I was going to buy the handset but with the contract I have it works out a lot better, and it is a sim free model to which is a bonus. I would still buy this phone for 480 still as I don't regret choosing this at all.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
if you really want it you buy it sim free then when you renew if there is nothing you really want in the new contract you just get the one which you can resell on say ebay for the most

Glad to hear the responses so far, still reluctant to part with such cash though!
Got it Sim Free...and worth every penny..!!! Just love it...Leave these inhibitions goto a Store and feel a DHD, u'll never regret
Work out the pros and cons.
Contract phone, cost per month multiply by contract length.
Sim free phone, cost of handset plus cost of calls and internet over same period.
You will find (most times) contract may be a little more expensive.
Now, at end of contract, you can upgrade to best phone at time and start again.
With Sim free, you can sell phone anytime (after a week if you decide you do not like it) and upgrade to any phone, you also have choice of changing phone company to cheapest or best plan.
Do not go by contract that offers X number of free texts or X number of free minutes phone calls unless you would actually use them, as you will be paying for something you do not need.
I would not buy the Phone without a contract.
I have the phone for free with a 2 year contract. The contract includes internet, call & text and the total I pay for the 2 year contract (if I do not exceed the limits) is only about 50 euro's more than if I would have bought the Phone separately. Get me a 2 year contract for <50 euro including internet, minutes & text and I'll revise this comment
I bought a sim free model as I already have a superb contract with 3uk (750 min, unlimited text, 3000 3~3 mins and wait for it unlimited data with fair use of 2gb of data for £29.50 pm) i wouldn't trade in my 2gb allowance for anything and 3 did suggest i paid my current contract off for a new 18 month one at £35 pm .. £630 over 18 months plus the £295 left on my contract so £295
when asked if they would match the 2gb fair use as its now 1gb as i go over 2gb they advised they wouldn't ..
I had 10 months left so that's £295 plus the cost of the handset unlocked and unbranded from 3 £449 total cost £744 however i retained my 2gb allowance and to be honest when i get bored of the handset i can flog it on eBay..
You have to work out pro and cons

If they are definitely unlocked and unbranded I may just cancel my order and go with that!
I've had two (as first one faulty ) 3 wanted to get them out so unlocked, this happened on desire to for first few months the handsets were unlocked then after first batch went they were locked down I'd just check

I only buy sim-free phones for full price, as i hate being locked by contract. And considering i pay 6.9€ for 1GB data package + the costs for calls (0.12€/min, 0.06€/SMS), it's a perfect option.
For most phones, being on contract in my country usually means paying a lot more than the retail price. For example, the cheapest price for Desire HD right now on contract in my country is 209 euros, and that includes a prety high monthly bill.

Mind me asking how long ago you got your second one? Credit to the 3 store I called today, he said the phones are locked to 3 but when quizzed said he assumes they are but they don't have a different sim to try. He did say I could try my sim in it though.
I didn't bother in the end as there was only one in stock - likely this would be a demo model and it meant racing across town to catch it which I didn't have time to do!
Might pay a visit tomorrow ... we'll see.
Some interesting points here folks, thanks for your replies.
I am all for buying sim free as you get a better choice of handset and can ditch it for a new one whenever you like. Personally I prefer to keep hold of a device for a while - it's just a question of finding the right one.
I also prefer the reduced line rental. Currently £5 / month for me inc 600 mins, unlimited txt and 3GB data allowance. I can't complain at that even if I do have to fork out £450 for the phone!
I've just done a deal for one with Phones4u in the UK.
I was told the phones are in stock, are unbranded and unlocked to any carrier.
I got mine for FREE on t-Mobile, with 600 mins + 3000 texts, which turns out to be the unlimited texts booster and I can change that after 30 days to the unlimited internet booster and drop to 500 texts (but I've got a couple of months left on my old contract so my existing O2 sim will be in the DHD for a while until the internet booster is applied).
Oh, and TopCashBack are offering £35.35 cashback on new web deals with phones4u, so I got this too!!!
I've had their eyes out!!! I'm expecting a rather lovely package being delivered on saturday.....
Sounds a decent deal Rob, how much a month and over what contract duration?
Did you have to fight for the deal or was it standard?
12 month contract is best (if you can get one)
I got my Desire HD around three weeks ago from vodafone. 300 mins + unlimited texts + unlimited data (fair use policy). For £40 a month and free handset.
Might seem a high monthly price but it is a 12 month contract, so the total price for handset and contract is £480. Which is about the same as the sim free price for the phone alone. So for me it is a no brainer.
I can also upgrade my handset 3 months before the end of my contract, so as long as nothing fantastic comes out in the next nine months, its cool and even if it does the price will settle by the time my contract is over.
For a added bonus it is unbranded and unlocked. Happy Days!!

Orange/EE

Anyone here who placed pre order via Orange website got a dispatch confirmation?
I am not happy with Orange at all, they would not let me pre order it as I am upgrading early. I am ready to pay fee and cost and order one but still they refused to reserve one for me.

Ordered mine from P4U but on Orange / EE, silver and loving it
What sort of deals (not standard prices but real haggle deals) are people getting on P4U?
I have been forced to stay with Orange but have continued to complain due to false information and managed to get, what i think, is a great deal.
Originally,
£36 per month
£69 Handset cost
Unlimited Minutes,
Unlimited Texts,
1GB of Data
Total Cost : £993
I got this down to:
£26 per month
£29 Handset cost
Unlimited Minutes,
Unlimited Texts,
1GB of Data
Total Cost : £653
Now i have it at:
£26 per month
£NO Handset cost
Unlimited Minutes,
Unlimited Texts,
2GB of Data
£60 account credit
Total Cost : £564
However, with that, i dont actually have the phone yet!! haha
Im just wondering if i should ditch the deal and go to P4U?
Got mine about a week ago on EE as an early upgrade from Orange had so much trouble getting my EE sim working though! But 4G is definitely worth it

That is a great deal you have there... Did you talk to the upgrade department of was it another department who approved that? I'd love to quote what you have if you don't mind? when you say false information what do mean? Did someone give you misinformation?
Sorry for all the questions but I'm due an upgrade and my current deal Canary of £15 per month (loyalty discount been with orange years) plus £6 insurance, 1400 minutes, unlimited text and 1GB of data is currently all I need but my Sensation running CM10 is starting to show it's age do you have a name of agent who got your final package?

Several different people and several different conversations and calls I’m afraid.
I’m not sure you will be able to get a match on the deal but it’s always worth a try.
To give you some basic background info on my account.
I have 4 contracts on my account and have had for around 8 years.
I pay them in the region of £110 per month for those with a £40 loyalty discount per month (£10 on each contract so would be £150).
I initially spoke to a guy on their online chat back at the start of the month, he was unable to let me pre order the phone as it wasn’t released yet. I could pre order on their website but that would have been at full price with not discounts or loyalty dc.
He offered to call me back and never did.
With that I called and politely complained about the lack of call back and was told I still couldn’t pre order the phone as their systems wouldn’t let them.
Then after a series of calls speaking to various different people where I was quoted various different dates and times for delivery with a tonne of different reasons for the delay, I finally managed to place the order early last week with a compensation of a free phone and double data and a promise that the phone would be delivered last week.
That never happened!
So I called them up again and after some further polite complaints, they offered me the credit on my account and said the phone would be with me by the end of this week.
I never raise my voice or say anything out of line. I just repeat the story and express polite frustration for the lies and they can never really do anything but compensate.

That's how i got my contract so low... grind them down play the long game... let the fun and games begin!!!
I eventually gave up.
They would not give me any sort of deal and kept saying I would loose loyalty discount if I upgraded early. So decided to order the phone sim free and wait until free upgrade date and get something else and sell it to make my money back.

I probably would have done the same if i wasnt in my upgrade period. I always seem to hit the every other mobile releases quite nicely. I missed the One X last year and got this. It was the desire the firs time round. Never been impressed with the Sensation though!
I wonder what ill have in two years?! Hang one a minute... lets get hold of the HTC One first before I start thinking about the next one!? haha

My upgrade period is in June so dont want to wait until then for the One!
Some people have got good deals upgrading early but just depends on luck I guess and I was starting to loose patience.
I first had Desire then upgraded free to Sensation XE and now getting One.
XE is not a bad phone but showing its age due to low res screen!
This lunch time should be fun... charging the Sensation for some verbal warfare. Fingers crossed i'll get a helpful Orange rep. I want 2 handsets this contract so maybe that might sweeten the deal and get the price down. I just don't want to lose my loyalty discount. And what happened to all the 12 and 18 month contracts?

(Lack of) Orange loyalty if you want to move to EE - experiences

Hi,
I have been with Orange for 12 years, with the current contract being in high 30/low 40 quid range. So far I've been reasonably happy with them and thought I'd upgrade to a HTC One (from a Sensation) and take advantage of EE's LTE (as my phone, etc now brands itself as EE). (contract end in 1 week)
Basically, no matter what I discuss with them they will not offer a single thing (not a penny, add-on, anything) if I move from Orange to EE (even though they are the same company more or less). They have said that because I would move to EE I would effectively be a new customer and that 'there is no loyalty offers/bonuses for existing Orange customers wanting to move to EE' and 'EE is a new company, we offer no loyalty offer to customers because all EE customers are new".
Can this be true? They offer no incentive for Orange customers to move? It'd not like I wanted to move to something the same price (it would likely to 5Gb contract as I would use it tether for work (London area)). I asked about 12, 18, and 24 month contracts and they said the same. It's the price stated on the web, no discount, no handset discount, nothing (18 month isn't on the web but you can ask for it and it's a £5 more a month plus the cost of a 12 month handset price!). I even pointed out that CwP and P4U had (slightly) better handset price offers on their website and they didn't care. Also said that if I was to treated as a completely new customer there was very little incentive to stay with an EE company then - again, nonchalance in all calls (three in total - upgrades and retentions)
I've search the other threads and they don't seem to answer my specific question, which is: Has any who moved from Orange to EE got them to give you any type of loyalty offer/bonus based on your time as customer on Orange?
Cheers
PS - are EE really doing that well at conversions...?
Are you within 3 months of contract end date? If not then they will not offer you anything. I tried.
Can't you stay with Orange and buy a phone without contract?
Screw what you can out of Orange on a new contract then, after 2 weeks I think it is, you can get a free transfer to EE.
Edit: last time I read the Ts n Cs I think the only drawback was that you had to sign for a new contract with EE that had to be the same length or longer than your existing contract.

One problem with this though,
He wants to use LTE. . . faster internet, Orange and T-Mobile cant offer this in the Uk as of yet (Even though there the same Company as EE) and dont know how long we have to wait, so the only way to get 4G LTE is switching to EE. . . It Sucks. . .
I feel sorry for ya man, but on the same subject, if you went to CPW or P4U or something, wont you be able to get a better deal? Free handset etc etc. . . i find these companies never give me a Upgrade deal, so i always get a PAC code and take out a new contract. . . unless you spend and extra £30 a month on top of your bill they dont wanna know!
There is no such thing as loyalty and hasn't been for a long time. Shop around & save yourself some money.
I moved from TMobile to EE and got the HTC One and 5gb of data for £46 for 12 months. 4G is amazing with the phone.
How did you get 5gb for £46? That's the tariff for 3gb

EE are **** for customer service.
Also their contracts are a god damn joke! 41 a month and still pay for the HTC One!? Can piss right off!
Mate if you want LTE I would go with O2 or Vodafone as they will have LTE by Summer
OR buy the phone SIM Free, then get a SIM Only 12 month contract from EE £26 a month 1gb data unlimited minutes/texts
Hi,
Thanks for all the responses. So, it does look as if Orange really aren't offering anything at all for existing customers to switch to EE. A shame as before with Orange I have always got some sort of loyalty deal (it's got worse over the last three years mind). Normally no handset fee, up to 10% of the monthly fee, and 18 month contracts at the same price as 24 (and once a free MMS package but then never managed to resolve the issue that I couldn't send MMS on that phone throughout the whole the contract - I did try(and apparently so did Orange, hmm))
Just to reply to some posters.
I only have just over a week left on my contract.
It'd be great to get a the phone not on contract but £500+ is a pretty big chunk to pay in one hit (I know you end paying it anyway, but it's easier if spread over the months)
I don't think Orange or T-mobile will ever get LTE, EE as the parent isn't going to let them IMO
I had thought about this, getting it on Orange and switch but their offer only lasts until 30/04, and knowing Orange the delivery will either get delayed until 01/05 or they'll be some hidden gem of a T&C. I might look into it though and if it works out cheaper try and talk to them. (though the cc these seem to be so gleeful that can't do anything for you...). Also, because I am looking for a 18 month deal it might be difficult.
£46 for 5Gb! If that's a 12 month contract that £16 cheaper per month! How!?! Did they charge you for the handset? I'd double check with them that you're on the right contract (I've had '18 month' deals that when processed became 24, leading to two weeks of irate conversations and then them finally conceding - sometimes I think they have a policy of mistakes and obstruction in resolving them in the hope you give up, but maybe I'm being old and cynical.)
I had talked to them about waiting for O2 or Vodaphone (I had thought about 3 but not sure if their rural coverage is any good, I do spend a bit of time up in Yorkshire) and they don't seem to care a jot. Also O2 and Vodaphone have announced their intention to make 4G a 'premium' product so can't see their prices being dramatically different. Especially as HTC One on O2 and Vodaphone with 4Gb (of 3G data) is £47 pm (24 months). I have a feeling that as EE have set their prices at this the level the others won't be dramatically different (think the big energy companies). Three might be an option but as I said I do worry about outside of urban area coverage. Also O2 4G spectrum purchase wasn't great IMO.
Anyway, if anyone has managed to get anything more (or not), let me know or feel free to rant about Orange/EE. If I ever do manage to get a deal I'll let you know so you use it a bit of a stick to beat them with (but I wouldn't hold your breath).
Pads: I haven't looked today (well, this week to be honest) but check out TopCashBack for cash-back deals.
I switched from 3 to Orange to get HTC One on day of release. Went through P4U initially on £36 for 24mths with beats plugs. Next day saw TCB offering same deal, through P4U for any 18mth contract AND £101 cashback. Phoned P4U, changed to the 18mth with plugs AND they threw in £100 cashback as well.
All because the cretins at 3 refused to offer me the phone for free (I'd been with them on top contract for 10 years.)
There's no point me paying for 4G ad I'm in Wales. We might get it in 2015.

Quite a while ago (ive been out the country a year and a half, so probably 3 years) I moved from Orange (to T-Mobile, so that doesn't help you) because they wouldn't offer me a sensible deal.
You're better off on a cheap tariff and over spending rather than getting an all inclusive package if you want a good deal.
Screw 'em, just go with the best deal you can find.
Better wait for other companies to roll out 4G, the monopoly of EE is just stupid and the prices are rip off.

I finished my 3 phone contract with Orange (after 10+ years) at the end of my contract. They basically shrugged their shoulders when I said I must have unlimited data. So ended, preordered two HTC Ones from mobile phones direct. Because of HTCONE delays just took temporary PAYG Sims for a month. Now have 2 year T mobile full Monty 1000 mins talk, unlimited text and data for £31 a month phone free. Only 3G. but who cares they haven't got 4G where I am anywhere. Walk with your feet everybody loyalty means nothing in phone business. PS keeping original numbers is easy now.
I think Orange are overpricing their 4G and when people start getting their over the limit charges are they going to get some stick.
