It seems like many Arabians (UAE,Kuwait,Egypt etc) are active in here i think we deserve a united thread for all our news/discussions starting with release dates/prices so i hope this will be the one thread for all of us
So far the Note II landed in Kuwait/UAE for about 760$ and supposed to land in KSA in 3/4 days for 740$ I'm interested in prices W/O warranty to be honest anyone knows supposed prices for these units?

Great topic for MEA users.
I already sold my SGnote and waiting to buy Note 2. It'll be in KSA within a week and price is 2700SR from Axiom.

Bought mine yesterday from Axiom Telecom Dubai around 735$ .

what about Egypt ???

ME Telecom "Mashal Elasema" just announced the price, it is 640$ (2399SR)

Note sure yet but probably will be 800$

How much does it coast in Jordan?
Only 2 hours of driving from Israel
Just kidding... Of course Israel is no included in the middle east releases... We have here a very bad importer! It took them forever to get the first Note. (They import fast only the Galaxy S series)

Hi,
Does anyone know if the model sold in the Middle East is 4G/LTE enabled?
I asked Handtec and they told me that the model they have in stock is 3G only

I honestly dont know mate, and believe me they will never be as bad the importers here in Egypt, quite annoying to find the Note prices in Canada (Int version) are higher than the Gulf/ME so i will just get it from here

I checked a Saudi Telecom company website to check if they have the note and its their for pre-orders and in the listings it says 4G,but honestly the whole middle east will get the international version which INDEED have 4G, but we already dont have 4G so its quite useless maybe that's what he meant that it wont work so only 3G will work :fingers-crossed:

Is it already being sold in Jordan ?

I wouldn't recommend to buy without warranty, you end up paying around a 100 $ less and take a risk of getting a faulty device.

I know mate but i dont live in the Gulf so taking a ticket from here back to there to just fix a phone doesn't sound very ECONOMICAL to me
i have family members there but between there have annual vacations i would rather have fixed it my self by that time!
nonetheless mate, any info about the prices/release date in Lebanon?

Galaxy Note II is coming to STC (Largest Cellular provider in KSA) on the 13th of October for 720$ W/O contract
http://www.unlimit-tech.com/blog/?p=87351

A final solution for all availability should be announced soon, until then i will re-open this thread. But i ask all to keep this thread to availability, any other posts should be directed to the appropriate threads, ie review, off topic, hints and tips threads. I only say this to help the information be found by all users. Thanks for your patients while this issue is being resolved.

US Magician works in sweden?

Hello.
I live in sweden and i'm very interested in purchasing a magician. Since everything is so expensive here in sweden and im going to USA soon i thougt i might be able to buy one there! Theres only one problem:
I don't know if the US version works here in sweden!?
If it doesn't, does anyone know how to change it so it does?
Im going to New York, manhattan, does anyone know a good and cheap place to buy it around there?
I would be EXTREMELY grateful for any answer
Cheers!

Buy from Germany.
US version is not out yet, and it won't work well in Europe.
What currently sells in US is the European 900MHz version.
Since i'm going to USA and the $ is very low right now, i'm not going to buy it from germany, and what do u mean with "European version" ? Germany is in europe, isn't it?
Do u know when it comes to USA then? I'm going there in the end of Februari
The US version will run 850MHz
THe other version 900MHz.
European phone networks run on 900. The 850MHz is not out yet so they're only selling the other version now in the US.
How much do you expect to pay in dollars?
i have no idea really... @ expansys USA it costs $ 649 so, maybe $ 700 maybe, i don't know how much more it costs in the stores....

www.mobilejoker.de
I bought at blueshop24.de but I would be an idiot if I recommended them. Try mobilejoker, lower price higher shipping, turns out the same.
I got my phone yesterday have reflashed it to english, piece of cake, and made sure the t-mobile modifcations didnt get installed.
I'm really satisfied for now, but there is a lot to explore
is there any warranty? Wouldn't be so fun if something gets broke like a pixel and u can't fix it....
And is there any site in english, spanish or swedish ? Not so good at german...
How long does the shipment take?
I'm still thinking of buying it in New York, but not shure....
Thank's for all your help!
I used www.freetranslation.com to convert the text to English when filling the forms.
My shipping took about 1 week and a half because I placed my order in the middle of the christmas break.

Yes the Imate Jam which are currently being sold in the U.S. will work in Europe, they are selling the 900mhz model. Same as what you would buy in Europe/UK. Imate has not yet released the 850mhz version and will not till around mid february there abouts. So all the jams that are sold now are the 900mhz band. I purchased one from expansys.com and it is the 900mhz with the UK 3 prong charger.
Thanks! Finally someone who talk so i can understand But, can anyone pleaase explaine to me what 900 mhz and 850 mhz is and what is the differens and so on. Maybe a dumb question but i have no idea!
And what does the UK charger look like?
THANKS!

European networks use 900MHz.
Most US networks work on 850. I think T-Mobile works on 900 in some places and so very few Americans can use the Jam that's currently on sale in the US.

I thought about getting it from Germany as well, but I didn't want the trouble of dealing with Germans if the device breaks or malfunctions in any way. The legislation is good for consumers in Sweden and I wouldn't want to loose that.
For example, my S100 will need some service, so right now I'm glad that I bought it in Sweden. One corner of the back is a bit loose, but I guess the service center can solve that problem easily.

Put 2+2 together perhaps? There's no such thing as a free lunch! You want the 5 yr Swedish warranty instead of the low foreign prices? Fine - you need to pay for it.
Me personally, I dont plan on keeping any of these devices for more than 1 year before I sell it, so I'd rather not pay the Scandinavian prices....

What I'm saying is that if, or rather when as in my case, I will have to return the device for service, during that 1st year, I'd rather not talk to a "no comprende" speaking German who doesn't want to add costs to his logistics.
This is the particular kind of device I want an effective warranty on because of any peculiar oddities that might occur - high tech, very new to the market, no service record. And as I said, my S100 will need some service.
But, of course, there are a lot of perfectly good dealers out there, and most of the time, most of those aren't the cheapest ones. It's easy to shoot oneself in the foot, but service and support doesn't come free, in Scandinavia nor any place else.
And it is still up to every and all to decide where to put their money, just wanted to add my few cents.

[Q] Preorder deals in germany

Hi guys,
after a long time of absence i'm finally going to come back to the HTC folks. Has anyone seen good preorder deals in Germany? If i look to idealo (the standard german comparison site), i only see way too expensive deals starting from 666 €.
If i look to clove i'd have to pay 610 € for the preorder deal (incl. shipment - 32GB version)
Idealo has the 64gb version for 780 €.. Way too expensive if you ask me.
So.. I'd like to have the 64GB version.
Any comments welcome..
cheers
EDIT: This site is giving an overview for preordering deals at providers.. I don't see any information about the 64GB version yet. I could be the 32GB version on friday in Hamburg for 600 €, but unfortunately i'm not at home until next week.

Hi all,
I'm currently live in Berlin. But as far as i know, tomorrow is just a pre-sale. Not the official sell start.
you can visit the vodafone forum. Sorry I can't post link yet.
BTW, yesterday I went to O2 shop, the sales rep told me I can order the contracted phone and cancel the contract after the 1st month.
Hope to get mine ASAP. Can't wait any more. LOL

9,99€ only? the sales rep shows me something like 1€ +25€ +10€ for the first month......I didn't quite catch her. But she said the Pre-ordered customers will get the devices on the 8th or 9th March.
Personally, I won't buy it at O2. If not at Vodafone in Berlin, I'll wait for Mediamarkt or Saturn. Hope at that time the shops will have some special offer or voucher to give.
I guess you can also make use of the german "Widerruf"-law and only cancel the contract and keep the phone.

I think there must be some hidden trap in the O2 contact. O2 will not be so stupid to let the customers so easy to cancel the contracts.

[Korean Users Only] Xperia Z Conversation

Hi. This thread is ONLY for Korean users of Xperia Z and Koreans who wants to buy it.
Since Xperia Z is not most likely coming to Korea, let's share where to buy it and more.
Please share your reviews, where to buy it and more.
Disappointed in Sony and SK Telecom
I have sent email after email to Sony Mobile Korea (SMK) since the Xperia S was announced last year to find out if it was coming to Korea. They could not give me any answers. Eventually I was told that Sony will DEFINITELY release a "new and better phone than the Xperia S in 2013".
When the Xperia Z was announced I thought This Is It!!!
Again one email after the other got me nowhere - each time the same response: we have no information yet...
The only info I got from SMK was that the phone will NOT be released in March. So will it be released later or not???
The handset has been released in more than 60 countries already. One would think that Sony would make decision about Korea. This country has a tough market and the Xperia Z is the perfect phone to get a stronger hold in the Korean market.
Anyway, I know the phone is available on Gmarket. Just search Xperia z
It would be good to have a Korean phone the seller and ask if the phone can be used in Korea, just to be sure.
You can then choose from a variety of service plans from KT: ktexpatblog . com
Choose the "Mobile Phones" tab and then "Rate Plans".
I hope this is helpful.
I will wait a while longer until Sony officially make an announcement on whether the Xperia Z will be released in Korea (I doubt though if we will ever get a definite answer).
I don't think Z will launch in Korea. Simply because Sony and HTC have given up on the Korean market due to Samsung's obvious dominance in its home country.
Maybe

Maybe they will. Sony is desperate to get back into the market and they finally have the phone to do so.
On the other hand, it's not good news that Motorola and HTC pulled out of Korea last year and Blackberry will do the same this year. This shows how dominant Samsung is in SK.
But the Xperia Z is finally a phone that can compete with Samsun's Galaxy and Note. They would be stupid if they don't push the Z in Korea.
This is Sony's chance to get into the Korean market.
Yeah... I mailed them and they said that they are working for releasing a new phone between Q1-Q2. But no news If they are planning for XZ, they need to be quick because it isnt smart for sony to release XZ after Samsung release S4.

I totally agree. They need to release it (whichever handset they choose) ASAP. Once Samsung releases the S4 Sony will have no option but to throw in the towel.
However, I've learned to take everything Sony Mobile Korea says with a (huge) pinch of salt. Last year they told me a better phone than the Xperia S WILL be released in Korea during Q1 of 2013. No chance of that happening!

Does anyone have experience with any of these companies?
Galaxy S4
The fact that there is STILL no info on the Xperia Z's release in Korea, not even from Sony Mobile Korea, is really disappointing.
I was planning to buy the Z online and get a contract from KT. However, what if something goes wrong with the phone or I lose it? There is no insurance plan like you can get when buying a phone on contract.
So I have officially decided that if the Z is STILL not in Korea by the release of Galaxy S4 this will be my next phone.
To hell with Sony and their poor service.
It's sad because I truly love Xperia, but the S4 looks like the most viable option

FYI, it is not the release date for HongKong.

I heard the chinese people get's a different type of HTC One? It should have 12megapixels(not ultrapixel) and has a sd card slot?
Hmmm wonder how zoe would do with that.
I'm pretty sure Hong Kong will get the Ultrapixel version, not the Chinese version.

There are rumors that the Contract version with China Mobile will feature a 8 megapixel camera.
That would just do for China mainland.

Ahh yes you're right. It's 8mp instead of 13mp. So hongkong variant is different than chinese variant? Hmmm I thought hongkong is also part of china.
hhhhhhhmmmmmm

Yeah, Hong Kong will get the HTC One with the same specs as everywhere else, but it will also have traditional Chinese support.
Just Google Hong Kong SAR, to find out why it isn't really part if China.

Well, HK is absolutely Chinese territory.
There is something called "One Country, Two Systems" which you should know.
That is not what we are trying to talk about here.
This version has an SD card option?

Well, please understand the so-called Special Administrative Region.
It means HK is special compared with China mainland, but it is part of China.
Gosh, I gotta stop educating people about this stuff.

No, not the HK version.
This should be the China Mobile contract version.
BTW, I do not like it.

I live in Hong Kong, thanks.
Of course it's part of China, but nothing here is like the mainland, is it?
lol you guys diverted the topic from phone to countries I just asked if HK will also get the chinese variant or not since obviously they're of the same country.
Much like in EU Great Britain, England & Wales are seperated but all of them are getting the same variant.

Nah hong Kong gets the best of both worlds. They get the xiaomi, meizu phones etc as well as the international samsungs, htcs, nexus line etc
Based on the phones available in HK I would say almost 100% internatipnal 4mp version, but no doubt a few places will sell the China one

For the longest time many in Taiwan and many in Hong Kong look down on Chinese Mainlanders and view themselves as being the better people when all in all they are all Chinese lol.. This usually irks the Mainlanders from China along with those from Taiwan and Hong Kong. I have been Asia for quite some time now and am not Chinese. At the end of the day they are all Chinese. Yes the ones in Hong Kong are from Hong Kong and the ones from Taiwan are from Taiwan but at the end of the day all of them are Chinese!
Back to the main topic of smartphones, Hong Kong usually gets the international edition and usually the one with 4G or LTE which is nice. In Taiwan HTC pretty much Fuc*ed their own people over by being stingy and taking out the 4G/LTE option and just selling their device with the 3G model. Then HTC wonders why they lose market share to Samsung and others

UK Thread for the brave

I've ordered a dual sim Note 5 for delivery mid week next week.
In this thread hopefully we can help each other to get the best from the various versions which we will import from all corners of the globe.
Edit - ordered model 9208 from Taiwan. But can now get this in the UK from UK ebay sellers. I have 4g on Vodafone only near Stratford and Canning Town in London so far.
Edit - if you want a device compatible with UK 4g networks go for the N920c variant.
I've got an imported n920i and so far no issues with calls or 3G - I don't have a 4G contract to test that but i'm on EE and this model has been tested successfully on EE 4G by others.
The other bonus of importing the n920i was it came with a UK plug, no adapter needed!
Where did you guys import from?
Awaiting Delivery of an N920i ordered from Ebay for £493.
Hoping there are no problems using on the 3 network with 4G.

I wanted a 64gb model and none were available from UK based sellers so ordered from Taiwan and I know I'll end up paying import duties.
My understanding that N9208 wont have B20 800mhz to use on Three network?

You're right about Band 20. But the 9208 spec mentions Band 18 for 800mhz. I'm not too concerned as I will use Vodafone and EE (dual sim)
Ordered the 64gb n9208 off ebay, so far so good! No import duties as well luckily 550 all in. Using 4g on ee

I'd be interested in buying this
Can any one post impresions on N920i on Three UK 4G hows its working?
I'm interested too, I really want a dual sim but band 20 missing is probably a bad idea in the long run so may have to get 920c .. Heard 920cd is coming with dual sim but unclear if that's got band 20
Can anyone who has bought already tell us which eBay sellers you used so we know which are trustworthy? Cheers!

Those approx. mhz numbers can be confusing, we have to stick to the Bxx codes and ask for them when they are missing.
While B18, B19 and B20 are often marked as "800mHz", you can see from the table in the link with precise frequencies none will work for the other.
