Galaxy note II random videos thread - Galaxy Note II General

Hi Everyone,
I think we need a thread for interesting videos - I don't see the point in opening up new threads for tiny little random video clips, unless they have a major talking point.
Anyway, here is a video of someoen showing the new 'blocking mode' that isn't on the note 1:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wKmZNcrCj8
Basically you can block various notifications at a scheduled time, and include a 'allow' list for certain people.
I think this new: s-note recording:

Another random thought while watching these videos -
Airplay is sure interesting. The ability to 'point' at something without selecting them is quite nice.
For example - tool tips in windows where you can get a little pop up box saying what an icon is, without actually pressing it.

Slow motion:

the option to speed up is in there too lots of new special effects

Nice demo video from Samsung Korea a couple of days ago -
The spit screen feature is only in some of the latest ROMS apparently.

A pretty clear 'how to CWM/ROOT' your phone:

Another s-pen video - it has some stuff I haven't seen in other vids:

I'm officially sick of unboxing videos already. hah.

Disassembly video.
I'm always surprised how there's almost nothing in these phones, once you remove the screen and the battery.

Stick It Video Player

I use to surf and watch movies at the same time on my desktop. Now with the Note I use the computer very little. I found this app that would give me even more reason to use my desktop less. I now can watch videos while I text, surf, read news etc. on my Note just like my desktop. The Note's big screen makes this app even more useful. Check out this app...

Wahouu, it works just fine. Now you can watch a youtube video while doing something else on your phone. I'm even writing this watching the video clip, rude boy of Rihanna of course. Sometimes it struggles, i think that the video player isn't perfect yet. Hopefully updates will add stability and features

I like it as a first step to real multitasking on android. There is the question of where to actually "stick it"! That is, for some cases, it would be nice if, instead of the image just covering part of the screen you might need to see, you would have the option of not displaying or making it transparent instead of moving the image to another area. For example, you might just want to listen to music on You Tube and not see the image while typing something up using the polaris editor.
Just sent the developer this email
Hi, I just bought your app and it's just amazing. I really like the idea. Sometimes it freezes the phone but I think that it's just a matter of time because future updates will make it more stable.
I'm more interested in features.
1. Possibility to watch on full screen
2. Possibility to have something like a playlist or more practical a queue. I mean if you disable multi screen options. If you wanna share another video with stick it, it would be great to have the possibility to queue up the last video or to play it straight away if you see what I mean.
3. Transparency. It would be great to be able to increase or decrease it so it will be possible le to watch the video and see what's on the background. You could inspire yourself with the controls of the video app MX Video player. The transparency could be set by swapping vertically.
4. Still abt the transparency, it would be great to have an option on the top android bar to activate or disable the possibility to interact with the video window. If disabled then it would be for instance possible to use the keyboard while watching the video.
Hope updates will feature some of these ideas

Looks interesting. Might give it a try..
Unfortunately it has Vitamio as backend. Vitamio has been known to erase video files from sdcard when performing its operation.

To be fair, it only uses the Vitamio codecs, and I doubt it was these that was erasing files.

This is so irritating to see...
Hear me out...
I feel that Android as an OS falls short in it's multi-tasking abilities...
Just watch this:

After seeing Onskreen Cornerstone I can't even look at this App. (No offense intended to the developers)
It's good at what it does but Android needs proper multitasking.

My List!
@Intratech: Do you already have a retail unit of GS3? Lucky guy
My list (maybe some options repeated in previous posts):
+ How does the phone feel in-hand? Any particular build issues? Some previews mentioned that the phone looks much better than in press photos. Example here
+ Browser performance, also how is Chrome performance.
+ TW performance. Any slowdown or issues?
+ Details on gestures. I know that there are a ton of gestures, do they work properly?
+ Screen comparison to GS2. Sunlight visibility.
+ Please upload photos in full resolution under various lighting conditions. Same for short video samples. Maybe you could upload that in google drive.
+ Social tag feature in camera/gallery. I am really interested to know how well this works. They can create wonderful commercial with this feature.
+ AllShare Play (I think it works like iCloud). Samsung uploaded a video about that feature here
+ Audio/Video player settings and performance. I noticed that the video gallery shows the previews of all videos stored. Does it impact the performance of the device while showing previews of multiple video at same time?
+ Check various codec it supports.
+ USB OTG and PS3 controller demo.
+ Camera settings. I think we need 2 devices to check buddy share.
+ S Beam will also need 2 devices. Does normal Android Beam work with GNex?
+ If you are getting the AllShare Cast dongle, please check if I can play a video on the TV while doing something else on the phone. How does pop-up play work with the AllShare dongle?
+ Try weird questions in the S Voice. Maybe also some geography/history questions. Shoot some trivia questions. Try launching applications with S Voice. Can it be used to type messages/email?
+ GPS/GLONASS performance. WiFi strength.
+ Difference between 4 colour/screen modes.
+ Gaming performance projected to a HDTV.
+ Background applications running after a fresh reboot.
No I don't have a retail unit as yet. I will get it once it's released to retail

(Reprint from AC) Top 10 things you need to know about your Galaxy S III

Some folks who read Android Central regularly may have already seen this, but there are some pretty useful tips for the new version of TouchWiz Nature UX:
http://www.androidcentral.com/top-10-things-you-need-know-about-your-galaxy-s-iii
Personally I think the disabling of the S Voice home tap, killing the water droplet sounds, and gesture-based controls are pretty good tips.
Nothing groundbreaking that you couldn't find digging around the menus, but nice that it's all written up in one quick list.
good read. thanks for the link (im out of thanks )
"*you can capture 6MP stills at the same time as shooting video in 1080p mode on the Galaxy S III."
That is what they say , but I can't do that on AT&T SGS 3 .
Am I missing something? Does international version do that ?

Screencast/ Video-Audio Capturing

I was intrigued by the new Note II feature where it was demonstrated that you would be able to capture a video of you making markings using the S-Note while also having audio being captured.
My suspicion is that this feature (if ported to the note 10.1) will be limited to S-Note.
I have found other note making apps, namely Quill, to be lightyears ahead of S-Note in the design of their interface and in their taking advantage of the pressure sensitivity of the digitizer in this tablet. It would be completely ideal, for me, to be able to take video recordings of my note-taking using other such apps whilst having audio embedded. For example, it would be absolutely useful to have the ability to play back the process of taking notes in a lecture using Quill whilst having my teacher's voice embedded over the video.
What I would like to know is namely if anyone has tried out any apps such as "screencast" which allow such functionality? I have not rooted my device yet, so it is not possible for me to see if this app works well on this tablet. Otherwise, does anyone know of any apps besides screencast which serve the same purpose? And of course, speculation as to whether the new note II features (if ported) will allow screen/audio recording throughout the user interface is welcome in this thread.
Cheers,
And a note to the mods: While this post is posed in the form of a question, I feel it is more suited for general rather than Q&A because of the rather unspecific nature of the question and discussion it may promote with regard to a certainly sought after feature by many users.

Bare in mind, it's a very early release.
You have that in S-note. Just open a new document with squares and you get a red dot in the menu. Record and enjoy!

To reemphasize, I am not so fond of S-Note as I am of other note taking apps, namely Quill, which is much more suited to the fast paced note-taking required for the course I am taking.

Thanks for this.
Just got around to watching this video, and it has me excited. Seeing as he initiated screen recording from his home page, I'm under the assumption that this will work throughout the interface. I do hope this makes it to the final release. For anyone time-pressed, he demos this feature at 2:40 in the video.
Alright, well a few months has passed and I have now flashed a JellyBean 4.1.2 rom. and as is probably evident to most... the screen recording feature didn't make it into the final version of JellyBean despite showing up in some of the leaked versions.
At any rate, since I have rooted the tablet, I went ahead and installed Screencast Video Recorder. It has worked phenomenally in most cases; however, just lately here some of the videos I have made will not play and seem corrupted in various ways (I suspect this may be because of having EZ Task Manager installed recently on my device, but I won't have made a video with it uninstalled yet until tonight.. so we'll see if that fixes things).
I was wondering: of those of you who use this app on the SGN 10.1 and have gotten it to work well, what settings do you use both within the app and within the system settings? Any other tips, such as avoiding installing certain apps or anything else you might suggest, for getting this amazing app to run optimally?

New YouTube app full screen button missing when docked on TFs!

Hi,
So Google done gone and broke YouTube in the latest version. The full screen button is now gone when you dock your transformer (any version).
Perhaps someone has a link to the old version they can post....I stupidly had YouTube set to auto update.....
Plus I hate the new interface. It's like it was created for the mentally deficient and blind senior citizens....

YouTube Lags
Hi guys,
i have another problem with the new YouTube app but i didn't want to make a new thread.
Everytime i watch videos in higher quality and in the video are fast movements, it jumps forward for 1 or 2 seconds. I have the impression, that my transformer handles the video to slow, because if i watch films where is no real action, everything is fine.
I hope you understand me and sorry for my bad school english.
Edit: their is a problem with the framerate but i don't know what to do.

Lol yes. Unfortunately that is the case.
Same issue here, no full screen button when docked.
Simply resolved: Go to settings, apps, find the youtube app and uninstall updates. Older version looks MUCH nicer with that Wall!!
New version does show slight improvement in video playback speed though, although could be placebo...
