Battery lies. - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK so I have had this phone two days now and noticed an oddity. I had about 43% battle according to the phone. I rebooted and then jumped down to 20% or so. Anyone else see this.

I've noticed some smaller discrepancies, like 5-7% or so, but nothing like what you're seeing.

Dude you either have a serious wake lock problem or you were streaming music that entire time.
-Sent from my Razr M.-

No clue. Last few days it was fine 12 hours of use and like 50% battery. Today I did nothing different. No streaming music but a bit more texting.

Ever since reboot it is fine. What could have caused it to stay awake.

I think all Android users faced some issues with battery status..
Ex. When the phone charged 80% if restart it the battery might decrease by 5% each time... while when it's less than 10% each time the battery decrease from 1-2% max ! ... that's really not reasonable
In addition, when i charge my phone 8 hour the battery would stay 17 hour.. while if i change it until it's got 100% charged "according to battery status" it wouldn't stay on more than 10 hours!!! Wipping battery and other solutions also didn't help by the way !!!!

Use smart actions battery saver mode whole day that is what I do and get about 16 hours of battery on medium usage.

I will try that

I had a similar problem and never solved it. My battery typically lasts 32 hours new. After a few weeks it went to 16. Frustrated I let it "die" to find that it actually continued to run for 16 additional hours literally at 0%.
Unplugging the battery fixed it for that current charge cycle but upon recharging it went back to its old ways.
I eventually went through the trouble to purchase an OEM replacement and further open up my Razr M to replace. Things were great for another couple of weeks until the same exact problem happened again.
Frustrated I go back and forth between my Inc 4g and my Razr M depending on if I need a reliable battery read (traveling, etc). I like the Razr M so much I might just buy another and hope it doesn't crap out like this one, but then again there is probably a new season of Droid devices coming in a few months.

have you tried one of those battery calibration apps? they require root though.
as for me, my battery yesterday showed 34% while in the system. but then when I booted in TWRP recovery, it said my battery was at 22%.

Can't you wipe battery stats in cwm too? That could help...

Nexus 7 Battery Life

Hi! I recently got a Nexus 7 and I am somewhat disappointed in the battery life. I am only getting around 3 hrs of battery life and is draining quickly while idle. The battery is also draining while being used while connected to my pc. I am using Jellybro rom along with Trinity Alpha 64. Can anyone recommend the best Rom/Kernel combination for battery life ? I read that Trinity is great for battery life so I'm doubting the Rom (however it works great on my Galaxy Nexus). As I dont always use the same things on my tablet I cant really test the different roms myself.
Thanks

I'm getting great battery life on my stock N7 :|
I tried it the other day, used it all day and it died after around 8-9hrs. Was tethering via bluetooth, brightness set to auto, and either played games, used FB messenger, or read Wall St Journal frequently throughout the day.
Sync and location enabled.
Oh and the N7 will probably discharge faster than your PC can charge it. Typical USB ports on a PC only output .5A of power. Chargers meant for tablets usually provide about 2A of power. So thats another issue.
Might I suggest running the N7 till it shuts itself off due to no battery, then letting it sit and charge overnight till its 100%?

If its enough to make you mad then its prolly not right.
To say your doing in wrong would be a far shot but your tablet is definitely doing it wrong..lol. I was just saying the other night to my girl that I was super happy with the battery because it lasts all day for me. From 7am in the morning till 12 at night. Of course im not using it every waking moment but I do check it/use it as much as I would have normally used my phone. During work I am on wifi till about 430 and then from 430-8/9 while im in class im tethering using it almost the whole time, then when im home for the rest of the night I will be on wifi. The things I do vary from webbrowsing (reddit, xda, etc) emailing attachments, listening to google music and GPS/texting. (yes I use tablet talk which is why I rarely use my phone anymore except to setup tethering)
If you are having any issues with your battery I recommend to get a battery app to reset the stats and try again. If not return to stock then try that method again.. then if NOT return.

Just turn off your google account auto-sync and your battery life should increase dramatically. I use the power widget to toggle sync.
Okay here are some screenshots of my battery life... Not sure if its uploading properly though since im doing this through the app.....
EDIT: Looks like it didnt work... But basically I had about 20.5hrs of total battery time. Screen on for a total of 5.5hrs. Bluetooth on the entire time, WiFi on for about 6 hours.

My wife has a n4 and the battery doubled/ballooned to over 50% of its original size breaking the back glass amd causing what seemed like all kind of software issues. That's what I call a really defective battery...
Cann you post the first 5 or 8 characters of the serial number from the box? This might be an isolated issue for a single battery or a line of devices with the same supplier for the battery.
Haha this reminds me of my old HTC hero.
As that was a removable battery it was encased in a plastic housing.
I just remember coming to it one day and finding the back cover half off.
When I removed it the battery looked like an egg!
Funny enough I just squeezed it back to it's sort of original shape and it still works fine to this day (backup phone)

It happened to me also.
My N4 was turning off randomly and draining battery suddenly from 90% to 50% on so on. I sent my phone to LG service center and they said they have no solution for this problem. The second day my battery doubled size and the back of the phone was no more flat (luckily it didnt break). So i went and changed the battery now my N4 is working fine again with no problem, but sometimes it get overheated with no reason
My battery isn't bloated, but after a red light of death, I'm getting about 1hr 30 mins on 3g (used to reach minimum of 3hrs) and 2hrs or less in wifi (used to get 5hrs+) which sucks :/, gonna get a replacement tomorrow.

Same thing here, my battery life is horrible and it shuts down at 2 hrs sot no matter what, I also noticed that the back isn't flat anymore. Probably gonna have to get it replaced. By the way how much did you pay for the battery? And would it be covered with the warranty?

you should RMA as its abnormal and unacceptable to occur, if you have your battery connected while the phone isnt in use for a long time it can expand, ive seen it in my old phones left in the drawer.

U should RMA your phone, i bought mine from google store US, but i am abroad now.
I mailed them about my problem and they said they would RMA my device if i was in the US now.
So i want to an LG service center it costed me 33$
I am thinking about RMA but I will be leaving the country for business this Saturday for three weeks. So I guess I will wait a while, hopefully its not dangerous and the back doesn't crack

WiFi eating battery on Note 3

Hey everyone,
My mom just got a new Note 3 (yay!), and I have been quite busy exploring all its features. One thing that is nagging me, however is that both the stock browser and chrome are using up a great deal of battery. Wifi is eating 1% Every 1-2 minutes and while using the browsers this is amplified to a percent every 30 secs!
Please help me.

Wifi has always been a battery vampire.
Do you have brightness set to 100%?
How far are you from the router? A bad signal uses more power.
Is anything syncing in the background?

I just don't understand why they don't use stronger batteries in the first place. I wouldn't mind carry along an additional let's say 50g in exchange for a longer battery life ...

At stand by, the Note 3 hardly uses 1-2% battery every 8 hours or so, but when it comes to calling (core function of the phone!) and wifi+browsers the battery suffers greatly. I haven't tested cellular data yet because of weak signals near my house. Should I let it drop to 0% and charge to 100% or get a new battery? Really disappointed with the battery.
As a general rule you should avoid full discharge/recharge cycles (except for things such as recalibration) as this in the long run shortens the batt's lifetime even more. So it's best to recharge it more often and keep it somewhere between 10-90%.

UPDATE
New update guys:
I left my phone with WiFi on for half an hour and it ate 3% battery from 50% to 47% which includes a phone call. And this time the phone was a bit further away from the router. So, I guess it's not the WiFi that's sucking the juice but the browsers.
Any fix for this?

Fixed
Hey,
Well the issue fixed itself. I now have WiFi running with Smart Screen, Air Gestures, Sync, Screen Rotating and using the web browser to do some surfing and battery hasn't dropped a percent since the last few minutes. It got fixed right after another (it's 3rd) charge and it's working now.
Guess I just needed to charge it a few times for it to work. If anyone else is having issues and have charged it only once or twice, try charging it again. Mine was at 47% when I charged.
Requesting a mod to lock this.

Help with Battery Life/Power Issues

Hey all
I've been having massive issues with my battery life recently, it's never been great however it's actually gotten a lot worse post Kit Kat. I've taken a few screenshots on a few different apps like GSam Monitor, Wakelock detector and Battery Widget, I was wondering if somebody could help me diagnose the issue. Or at least just give me general insights into the numbers that I'm getting in terms of battery life.
EDIT: Just noticed a new issue where a couple of times my battery was somewhere in the 40's and then the phone crashes and when I start it back again it just has about 2 % battery left. Weirdly enough, after charging it for a couple of minutes, that battery now goes up to 30%. Would love to know if somebody has had a similar issue and what might be a way to go about trying to find some sort of solution.

same battery issue here. Its not because software. i tryed CM11m11, Ubuntu Touch, stock.. same problem. Im waitting new battery, because i was not that gentle with batteru when i was repalcing camera 15 days ago.
Usualy moment before phone restart, lose sim signal, then freeze and restart
If flashing stock doesn't resolve it, I'd say the battery is dying. I went from 2 hours between charges to 12-14 with a new battery.

My battery is also dying (switched to new phone now). It averages about 1 hour of SOT over several days and it's only wifi only. I guess I could swap out a fresh one but it goes to show that we need easily removable batteries but they just don't last that long.

Did your battery life return to "normal"? Not that the Nexus 4 ever had great usage time. I might attempt it myself as a challenge.

It did. I've connected my LG G Watch to my N4 so Bluetooth, GPS and mobile data are always on.
But Facebook is a Batterykiller I'm working from 07:45am till 4pm and when I come home I've around 40%-50% battery left.
Intriguing, but what is your SoT?

Around 3-4 hours when my Bluetooth, mobile data(3G) and gps is on. But I can't tell it exactly cause I'm not using it that much anymore cause my primary phone is the N5.
I replace battery, now everithing works perfect. It was battery problem, not software.

Problems charging after latest t-mobile update

Has anyone had any trouble charging after the update? The one that promised optimized battery life? I always charge my phone in the morning so it's not just sitting at 100% during the night. I gave it almost 2 hours this morning and it only got to 67%. I used the Ampere app and it starts at like 100mAh and then slowly goes to about 800mAh and then fluctuates in between. I know nothing is wrong with the charger because I plugged in my note 3 with the same app and it showed 1200mAh which is what the charger is rated for. I've also had slightly worse battery life after updating. The day I updated I could only get 3:28 sot, and before updating I could easily get 4 and a half to 5+ sot. Anybody have a problem like this or maybe a fix?
Hello, yesterday was my first day after the update and my battery life went from 3.5 hrs SoT too 4.5-5.0 hrs. Yesterday was the first 5hrs of SOT I've ever had. I'm happy my device is normal. It all depends on the usage like today I'm using my phone a little more. I'm using more battery. But in not tripping if I wanted to save battery I know I could!! It's very possible.

Try restarting your phone. Might sound dumb I know but I've had instances where fast charging didn't work until I restarted or that my battery percentage was not "correct"
I've restarted many times now and tried wiping the cache but still nothing. The battery seems to be depleting semi-normally again, still not as good as it was but the charging still takes a long time.
Have you tried it without the app?
By the way, the phone using Qhich Charge 2.0 has built in software that communicates with the charger. No need for a 3rd party app.
I haven't had any problems charging after the update.
The app doesn't help charge the phone, it just shows how many mAhs are going into the phone from the brick. Since the phone has been charging so slowly I wanted to see if power coming in was being slowed or something for some reason

Does the last update from tmobile does increase your battery life? Or at least gives you better battery.

My battery life is about the same now, but it's still the charging part. It's shown it'll take about 3 hours to charge but when I let it charge yesterday it's still going as of now with 4+ SoT. So battery life is okay, it's the charging. I'll try disabling and restarting and see if that helps

If all else fails, do a factory reset. I did after this last updated since it seems like it was a pretty important one. Differently get better sot, better battery drain while idle. Everything is backed up in the cloud so it wasn't that big of a deal.
I've tried the reset, knowing that a factory reset would have to be next. But charging seems to be back to normal now. I still think it's a little slower than it was, but when I plug it in, it shows anywhere from an hour to an hour 20(when my phone is under 10%). I think it's coming back slowly
